I'm very sorry for delay, I've been slack with keeping up with my PbP games (my only excuse is that we have a number of heat waves here and I've been avoiding the room with the computer).

Shadow Lodge

Male Human Bard 3

Oh what I wouldn't give for a heat wave. We're supposed to get our third snowstorm in as many weeks tomorrow.

Snowing right now, after weeks of record snow and well below freezing temps. Only 43 days till spring, though at this rate it'll snow that day. :)

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Right now that sounds wonderful, but I suspect it would get tiring after the first few days. Much like 40+ days (about 100+ to US) get tiring pretty quick.

Like I said it was a weak excuse.

Silver Crusade

Male Human(Shoanti) Fighter 2 HPs 13/13 AC 15/T12/FF13

Very sorry for my absence, but the house has been a freezing and dusty nightmare for the last few weeks. The builders have been very slow in getting things done and the trying to live a normal life under these circumstances has been nigh on impossible. At last the roofing in almost complete, as said most walls are down, but we are waiting for the weather to improve enough to have the rendering at the front done, before we can get the front of the house watertight. It goes rendering, balcony then windows and doors.

At the back of the house we are running the kitchen out of boxes as we wait from the kitchen room to complete its build and the kitchen installed. We have no work surfaces except for the top of the fridge and cooker. Hopefully we will have a kitchen installed by the end of February, the floor is down, just waiting for the water from the mains to be connected to the new pipework, which is being dug out now. 1st fit electrics done, now for plasterboards and plastering to be done, including the ceiling etc.

So life has been a bit rough, (not to mention my wife's car was written off when the wind blew my son's motorbike into it, looking to get another car very quickly).

It meant I stopped posting in all games and haven't been on the Paizo boards at all.

We are coming out the other end.

If you are still wanting me to continue in the game, I can start posting more regularly after the weekend.

Shadow Lodge

Male Human Bard 3

I think Tareth wants a Will save from you and is GMPC'ing you otherwise. Your situation sounds both worse and longer than last year's Sandy aftermath. I hope you can keep weathering it for as long as you need. Can you at least keep a fire going?

Wow, that's awful Gorax, keep holding up there. I'm sure Tareth will be happy to have you back when your life returns to normal. Makes the weather here seem just dandy by comparison. Hope things get better soonest for you and your family.

Gorax, glad both you and Andrei are both still around. House remodels are never fun, and even worse in the winter.

Please feel free to jump back in as things settle down. I'll just keep bumping things forward as needed.

I should hope so. 21 damage is more than either B8 or B10 took before going down. Nice crit.

Now we need to see if this tentacled beast can do down.

Everyone can go ahead and level up at this point.

Is it straight back to Oleg's or are you stopping at the abandoned cabin?

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Stopping, at least Andrea will be and I suspect we'll take a slightly different rout back after that so Anwel can map more of the land.

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

If that's what y'all want. Does anyone remember how long we've been away from the trading post?

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

2 days to bandit camp,
1 day resting
1 or 2 days to base camp where we left Vrag and Tam
2 day in and out of valley

6 or 7 days total by my calculations

Although it may have been only a day and a bit to the bandit camp I'm not sure, making it 5-6 days

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

As mapping/exploring involves taking longer and risking encounters/ should probably head straight back the way we came.

Mapping around Oleg's for security purposes is probably more important than mapping away from Oleg's.

Exploring an abandoned cabin can probably wait until we map back this way.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

You'll need to convince Andrei in character of skipping the cabin. He thinks it's likely that his Aunt lived there and the only thing that stopped him looking at it before was that we were on a quest from a god.

Just a quick player count check. We've lost Imon and Udo and possibly Gorax. Stellan is out for a little bit, but will return. That leaves us with Warren, Anwel, and Andrei as currently active. I'm happy to continue with just three/four plus NPC's, however, if you all feel a couple more PC's would be useful I'm willing to open up recruitment for one or two more? Any thoughts? Did I miss anyone?

Shadow Lodge

Male Human Bard 3

One of these days we're going to have more ex-PCs than NPCs kicking around. It looks like you've accounted for all the PCs we had when we took our leave of Thad, so I don't think you're missing anyone. Before deciding on whether to open recruitment again, I'd like to get a firmer idea of Gorax's status. As far as I remember, he asked to be NPC'd until he's able to post again, sort of like Stellan but more long-term. I'd also like to play out an encounter or two with the current configuration, just to see if it's workable.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

I can't understand it.
This is better than regular km!

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Grrr, website swallowed my detailed and well thought out reply. In Summaray game is good, Happy to have one or two more, as long as we leave space for Stallan, Gorax, Imon or other's to return.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

I would think we cannot leave space for PCs and recruit at the same time. We might as well continue with the group we have. We leave Gorax, Imon, Udo and Stellan with Oleg for now and keep their spots warm. When they return they can journey out to find us.

Looks like we bring Vrag and continue to explore around the trading post.

Thanks for your thoughts all. I'm fine holding off on recruitment for a while until we hear more from Gorax and I'm certainly keeping space for Stellan.

Imon PM'ed me a couple of weeks ago and is out to due time constraints and likely won't be back.

We'll stay as is for now.

Hey all. Just a head's up that I'm heading out of town Saturday afternoon until Wednesday the 2nd. Internet connection will be limited or unavailable, so I likely won't be able to post much after tomorrow morning.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

I'm going away for a couple of days and I strongly suspect I will not have phone or internet coverage. Anyone can post for Andrei.

Now that we are back at Oleg's, this would be the time to recruit one or two new PC's. I don't mind NPCing Vrag and maybe one other bandit, but I'd rather not keep up on all of the others. Like those who have left before, previous PCs would become settlers and if anyone decided to rejoin they could pick back up pretty easily.

Any class preferences or other thoughts?

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

A magus would fit with our all-caster party, would help strengthen our front line, and could help me finally learn detect magic. I'd also like to have at least one female PC again.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

I would prefer a paladin or cleric--we are solid on arcane but Warren is the only divine caster and healing is not his forte.

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

Why not the best of both worlds? We have room for "one or two new PCs," after all.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

Well we are down to 3 active PCs---full arcane caster(specialist wizard) -- partial arcane caster with excellent fighting skills (arcane duelist bard)--full divine caster with excellent fighting skills (shaman-druid).

With Vrag as a melee frontliner we probably need another.

To cover our major holes, a trapper ranger or cryptbreaker alchemis (gaining trapfinding) and a cleric or paladin would be my recommendation.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Personally I would go for two people. Let them know what we have but then just take the two best applications no mater what classes they are. If those two character push too hard on pre-established niches ask them to make some changes to fix that.

Can't Andrei teach Anwel detect magic?

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

Most experienced players can construct characters to fit our holes. A martial character and a character with trapfinding are two requests that leave lots of options open. A trapper ranger can satisfy both.

Andrei Avotrus wrote:

Not unless you've got a scroll of it, or a spellbook containing it, handy. You could help me research it, but it would cost 500 gp, would require me to pass both a DC 20 Knowledge (arcana) and a DC 20 Spellcraft check, and would take a week to accomplish. I could probably pass the checks, but that is time and money we don't have.

But it's not important. I only mentioned it as a perq.

Good ideas and feedback all. I'll keep it all in mind when making final selections. At this point I'd agree that 2 new PC's would be ideal and there are a variety of options to fill the skill/ability gaps.

I'll post something in recruitment today and we'll see what we get.

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

Had no intention of making Warren a religious zealot, but when you have seen what he has seen, well, it changes you.

Hey all, if you have comments on which recruits you'd like to see join go ahead and either post here or send me a PM.

Just an FYI, one of those interested, Doc Watson, is interested in playing a chelaxian paladin. He is on maneuvers over the weekend and for the next few days. I gave him permission to get a final character later this week if we want to go in that direction.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

I'll PM comments.

Couldn't send a PM to Anwel, not sure why.

Nor am I. My settings say I can receive PMs, and my inbox is nowhere near full. Just to be sure I'll delete a couple PMs.

Kallista Aerin wrote:

Working on the assumption that the charter bearers are the other PCs, if this is not the case please correct me

All PCs are charter bearers, but not all charter bearers are PCs. Retired PCs, like Tityanna and Gorax, still have charters...I think.

Anwel is correct, all PC's are charter bearers. Retired PC's still do have their charters. However, they're no longer actively engaged in fulfilling the charter, instead choosing to pursue different goals.

This was anticipated by the powers in Restov, thus the issuing of additional charters. ;)

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Just a quick heads up, I'm away this weekend. Additionally work will be very busy until the end of the month and I'll be away most weekends this month too. If I slow to respond please post for me.

Kallista I started to make notes, there is a link in my profile but didn't have time to do much and much of what I have done was from a privious games that was merged with this one a while back.

I've invited Phedre Runario to go ahead and join. I'll bump things forward soon, just waiting to allow new PC's a chance to post.

In the meantime, any thoughts on which direction you'll be exploring next?

I vote for whatever direction the DM is least prepared for! I'm kidding, usually that's the deadliest route...

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

The plan for some time has been to make a circuit of the hexes surrounding Morrowgate. Since they're already mapped (and some of them are in Brevoy), it shouldn't take very long.

Turns out another way of expressing the same meaning would be "Morningway." Anyone mind if I claim this was intentional?

Human Druid(Eagle Shaman) 6 | Per +12(+20 as eagle) AC 11 (15 MA), t11, ff10 (14 MA) hp 47/47 Fort +5, Ref +3, Will +7

I also planned to look at seeing if we can 'add' some of the parts of Brevoy to our control. It is far from their lands, and they may let us acquire it if we map it and settle it. Hence the plans to explore land outside our charter.

It is easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

Welcome to the group Phedre and Kallistra. We should be good to go!!! Sounds like we are leaving Kressle in charge when we leave!!!

Also looks like we are setting up a theocracy.
