Razarak Medvyed |
My first question will be what is his name, what is his quest, what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
I wasn't sure how to put forward the questions asked without being biased, so I was watching carefully.
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
Okay, I am pretty sure that Jacobus and I are not going to see eye to eye on this trial. Just wondering what everyone else thinks, repentant or not?
Razarak Medvyed |
I mean he answered yes to repentant we will just have to keep him gainfully employed, which I think we could easily do, find some job for him, train him and keep him off the streets as it were.
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
Isn't it still morning? I thought we rested for the night before attacking the camp?
Tove Hellstrom |
I believe we arrived at the camp at midday and then Ivo suggested he would scout it out for about an hour. It should be early afternoon right now.
We could spend the rest of the day exploring the area around the camp?
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
You arrived roughly mid-day. link . After arriving in the area Ivo did an hour's worth of scouting before you moved in.
Jacobus Varadin |
"The authority of the swordlords of Restov, and Lord Noleski Surtova, regent of the Dragonscale Throne. Is that enough authority for you?" Raz says as he walks up behind Theodore. "Your days of rampant banditry are over, Edarn."
Psst, psst.
I think you're supposed to be sleeping. :)

That would be correct :)
I really shouldn't be surprised though, he never wanted to go to bed when he was told as a kid.
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
Sleeping characters shouldn't try to roleplay a conversatiin with an NPC.
Razarak Medvyed |
I completely missed the watches part and thought it was still afternoon, my bad all!
Tove Hellstrom |
I'll be traveling interstate from today for the weekend so might not be able to post as frequently as usual. Hopefully it won't hold anything up but feel free to bot me in combat if you need to.
Jacobus Varadin |
FYI, I'll be on vacation from Sunday 6/11 to Sunday 6/25 so my last regular post will be this Sunday morning.
I expect to have internet access the first week (until 6/18) and I should be able to post once per day. However, do not sweat if you don't hear from me. You definitely will not hear from me between 6/18 to 6/25.
Please bot my PC as needed (don't kill him!) :)
Game on!
Jacobus Varadin |
I'm back from vacation but I see that not much is going on. :(
GM: this game has slowed down considerably in the past couple of weeks.
What's the plan?
Is everyone going to be posting once per day or will this be the pace for the game?
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
I think I may be responsible for the slowed rate of posting. I kept on having my posts eaten so I couldn't help advance the story any further. But that issue seems to have been resolved now, so hopefully back on track.
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
Jacobus, pretty much what Theo and Ivo said.
I'm happy to move on at the original stated pace, but that requires the players to do so.
Tove Hellstrom |
I'd be happy to see a return to the original pace. Hopefully we're through the worst of the technical difficulties now.
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
Quick check. Outside of Razarak, whose situation I know, Who all is still active in this game?
I suspect you all are, since you have all posted since Sunday. That being said I will like to pick up the pace a back to what the original intent was, i.e. at least one post a day during the week.
I can try and push a bit more, but I do not wish to take away any of you autonomy as players and put you on the old DM Railroad.
Thoughts? Comments?
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
The derro are not an immediate plot. They very well could be a re-occurring foe that does not have to be dealt with outside of this small cell at this time. Particularly if you solidify your alliance with Thulwar and his people.
That being said there is one more fight down in the cavern and likely a bit more roleplay with Lanyssa and Thulwar as well, but I can only handle half of that equation.
Torsten Bock |
Conversations tend to go faster and be more realistic without every member of the party chipping in each time. If anyone finds themselves the main driver of a conversation in future, please keep going without waiting for others to reply (IMO).

While I agree with you in principal, it's still desirable to get a post from players to make sure they are still engaged.
If your PC is not at the forefront of the encounter, just post a sentence or two with reaction and/or internal thoughts.
This lets the other players know that you are still engaged and just taking a back seat in this particular encounter. Just my two cents.
Tove Hellstrom |
I'm still active, I was just waiting for the conversation to progress naturally. I agree with Torsten and so when Jacobus stepped in to do the healing since Tove didn't really have much else to offer she's been silent.
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
I am still here, been playing Theo a little quiet since his views have been shattered. But will try to speak more.
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
Trying to play Theo more supportive while his pack abilities are being used.
Also it seems ... a little feral.
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
As I warned during the recruitment I intended to alter a number of things from as written in the AP, as the current situation with the deep gnomes and the derro will attest to.
That being said, these changes will alter the leveling points as described in the books and will (assuming we make to the end) change the ultimate level you end up at. The books targeted 17th level for the end. I intend to get you to level 20 prior to the final fight of the AP so that you can have a little fun with capstone abilities should you achieve them.
After this fight with the Derro, and the next time you rest, you will be level 3. Be thinking of what you would like to do for level 3.
Tove Hellstrom |
I'm going to be travelling interstate for a four day conference from tomorrow and probably won't get a chance to post anything while I'm there. Please feel free to bot Tove as required. She still has Divine Favor prepared but will probably use the slot to cast CLW if anyone needs it.
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
Sorry if it felt like I was pushing it along. Also should I be happy or upset that the enemy didn't attack me when I provoked his AoO? Happy as it means I didn't get hurt, upset as it would have meant revealing himself (if it is Vanish or Invisibility).
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
No need to apologize, I was just about to bump the thread before you posted anyway.
I won't comment on the AoO possibility. *evil laugh*
Razarak Medvyed |
A last minute business trip came up and I'm going to be leaving in a couple hours and without internet for 2 or 3 days, feel free to bot as necessary. Also, my intentions are to gain my next level in monk, and will update my entire statsheet when I return as my computer has been without Wi-Fi, so will have to hand jam the stat sheet update,
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
Ivo, next round I shall be attacking with Rufus and then moving him back, so there will be a space for you to get in there. I was hoping to trip him up, but with the terrible rolls, I shall leave it to the combat capable members.
DM Talomyr, if Theo is ever in combat with someone again and they draw a flask and provoke an AoO, he shall target the flask with that attack. I thought I should say now as Theo now wouldn't risk attacking the enemy if he can destroy what they are about to drink / throw. Also you have been rolling the AoO's so it makes more sense for you to know now :)
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
Seems like this battle is dragging on and killing any momentum we have.
Adjxeer is out of effective tricks at this point and is relying solely on his high AC (courtesy of nice armor and a shield extract that has about 20 rounds remaining). Eventually you will kill/incapacitate him and his 1d3 dagger isn't really much of a threat to kill any of you.
Rather than go through the motions of lots of rounds of unsuccessful strikes from both sides, I'm willing to "fast forward" to the end of the fight. Assuming that you all are alright with that plan, what do you intend to do with him? Incapacitate and capture? Outright kill?
Speaking for your NPCs, Thulwar and Lanyssa, they vote for death. Thulwar is alright with quick and brutal. Lanyssa would prefer something slower and lingering.

Agreed to move things along. Jacobus would want to kill him quickly and not make him suffer unnecessarily.
-----------
A couple of 'unsolicited' suggestions to speed things up:
Something you should consider is block initiatives, like what you were doing at the end of the fight where you said 'the party is up'.
Your earlier initiative looked like this at one point:
Initiative Order:
Thulwar
Theodore & Rufus
Tove
Adjxeer
Torsten & Strauch
Lanyssa
Ivo
Derro
Jacobus
Razarak
which meant that PCs were effectively split into four groups in between the different NPCs (Theodore & Rufus and Tove/// Torsten & Strauch///Ivo///Jacobus and Razarak).
If you give PCs 24 hours to post (and you should) then that's potentially 96 hours for 1 round of combat.
If you have the NPCs all act at the same time then you only have to give 24 hours to all the PCs making 1 round of combat last 24 hours.
Another thing you should consider is botting/skipping PCs that do NOT respond in 24 hours.
Just some suggestions...

I'm cool with fast forwarding, also, I'm thinking about adding some teamwork feats down the line, and what with being a pretty mobile character could make it work pretty well and wondering if anyone waa going to be grabbing any as well, see if we can build some tricks.

I will get some feats for 'free' as part of being an inquisitor.
I'll be honest and tell you that I was thinking of taking an archetype to 'remove' them because I'm not very familiar with teamwork feats but now that you want someone to take some, I will.
As stated above, I'll rely on you to let me know which are good but we should work out pretty seamlessly because our PCs are both casters and melee combatants.
Just let me know what you're think of.
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
I am happy for the fast forward, the last thing I want is for this campaign to die as I am enjoying it. Also I vote for a quick, clean beheading. While Theo wants a slower and more painful death for Lanyssa, his aversion for unnecessary pain wins out.
As for the Teamwork feats, I am a Cavalier and will be getting as many as possible. I am attempting to go for a buffing character more than front line fighter and once I reach level 3, that will come into play a lot more.
Razarak Medvyed |
I'm thinking of getting precise strike and outflank, and eventually getting the abundant steps ki power to make it even easier to use those two
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
The next Teamwork Feat I am getting is Pack Flanking, so that Rufus and I are always flanking (once I get the saddle). After that it will be things like Outflank and anything else that people think would work well for our group.
At level 3 I get bodyguard, so I can use my AoO's to give someone extra AC with the Aid Another action.
Theodore "Greyback" Logan |
I am also considering getting Broken Wing Gambit, so everyone can get an AoO on an enemy if they attack me. Maybe even Wounded Paw Gambit as Tove uses Ranged Attacks.
Is the Precision Damage from Precise Strike able to be turned into Non-Lethal damage?
DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |
I don't see anything that would prevent it from being non-lethal damage.
As to the fight. I'll put together a post ending the fight after I get home from work.
