Male Human Cleric 5 / Inheritor's Crusader 1

Went with #2.

+12HP at least covers the +10 from the rage, so depending on how it's ruled, it may save him?

Alexander Kilcoyne wrote:
Isn't 51 damage enough to kill Kevorin outright? 34HP, 10 con, death threshold 44 points of damage. While raging, +10 to that for 54... He has no way to continue rage once he drops unconscious so will die the moment rage ends. Doesn't ferocity mean he falls as soon as he makes his attack, or does he get to stand until the beginning of his action next round?

Per the rules on Ferocity, barring suficient healing, Kev will die at the end of his turn. I haven't decided if I will give him until the end of round instead. If Addie is unable to save him, I will figure out what I want to do, though if I do bend the rules to let him live, there will be some sort of lasting effect. All in all, something I will need to talk to Nazard about.

Sovereign Court

That was my interpretation of ferocity too.

Male Human Cleric 5 / Inheritor's Crusader 1

I guess technically, Kevorin could've deferred to Addie and Valeron and received the healing before acting, right?

HP: 44 /44; 0 non-lethal AC 19; touch 14; flat-footed 16 Fort: +5; Reflex: +5; Will: -1

Well, if Kev delays until after the healers, is that a minor enough fudge to keep Kev with us?

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

Addie goes before Kevorin this round anyway- no fudging needed.

Male Human Cleric 5 / Inheritor's Crusader 1

Perhaps it should be like a CRPG, the killing blow on the King gives Kevorin just enough XP to level, and restores him to full health.

Congrats to everyone on a PbP that reached level 6, that's an impressive feat.

On leveling - would you consider allowing us to retool at all for any of the new material from Ultimate Combat or Ultimate Magic? Last re-tooling window we had was when the APG came out.

Specifically, I was hoping to explore the Crusader archetype from Ultimate Combat for Valeron. He has yet to use anything from the Light/Sun domain (Blinding Flash, Faerie Fire or Heat Metal), so it's almost like he's given up the extra domain all along.

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

I would like to know what UM and UC elements are available and would be interested in some slight re-tooling, potentially.

I'm just as happy to be told UC and UM are off-limits though.

Not too much off limits, just let me know what you have in mind ahead of time, for final approval.

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

Spells for example- case by case or blanket 'yes you can prepare from there'?

Not having studied all of the spells in there carefully, lets go case by case.

Specifically the Crusader archetype, which would net:

* Loss of Light domain (changing his 2nd level domain spell to Zone of Truth from Heat Metal)
* Loss of 1 spell per level (1x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd)
* Gain of an extra feat at 1st and 5th level (which would effectively net as Iron Will and Shield Focus as the two feats since he already has Weapon Focus:Longsword).

Assuming this is allowed (so Valeron ends up with Iron Will), he'd qualify for the Inheritor's Crusader prestige class, which I believe is in the exact adventure we just finished.

While it's not an amazing prestige class, it just seems right given Valeron's a martial cleric of Iomedae in Council of Thieves.

I'm good if it's not allowed, too...

Are we just going to move on quietly from my 'Kevorin died' comment? :P.

Approved.

I'll hand wave it. Kevorin's strike brought the King to 1 HP. So he very easily could have not swung and the out come of the fight would not have changed.

Male Human Cleric 5 / Inheritor's Crusader 1

Posting the level-up here for when we rest since today was a good day to have extra time to attend to PbPs.

Re-tooling:
* Picked up Crusader archetype from Ultimate Combat
* Dropped 2nd domain: Light
* Dropped 1 spell slot per spell level
* Gained Iron Will and Shield Focus feats
* Re-tooled 2 skill points (Heal->Sense Motive, Diplomacy->Know Religion; hope this is OK I overlooked it earlier)

Level 6:
* Advance level in Inheritor's Crusader prestige class
* 2 skill pts: +Heal +Diplomacy (net same prior to re-tool); +1 human skill pt: +Know Religion
* Gain 1d10 HP (no favored class bonus this level)
* Gain "champion of honor" ability (does nothing with no paladin levels)
* Gain "aura of courage"
* +1BAB, +1Fort, +1Will

Here goes on the HP roll...

1d10 ⇒ 10

HP: 44 /44; 0 non-lethal AC 19; touch 14; flat-footed 16 Fort: +5; Reflex: +5; Will: -1

Kev definitely needs a Constitution enhancing belt ASAP!!

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

And/or Raging Vitality feat.

When we first entered the Knot and found the dead elf with the haversack we found five arcane scrolls (all at CL 5) in addition to the Runecurse. Addie was able to ID four of the scrolls at the time (Command Undead, Chill Touch, False Life, and Vampiric Touch) and cast Read Magic to study the fifth scroll when we rested after Wart died (I posted the action in a spoiler and I think it got lost in the shuffle). Any idea what the fifth scroll is?

Ray of Exhaustion

Also, Addie (or rather His Lordship) learns two new third level spells when we level up. I'm looking at two spells from Ultimate Magic: Harrowing and possibly Vermin Shape I Would those be acceptable?

HP: 44 /44; 0 non-lethal AC 19; touch 14; flat-footed 16 Fort: +5; Reflex: +5; Will: -1

Hit points: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Oh well. Could have been worse.3 plus favoured class for 4 new hit points.

Raging Vitality would be nice, but you have to have a 15 Con for it, which he can't get any time soon without a +6 Con belt.

Yet another reason why barbarians with 10 Constitutions are less than optimal. Kev is, shall we say kindly, far from optimized.

Both spells approved.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Kev is updated. 4th level rogue, taking Power Attack as a "combat trick" rogue talent and now he sneak attacks on a charge! Awesome sauce!

Now Kev can rush into melee, raging for a -2 AC penalty, charging for another -2 AC penalty, and flail about with his 10 Constitution. The genius of my character design is truly impressive.

Male Human Cleric 5 / Inheritor's Crusader 1

Glass Cannon prestige class, here you come?

How are we sitting on ability drain for the next rest period's spells... so I know how many 2nd level slots should be dedicated to Lesser Restoration?

And might I suggest, we're at now at the level where it feels like the party pool should potentially include a half-dozen scrolls of Lesser Restoration, so it doesn't take us 3 days to heal all the ability damage we're likely to encounter?

2nd level scrolls cost 75g a pop to scribe (if we have the time).

Possibly might want to consider 3rd level scrolls with Dispel Magic, Remove Curse or Remove Disease - those run 187.5g each... ?

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

1d8 ⇒ 5 HP roll

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

Lets see... Less changes than I thought.

Litany of Sloth switched in for Wrath (I never use that one anyway).
Litany of Defence switched in for Death Knell (had some real qualms about using that one as a Shelynite anyway)
Ghostbane Dirge gained.

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

DM- what am I to do about Heirloom Weapon? I've been using the pre-errata version up till now and the new versions are pretty worthless to me, even before I found the new Glaive.

Edit: Also, purely to have it all in Herolab can I get the stats for the Glaive's intelligence?

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

Last of my excessive double posting. Morghrim now levelled up, everything updated. Haven't yet added Heirloom Weapon.

Will update Addie later this evening. Taking next level of Witch, so Addie will be a Witch 5/Bard 1.

Rolling for HP now: 1d6 ⇒ 4. With CON bonus that's 5 HP.

Will likely use favored class bonus to add another 2nd level spell to familiar.

@Captain Quadruple Post ;)

No problem with the spell choices.

As far as Heirloom Weapon, I'm fine with sticking with the pre-errata version (save for the trait granting proficiency). As Morghrim has benefited greatly from the trait thus far in his career, it is something Morghrim should keep. (You could always have Shelyn's Kiss enchanted later).

The other glaive:

Anvengen's Edge: (Price 11,508 gp - Sell value 5,754 gp, could be more with a good Diplomacy roll)

+1 keen glaive

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

I was sure it was described as +2 keen earlier, was I imagining that?

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

"The glaive is an intelligent weapon that communicates via empathy and is a +2 keen glaive. It has other powers exhibited for worshipers of Asmodeus, at will it will cast bleed on any dying or disabled enemy, also it will cast divine favor on its wielder three times per day."

I'm not sure why I said it was a +2 before. As described in the book it is a +1 keen glaive. Congrats you had essentially inspire courage working for you for last 2/3 of the dungeon.

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

Hurray!

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

To be honest, i'm glad its not +2. Morghrim is very attached to Shelyn's Kiss and would rather enhance it further than use the shiny new devil weapon. +2 keen was just too good not to use it right now.

Now I have to find a way to make Herolab give her +1 to attacks...

Just a heads-up: I will be on vacation from Saturday, June 23 through Sunday, July 1. The place we're going supposedly has NO internet access. Please feel free to 'bot Addie accordingly during that time. Thanks!

Grand Lodge

With AK currently swamped and Max out of town, I assume that we want to the game on pause until they are able, or do we want to move on? There isn't a whole lot left to do other than leave the Knot for book 2, unless you want to go explore the remaining parts of the Knot.

Book 3 starts off with some exposition/roleplaying, so there is not a danger of a combat - unless you guys do something unexpected...no DM plot can survive contact with PCs ya know ;)

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

Maybe we can start to slowly work out the loot while i'm swamped, if Kevorin has the time? Something we'll need to do between chapters anyway I believe.

HP: 44 /44; 0 non-lethal AC 19; touch 14; flat-footed 16 Fort: +5; Reflex: +5; Will: -1

I'll have the time after the week-end, once I'm off work for two months. Do we have a comprehensive list anywhere?

Male Human Cleric 5 / Inheritor's Crusader 1

I'm OK taking our time starting up the next chapter, I know first-hand it can be quite a bit of work getting the next full book started.

Sovereign Court

I just got another stern talking to by my boss so a delay is also fine by me... :(

I'm back! Ready to move on when everyone else is.

Did a quick review of our adventures from the Lord Mayor's feast to the defeat of the Outcast King. Here's a list of the treasure that we recovered:

Ivory box with carved lid depicting army of golems destroying a city wall worth 800 gp (magical glow from inside box)
Brownish-red metal wand

Male Human Cleric 5 / Inheritor's Crusader 1

Oh wow, a wand of Restoration... that's huge!

HP: 44 /44; 0 non-lethal AC 19; touch 14; flat-footed 16 Fort: +5; Reflex: +5; Will: -1

Thanks, Addie. That's a huge help.

Ignoring consumables (which might as well be considered party treasure unless one of us just decides to walk away from the AP and take the stuff with them), it looks like the following folks have already claimed the following:

Addie: pearl of power II (4,000 gp), handy haversack (2,000 gp)
Valeron: +1 defending longsword (8,315 gp), +1 ring of protection (2,000 gp)

Currently assigned consumables:
Addie: Scroll of Dispel Magic, Scroll of Chill Touch, Scroll of Command Undead, Scroll of Ray of Exhaustion, Scroll of Vampiric Touch, Scroll of False Life, Scroll of Detect Secret Doors, Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds (33 charges)
Valeron: Wand of Restoration (11 charges)
That leaves unclaimed:
Intelligent glaive (???? gp)
rope of climbing (3,000 gp)
unknown longsword (???? gp)
+1 cold iron battleaxe (4,320 gp) (not sure if the masterwork component costs double as well, so maybe 4,620 gp) (maybe somebody with HeroLab could check on that)
minor crown of blasting (6,480 gp)
ring of feather fall (2,200 gp)
unknown magic item inside ivory box (??? gp)
brownish-red metal wand

And stuff presumably to be sold:
books (2,400 gp)
Andoren Philosophy book (200 gp)
Osirion journal (230 gp)
Libra Malfactum (400 gp)
1300 gp
Ivory box (800 gp)

The Drowned Jabe and Asmodean Holy Symbol should probably be kept in case they come in handy in the future. The Crux is a definite keeper, obviously. Not sure if the intelligent glaive is worth keeping or not, that's up to Morghrim.

Kev could take the rope of climbing and the magic battle axe.

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

Glaive is to be sold. We need a value on it though and Talomyr mentioned it might be worth more with a diplomacy check?

Price on the cold iron battleaxe is correct, masterwork cost is not doubled.

Morghrim is essentially claiming nothing so let me know how much gold to add to him once all is said and done. Though it looks like not much as Valeron in particular is going to be in debt to the pot for a while. I can wait :P.

Male Human Cleric 5 / Inheritor's Crusader 1

Valeron is likely more interested in the still-unidentified magic longsword, as long as it's not cursed.

I've never really been a fan of the defending property when it's only a +1 enchant - my enthusiasm over a magic longsword is now being able to swing at things with DR/magic

Grand Lodge

So how are we doing? I know Max is back. Alex, things easing up for you yet? I'm ready to go again whenever you all are.
