Deevor would be great, as would Jeremiziah, Stormchaser, and Tanner from Alex's Serpent's Skull PbP, and Navior from our Kingmaker PbP (although Jeremiziah is currently running CoT; don't know about the other three).

However, I'd be just as happy with the five of us as we are.

Hmmm, not sure if that was really helpful or not... Guess I'm abstaining from the vote, but will be happy whatever the outcome.

I may have mentioned this to various people on MSN, but I thought i'd make myself clear with some copy-paste-fu.

I am completely swamped with work for university- i'm posting at 6AM after being up all night working on a damn progress report, and I have a paper on security due in a couple of days. I'm stressed, burnt out and exhausted.

Hence my slower post rate- but never fear, for my next deadline is on friday so I imagine i'll be back to normal posting rate on monday, after my melted brain has cooled down once more.

Sorry for the prolonged absence! I'm finally back from an unexpectedly extended visit to the wilds of northern and central Georgia. I hope everyone had great holidays!

Just a few book-keeping questions regarding our spoils from the Bastards' lair:

Did we ever identify the bracers, silver dagger, and third potion that registered as magical?

Did we manage to sell the recovered items that we were unable to return to their original owners?

How much XP do we have now?

As far as experience goes....well, let's just call it "ding".

Welcome to 4th level.


Okay, so I've been having a bit of trouble getting into Addie's head for the past three levels - trying to figure out what motivates her as a character, her role in the party, and so on. I keep trying to figure out how and why a loner witch who has spent her entire life in the Dead Sector of Westcrown would participate in the Westcrown Municipal Defenders (besides having a Harrow reading imply that taking such a course is what she should do). I think the key factor boils down to her Westcrown Firebrand campaign trait - that she's working to bring change to the city of Westcrown.

With that said, I think I need to make a couple of tweaks to Addie's character. When I created Addie, I defaulted to the Agility patron because that was the one that had the cat as the familiar when we started under the APG playtest rules for the witch. Now I think it would be more appropriate for her patron to be some entity that embodies change - sort of like The Traveler from Eberron's Dark Six. Such a patron would more fittingly represent Deception rather than Agility, so if it's okay with Talomyr I'd like to make that change to Addie (which would only involve changing the 1st level patron-specific spell from Jump to Ventriloquism). Similarly, I think it would be more appropriate to change Addie's alignment from neutral good to either chaotic good or chaotic neutral.

As an agent for change, I see Addie also making changes to herself as situations warrant. In that vein, she will multiclass as a Bard at 4th level - maybe this can be explained as a calling from her patron, or perhaps it's a bit of her Varisian heritage coming to the fore. I know it may not be the most optimal choice mechanics-wise for character advancement, but it just seems to fit the character. Any thoughts from you guys are appreciated.

Given that the mechanical changes are so minor, and on top of that I don't believe that Addie has ever used the Jump spell. Go ahead and make the changes you need to.

sorry about the lack of updating, I have no valid excuse.

I will try to get the update up around 1200, but certainly by 1600 tonight.

And I do want to continue, but to be honest, I am really concerned for Wart's survival in this upcoming "bloodsport."

Cringing at the thought of what a society that worships demons could consider bloodsport.


I've been having trouble getting back into the pace following the holidays as well, but I'm definitely up for continuing.

As soon as everyone is leveled up, we'll start Book 2 (albeit modified).

Why modified? Well as written Council of Thieves goes up to Level 14 at the end....assuming we make it that far, you all will be something north of that.

    As far as character growth, I'm a little rusty from the long break (preceeded mostly by a long combat before that), so we'll see how the new year sessions shape the cleric. He's still mechanically allocating points for qualifying for Inheritor's Crusader next level and taking his 1st level in it at 6.

    Certainly. As far as practice goes you are at the Limehouse ~7-8 hours on any given day (let out of rehearsals ~ 1 hour before sundown) so theoretically you would have time to do a bit of crafting.

    Ok- 61 pages and 13,000 words; mostly generated in the last three days and submitted yesterday. Add to that the software my study ran on crashed due to insufficient testing by the computer science monkeys I was assigned.

    I am mentally and physically drained but I think its a good piece of work. I'm proud to announce my triumphant return to PbP- my posting might still be slow for a month or so but should be much better than the last couple of weeks.

    A visitor from elsewhere drops in to inform you that someone else is attempting that very same spell; specifically, Black Fang. (In his case, an early and unexpected loss of internet access caused him to vanish without warning.)
