Hey, Wart! With respect to tying backgrounds together, if you've ever been to the Ramble Gardens of Rego Cader to collect rare herbs (or purchased them from someone who has been there), then you may have heard of or encountered Ol' Meg or Black Addie, the Witches of Rego Cader.

Black Addie has also taken the Westcrown Firebrand trait. She is particularly distressed by the way members of the nobility have been releasing captives into Rego Cader and then hunting them down like animals for entertainment.

Sounds great actually! Fits in on more than one level.

Question for you DM Talomyr, are there any other fairly run down areas of Westcrown that would be good to have a base for the resistance from? Somewhere with an increased halfling population?

One more, and then just any minor changes you see needing to be made.

Well, 120 gp it is.

Actually the midpoint is 140 gp. -> [(4x1x10)+(4x6x10)]/2 = 140

As he was considered technically property, he was to become a ward of the state until an heir could be found, but he escaped during the Probate Court period.

I don't know if I want to know Wart, but certainly it could be fun to know of Wart. With Val's brief stint lawyering in Westcrown, I certainly would think it comic to recognize the little bugger, even if I was just some scrub paralegal tangential to his case. I could also see the halfling's little "escape" as a possible by-product of neglect on Val's part before he quit the profession. Yeah, I think I'll take that if you want it... the "kid" who left the keys to your manacles a little too close for you to reach, among a dozen other oversights before resignation. You didn't think it was intentional, could be possible even you've joked at what an airhead that "kid" must've been.

Also, I feel a little less "scared" now that our DM went from using Asmodeus as his avatar to what looks like a kindly old man dressed in grey.

Or is he just trying to lull us into false confidence?

Sigh...I'll probably give in if I can have a few days to get a character ready. Your game looks like a blast. When are you starting?

Heh, now it looks like I might be PC-heavy, but that's all right. It just means I can be even more merciless when it comes to killing PCs!

Nazard offered one too many times to you too eh?

I swear it's like a recovering addict trying to fend off a dealer.
(Yes, he got me too...)

"Hey man, I know you wanna try some of this...come on it'll be all good."

First time's on the house. No charge!

Seriously though, one thing to consider - most published material doesn't really work well towards mounted combat, but this game does (especially for the small characters, but I'd really love to see a human on a warhorse actually work for once).

Just a thought while you're tripping...

Funny...a Paladin had crossed mine.

Just a heads-up. Have your characters finalized by Monday evening. I will put up the first post in an in-game thread Monday evening when I get home from work.

Grand Lodge

Ok folks, I just finished typing up the contents of the first post, and let me tell you, it's a beast.

So the to make a long story short, I'm ready whenever you all are ready. If I hear from each of you saying you would like to start before Monday, I'll create the in-game thread and we'll get started.

Male Halfling Alchemist : 4

Ack!

Motivation to finish the last touches quickly!

Kev says, "Hairy old guy start now!", except he doesn't talk like that, so he says, "Yeah, sure. Whenever you want's fine with me."

I might have to buy a new keyboard, I think I just broke mine by drooling all over it.

I'm ready boss, post away.

Male Halfling Alchemist : 4

Okay,

I believe my character is complete, barring final revue.

I did change 1 skill point from appraise to Use Magic Device, and bought the mixin's for converting Enlarge Person to a formulae.

Please tell me if anything in my backstory would need to be changed for story reasons.

If we do meet up in a traditional tavern setting, I would appreciate being able to be milling about as the help. Otherwise, who knows...well DM Talomyr knows, but the rest of us don't.

Also, I did tie in both Black Addie and Valerion Legis in ways that allow for as much or little recognition as y'all are comfortable with.

Aside from all of that...I stand ready to go.

Thanks, and I am really excited about this,

Wart

Had to change the avatar, Asmodeus was appropriate for the game but didn't want to give the impression that I was out to get you.

Keep in mind I only didn't want to give the impression. ;)

Everything looks good. You will kind of have the traditional "you're all in a bar" beginning, but there's twist. As far as interaction/familiarity with another character I'll leave that to you guys.

HP 53/53, AC- 21, Flat-Footed- 19, Touch- 12 CMD 19, Fort- +9, Reflex- +6, Will- +10, Perception- +13, Init- +5, AOO- +9 (1d10+6), Judgement 2/2, Bane 6/6

Well what are we bleeding waiting for, piker? Morghrim's been ready for action fer days now, while ye snivelling wretches were still in training!

Morghrim won't know any of the other characters, the foul-mouthed Dwarf having only just arrived in Westcrown.

Addie's pretty much ready to go, so I'm ready to start whenever you all are.

By the way, will we be needing a calendar? If so, I can put one together pretty quickly - just let me know the starting date.

Looking forward to beginning!

Grand Lodge

Just waiting for Cadwyn/Sully to check in,(I believe he's at a graduation today) and we'll be ready to go.

Addie/Max, as far as a calendar goes, one would be nice.
I don't believe it is critical, but it is a good way to track what's going on when.

If you choose to start one, the Addie is contacted by someone on the 10th of Arodus.

Here's the calendar!

Council of Thieves Calendar

Male Human Fighter 1

Here and ready! Just got home and have a bunch going on, but I'm ready to go!

Cadwyn has been in Westcrown pretty much his whole life, so there is a good chance he might know some of the other characters, at least in passing. We can play it by ear.

HP: 44 /44; 0 non-lethal AC 19; touch 14; flat-footed 16 Fort: +5; Reflex: +5; Will: -1

Kev spent his early career working as an enforcer and muscle for House Jeggare. If any of the other characters have ever had a run in with that House, they might have met him; otherwise, this will likely be the first time.

Male Halfling Alchemist : 4

Just in case it wasn't clear from the smallest representative...I am ready.

Wart.

Cadwyn, with educated warrior (4), int 11 (0) and human (+1) you should have 5 trained skills at level 1, not 4. So your almost ready ;)

Ok folks the game thread is up here. I hope you all enjoy the game.

Hey Sully, Talomyr...if you guys were still interested in making me a character, my druid just backed out so I could definitely use another meleer now.

I'll make a paladin...when is the deadline?

No rush, take your time. They've all gathered in a tavern for some pre-campaign getting to know you RP. Join in whenever you like.

Just out of curiosity, what would the ETA be of said paladin? Not trying to rush you or anything...

Probably tomorrow night. I'm running my RL game tonight, then work tomorrow. Most likely he'll be human as well.

Nazard - Are you still wanting a character from me, or do you have all the characters you need now?

As a DM that regularly runs a group of 9 PC's in RL, I know what a pain a large group can be, I won't be offended if you tell me your game is full. :)

Roll something up. I had a druid pull out and some in the group were looking forward to having a druid along, if that interests you...

A druid....hmmm. I think I might be able to come up with something relatively quick. With the large number of PCs in the group, I might lean towards a druid with the weather domain instead of an animal companion...but then again, I'm kinda fond of the thought of a bear companion too. Choices, choices....

So who's handling the money in this game? I can make another Excel sheet treasure tracker and put it up as a google doc for people if you want.

I think that would be a great idea. I really like the one you're doing for the Kingmaker PbP.

Male Why's it always got to be that way? DM 14

This may be self serving, but I vote for Nazard as well. Great job indeed!

sweet! thanks Nazard!

I did notice one discrepancy though, the last time I checked it, I only saw the leather armor, and not the dog slicers.

And for whatever reason, I cannot check it from work, so it may be fixed as of now...who knows.

Male Halfling Alchemist : 4

I realized that I never gave you a reason Wart has a problem with the government as is.

He is a halfling ex-slave whose primary beef with the government right now are all the uselessly nuances laws. Then of course, there is the slavery part.

Female Human Ranger 1

I just caught up on this game and I have to say...

Naz, those are some of THE WORST ROLLS I have ever seen! Let's hope Cardon fares much, MUCH better!!

Sorry, but I am seriously cracking up over here! Hell of an appraise check, though!

Happy adventuring, folks!! You're a fun read, as I expected :)

Edit: And along the same lines, Alex, bring some of that rolling over to our CotCT game, lol.

You DID see me kick a door off its hinges, a poor gome knocked out with 15 points on non-lethal damage, and your about to see a burly half-orc nearly killed by a single blow of a hammer. I aim to please ;)

True, Kovie is definitely a force to be reckoned with :)

I've definitely seen with my (limited) experience in games with Alexander, that he tends to roll very well with pissed off warrior types. :)

Just a fair warning...I have been moving these last few days, and I am exhausted from that and work and all. If my posts seem to slow down, I do apologize. I will try to post at least once a day, but that my be all I get. I will try to post a few things in a row to keep the game moving, and please feel free to suggest actions, or DM Talomyr to push things along with Wart in semi-NPC mode. I certainly do apologize, and will be more attentive ASAP (looking at being done with moving by Monday, so I shouldn't be out too long).

Thanks in advance for the understand,
