Just a note. I've lost my home computer to technical problems. Will try and get the character ready and join back in.

Sorry to be a bother.

No worries! We can NPC Tyr for you until you're ready if you want.

Good Luck!

Shadow Lodge

Max,

Thanks again for picking up the game. It's fun to be playing Karthas again.

Good to see you're keeping up the tradition of "old guy with a beard" for your DM avatar ;)

Male Human Cleric 2

Sorry, Max - not sure what happened there. I'll look at it today.

Male Human Paladin: 2

I will not be available to post until at least 1630.

Male Human Paladin: 2

DM Max:
Howdy!

I was looking at the stats for horses in the bestiary, and I noticed that under the main heading for horse, it discusses that the posted stats are for a "light horse".

I am more than willing to those stats for a mule. In the paragraph at the bottom of page 177 is says:

Bestiary, Pg. 177 wrote wrote:

The statistics above are for a typical riding horse, called by some a “light horse.” Some horses are larger and heartier, bred for labor such as pulling plows or carriages. These horses are called “heavy horses” and gain the following adjustments to the base statistics detailed above.

Heavy Horse: A heavy horse gains the advanced simple template. In addition, it also gains a bite attack that inf licts 1d4 damage, and its hoof damage increases to 1d6. As with a light horse, a heavy horse can be specifically trained for combat with the Handle Animal skill.

Am I to use the Heavy horse stats? If not, when I get a mount, can I have my mule "upgraded" to these stats? I think that would be cool to have the mule that he raised be "blessed" to be his bond with Erastil.

Also, I do not want to start out the game with the mount combat trained if that is okay with you. That is something I want to push through in game if you don't mind.

Also, I was thinking that his father would have trained the two mules at the outset, Matti (the purchased mule) traied to the general purpose of hard labor, and Gerti trained to the gernal purpose to ride, and an extra trick to work. In both cases, they are not trained to the fullest they can be, but they at least have the training to do the tasks they will be given.

What do you think?

EDIT: Spelling

Hiram:
That sounds reasonable to me. I would say that mules are definitely "bred for labor such as pulling plows or carriages," so giving your mules the stats for a heavy horse would be appropriate. I also think it would be cool to have Gerti become his paladin's mount when the time is right. Great ideas!

Male Human Paladin: 2

DM Max:
Just a heads up then, each of those stubborn molly's (term for female mule) can carry 399 lbs. as a light load, up to 798 lbs as a medium load (reducing speed to 35 ft (6 sq. per turn), and 1200 lbs as a heavy load.

I think I just became the "pack b!$@#" ;-)

Yes. Yes, I believe you just did. ;-)

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

As a completely unrelated, but relavent topic:

The original members of the party had discussed who would eventually fit best into which roles, once we establish our our settlement at the the end of book 1/beginning of book 2 of the adventure path.

Some of this can be determined through roleplay an seeing which characters fit which roles in terms of ability and personality.

Recently, the two most likely "kings" we had, left the group for one reason or another.

Does anyone have any thoughts or preferences on the subject?

Male Human Cleric 2

I'd be best suited to the Councilor role, or that of the High Priest. I say councilor because Jamison has both his feet planted firmly on the ground, and would likely be a good fellow to have keeping a ruler in line as a result.

Male Human Paladin: 2

While I think that Hiram is suited for several roles, I think that I would prefer to wait and see how things turn out.

Cinders would be the best choice for a leader based off mechanics, and personally I was eye-balling the marshall role.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle 2

Cinders isn't the sort to look for or desire a leadership role, but if thrust into it, she could handle it, and once she was committed to it, she would see it through.

Male Human Cleric 2

Max, I fixed my character generation error, removing one from Con and losing 2 HP and 1 from my fort save, which I think is the only alteration caused by that.

Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3

I noticed a mistake on my sheet just now, too.

I forgot to add the druid's +2 bonus from Nature Sense to Knowledge(Nature), and Survival skills.

This puts Euron's Survival at +9 instead of +7 so our chances of getting lost should be slim to none :)

*Bows* Sorry it's taking so long to get the character 'back' up and running. I apologize for my tardiness.

No problem...I'll run Tyr until you are ready/able to rejoin us.

*Sigh* I am loath to report that due to unforeseen problems all of the characters information has been lost.

Is there a link or perhaps a pointer to the current character development rules etc?

I again apologize for being such trouble. *bows*

About Tyr Thordinsjon

Back Ground:
Tyr Thordinsjon is a large and powerfully built man. His life began in a small free hold, the son of a landed Knight and his Lady wife. Raised in a martial house hold, Tyr has been educated in sword as well as the mind. Originally he had hoped to enter the Maritime servises as a marine, there to rise in the ranks and perhaps become a commander of men, like his father.

However, the call for people to head south and extend the bounds of civilization has presented the young Tyr with the chance to 'fast track' his dreams of leading others. He hopes to do much with this opportunity and woe to those who would attempt to stand in the big man's way.

Hardly your fault buddy, its been happening to a lot of peoples aliases over the last few days.

Watching this incarnation of Kressle's sister with interest Max :)

Tyr, like I said in the in game thread, we haven't reached 3rd level yet, so the level 2 version of your character is what is needed.

Alexander Kilcoyne wrote:

Well, since Sully called her 'Kestra' in the original go-round, I thought it only fitting that the real-deal show up to investigate what happened to her little sister. Thanks for the updated version for a party of six, by the way; I've tweaked her just a bit.

I'm going to run a CoT game and I wanted to give everyone here a chance to play if they'd like. Please let me know ASAP. I plan to only run with a party of 4 or maybe 5 at the most, and I have a Rogue slot already filled (most likely).

Thank you for the invite, Jeremiziah, but like Alex I'm currently participating in Talomyr's CoT PbP. But I wish you the best of luck and look forward to reading your group's adventures!

Male Human Paladin: 2

I have an emergency trip to the dentist here, so I won't be able to post tonight.

I do have a set of manacles if we do manage to get her to surrender.

Also, if the other sentries do not surrender, Hiram will continue to fight them unless they try to run away.

Male Human Paladin: 2

Allrighty, back in the saddle folks.

Let's do this.

Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3

Ditto on Talomyr's CoT. Good luck with yours though, Jeremiziah!

I will be traveling for work the next few days (until Friday), so my posting frequency will likely be lower than usual. I will still post, it will just be in the late evenings (US Eastern)

Hi all - today is my three-month old daughters baptism, pretty much an all day event. I won't be around today, as a result.

Ok, so from the Bandit Camp Redux Battle, we have the following:

Off those bandits we killed:
Leather Armor, 7 sets
Longbow, 7
Arrow, 125
Short sword, 7
Trail Rations, 28 days
49 Gp

Off the Bandit leader Kestra 2.0:
Chain Shirt, Masterwork, 1 set
Longbow, Composite (+2), Masterwork, 1
Arrows, 18
Longsword, 1
Dagger (Cat's Eye), 1
Potion (unidentified), 1
21 Gp
Silver Amulet Shaped like a stag's skull, 1

And the gear that belonged to the Bandits that we captured:
Leather Armor, 2 sets
Longbow, 2
Arrow, 30
Short Sword, 2
14 Gp
Trail Rations, 8 days

And from the Creepy Hut in the Clearing, we have:
Dagger, Cat's Eye, 1

Who wants what?

My thoughts are to split the coin from the dead bandits and the bandit leader, keep the arrows, claim what you want, and we dump the rest at Oleg's.

Also, I would like to put forth that we leave the "bandits" with Rani all their gear. I feel that trusting them, and Rani, to refom themselves into useful members of society is far better than treating them like bandits. If we expect more from them, they will step up to the plate. Besides, if they don't...we have several worshippers of a god of the HUNT...they won't get far.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

I wouldn't mind the MW chain shirt, and would even be willing to throw my MW studded leather back into the pot. The MW bow wouldn't be bad either, but I'm sure there is someone in the party that can make better use of it than Karthas.

Male Human Paladin: 2

Not so fast there Karthas, please remember that bow is requiring a +2 strength bonus...so that throws at least me out of the running.

As a note, Hiram volunteered to carry one of the daggers, does anyone else want to volunteer to carry a dubious if not outright threatening item?

Male Human Cleric 2

Jamison could make use of the bow, I believe. He's got the requisite +2 Strength Bonus, and his god is Erastil, so I have proficiency with the Longbow, unless I'm mistaken.

He's kind of a "hulk smash" character, but it surely wouldn't hurt to have some sort of ranged attack available to him. He'll take it, if noone else wants it.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

Max,

Are we still going on this one? Sorry, not meant as anything other than a question, just getting a bit impatient after following AK's game.

Sowwi :P. Tbf mines slowed down too.

Hey Folks! We are still moving on this one, just not as quickly as we all (including me!) would like. Things have been VERY busy work-wise (and I guess that's a good thing, right? But, man I wish it would slow down a bit!) plus I seem to be catching every illness that my kids have been coming down with this Fall. But don't despair, I've been keeping up with AK's KM threads and am anxious to get you all to the kingdom building phase!

Best Regards!

Berwick,

You and your family have my deepest sympathies.

Male Human Paladin: 2

Just wanted to pop in and let y'all know that I am still here, and that I am dealing with the fallout from the memorial/funeral. Sometimes these things get way too involved...and then the family politics certainly don't help.

I should be able to post tomorrow.

See you then.

Me.

*salutes*

Belated best wishes to yourself and yours Hiram Salatin.

Am also still keeping a weather eye on the thread.

Male Human Paladin: 2

Thanks, all.

This last year has been tough. I seem to have an undesirably frequent experience of losing my family members.

I certainly hope that my living relatives will continue to do so for some time, and give me at least a chance of progressing through the stages of grief.

Thank you for your kind words,

I am now back and ready to go.
