Harther has traveled to Restov in hopes of tracking down more information about his father’s disappearance in the Stolen Lands. He views the offer of a charter granting the right to explore the southern wilderness as a fortunate coincidence.

** spoiler omitted **
I can see Eseldra shooting for Spymaster or Treasurer, or perhaps both, since there are more roles than PCs.
RAW pretty sure we're not meant to take more than one role, saw a thread on this in Kingmaker forum.
Hmm two of you sound like your after High Priest; who will be this poor Gnome's councilor, and use their common sense to temper his oratory skills and low wisdom :D
Sully, not posted a motivation because I thought my background covered it, but i'll elaborate a little.
(No point using spoiler tag, Berenkor's not going to be quiet about it)
Berenkor was causing trouble in Rostov as an agitator, and giving the lower classes ideas above their station. Alarmingly, many of the peasants were beginning to flock to his speeches, touting the 'Common Rule' and 'Redistribution of Wealth'. The lords of Rostov were reluctant to make a martyr out of the seemingly fanatical Gnome, so they subtly manipulated him into taking the charter with the hook being
'The Stolen Lands need the Common Rule more than anywhere else; and there are countless slaves to be freed from the brigands, helpless and in need of heroes'
The naive Bard thanked the officials of Rostov for bringing this to his attention and immediately signed up, allowing the hubbub among the masses of Rostov to die down without a vocal leader.

The roles are mainly based off of a particular attribute rather than a skill. The next volume of the campaign goes in depth into the mechanics of it.
The good news is that I've got the first post mostly done, and the game will begin later this afternoon/early this evening!
Just waiting on Desvartes/Tyr to finish things up!
How's it coming along Desvartes/Tyr/Mystery Man?

My first reply may be a little delayed- I am travelling back to the UK from Thailand in 12 hours, and its roughly a 15 hour trip. Assume Berenkor is being vocal with someone and ranting about the Common Rule if I don't make the first few posts lol...

Clicky, clicky! Let the game begin!
I haven't heard from Desvartes/Tyr, but I think we're all itching to get started. I'll work him in once we hear from him. I'll give him until Sunday or so before we decide if we need another.
I will be busy a good chunk of the day tomorrow, so feel free to have your characters ask any questions, take care of any business in town, and get to know each other. I'll try to post at least once or twice tomorrow, but posting will increase over the weekend.
Thanks again for the interest in this game, and I look forward to seeing you guys starting to post! Any non game questions, mechanic things, etc. we can still use this thread for.
Here we go!
Edit: Believe it or not...the first post took FOREVER!

OKay, first chance I've had of giving a quick edit over Tyr. Um, as for back story? Yes, he'll still be going off into the Holy Warrior (Tweaked Cleric class) but his aim? Create a steading and raise a castle. Good old fashioned bringing order to the wilderness stuff.
Ah, brings back memories of playing the old 'Basic' D&D. ;)

If thats the one in the campaign setting, that was compared to the 3.5 Cleric... the PF Cleric has proficiency with deity's weapon anyway. If it's the one I think it is it was crazy OP anyway; d10HD for a full caster? Madness
See you on the PBP soon; just got back from a day from HELL of travelling and need to sleep badly.

For the player that plays Tyr, check the Toughness feat carefully- its 3 extra HP flat until 4th level when you get the +1 per level.
Also, you've spent 6 skill points (4 + 1 Int + 1 human); assuming you took favoured class fighter you can have an extra skill point or hit point.

Tyr,
Please do not take this as an attack, it is not meant as one, and is for my clarification as well.
You show your primary attack being +7 with 2d6 + 5 damage. Unless something has changed that I've missed between 3.5 and Pathfinder, the 1.5 x STR modifier applied to a two-handed weapon applies only to damage and is rounded down. So you would have:
To Hit = +1 BAB +3 STR +1 WF = +5
Damage = 2d6 + (3x1.5) = 2d6 + 4.5 = 2d6 + 4
As I said, this is for my clarification as well, if I'm incorrect, I'll simply update Karthas.
Also,
Your Reflex save should be +0.
(+0 for 1st lvl Fighter, +1 for trait, -1 for Dex)
On the positive side, the chainmail you are wearing should be a +6 armor bonus instead of the +5 you have listed, so your AC should be
10 + 6(armor) -1(dex) = 15. Unfortunately, the medium armor means that your movement is 20 ft. instead of 30 ft.

You have the to hit correct I can assure you. I think Tyr's feeling the wrath of the rules lawyer players :D
But it's not an attack on you at all :) it sounds like you've come across from earlier editions

Sorry for not actually catching up on player motivations, either.
Tyr quite simply wishes to build 'something' worth while out in a place where others seem not to be able to do or carry such a task.
Hence his background as a Fighter, but his skill at Engineering and Profession as a Mason. He hopes to raise a defend-able all and surround it with an equally defend-able wall. Nothing much, just a nice simple home building life. ;)

Sounds good, Tyr.
Two things:
1. You guys are an awesome group! Thus far, I'm having a blast rolling with you guys. I'm looking forward to this really picking up.
2. I have a bunch of house rules, so if you guys catch me doing something that seems confusing, by all means call me out on it. I won't run any of our weird little house rules unless I bring it up in this thread and we're all on board for it. I'm all about constructive criticism if it makes the game better.
That's it. Happy gaming, and please let me know in this thread if there's anything about my style you'd like me to change or work on. It's all about having fun here.

This is a good group of players, certainly, and Sully, you're doing a fantastic job!! I'm enjoying reading your exploits at work - keeps me busy :)
I haven't ever done a PbP game before, but I'd like to start - are there any good threads around that any of you know of explaining the basics? I can't seem to find where the new games are announced, either...
Sorry to interrupt your dialogue, carry on! :)

Hey thanks, Jeremiziah! I appreciate that. I looked to see if I could find a great thread that I've seen before on these boards regarding the basics and pros and cons of PbP, but I seem to have misplaced it. I'll look a little better later when I'm not at work (I own my own business but still have to get SOMETHING done...as much as I'd like to sit here and game all day haha).
I'll post it here later if I can find it! Happy gaming! If things keep going smooth here I may (key word MAY) decide to run a CotCT game on here, too. Keep an eye out!

Sorry about my slow posting rate. I normally post two or three times this much but Easter Week-end plus bad head cold have screwed with my posting schedule. Should be back to normal today.
No worries...I'll have off and on slow times, too, so just because I don't post for a few hours doesn't mean I'm gone for good. I own a business, am attending classes, and play music in a band so it is amazing to me that I make time in my life to keep gaming!

I was actually able to post using my Blackberry's built-in browser (not sure what it is other than that...version or anything) but it was painful, to say the least. I hadn't thought of trying Opera but will look at it.
I have an iPod Touch (not iPhone, yet) and posting from Safari on that device is actually pretty easy, though the Paizo forums are a bit slow.

I did about the same thing with a GURPS adventure I'm putting together for my group to play in the future. Funny thing, though, is that it was better when I reconstructed it the second time around. Sometimes it's good to lose data...because you also lose all of those things you've been so attached to you won't consider changing them. :)
BTW, speaking of new material, I just got notice of KM #2 shipping soon. Going to be sad to put it on the shelf in the shipping envelope. BUT worth it to get to actually play in a game for a change. :)

I hear ya about putting KM#2 on the shelf, but at least I'll have classic treasures and adventurer's armory to keep me occupied :)

If I may...something that works very well with the PbP game I'm running, is to identify in big bold letters the beginning of every new round, and have everybody begin their combat action post by identifying which round it's for.
For example:
Round 4:Eseldra casts quickened wish making herself a new goddess who quickly smites all bandits in existence everywhere.

I agree. I try and do this most of the time anyway, but i'll start bolding it.

I wanted to toss a suggestion in here. As this adventure is heavily dependent on character action, why don't you either designate the next several hexes you will explore, barring something changing, or designate a party "guide" who can make decisions as to where you head next.
If we wait for a party consensus before you move every time, this game will bog down quickly.
Of course, it's your game as much as mine, so the decision comes to you guys, but that's just my two cents.
:) You can discuss here OOC if you want, or in character in the game thread.

I am happy to take the responsibility for directing our movements ;)
I seem to be the most frequent poster anyway.
I've got no problem with that! My only request is that we try to track down the mites that stole Svetlana's ring. According to the bandits, they are located somewhere east of the bandit camp.
