yes, she is a tough old b@*%@ when it comes to getting her summons off. Don't worry, I completely re-built her from the AP and made her tougher just for you guys.
You should walk through the rest, but she will not be so easy. At least you suprised her so she doesn't have all of her defensive spells up.

DM Stephen: Sent you a PM. Just making sure you see it. ;)

Starting a big job today that will keep me pretty busy for at least the next 5 days, so my posting will be slower than normal. (and likely restricted to evenings only, my local time ;)

I will try and post once each day, but please DMNPC Nim if needed.

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

I forget, how are we doing it with stabilization? Just spoiler the roll, and wait until the next turn to display the resulting hp (along with another spoiler'd roll if necessary)? Keep it all spoiler'd until healed? Something else?

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

I'll be out of contact until the very end of July, due to a trip to Kiev followed by days spent packing up the flat i'm living in here in Ukraine followed by a 3 day bus journey back. Its easier to just declare my absence now rather than try and keep up with things during this busy time. Roll on August!

Most of Aedalis' decent spells have been cast. He has a Ray of Enfeeblement he'll use against any potent melee threats that might get near but primarily he'll focus on keeping Nim's Ward and Fortune up and using Aid Another actions to improve his AC when he has the standard action spare.

Thanks for the update on the skeleton. I make a point to avoid looking at the Bestiary entries for creatures I am fighting in PbP, so I am pretty clueless on what I needed to actually connect with them. :)

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

So, how are we doing it with reach weapons on the diagonal in this game? It's been too long and I can't remember the ruling, sorry.

I am heading out on an extended weekend of fishing and camping in the wilds of northern BC. Communication with the world will be severely limited. I will be "dark" from Friday until Wednesday. Please DMNPC Nim as needed. :)

His plan is to grapple the hag next if he lives long enough! :)

Good luck guys!

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

Awww. That's two gone now! I hope it goes well for you both.

With both players out I am inclined to stop at Nim's turn until he get's back? Or would you rather I roll for him and get this massive battle over with?

I agree on waiting for Nim to get back. I think that he's been roleplaying it to the hilt and deserves the satisfaction of doing it himself. :)

For some reason, this just tickled me. Are they curled up together? Is Cannibal 9 sucking his thumb in his slumber? Is the Shiv Dragon rolled on its back, legs twitching from a dream of chasing prey? :)

You have seen the Lizards claw twitch once or twice...of course the thought of it actually waking chills your characters to their bone... :]

Ta. Forgot about the dagger. Updated now.

DM, the new spells- were we to add them to our respective "spellbooks" yet or does that come later?

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

Looks like the wand of vampiric touch (4 charges) is between Tragershen and Aedalis. Who wants to use it for now?

Cheliax

I would think it makes more sense for Corb to carry it, as he actively seeks out melee combat.

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

Didn't realize it was on his spell list, but you're absolutely right. In a pinch, he could draw it and use it to deal damage and regain hitpoints at the same time. Motion seconded!

Which spells are you talking about Alex?

Since he was just reminded about old stuff by looking at the loot log, I'm gonna guess Azlanti luck and Azlanti glue. ;)

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

Bingo.

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

Re-updated the loot log. There was a lot in the camp description.

Easy: a potion of CLW to everyone, Tragershen gets the scroll creation materials, and Anton holds the coins and gems. Aside from that, Anton would like one each of an antitoxin vial, smokestick, and tanglefoot bag. Perhaps oddly, he doesn't want the thunderstone; he thinks that someone who actually knows something about magic would know better when to use it.

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

Actually, after seeing how a smokestick inhibited the witch, it might be better for peeps who know more about magic to have both of those. Such as, I don't know, maybe including Aedalis. So aside from a potion of CLW, that just leaves Anton wanting an antitoxin vial and tanglefoot bag.

Fredrik wrote:

I was assuming you were waiting for Tragershen to be able to take those spells into his book then make you a couple of scrolls so you can feed them to your dino? You finally have the materials to do it now so he could scribe them tomorrow and then the next day make the scrolls if you wanted...

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

I'll take the smokestick if there are no objections. My spring-loaded wrist sheath makes it easily accessible.

Noted the CLW.

Yeah, i'll have to rely on Tragershen to make scrolls for Aedalis to feed Tilsini if hes up for that.

Elven Wizard 5 HPs 27/27 AC 18 FF 14 T 14 CMD 16 Fort +3 Ref +5 Will +4 Init +4 Per +7

Absolutely. For someone teaching Tragershen the Azlanti language, it is the very least he can do! I haven't caught up on the IC thread yet this morning, but if we are going to stay at camp for any period of time, Tragershen will start with Azlanti Luck and then move on to Azlanti Glue. Finally he would work on Vanish. Once we hit 3rd level, Summon Swarm.

I think the wand going to Corbius is a great idea. If he doesn't want it for some reason, then Tragershen is willing to carry it.

Edit: I just read your IC solution to captured familiars and I think it is actually quite brilliant. It makes a mechanic that is roughly analogous to capturing an enemy spell book. If I end up running a game with a witch in it, I'll definitely steal that.

And thanks for the heads up about wizard foes coming down the pike at some point. Being in an AP on a remote island and going to a deep jungle can leave one wondering about that, and I have made a point to not read the AP so I didn't know... :)

Thanks for not reading! I have changed quite a bit in the AP anyways, at least the first one and plan to do the same for the second. I don't like the intro to that one either.

Almost all of the Serpentfolk are wizards, which will be good for you and Aedalis.

Also expect to see more Azlanti items. With there being ancient ruins, I plan to keep putting in some cool items for everyone in the party to find. Most of them will be custom, although based on normal designs.

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

Anton makes a mental note learn Spellcraft. Say, Tragershen, it looks to me like you might not have to wait for 3rd level to add summon swarm to your spellbook. All that the rule on pg. 219 says is that you have to make a Spellcraft check of DC 15 + spell level. Your two free spells when you gain a level have to be of spell levels that you can cast, but it doesn't say anything like that for copying spells from a spellbook or scroll. (It also doesn't say that for independent research, FWIW.)

Okay, so with our cornucopia of alchemy, we still have to distribute 2 antitoxin vials, 1 smokestick, 2 tanglefoot bags, and 1 thunderstone. I'm thinking that Nim and Corbius would be good candidates for the other two antitoxins (Anton already claimed one); since Tragershen has one from Larissia, that would just leave Aedalis and Mihai without any.

Tragershen holds any unclaimed potions by default, so we don't even have to think about the two of lesser restoration. Perhaps we should also make him the default holder of alchemical items, just in case not enough people want them?

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

Aedalis doesn't really have the dexterity to land ranged touch attacks reliably so I didn't claim any further alchemy.

Did you note I claimed the smokestick though? Its on my character sheet now.

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

Sure did! Before distributing stuff, Malikadna's workshop had 3 antitoxin vials, 2 smokesticks, 3 tanglefoot bags, 6 potions of CLW, 2 potions of lesser restoration, and 1 thunderstone. (And the scribing materials.) Everyone got a potion of CLW, you got a smokestick, I got an antitoxin vial and a tanglefoot bag. The rest is still to be determined.

I'm thinking that Tragershen might be the best choice for the thunderstone. Good Dex that only needs to hit a square with AC 5, good Spellcraft -- to tell when someone really needs to be shut up -- and sad to say, but low-level wizards often run out of better things to do. I think that makes him a good candidate for one of the tanglefoot bags, too.

Do you think that it would be better to spread the smokesticks around, or should we treat Aedalis like a specialist who knows how to use them the best? Since he actually started with one.

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

Happy to spread them around. I'll be saving my treasure share like a miser anyway.

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

I assumed that we wouldn't count consumed items? I like DM Stephen's proposed system where all of the loot that we have left when we get back to civilization is virtually sold, and then if you want anything, you can use your virtual share to buy it at the wholesale price (half of retail) before anything actually goes to market. Or at least that was my interpretation.

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

Yes that is the system we're using; we use it in KM and quite a few other games together. If we want to exclude consumables from that, I don't have any particular objection.

Male Halfling (Molthuni) Barbarian 1 Ranger (Trapper) 3

Alright. It sounds like I'm proposing something new, but not objectionable. Maybe I'm just channeling my character, but when we're out in the wild, I don't want to make an artificial incentive for people to hold back from using something that could save our butts. So, that was why I assumed that we wouldn't count things that people expended to keep us alive against their share of what we brought back. ;)

HP 39/30, AC- 11 (15 MA) T- 11 FF- 10 (14MA), CMD- 12, F +6, R +4, W +7, P +7, In +5

Honestly, i'm not fussed either way. The system works fairly well whether it includes consumables or not. Unless someone has strong objections, lets not count them.

Corbius will happily take the wand and the CLW potion. :) Thank you.

Corbius would like to take this short interlude to remind everyone that he is a spell caster as well and hopes that he may also share in the spellbooks when they start to show up.:) He at least hopes that they may scribe some scrolls so he can learn some new spells.

Absolutely. If you need me to scribe scrolls so you can... I guess... burn them and... feed them to your sword? Shove them in your scabbard? Sure. Because once you start scribing scrolls to have them fed to lizards and rodents, well, its a slippery slope. :)

But seriously, we can both copy spells from captured spell books without any problem. And if we capture scrolls that are on both of our spell lists, Tragershen can add it to his book and turn right around and scribe it for you on a scroll. We can split that expense to keep it fair.

Oh, so you think that you like that, do you? Well, guess what: you also get an antitoxin vial and a tanglefoot bag. So, ha! Take that!

And Nim, you get an antitoxin vial too!

Oh, and Tragershen? You're the most burdened of all. A smokestick, a tanglefoot bag, a potion of CLW like everyone else, both potions of lesser restoration, the thunderstone, and the scribing materials. Hahaha! How will you ever handle the responsibility?!

Sorry, got a little impatient. If anyone actually wants something, just say so -- because otherwise Anton gets rather assertive in making sure that things go to people who can use them.

Suggestion, you might wwant to give one of the potions to Mihai since he is the group healer :]

I like the way you reason. Healing potions can either go to me or the healer. It may not be best to have all with me, just in case I fall down a cliff or get carried off by a mountain devil or something. And, this last battle not withstanding, I try to avoid melee as much as I can...

I'll update Tragershen's character sheet later this weekend after others have a chance to chime in if they see reason to. Right now it is Seafair weekend here in Seattle and my wife and I are getting ready to get out of the house for a while!
