The acid runs down into Silas's eyes, temporarily blinding him with a stinging pain that fills his eyes with tears. Silas, we'll see what everyone else wants to do, but are you also going to risk the AoO and try to (blindly) move away or just escape the grapple?

Trying to avoid shooting Silas, Suny's crossbow shot flies harmlessly over the creature, rattling into a corner of the cultists's chapel.

That's correct, I was thinking it only affected you for one round, but it was three.

Mishael, we left Silas fighting the creature, we must make sure he is OK, take BF and care for his sightless eyes. says Kariselle as she moves back down the tunnel, with the intention of returning with Silas, but not engaging.

Suny will be completely defensive and using acrobatics to try and stay out of the critters way while she gets her swords off Silas.

Acrobatics:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

Total defensive gives something like a +2 to AC, yes?

Actually, if I'm reading it right. Suny should be at something like AC 19 with total defense, high dex and that good acrobatics roll?

Actually total defense is +4 to AC, so it helps more!


Silas breaks free of the creature's grip and scrambles backward. One last tentacle of eyes and mouths shoots out trying to grab its prey before he can get away. The mouth tears at his leg, but Silas is able to free himself and break away.
Attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 for 1 hp
Grab 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Everyone retreating now? To the secret door?

Bye nasty tentacled thing .... getting the hell outta this place.


The party rushes through back to the secret door and slips inside, shutting it tightly behind them.
Marching order and plans for light in the tunnels? Mishael has darkvision if you want to take advantage of that.

Bloody would prolly be 2nd or 3rd. He's rushing out but he doesn't want to be first.

I guess its Karsielle and Suny last as usual. Karsielle will cast light on her dagger.

Silas wanders blindly for a moment before his vision finally starts to clear.

"Damn but that was a nasty thing. Does anybody know what is was?"

He allows Mishael to lead, hanging in the back to make sure that their retreat is covered.

"Nuh-UH! It were big an' nasty an' tentacly an' slimy an' slobbery an' all weird lookin!" Suny exclaims to Silas, even as she glances over a shoulder to see if the thing is still following them out into the street.

"We's gots ta' get some more firepower ta' take that thing on! Plus..I still in't feelin' too well..."

So....how far do people want to keep running? Also, how soon before any one else in the street notices not just the party running, but the state in which the party is running in?

"See anything up ahead? We got to the end of the tunnel yet?"

We'd best be a bit circumspect cos we don't know where the tunnel ends, I would think we'd slow down to make sure it's all clear at the end of the tunnel.


...and we're back!

Mishael leads the way into the tunnels. "I'm just glad we're out of there. I have no idea what it was, but I thought it was going to be the end of us."

Suddenly, she puts up a hand, barely visible in the dim light from Karsielle's spell. She whispers, "There's some kind of room and tank up ahead. I can hear the sound of water too."

Suny wriggles past people.

"Water? Where?" She whispers...

Perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 (See 4X better than humans yadda, yadda)


Suny, you think you see the glint of Karsielle's light reflecting off something on the floor ahead. It is too dark to see more.

"Here, can ye move the mote a tad closer? I still can't see me feet in front of me nose..." Sunny continues to edge forwards, peering intently into the darkness.

Perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 (Not sure if there are penalties for doing it again so quick. Still)

Also...didn't this tunnel lead out side as an 'Escape route'?

Bloody peaks around with Suny, and does a quick detect magic on the area just in case.

That's one potential conclusion.

Suny is pretty sure she can make out some water on the floor of the tunnel ahead and now that the light is closer she can see the wall of a cistern or other tank ahead, possibly in a room. Bloody Flag does not detect any magic.

"There be a...big thing of water..." She creeps forwards slowly, letting the others move in behind her and hoping that the make-light moves closer to what every one wants a look at.

"Not sure I like the sound of this," says Karsielle, "why have a tank of water up there. Go carefully Suny." as Karsielle give Suny her dagger to see. Light is cast on the dagger.

"Maybe we have a short respite. It didn't seem very quick."


You creep further forward and it is apparent that the tunnel opens into some sort of room with a giant cistern or water tank stretching nearly from wall to wall. Sludgy water covers the floor although it only stretches partway into the tunnel. A constant burbling of water can be heard coming from the tank.

Suny scoots closer...eager to check out the water...

Perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

"Watch out, t'is slippery!" She whispers back to her friends.


The water is too murky to see the bottom and you don't see anything else of note in it.

How fresh is it? Is there a current? What's the murk possibly caused by? What's the sound possibly caused by?

Suny kneels down and gets a closer look at the water.

Knowledge Engineering:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Knowledge Geography:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17


Suny is pretty sure the water is just clouded by mud and muck from the walls and floor. She has also heard that some wealthier houses in Freeport have pumps to deliver water to different parts of the house and is pretty sure the burbling may be related to such a pump.

"Hmmm...I wonder where it goes..." She mutters to herself quietly then looks around at the rest of the room.

"Okay, where'd tha' other peoples go, then?"

Karsielle waits as Suny excitedly takes a look at the water.


Suny doesn't see or hear anything else. You'd have to squeeze past the tank to see if there is anything beyond it.

"Give us a moment." Suny asks her friends before slipping (Climbing into the edge first?) into the waters of the tank and having a look around for anything the bad guys might have hidden within it's depths.

After a look around for stuffs, back to the party and then some squeezin' past things to see where the trail leads. (^_^)


Suny dips over the edge of the tank. The water is close to the edge and shows evidence of recently overflowing. A pipe leads upward, but she doesn't see anything in the tank. It is too dark to see past the tank. Even with Suny's vision, the light does not penetrate the darkness of the room enough to see past.

Yeah, didn't think my roll would be enough for anything.

Suny pops back up after a moment, "Nuthin' here." She explains, slips out of the tank and thence gets ready to continue on along.

So, we heading onwards, then?

Assuming there is an onwards to go to, then yes.


With some light from Karsielle, Suny can make out that there the room the tunnel has opened into continues on the other side of the cistern. It appears to be a root cellar. Squat wooden tables with moldering legs hold several crates off the sludge-soaked floor. Lashed to pegs driven into the wall hang oversized burlap bags. Hams, sausages and other smoked and salted meats hang from a ceiling rack overhead. In the far corner, a set of steep, crude wooden stairs climbs up.

Suny skips over to the stairs/ladder and quietly creeps to their top. (And hopefully to the doors there)

Not a regular door, but Suny does find the outline of a trap door at the top of the stairs. From above (not in the immediate vicinity of the trap door), she can hear the sounds of shuffling feet as though there are a number of people moving about.

"Here! There be a way ta some place else, but there be....shufflin' afoot..." Suny whispers down to her companions.

"See if you can take a peek Suny" whispers Karsielle.


Suny, you can't make out anything more about the sound, but it continues. With Suny calling attention to it, anyone else who has moved past the cistern can hear it too. Only the burbling from the tank makes it somewhat difficult to hear.

"Well...here goes..." Suny whispers even as she put a shoulder to the trap-door....lifting...
