Nicatha and Ylrhea are confused for 8 rounds. Roll a d100.

And poor Skaar is missing the cat fight.

Can Mortimus command the ogre skeleton to stomp around in that corner until it figures out what square she's in?

Yeah, make an attack at a square. 50% miss chance.

Having become visible from casting his spell, the Damphir spoke, "Qeelak Rifstejar," and disappeared once more. Being invisible again, Drago moved along the wall, waiting for the Elf to appear.

Cast Invisibility and move to P-15.

Mortimus directs his skeleton to maul the area the drow is hiding in.

Oh, tell me the order of squares you are attacking there, Mort. One of those is a miss.

Attacking individual squares would take forever that's why my initial suggestion was to have him move around until he ran into her.

Mortimus would like to have the skeleton move across the bottom half of the room back and forth until he's run out of movement or he runs into an invisible person.

I'm trying to figure out how that would work...

The skeleton steps left and down, stumbling into the invisible elf. It attacks the woman, but fails to connect with its claws or jaws. The woman moves away and attempts to cast another spell. She'll provoke from the skeleton.

Cast Defensively: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

A bright spray of colors emerges from a spot behind the skeleton showering Mortimus.

DC 15 Will, Mortimus.

Round 4: Drago, Nicatha, Ylrhea, Mortimus, Vaeleus

Nicatha and Ylrhea are still confused for 7 rounds.

AoO: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

How dusty is the floor?

Mortimus commands the skeleton to continue its assault on the elusive target.

"I tire of this game. Your magic cannot hide you forever."

Floor is pretty dusty, Drago.

*Rubs hands together and grins maliciously*

Drago waved his hands around, building up a swirling current of air. The Damphir thrust his hands forward and said, "Suaco." Out of nowhere, the wind violently picked up, kicking up dust towards the spot where the magic spray originated from.

Cast Gust of Wind. Being is the Elf is medium size, she only needs to make a strength check vs DC 15 to move towards me. But, the plan is to get her covered in dust, and become visible.

Drago calls up a whirlwind of dust, while Ylrhea does nothing and Nicatha smacks herself in the face hard.

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

Drago's trick allows Mortimus' skeleton to hit without fail and finish off the spellcaster.

Combat Over

Seeing the She-Elf's battered corpse oozing blood, the Damphir had to fight the urge to go and drink it. Never drink from the dead. Mother always warned him. But what if......? Composing himself, the Sorcerer moved to the corpse, wiped some of her blood on his fingers, and licked them. Drago shuddered and inhaled sharply, while it did not give him any strength, it did help stave off the burning thirst that had been plaguing him since Nicatha came to them.

Mortimus laughs as the drow woman crumbles to the ground. "Illusion and enchantment - the magic of weak fools."

The disfigured priest sweeps the room, searching for magical auras.

Detecting magic.

I dispute that damage. My unarmed attack is 1d3. How could I hit myself for 1d8?

Well, you are standing by a stone wall.

EDIT: Plus, it's in the spell description.

I still dispute the idea that it would more than double my potential damage output, but I bow before written rules.

1d8+STR is the damage listed in the spell's effect. So that's where it came from. In reality, people who aren't in control of their mental faculties tend to be stronger than they usually are, since they can't keep themselves in check. The wall could also be a plausible explanation. You don't have to confine it to a single hit either. A person can do a lot of harm in 6 seconds. One roll merely abstracts what may be going on.

Any magic detected?

I'm at work :P

Oh. Carry on then.

I'm suddenly missing Skaar. =(

I'm trying...

You find...:
A potion of cure moderate wounds, a scroll of dispel magic, a wand of fox's cunning (9 charges), a dagger, an amulet of natural armor +1, a cloak of resistance +1, a ring of protection +1, a spellbook, and 303 gp.

Seeing the Cleric find something, Drago said, "Let us divide what we have gathered. It may help us with later encounters." Looking at his once fine cloak, he added, "Wasn't there a red cloak on one of the other Drow?"

That's evocative reasoning. It makes more flavorful sense to me now.

I think this is the first enchanted cloak we've found.

"Perhaps but this one is enchanted", Mortimus explains.

After commanding it to be still, the Kuthite slips the enchanted ring onto one of the skeleton's bony digits. Nabbing the ring +1.

"Take what you will. There's more of this place to explore."

Was there more to the south?

No, it's the second cloak you've found. This room ends in a cliff. You can't see much below.

Ah, I suppose I should update the loot sheet again.

Not terribly interested in trying to climb down at the moment, Mortimus gathers his minions and heads northeast.

Okay, so just to be clear, I have the Ring of protection +1 from the last group, a cloak of resistance, and the scrolls. Correct?

Yup. I've got the sheet updated now. There's still an amulet of natural armor +1 and cloak of resistance +1 floating around if either of the ladies want them.

How much damage will I do to myself before the confusion wears off?

I figure Mortimus and Drago can restrain you and Ylrhea since you're out of combat.

Mortimus will delight in the act. >=)

I bet.

"Snap out of it", the Kuthite chides as he restrains Nicatha. "There's no way the dark elf's pathetic magic could hold anyone for long."

"Don't underestimate dark sorcery, Cleric." Drago retorted. It can do very unspeakable things.

After getting the two women under control, you head northeast and to the next area. This large chamber is obviously a chapel. An altar at the far end of the chamber is flanked by two statues of warriors clad in plate and wielding battle axes. A small rotting iron‐bound coffer stands on the altar. Grey sludge covers much of the floor and in several places unhealthy‐looking black mold grows in thick patches.

Mortimus wrinkles his nose at the condition of the chapel. "It's filthy."

Religion to identify who the chapel is dedicated to: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Mortimus can tell the chapel is dedicated to Gorum, god of battle.
