The goblin horde has been shattered. Sandpoint's heroes have proven themselves capable, but will they be able to defend their home from the things that lurk in the dark.

My turn as I delayed. Revising action.

Olivius sees Pavanna brace, then go stiff. From behind he hears Horatio gasp and then go silent. Something was very wrong.
Olivius recognizes the maneuver. He needed to clear the Anvil, but Pavanna...

The vile screeching monsters merely flit out of the way of Olivius' charge, which ends with Pavanna up to her waist in water as she falls into the fountain.

Then it's their turn as they swoop in to bite at the human that has defeated their cries of death, but fail to even scratch his armor.

Meanwhile, Korvus stands against Noro, taking the hit to his jaw with a deep, rumbling, monstrous laugh.

"Korvus show little girl how to fight good," he howls before slashing and stabbing at her. Noro ducks the longsword and sidesteps the dagger, but only for the handaxe to catch her in the side and rip a bloody gash just below her ribs.

Noro Takes 6 slashing.

Let the retconning commence!

"Really, Noro? Is that the best you've got?" Horatio laughs, fighting down his own fear, masking it with bravado. Freeing one of his hands with a spot of bow-juggling, he moves up behind the barbarian, waiting for her to strike before whistling sharply, a quickly-rising note accompanied by a flick of his wrist, and a puddle of slippery grease appearing beneath the mutant goblin's feet.

Move up behind Noro, then cast grease on the squares lined on the map. DC is (ugh) 14. Continuing the assumed performance as a free action. Not much of it left!

Unable to move under her own power, Pavanna can’t even steady herself after Olivius barges her forward into the fountain. She’s only thankful that she remains upright: though the water may only be waist-deep, in her current state it would be far too easy to drown if she toppled.

Forcefully, horribly reminded of the day at the canal, panic rises within her, and she has to struggle to control her breathing for a moment. Your feet are already on the bottom, girl: you can sink no further. All you have to worry about is being locked rigid within your own body while a pair of vargouilles roam the room, free to strike at you or your friends with impunity. No reason to lose your head!

With that half-quip to steady herself, she casts a rueful thought back at Olivius: I understand the exigencies of our circumstances, my friend, but still I wish you could have found a gentler way to clear your fighting-lane! The next moment, she hears an inhuman yowl of pain from just behind her, and a smile lifts her heart and mind, if not her lips. But well-struck!

Very few options here. I can't reach this fella, and I can't get to him unless Noro and I change places, as I can't move through his square. I'm out of 1st-level spells. I can't even aid Noro on her attack roll or AC, as I can't threaten this guy, and if I try to take a potshot past Noro, he gets cover, and I take -4.
I could head back and try to help Olivius, but he seems to have those things well in hand, and I'm likely to get chomped, being the squishier target.
So. If I were to draw my whip and try to trip him, how would Noro's position affect his CMD? Would it affect my combat maneuver check? Am I being mad? Am I better off readying an action to stab him if he drops Noro and comes for me? Or would it be best to just stop overthinking things and pass?

Korvus stabs the bard in the side with the wickedly sharp sword in his largest arm. The dagger misses it's marks as the bard reels from the first blow. Blood soaks his clothing as it pours freely from his side. It is getting harder and harder to breath, and it's likely that one of his lungs has been pierced.

The mutant goblin seems to be getting stronger, healing it's wounds from Noro's pounding, slowly, but healing nonetheless. Horatio can see every wrinkle, every scar, every blemish on the foul thing's skin. He can hear Olivius behind him, his armor clinking, and his grunt of pain as something bites into him again.

He can see the flashing of light off the bloody axe as it comes up, comes up so slowly, but he can't move, not in time to avoid, not in time to stay standing. Things move to quickly and too slowly. The axehead comes down and across as Horatio desperately steps back, desperately tries to buy just a few more seconds. The world blurs as pain erupts in his leg. Deeper and deeper, wider and wider it goes as the axe is buried into his thigh. His vision grows dark, and he sees the ground rushing to meet him as he blacks out and falls into the deep blackness that beckons him.

Olivius takes 4 damage and Horatio takes 16. Saroune, Asuriel, and Pavanna are all free to move now. Thirzin and Ping have another round to go.

Before her eyes, the gashes in the Korvosan’s side and thigh close somewhat; not completely, but the blood-flow from both visibly ebbs, to the point where she actually dares look away for a moment and deal with Noro’s injuries.
Same routine: bless for CLW
CLW on Noro: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Well, I think that’s Noro back to 0, so one more to be sure. Adios, protection from evil; hola, CLW.
another CLW on Noro: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 +13 hp should be enough to get Noro back on her feet, yes?
She looks up from the fallen brawler and nods to Asuriel. «Пожалуйста, как правило Noro? У меня есть только еще один целебный очарование во мне сейчас, и необходимость Horatio хуже.»

Infernal:
“«Please, tend to Noro? I only have one more healing charm in me for now, and Horatio’s need is worse.»”

Bardic cure for Horatio. That leaves Pavanna with naught but channels, and as I said, those need to wait a little longer.
CLW on Horatio: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 And finally back into double-digits, H!
Pavanna’s last spell of the day closes both of the bard’s near-mortal wounds to surface cuts, messy but not life-threatening. Once the silver light of her Inheritor-granted gifts fades away, she sags back against the wall in relief — and exhaustion — before digging out her canteen for a long draught.
When Horatio stirs, she offers the canteen to him with a crooked smile that doesn’t mask the lingering anxiety in her eyes. “You scared us all for a moment there, Horatio.” Her voice is soft; even so, the You scared me! hangs in the air, unsaid but clear. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t be more help sooner —” that part is addressed as much to Noro and the rest of the rear-guard as it is to Horatio “— but those damnable vargouilles... I might as well have been locked in an iron maiden.”
“For that matter, my talk of ‘we mustn’t get caught in between hammer and anvil’ didn’t exactly work out so well, either!” she reflects bitterly, more to herself than the others. “We probably would have done better to push straight on, after all.”

One of you brought up that I had missed he was actually immune to the Color spray, but since he's as good as dead anyway, there's no reason to retcon that. So, official GM ruling is Saroune knocked him on his back adn teh rest of you beheaded him or something.

"Y-y-y'know? I th-th-think I'm done adventurin'. This-- this is too much for me," Ping stammers a few minutes after it's all over. She fishes out the three potions from her pack and hands them to the worst of the hurt (Noro, Horatio, and Olivius.)

"C-can we hurry up and finish here, please?"

My hp total is 15. I got hit with aid for 3, sliced and diced for 16, and spent a round bleeding out. Spoony hasn't had a good day!

The first spell hits, and stems the bleeding, and Horatio slowly drags himself back to consciousness. After the second spell takes effect, he pulls himself up onto his elbows groggily, his head spinning, a wheezing noise coming from his ruptured left lung. "What happened?" he asks, his eyes finally focusing as Pavanna offers the canteen. He takes a deep drink, his breathing levelling out as his ruptured lung mends and reinflates. "I suppose I owe you an apology for the fright," he adds, forcing a smile.

Tossing the canteen back as his strength starts to return, he pulls himself to his feet. His right leg buckles underneath him, and he nearly collapses again, but catches himself on the wall. He tries again with a wince, eventually standing straight, albeit shakily.

"Well, Ping," he sighs, "as much as I'm likely to miss your... Unique outlook on things, I've half a mind to retire myself. I don't think my fragile psyche can handle another incident like this." He chuckles weakly, accepting the potion gratefully.

Sense motive DC 24:

He's doing a good job of hiding it, but the pallor of his skin and the way he holds his eyes betray it - Horatio is more shaken than he'll admit, and close to outright terrified.

Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Situational penalty applied for psychological distress.

Fragile psyche my a**, Horatio Aldebrandt. Olivius chides. You just faced down two demons and a mutant with more determination than half the members of my company at the Academy. If your psyche was as fragile as you say I would be picking up the pieces of your vivusected corpse right now because you would have cowered in a corner until I took care of the problem. Stop with the Limp Wrist act. As of today, you don't get to play that card anymore.
He turns to the rest of the group. That goes for all of us. We just faced actual demons and won. So let's march back into town, collect our cash, and pass out for a couple days.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 ...um, wow. Really didn’t expect to actually succeed at that check. O.O

“Well said, Olivius,” Pavanna nods, levering herself to her feet. “All of it. Particularly the part about getting some rest.” It certainly sounds like less can go wrong with your plan than my last one!

For all her heartfelt agreement with Olivius’ words, she does murmur a discreet aside to Horatio as she’s tucking her canteen away. The man’s just this side of collapsing into a gibbering wreck. Some steadying words wouldn’t hurt. «Я знаю, что был гораздо ближе к смерти, чем любой из нас хотел бы приехать, Horatio. Но Olivius прав: мужество не «не боясь», что это время в ужас и «делать работу независимо». Для всех ваших требований слабости, вы не запускать или скрыть: вы стояли вашу землю. Ты выжил, и «вы сделали хорошо». Вы поймете, это когда у вас есть немного времени, чтобы успокоиться и подумать.» When she finishes speaking, she squeezes his forearm reassuringly for a moment. “And please don’t apologise — it wasn’t meant as a rebuke.”

Infernal:
“«I know that was far closer to dying than any of us would like to come, Horatio. But Olivius is right: courage isn’t not being afraid, it’s being terrified and doing the job regardless. For all your claims of frailty, you didn’t run or hide: you stood your ground. You survived, and you did well. You’ll realise it once you have a little time to calm down and think.»”

She turns her gaze to Ping, taking the gnome’s measure for a moment, then kneels to hug her gratefully. “Thank you for coming this far with us, Ping, and for all you’ve done for us.” You had the courage — and the sense — to admit this is something you can’t handle. That needs to be respected.

...Pavanna really wants to give Noro a big ol’ hug-o’-thanks and a major ‘attaboy’ right now, too, but she’s also telling me she needs to refrain until Noro’s fully healed. So it looks like she’ll have to hold off on that until we all get above-ground again. :-S

The Chamber beyond where the Vargouilles were:

A flight of spiral stairs winds up around a circular pillar into darkness above.

The Chamber beyond the Holding Cells:

This room contains several ancient relics of what appear to be torture implements, although their function and style seem strange and archaic. In one corner sits a spherical cage with spikes protruding inward from its iron bars. In another stands what appears to be a star-shaped wooden frame, its surface studded with hooks. And in the center of the room is a long table covered with leather straps and a number of cranks that seem designed to rotate and swivel.

The chamber off to the side of the previous one:

The crumbling remnants of several chairs and a long table clutter the floor of this room. To the south stand three stone doors, each bearing a strange symbol that resembles a seven-pointed star.

Opening the doors from the above chamber:

Each contains a single skeleton of a badly deformed humanoid; one has three brittle arms, another has an enormous misshapen skull, and the third has a rib cage that goes all the way down to its pelvis—a pelvis with stunted leg bones strewn below its strangely flat girth.

The next chamber beyond that:

The ceiling of this strangely cold chamber arches to a vaulted height of twenty feet. The floor contains eleven wooden lids strewn haphazardly over eleven five-foot-wide pits in the ground. From the darkness within these pits echo up strange shuffling sounds and, every so often, a low moan.

If you look under the wooden coverings:

You see a single nude zombie in a 20 foot deep pit.

The chamber at the end of the long hallway:

This strange room is a fifteen-foot-diameter sphere. Several objects float in the room, spinning lazily in space—a ragged book, a scroll, a bottle of wine, a dead raven surrounded by a halo of floating and writhing maggots, and a twisted iron wand with a forked tip. Yet perhaps the most unnerving aspect of the room is the walls, for they are plated in sheets of strange red metal that ripple every once in a while with silent black electricity that seems to coalesce into strange runes or even words far too often for the effect to be chance.

The chamber to the side of the hallway:

Here is a stairwell that ends in rubble after only three-quarters of a turn.

Feel free to look around and roll perception checks, or any other checks. Congrats, you've cleared out the dungeon and made third level! Here's to fourth not being far behind!

Saroune spends as much time as she can perusing, in her opinion, the two most interesting rooms: the room containing the three deformed skeletons and the room with floating objects. In particular, she'll look for some clues as to the nature of these things.

Knowledge (arcana) on the floating room: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
