DM-Salsa |
Yeah, just leaving it up for now so everyone gets a chance to see it.
DM-Salsa |
okay, I'm doing better now, and I'm itching to get back into this. I'll be sending PMs to everyone, but feel free to go ahead and post here.
We're not going to be diving right back into the AP proper. I wanted to do the interlude in Magnimar before diving into Book 2. I need to refresh my memory on all of the irones I've got in the fire, so it's probably going to be next weekend before I start posting in the gameplay thread again.
DM-Salsa |
Well, it looks like Pavanna's player is still having troubles in Real life, but yeah, I'm doing better. I think I can handle GMing this game at least.
Also, that was fast. I don't think I had even sent you a PM yet when you posted!
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
Did someone say party? Who better to get the party started than a spoony bard?
DM-Salsa |
Hello! Glad to see we've got five of seven. Don't know if Pavanna and Thirzin will be joining us again anytime soon, But they have a little while to turn up.
I've got to get busy, in the meantime, and prepare for the next part of the adventure.
EDIT: Actually, it seems that Thirzin's player will likely be gone for a long while, if he returns at all. I hope he's okay since the last thing he mentioned was his health not being so good. :(
DM-Salsa |
So, here's my question to all of you. Do you want to continue on with just the five, or would you like to get a couple of more players? I really liked the dynamics we had going, but I also think that we still have some pretty good dynamics and can keep things pretty interesting as is.
That said, it's really up to you guys. I'm fine either way, but it looks like Pav and Thirzin are going to be gone for a while, if they do come back. This was the only game that Pav's player was in and I don't have any way to get in touch with him. Thirzin appears to still be having health issues, and I don't know how severe those might be. I also don't know of anyway to get in touch with him.
Sprig will probably wind up following Thirzin.
I'm debating on keeping Ping around. If we do look at getting a new player or two, I think I'll have her bow out here. Even if we don't I still may have her bow out here since, honestly, she was me being self-indulgent, and not in a good way.
Pavanna Alazario |
As usual, I’m going to line up my reservations (excuses?) ahead of time.
» Firstly, I don’t know how soon or how well I’ll be able to get back into Pavanna’s head and RP her properly, especially with how the in-world time away from the others might have affected her approach to them.
» Secondly, in all honesty I am not a fan of the undead-/slasher-horror thing that The Skinsaw Murders spends a good chunk of its page-count on. Horror movies just are not my thing, and even reading Stephen King novels didn’t really upset me that much. Maybe it’s my base assumption that eventually Good and Courageous and Heroic will prevail over Evil and Cruel and Brutal, but while intellectually I know that those works are supposed to be about being terrorised right along with the characters trapped in those situations, I simply can’t feel it, because I’m too busy waiting for the part where those characters turn around and kick the brutal beastie right in the b!+%@+*s. As such, RP’ing a helpless/terrorised character just is not my strong suit (as we saw during the nightmare sequence at Thistletop).
» Thirdly, my old laptop finally cooked its hard-drive to death, and the modern gaming desktop I got to replace it is moderately kick-ass. World of Warships isn’t a hardcore naval-combat simulator, but it’s surprisingly addictive, especially since I now have Discord to VOIP-chat with fellow players (like my Dad over in Aus), and God is it a great way to lose time! O.o (Tech-talk about our ships and fleets and games in WoWs is about the only common interest Dad and I have found to actually talk about... at least the only one that doesn’t easily lend itself to his usual ranting about immigrants and the degeneration of modern society. :-()
With those sheet-anchors thrown out, I’m moderately sure I can tear myself away from the distractions of playing with ‘botes’ (too much) and get back into the campaign. 8-D
DM-Salsa |
Alright! Sorry, I had checked to see if you and Thirzin had posted at all since I put this on hiatus and the answer had been "no."
Trust me, I know all about distractions and stuff getting in the way. I have to be careful at work because I can get distracted by almost anything, which isn't good for staying on task obviously.
So, welcome back! I've got to refresh myself on some stuff and then we'll get started, assuming we don't want to fill the slot that is going to be left by Ping.
I was thinking about playing up something to make it more like a thriller in the first half. I'd say more but spoilers :\
Olivius_Telraven |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
@replacements: nah. We have good relationships going here, let's keep that going. You can remove or not relive ping whenever you feel like it.
@Skinsaw: if it can be made less horror that'd be cool. The horror we just went through is still plenty for me even months later. You did your job well, Salsa.
@WoWs: I love that game! I doubt we'd ever be on at the same time (because of you being literally on the other side of the planet), but my name's Choonma, if you're interested.
Pavanna Alazario |
I mostly play on the NA server for various reasons — look out for PettyOfficerRalston, probably driving a USN DD. Here’s hoping our time-zones line up at some point. ;-)
Pavanna Alazario |
I have a good spread of ships, including a well-used and highly-skilled Clemson and a near-new Nassau. :)
I just wish they hadn’t locked the T1s into only ever seeing other Tier 1s during the last update. I loved taking my Erie into T2 and T3 matches: people at that level would be green enough to show their broadsides to my 6” AP shells, whereupon I’d educate them about citadel hits. I haz a sad that I can’t do that any more. :(
Olivius_Telraven |
At to the horror thing, I think the horror aspects are magnified in pbp. Instead of a few hours of going mad, the format makes us experience a few weeks of it. That's a lot of intense negativity. Throw in our good writing skills and Salsa's own deft quill and you have several straight weeks that would have Mr. King taking notes.
DM-Salsa |
Apparently I should look into writing novels for a living. :)
It looks like it's probably going to be a no on new blood which is fine. I'll just wait on the others to chime in.
Noro Kas |
I like the group. a new face would not be any big deal for me if its needed. (I am a bit anal about overlapping abilities sometimes.)
as for distractions, well not played World of Warships, I have been very distracted by Star Wars The Old republic lately.
I will miss Thirizin and I may even miss Pav (joking BTW)
not sure on how things will progress with Horatio now, we shall see.
I for one would like a break from the intense horror to at least have the chance to bonk a few heads.
I was not a real fan of the Freaky Friday thing that started though (was getting very confusing)
DM-Salsa |
Okay, so no new characters then. I'm okay with that. As for the freaky friday thing. I'm afraid that was something that I thought would be funny that wasn't half as funny as I thought. I'm all for just glossing right over that and leaving it at you guys changed back to normal a few hours later. I still wanted to do the bit I had planned in Magnimar, which should give us some comedy before delving into Book 2.
Which I hope is going to be much better with the changes I have in mind. Anyone here opposed to a detective thriller?
Olivius_Telraven |
Other than me IRL being really bad at them, no. :P
Seriously, I'm really bad. Don't expect much help from this corner.
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
A detective thriller? Oh if only we had a party member with several Knowledge skills who was good at talking to people... ;-)
Noro Kas |
A detective thriller? Oh if only we had a party member with several Knowledge skills who was good at talking to people... ;-)
does that mean Horatio is Velma
DM-Salsa |
And we're officially back! I've even made a gameplay post and everything!
Pavanna Alazario |
Before I compose my response, something occurred to me: did the team ever decide what we were doing with the loot we got from Thistletop and Nualia’s crew?
I ask because, well, my exit post put Pavanna in Magnimar for a period of (re-)training, and since she has, erm, certain connections with the Church of Iomedae there, she could have asked for unwanted items to be traded away for desired stuff, or to have items crafted/enchanted. So if she comes riding back into town from the Big City, she might just be bearing gifts.... :-)
(Of course, we could ignore that and say she was there all along, including for the Freaky Friday thing. But given how Asuriel would have ended up in her boots, according to Salsa’s spoiler, it feels a little cheap to simply bypass that kind of drama and impact on their relationship, so it might be better to carry on through and have her miss it, then hear about it after the fact.)
Olivius_Telraven |
I don't think we ever did. If you did trade things in the big city Olivius would have given you a certain repeating crossbow to sell.
DM-Salsa |
Is everyone alright? Things have gone a little quiet.
Pavanna Alazario |
I’ve been struggling with my WoWs addiction and wording Pavanna’s response. I hope to have something put together tonight.
DM-Salsa |
Hope things get better for you Saroune. I also hope its the good kind of crazy.
Main reason I was asking was I'm kinda at a point where I can't, nor do I want to, railroad this. It's just supposed to be a fun little interlude, and a way for me to put a breather between the horrors of Thistletop and the beginning of Book 2. That said, Poor Spoony is about to face his past again. Fortunately, it shoul be much more pleasant this time. :)
DM-Salsa |
Sure, just keep thinking that it's just Horatio that has to worry this time. >:)
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
Sorry, folks; life got a bit busy. Let's get this show on the road!
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
So I hid my inactive campaigns because holy wow, I had entirely too many of them, and... now this one isn't showing up in my tab at all, even after I've posted in gameplay again. Anyone know how to fix that?
DM-Salsa |
Let me try something. I'm going to do it for everybody, so sorry if I mess things up.
DM-Salsa |
Okay, can everybody see the game now?
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
Nope, still not showing up for me. =(
DM-Salsa |
Man, that sucks.
I guess try contacting Paizo and letting them know what's going on.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing Horatio's reaction to Maver's request. :D
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
That's because you're capital-E Evil. :P
DM-Salsa |
Maybe, but I remember something about a comically bad disguise for Horatio. :)
Besides. It's not going to be too bad. Spoony isn't the only one I have my attention focused on.
Saroune Anzoleta |
Things are okay. Just extremely busy over the weekend with a pair of birthdays and Labor Day right after being sick for a couple days. Unfortunately, things don't get much better this weekend: I'm working a beer festival in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
I'm here and I'll try to get some posts in, but I won't be fully back until some time next week, I'm afraid.
DM-Salsa |
I know you guys are busy, but, I've gotten that bug again, and I want to try running another game. So, I'm taking another stab at Jade Regent.
DM Salsa Presents: The Jade Regent
Feel free to pop in and sign-up. I'd be happy to have any of you in both games. :)
Noro Kas |
Horatio, I had a similar problem. I had to unhide all the hidden games (or at least show all hidden) then check that the game I wanted did indeed show up, then I had to go and manually re-hide everything again.
DM-Salsa |
You can spend it in Magnimar, so yeah. I guess it is free to spend.
