You've got a round or so to make preparations. Reiko is fine, so she'll suffer no penalties and can ready herself as well as the rest of you.

The building, with the roof having long collapsed, is just four walls rotting slowly with time. That might have been all that saved the five friends.

"I hears dem too!"

Thudding steps coming closer at speed was all the warning any of them got, but it was enough for everyone to ready themselves. The brutes don't come through the door, but instead come through the southern wall and turn most of it into rubble. They look at their quarry and vicious smiles spread across their faces, revealing jagged and crooked teeth.

"Oh boy! New dollies! New dollies for Big Sissy!"

The closest of the two ogrekin is staggered by the opening counter-assault, Jerukh's bomb lands squarely in his chest and Vigny's follow up before he can recover gravely wounds him.

"Muhtildah! Muhtildah!" His screams follow him as he withdraws.

The smaller of the two Ogrekin catches the full brunt of the blast. Injured and his bigger brother fleeing, he follows suit, calling for Muhtildah in a slightly higher voice.

Hopefully they'll return before we wrap up Brinewall. If not, well, I'll be writing Reiko out of the story.

Reiko took up a guard position next to Vigny, her blade held ready.

A croaking, cawing voice chanted out something that grated on ears and minds, bringing to mind bestial images of vicious hawks and rooks tearing at people fleeing in terror. Mist from the bay rolls in, and soon everything is blanketed in thick fog.

Acts as obscuring fog. 20% miss chance against foes 5 feet away. 50% miss chance from foes further away. Everyone may act now. Vigny, Reiko, and Emi can see each other. Soli and Jerukh can see each other. Everyone else is a vague shape in the fog.

The brutish healer nods toward Soli as he hefts his bludgeon;

Not wanting to risk hurting Emi, Reiko, or Vigny by mistake, Soli steps behind Jerukh and readies herself to attack should anyone step forward to challenge him.

Is there a map somewhere of the cabin that we’re in that I’m not seeing? It sounded like the ogrekins came through a collapsed wall? Is that the only large opening? If there’s only one way for a large creature to get in I’d like to cast grease there so it has to save as soon as it enters. If not, I’ll stand out in front of everyone to try and absorb the first attack (and continue my full defensive dance).

No map, though I should probably make one. The building you're in is fifteen by thirty feet. There are windows that someone might sneak through, but the door and the hole in the southern wall can be covered by a grease spell.

”Eferyone stay back from the hole...” Emi whispers as she begins weaving together a spell. As she dances a slick, icy film begins to grow in the missing section of wall, spreading out to cover a five foot by ten foot area inside the building and a matching section outside it.

Vigny takes up a position on one side of the hold the lumpkins knocked in the wall. She considers drawing some divine power for her sword, but decides to wait for the moment at least. The big clods were impressive looking, but didn't seem to actually have much fight in them.

The mist will make it more difficult to keep track of them and each other for sure. This is going to be all about chokepoints she reasons.

Speaking in a low voice, just enough for her friends inside to hear, she says "We'll need to keep their options for staying out of sight limited. At least until the mist clears we need to be sure they aren't moving beyond the openings were we can keep track of them. We need to keep sight of each other, or out of each others way too. Emi, Reiko and I will cover the hole in the wall. Soli and Jerukh, you have the door. Two groups, don't lose sight of your group mates. Call if you need help and we'll transfer people between groups as needed."

Vigny readies an attack with both hands on her sword. In this kind of visibility her tankard won't be of much help.

The silence grows thick with tension as the five wait for something to happen. A dark shape comes closer through the fog towards the grease. A curse comes from it as it stumbles a bit from the slippery footing and growls as it looks at you with menace before slipping back into the fog.

"Clever little elveses with clever little tricks," a deep, grumbling, feminine voice growls from the direction of the disappearing figure.

DC 13 Perception to track it through the fog this round. Everyone's up

Soli silently gives thanks for Emi's magic buying them some additional time, but it doesn't seem as though the magical fog is going to lift anytime soon. As their mysterious foe - likely this 'Matilda' that the others were calling for - speaks and then disappears back into the fog, Soli cocks her head in that same general direction.

"I think I can tell which way she went," she whispers softly. "Do we keep holding our ground here?"

While she stands with everyone else waiting for something to happen, a thought occurs to Vigny. They're trying to be clever since they can move about and we can't. But the big uglies probably aren't very clever so maybe I should feed them some ideas to push them where we want them...

Vigny whispers loudly enough for the others to hear. "Keep to the doors, I'm going to try to outfox them and bring them back to the door."

Then she calls to the others loudly enough for her voice to carry outside. "They came through the wall before and they're going to do it again! Prepare to defend the opposite side from the doors!"

Even if it doesn't work maybe it will cause them to stop and think about what to do again. I'm sure this mist must be magical, and it might eat up more time until it's gone.

Then she goes ahead and calls on the divine to power her sword. No point in expecting an easy time of it.

Although not many might see it, her sword begins to glow with a soft golden light.

A slight shift in the wind catches your attention. You turn to look behind you to see a large, hideous looking woman with the legs of a dog come rushing up to you.

I just realized I goofed. Jerukh, you get an extra action against Muhtildah since you spotted her as well and I somehow missed that.

Reiko moves to defend Soliana as Muhtildah grabs the paladin's glaive and uses it to pull her closer as the monstrous ogrekin steps up to her. Her arms snake around Soliana as she begins to try pinning her down.

Soliana, you are now grappled. You need to beat a 20 on your CMB check to get loose

As she tries to wrestle Soliana into submission, she roars out into the mist.

"BUTTERSNIPS!"

A blur comes streaking through the door and by Emiliana, giving her a shallow cut that burns fiercely for a moment. The blur had not been expecting the greasy ground and overshoots her planned stopping point as she goes tumbling head over heels into the far wall of the room.
