GiantSlayer Book 3: Forge of the Giant God
Part 3: Cathedral of minderhal

The heroes must infiltrate the ruined temple of an ancient giant god and defeat the Storm Tyrant’s lieutenant to prevent the warlord from gathering an even larger army. Within the cathedral, the adventurers also discover a powerful artifact that they must reactivate before they can make use of its magic.

Bormann grits his teeth as Beetle's loose lips reveals pretty much everything about their mission. "A hill giant chieftan, Grenseldek, sent orc raiders against Trunau. But Castle Firrne sounds even more ambitious, meaning she's either got more orcs at her command than we realized or it's someone else. Could be there are just too many orcs about and they need to be thinned out before they cause too much trouble," Bormann shrugs. "Either way, we're sailing with Bloodtusk to deter Grenseldek any way that is required and we'd appreciate any information you have on what's ahead of us."

Calrianne's eyes light up at the mention of Redlake Fort. She goes over to the overturned desk and rummages around the papers. Ah! Here it is! She produces a map of the abandoned border fort. My ancestor, Fabian Blix, was the fort’s cleric many years ago. He died during the final siege of the fort, but one of his sons, my great-grandfather escaped through a hidden sewer tunnel. She points to the tunnel on the map. I am sure it is submerged after all these years, but I am also sure those orcs or hill-giant don't know about it. It might be a way in for you all.

Her face turns somber. I would like to know what happened to Fabian. If you find anything out about his fate, please let me know. It has been a mystery my family has wondered about all these years.

DC15 Sense Motive Check:
You notice that Calrianne seems to be bothered by something as she talks about her ancestor.

I will post the map of the fort later on today.

What?..uh...well you see, there are stories that have been passed down in my family in regards to the fort’s original castellan, who was a despicable, vile man. My great-grandfather rarely spoke of his time at the fort, and though I don’t know any more details, I heard-tell that mention of the fort or its castellan caused my great-grandfather to go pale and visibly tremble. She then stares wistfully. Perhaps that is why none of my family have investigated the fort for ourselves.

It is mid-morning when the keelboat rounds a bend and must be hauled up the river. The horses are unloaded (including Lucky) and attached to the boat through a harness. Lucky gives Kurag a sad luck as the old, noble warhorse remembers better days. Bloodtusk sees the exchange and says, I suppose ya want to go ashore and help lead the horses - 'specially my great-grandma's horse!

All this hard work has made the crew hungry but the semi-edible food that BB serves up hardly goes down. There is much talk of capturing the crocs and opening their belly in the hope that Gashnakh might still somehow be alive.

The next morning, progress is halted by a crude dam constructed of large
boulders, animal carcasses, and mud.

Let me harness the horse I brought and you will see that you will get more effort from her.

If possible then Kurag takes Lucky out from pulling and slips the new saddle on him and leaves his other horse to pull with the others.

Remind me. NExt time we level up to take mounted combat.

When the food is served Kurag does his best to smile as he eats but the amount of salt make him pucker his lips too much like he wanted a kiss from BB. Instead Kurag took to dipping the food in his drink to wash the salt off before popping it in his mouth.
