Kurag Urlot III |
Quickly assessing the status of Urnsul Kurag tries to stem the wounds to keep her from bleeding out.
heal check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Greta, can you staunch her wounds? We need to move her quickly back so she can be cared for and questioned.
Looking up at Aleril Kurag also inquires as to his health in the same vein as BB. We came as quick as we could. I am glad we got here when we did but it was still a close call. Come with us to the healers. they are just back that way.
Sergei von Janderhoff |
Well, she was in 'Ferocity', so if she dropped, it is a safe bet that she did so because she bled out...
Sergei nods.
"'Twas lucky we came along when we did. We'll get you to the healers, then continue helping out."
He then checks the bodies for loot.

Round 7
Kurag tries to stop the blood from Urnsul's wounds, but can't.
Bormann begins to secure her arms so she is unable to get away when she is healed.
Urnsul drops to the ground.
BB Checks on Aleril who is glad for the timely assistance.
"We're glad to see that you are alright. Did they hurt you?"
No, they didn't but I think they would have if you all hadn't happened along.
We came as quick as we could. I am glad we got here when we did but it was still a close call. Come with us to the healers. they are just back that way.
"'Twas lucky we came along when we did. We'll get you to the healers, then continue helping out."
I am not a healer, but I am sure there is some way for me to help out. All of Trunau needs to come together now.
@Sergei: It says that when the orc ferocity ends, half-orcs fall unconscious and begin dying. This is what is happening here, so you can still save her stinkin' life. :P
Next Up: Greta
DM RichD |
Bormann @ 19/30HP
Sergei @ 26/26HP FULL
Urnsul @ -4/22HP
Greta, agreeing that Urnsul would serve a better purpose to the town alive instead of dead, stops her wounds from bleeding. At the same time she also heals Sergei and Bormann, who still has many bruises about his head from the blows from Urnsul's hammer.
Next?
BB Beetle |
"Alright, let's deliver Urnsul to the authorities, and Aleril to safety. Then we can search for the next trouble spot. See what areas are still out of control."
Kurag Urlot III |
Go ahead an search if you want. Kurag can take the 2 back with Bormann and see if he can get some healing.
Kurag slings his bow as he grabs Urnsul's body. Dragging it behind him he sets off at a steady pace. Be right back. This shouldn't take me more than a minute or two to drop her off and get back to you. Bormann, you coming along?
Bormann Grimm |
"Fine with me, Kurag. Better the two of us do it rather than one should she regain enough of her wits to be treacherous." Before taking off with Kurag, though, he turns to Greta. "My thanks again, Greta. Remind me to make my offerings to Bolka when this is over."

Bormann slups the unconscious half-orc over his shoulder and he, Kurag and Aleril head back to the healers. You see a few more healers than there were before and some guards. They hail Kurag and nod respectfully at the wounded Bormann. Aleril goes right to work, giving the wounded water and comfort until the healers can get to them.
Some of the guards secure Urnsul. I hope her bonds ain't too tight. one chuckles as he tugs on the ropes hard.
A friendly priest approaches Bormann and says, It looks like you are giving more than you are getting from those filthy orcs! He pulls out a wand and taps Bormann which heals him completely. Smack one for me, will you?
Bormann and Kurag return to the group without incident completely healed.
You are currently at L9 on the Inner Quarter map. Where to next?
Kurag Urlot III |
Coming back tot he group after depositing his charge Kurag is happy to report that Bormann is all patch up and ready to go. All set to continue on. There is a string of houses here to the northwest. If we follow them then we should be able to clear out this section before we reach the next set of gates. To the west of the gates is some more buildings that may need to be searched.
Bormann was able to get some healing so if everyone is ready lets keep going. If agreeable to everyone then he leads them on checking the buildings nearby till they get tot he wall and the gate.
BB Beetle |
"Alright, let's clear this section out. Maybe we'll find more clues."
Bormann Grimm |
As he takes leave of the healers, Bormann responds, "I'll smack them twice, and then some thanks to your magic."
He trots back to the group with Kurag. "You and Greta know the town best. I'll follow your lead but I am getting antsy to make sure the bonfires are lit."
DM RichD |
L10 on Inner Quarter Map
Splintered rubble is all that remains of the wall that once separated this kitchen from the adjacent living area. The shattered windows in the walls allow an ominous breeze to waft through the eerie, abandoned home. All the shelves and cabinets have been thoroughly looted or partially destroyed, and the foundation and floorboards have caved in where a
smoldering boulder landed in the house.
L11 on Inner Quarter Map
The orcs have breached the inner quarter’s western gate. The only thing standing between the orcs and the rest of the inner quarter are two makeshift barricades.
Standing in the middle of the barricades all alone is Patrol Sergeant Omast Frum. He is still weaving unsteadily shouting at the orcs that are trying to break through the portcullis Between L2e and L2f.
Come on ya stinkin' orcs! I'll take all of you on! One good trumau soldier is worth a hundred filthy orcs!
Kurag Urlot III |
Knowing that should the orcs break through the portcullis Kurag advances slightly and begins firing bow as soon as he is within bowshot. Hopefully he can hit and take some of them down but if not th added distraction might keep the occupied enough till th oaths can get to a defensive position at the barricades.
Didnt see Init or combat map so did not roll for attacks.
DM RichD |
Omast turns unsteadily towards you. Eh? Oh! it's Kurag and his companions! Well met again. We HIC die today, but we die with orc blood on our blades! he says with slurred speech. We closed the portcullis on the orcs after a few got in. Unfortunately the orcs killed almost all of my patrol. The remainder helped me build these barricades before going out to find anything that can help. Have ya seen my boys?
Sadly you remember all the dead bodies that you have encountered and those wounded at the healers.
We have gotten some supplies already. Omast points to a barrel that contains a glaive, a guisarme, a halberd, two longspears and a ranseur.
Those should reach over the barricade.
And we got that. Omast points to a large boulder that is nearly 10 feet acrossL11a. That came crashing down at the start of the raid. It has some alchemical agent on it that the stupid orcs forgot to light. Figure the boys and I can light it up and roll it down to those orcs. Don't want HIC it be said that we kept their rock!
We were also HIC able to gather up those logs as well. Omast points a shaky finger at two stacks of logs.
reach the western curtain wall.
HIC I was able to scavenge those from some nearby ruined homes. Omast points to some sharpened logs. What say you are you ready to die today avenging poor Rodrick?
Bormann Grimm |
Bormann looks about at the fortifications and improvised weaponry and is impressed. "I have to hand it to the people of Trunau, Omast. You think like dwarves here. And that is a compliment of the highest order."
DM RichD |
At Greta's mention of Rodrik, Omast takes out his flask, gives a toasting motion with it, and downs a good gulp. He burps audibly. To Bormann he says, Thank you, we have had lots of practice, lots of practice. He glances at the portcullis straining under the steady attacks by the orcs.
What is the stragedy/order that you want to do things. You figure you have about five rounds before the orcs break through.
BB Beetle |
BB thinks for a minute. "Okay. One of you strong types can push the boulder downhill, that should slow them down bigtime. I can help loosen the lumber, too. After that we should either prepare the shaprened sticks, or used ranged weapons behind the barricade."
Kurag Urlot III |
Kurag nods his agreement to what BB and Omast are talking about. First use the rock to aim at the gate. Then the logs at any survivors. Both sets of logs should be released at the same time. Once released move back behind the barricades for cover.
Kurag then moves over to one of the log piles ready to take his place. He purposely takes the far side of one of the log piles figuring that after they are released he will have the best firing lines from the sides at any stragglers.
Sorry guys just got home from vaca and thought I would be on earlier.
DM RichD |
So the plan is to light the boulder and push it down the hill, then send to logs down for any survivors, then use the sharpened spikes then over the barricade with the reach weapons. Kurag is on one of the logs, who is on boulder duty and where do you want the drunken sergeant?
BB Beetle |
Not sure if BB knows about those items, but those Soothe Syrup and Remove Sickness potions will do wonders for the drunken Sergeant.
BB signs up for boulder duty.
Kurag Urlot III |
Not wanting the drunk Sargent to get in the way of the dwarves Kurag calls out to him. Omast, how about you take position behind the barricades. If the orcs look like they are about to breach one side or the other then you can reinforce that area as needed. I just hope we don't need him. The last thing we need is to hit one of us by accident.
Bormann Grimm |
"Hey, Beetle, remember those greasy scrolls that orc war leader had? If we have some left they might slow the onslaught down." Bormann asks BB.
Meanwhile, the dwarf gets to business laying out some of the other goods stripped from orc raiders and traitors. He sets a pair of thunderstones on the nearby barricade and a couple of flasks of alchemist fire. "Hey, caltrops! Grease up the sides, caltrops up the middle?" he proposes as he digs out a pouch once carried by the beast tamer.
BB Beetle |
"Heh. Good point, Bormann."
BB looks through the scrolls. "These scrolls of Grease should work wonders." BB tucks the two scrolls away.
Greta Bolkasdottir |
"Omast, I have something here that might aid you in the battle. Will you drink it?" Greta pulls out the soothing syrup and offers it to Omast. "It will help make certain we give Rodrick's memory a proper battle."
Bormann Grimm |
Bormann dashes forward with the bag of caltrops. He shakes it out in the central approach to the barricades. They're not his typical mode of fighting so he has no particular insight into optimal placement. He figures if he can hurt some orcs, the job is well done enough.
DM RichD |
Omast sways, Sure, Greta, I'll drink it. My flask is almost empty anyway! He holds out the potion, For Roddy! He says as he gulps down the potion. A few seconds later he becomes clear-eyed and stops swaying. Thank you for clearing my head, Greta, for it looks like those orcs are almost through!
As soon as Omast says that, the potculis wheezes and breaks apart. You see six orcs carrying a battering ram. As soon as they are through, they drop the ram, pull out their weapons and start making their way up the hill.
