Kurag Urlot III |
Still asleep Kurag tosses and turns in fits a nightmare as he replays the ambush of the caravan and the ensuing chase over and over in his head. No.....noooo!!
Bormann Grimm |
Will Save (using guidance): 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 = 11
Bormann will not be staying awake if he can't disrupt the spell - but isn't sleep a 1 round casting time? That's going to leave that orc a bit vulnerable to disruption, which is fine, I just want to know if I can get my licks in on him.
BB Beetle |
My next action depends on wether Bormann is asleep or not.
BB grabs the drawf and shakes him. "Wake up, man! This is no time to sleep. We gotta stop this guy, fast!"
BB then moves to J20, to prepare his next move.
As the orc continues casting, BB moves up to K20 and kicks the orc.
"Stop that kill nonsense already. People like you is why we hate each other."
Unarmed Strike, Hatred: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Bormann Grimm |
Then I'm gonna try and smash him down!
Bormann charges up to the orc causing so much trouble, his teeth grinding and the rush of fury in his veins.
Going into a rage and charging, AC 12 for this round
Greataxe: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 oooo, might be a miss
Damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Sergei gets into the orc's face.
BB goes up and kicks Kagak.

Kurag Urlot III |
Over his night terror Kurag drifts off to others dreams as only someone near him might be able to hear him mumble Greta's name as a smile comes over his face.
DM RichD |
Round 7 Cont'
Greta hustles forward and tries to hit the orc with her mace, but misses. Kurag continues to dream away.
Angry that his spell didn't seem to work, Kagak tries to slash Bormann.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
His axe harmlessly scrapes Bormann's armor.
Next Up: Bormann, Sergei & BB
Tactical Map Updated.
Bormann Grimm |
Continuing to rage and grunting in exertion, "Graahh!", Bormann seeks payback for the orc trying to enchant him.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
AC penalty from charge expires, but the rage still leaves his AC at 14
Sergei von Janderhoff |
With a wolfish grin, Sergei adjusts to a flanking position, and takes a swing at the orc!
MW Cold Iron Battleaxe: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 19, for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 damage.

Orc 3(-15/6) DEAD
Next Up: Kurag and Greta
Kurag Urlot III |
As can only happen in dreams Kurag went from fleeing from orcs to thoughts of Greta to now a twisted combination of the two. Yet the twisted nightmare/fantasy is not enough to wake the slumbering dwarf.
DM RichD |
Round 7 Cont'
Greta swings at the orc's head but at the last second he ducks out of the way. Kurag continues to dream away.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Kagak angry at the wounds that Bormann is inflicting and feeling his life force drain from him, attempts to hit the dwarf with his well-made axe, but his aim is off and Bormann is uninjured.
Up Next: Bormann, Sergie & BB
BB Beetle |
BB tries to punch and headbutt Kurag, so he will stop swinging at his friends.
"You're out numbered and surrounded. May as well surrender!"
Flurry 1, Hatred: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 1 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Flurry 1, Hatred, Confirm: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Flurry 2, Hatred: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
All of that is nonlethal damage. BB would aim to capture rather than kill the leader here.
Bormann Grimm |
The orc has a well-made axe, eh? Tucking that reference away for future consideration.
Bormann, caught up in the rage, fails to heed BB Beetle's call for the orc to surrender. He makes a savage chop with his axe.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
BB Beetle |
"Ah, wait, he might know something-" BB's request is interrupted with a spray of blood in his eyes.
As he wipes his face, he sees Bormann and Sergei's axes pull back from what was left of Kagak. "Hmm. Well, we got rid of the call for violence, at least."
BB shouts to Kurag's perch. "Hey, we got him!" Not hearing a reply, BB grows worried. "Kurag? Kurag! Jeez, what happened to him?" BB turns around and bolts downstairs, towards Kurag's perch.
Assuming he's not interrupted BB finds the sleeping dwarf and rouses him awake. "No time to sleep on the job, buddy! Bormann almost fell asleep, too!"
Bormann Grimm |
The rage leaves his muscles quivering a bit, but Bormann sets to the task of stripping the orc of anything valuable or significant. "No grave goods for this one. He will rot uncelebrated with the rest of these parasites."
When he is finished, he will lift up the orc's dead body, hold it as high as he can, and shout out, "Koldukar! Koldukar!" before flinging the body from the battlement.
Kurag Urlot III |
Kurag wakes groggily to the ministrations of BB and reaches out to grab the new arrival in a large hug and kiss thinking it is still a dream sequence. Before he can complete the act though BB's words sink in and wake him. 4 inches from BB's face Kurag stops and pushes the dwarf away. Why you coming up on me like that? I was having a great dream about, well... never you mind. Anyways, that is just rude to wake a dwarf from his sleep. Rolling over to get up Kurag realizes the condition he is in and the state of Trunau around him. Looking sheepish he turns back to BB. Hey, uh, sorry about that. I should thank you. I didn't realize what was going on there. Uh, yeah thanks. This stays between us right?
BB Beetle |
"I guess that orc had the power to knock people asleep AND keep 'em there!" BB laughs. "Don't worry, you gave us good cover- whoa!"
BB watches Bormann throw the orc off the roof. "W-well, there goes our chance at interrogation." BB winces as he hears the wet crunch of the body hitting the ground. "At least he can't terrorize anyone else anymore."
Kurag Urlot III |
Thanks, BB. But what do you mean... Kurag stops short as he turns to see what BB is talking about. Oh, I think we better head back to the others. There is more to do and it could be a long day. Thanks again.
Kurag takes him time climbing down and heads over to the tower to get a better view of what is going on from up there.
perception check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Alright guys we still have to finish clearing the section of town and then head over to see if anyone else needs our help. Let's get a move on.
DM RichD |
Potion of cure moderate wounds,
scrolls of cause fear (2),
scroll of charm person,
scrolls of grease (2),
scroll of remove fear,
scrolls of summon monster I (2),
wand of cure light wounds (24 charges),
thunderstone,
mwk chainmail,
mwk light steel shield,
mwk battleaxe,
throwing axes (5),
antitoxin,
war drums
Orcs: 3 studded leather armor, 3 falchions, 12 javelins
From the tower, you see this.
Where to go next?
Also Drosk has the party loot on his character sheet, anyone want to transfer it to theirs?
Kurag Urlot III |
Sorry what location are we at so I know where to head to next?
We have some fires going on down there. Some of the townsfolk kit need some help there. With that or we head to the gate and do this methodically to make sure no one gets behind us.
BB Beetle |
"I wanna put out those fires, but we also gotta protect the gates. The townsfolk can put out the fire. Let's secure the frontlines!" BB grabs his spear.
Bormann Grimm |
Bormann, rooting through the orc leader's gear, holds up a couple of things - including a wand and some scrolls. "Greta, I don't know what these are for. I figure you and the beetle can put them to best use. Sergei, since you already got a pretty fine weapon, I hope you don't mind if I keep a hold of this for a while," he says while brandishing the masterwork axe. "Maybe some of his brethren will recognize it and realize we must have slain him for it. That may strike some fear into their hearts."
Since Bormann isn't the type to keep things hidden, the stuff of the orc leader:
Potion of cure moderate wounds,
scrolls of cause fear (2),
scroll of charm person,
scrolls of grease (2),
scroll of remove fear,
scrolls of summon monster I (2),
wand of cure light wounds (24 charges),
thunderstone,
mwk chainmail,
mwk light steel shield,
mwk battleaxe,
throwing axes (5),
antitoxin,
war drums
Kurag Urlot III |
Thanks for the reference. Looking back though I think we have cleared out location K and L1-L6. that should just leave heading east.
It looks like the gate behind us should be safe since we clared everything out in front of it. Let's move on to the closest fires and see if any townsfolk need help there. Any orcs we come across, well now is not the time for mercy unless Greta or I recognize them as locals.
Kurag points in the direction of L9 where the 2 large fires are closest.
Only gear that Kurag would be interested in is the antitoxin, thunderstone or cure potion. However with me being in the back let someone else that doesn't have a healing potion take it first.
BB Beetle |
"Greta should hold onto the wand, that's for sure!" He giggles. "Some of these I already know of, but it's all to help us help the people in this fine village."
Sergei and Kurag could use the wand of CLW, since it's on their spell lists
BB already knows: Summon Monster I, Grease
BB and Greta can use: Cause Fear, Summon Monster I, Grease
Only BB can use: Charm Person
Only Greta can use: Remove Fear
BB is interested in the scroll of Charm Person and Cause Fear...and the war drums, maybe.
Kurag and Sergei can also take a look at the scrolls and wand since divine magic is on their spell lists.
Greta Bolkasdottir |
Kurag you can still use an item like a wand. Even if you can't yet cast the spells, as long as it's on your eventual spell list, you can activate the wand.
Greta will gratefully accept the scroll of remove fear.
BB Beetle |
"Something smells bad over there." BB wrinkles his nose. "Then again my sister would like it, I'm sure!" he chuckles. "I think that's our next destination." BB grabs a scroll of Summon Monster I and heads east.
Bormann Grimm |
Bormann squints into glare. "Yeah, that looks like a problem for us to look into. More orc magic, no doubt. Something for us to handle as specialists rather than leave to the basic militia. I will avenge more of my ancestors today before I lay down to rest." He tucks a couple of the orc's hand axes into his belt, ready for throwing, and hefts the battleaxe.
Kurag Urlot III |
Fort safe 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 +2 if poison save applies
Try as he might Kurag could not handle the acrid smoke and he ends up inhaling a large volume of the smoke. Coughing and wheezing he retreats back to clean air tears streaming from his eyes. Once he gets a token of his breath he spits out, Dog's barking and points in the direction he heard the sound.
Bormann Grimm |
Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17, +2 more if poison or spell applies
"That's not a typical orc stench. Pfaw! No wonder those dogs are baying." Bormann says as he leads the way into the noxious stench.
BB Beetle |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
As BB steps into the room, he pauses for a moment, overwhelmed by the fumes. "Oof! Smells worse than momma's cookin'! Definitely not as tasty!" He then starts coughing before retreating outside to get a breath of fresh air.
"Let's try that again...so we can save those dogs!"
Sergei von Janderhoff |
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26.
Sergei barely notices.
"I had to deal with worse working in the forges, back home! Come on - let's find where the next knot of these damn orcs are!"
