Millsy growls, lashing out with tooth and claw. The cultist manages to dodge the teeth but is blindsided by the claws. Meanwhile Evlar laughs at Jaed, "Ha! I knew if we came face to face, you'd try such cowardly tactics on me again, so this time I came prepared!" He pulls out another potion and drinks it, vanishing in a manner similar to Marzela.

Up above, the priest calls to his companions, "To me!" One acolyte rushes closer, pausing to return fire at Lily.

Crossbow vs AC 13: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Confirm crit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

The other acolyte drops her crossbow and rushes towards the tiefling as the priest steps around, dropping her crossbow and drawing her rapier as she does so to make room for the newcomer. She lashes out with the blade, narrowly missing the warrior.

Wow, nice roll. :) So, that gives 18 HP to everyone in our party except Carrakas, and also might affect Evlar if he moved east at least 10 feet since last seen. (Channeling is line of effect in a sphere, so it does affect things I could hit with an arrow within 30 feet (doesn't go around corners), but I think I am out of range of the people on the wall just because of the 15 feet up thing... GM call.)

As the priest's rapier bounces off his armor, Carrakas gives a quick chuckle. Glancing back, he notices the winch on the back wall. Bet that opens the gate... He takes a small step back, and begins to crank the winch.

5-foot-step southeast to get next to the winch, then take whatever actions are needed to crank it. I assume that would eat up all my actions this round, if I get to do something else just let me know. Assuming the winch turns and seems to be doing something...

The tiefling calls out to his companions below "Make for the gate!"

Oh, no worries. It was just an excuse to walk centrally and heal everyone really. My next turn (if you don't make it out of the gate) will be to give you a potion of gaseous form. Looks like the gate might open though, which would be awesome.

Carrakas heaves against the very large winch with all his might. It starts to move and the portcullis rises a little bit before he loses his grip and the heavy iron construction slams back down. You still have a move action if you want to do something other than move with it.

Finnrick still has his action (as well as Jaed, though he mentioned he might not be able to post until the weekend). I'll update again in about 5-6 hours.

Up on the walkway, one cultist fires once again at Lily as his companions circle in around Carrakas. One of them attempts to distract the warrior while the other takes advantage, scoring a hit on him.

Marzela moves over to where she can give Lily the potion and also talk to Jaed.

Lily, it's me. I'm going to put something into your hands. Don't drop it. She then reaches over and places a vial in Lily's hand. It's that potion of gaseous form we found downstairs. I suggest moving to the gate and then drinking it, because after you drink it you can only fly, relatively slowly. But of course, you'll be able to get through the gate, and hopefully over or through any other obstacles. Get out, and get that evidence to the Pathfinder Lodge. Lieutenant Riker said he'd send real help if we could find hard evidence. If we're still trapped here, get him to come and save us. I'll try to keep everyone alive. And be careful. It doesn't make you invulnerable.

She then turns to Jaed. Jaed... let Millsy sniff him out. Carrakas needs help. You can climb, right? Do you need rope?

I think that's all I can do this round... move to them, give her the potion, lots of free action talking.

If I can still use that move action from last round, this is what I'd like to use it for. If I can't, I *think* I still have enough actions to do what I want this round, but the timing of this action determines whether I get one or two attacks of opportunity, since last round the blue-outlined cultist would not have been adjacent to me yet.

With the winch being much harder to use than expected, Carrakas shifts gears, and retrieves a length of rope from his pack.

And this round's actions...
He flinches slightly as the cultist gets in a lucky shot, but continues to ignore him. Instead, he takes a small step closer to the interior, lets one end of the rope drop to the ground, and secures his end of the rope to the wall. Having done that, he turns and raises his shield once more, guarding the space where the rope attaches to the wall.

Carrakas pulls out his rope and moves to attach it to the wall, neatly ducking the priest's clumsy swing. Quickly running towards the wall, sheathes his swords, grabs the rope, and begins climbing up. However, once he reaches the top, he finds that he doesn't really have any place to stand and just sort of dangles there.

The three cultists above then move to surround the tiefling, the one with the crossbow dropping it in favor of a short sword.

Acolyte aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Acolyte aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Priest rapier: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 13

But even with their combined efforts, they're unable to pierce through the warrior's armor.

Down below, Finnrick moves to the northwest and opens the door next to him, revealing an empty stable. Millsy then lifts her nose and begins moving in the direction of Evlar's scent. Eventually she stops and growls to her west, head turning towards the southwest as her target once again moves away. Before yelling out, "They're trying to escape, sir! Two climbed up the wall and one of them turned invisible! It's the new recruits and some strangers!"

I don't think you need a perception check to find someone with scent, but it's a move action to figure out what direction the smell is coming from. That plus Millsy actually moving in that diretion means she wouldn't have a chance to attack.
Scent

Faltore looks around, confused by the voice out of nowhere. "What the...show yourself immediately and surrender!" As he speaks, he strides towards Lily and raises his own rapier to strike as more cultists swarm out.

Lily... seriously, that's 3 AOOs, while you're drinking, isn't it? The bad guys moved up. That's likely to kill you before the potion kicks in, even if I use one of my last channels to heal you right afterward. Shouldn't you at least take a 5 foot step first?

They were moving in last round too, which is why I suggested running to the gate and getting help when I gave you the potion. If you can't see the map, I can move you 5 feet to get out of the way while you drink.

Lily quaffs the potion and then suddenly and rapidly disperses into a cloud of mist, which starts floating toward the portcullis.

Carrakas gathers up his energy, rocks and stones seeming to flow into him, before unleashing all that energy in an attack against the cultist directly east of him. The energy of the attack is more focused and careful than his usual strike, while having more strength behind it.

Move action to gather power, standard action to use a pushing earth blast, which gives me a free Bull Rush maneuver if this hits. Not using power attack to help my chances of pushing the fool back.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 5) + 5 = 12
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Carrakas swings, cutting a large wound in the cultist and just barely managing to shove him back 5ft. As he approaches, the cultist attempts to swing at him but only hits air.

Marzela moves towards the door carelessly left open by the cultist who rushed to engage the group earlier and discovers that yes, it does seem to be a stairway up. Jaed, taking advantage of the opening his companion created, climbs nimbly up.

Finnrick takes a look around and suddenly realizes that he and Millsy are now the only targets for the half-dozen or so armed cultists. Seeing the door next to him open further and putting two and two together. He begins muttering a few words as fog begins to stream out from under his cloak, surrounding him. He then quickly whistles to Millsy as he uses the cover to rush upstairs. Having Finnrick cast Obscuring mist and then move upstairs. Millsy is withdrawing and following. The mist is high enough to also cover the top of the wall where it is.

As soon as the mist begins to spread, the cultists in the courtyard all rush forward. Many of them dive head first towards where Finnrick once was and there are shouts of general confusion as they attempt to figure out where their quarry went. Over that can be heard Evlar yelling, "Hurry! They're getting away!"

Some of the other cultists, including Faltore. A number of short swords pass harmlessly through her form as Faltore does a quick one-two with his rapier and shield. Seeing some success, he gives a yell of mixed triumph and fury at his underlings. "Don't let the form fool you! You can hit her just like any other foe! You just have to stop missing you sad sacks of flesh!"

Shield bash (magic): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Meanwhile, up on the wall, the three cultists find themselves suddenly facing two opponents. The priest continues to strike at Carrakas, switching back to alternating between sword and shield as one of his companions swings at Jaed, and the other takes an unsteady step back to quaff a potion.

Rapier vs Carrakas: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Shield bash vs Carrakas: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Marzela, unable to see Lily through the fog, still hears the captain yell about still being able to hit her, and although she can't see her, she channels to make sure she stays alive. If she goes down, she not only loses a new friend, but their whole mission is lost.

Channel Positive Energy: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3) = 11

Then, hoping that helped, she proceeds up the stairs.

Put that yellow circle on the board to show Marzela's channel radius, so all the guards in that area are also healed. Hopefully only Faltore can hit her, so Lily can fly through the door this turn. I have one last channel, but I won't be able to get line of effect on her when she is under the wall. Of course, she's flying anyway, so she could angle up and away to get over the wall instead, which would let me heal her again, but either way, unfortunately, looks like another round of attacks next turn until she is out the portcullis or over the wall.

Edit: Sorry, retcon... I was just reading the cleric channeling paragraph to confirm the radius of my channel and realized that I only get 2d6 until 5th level. I must have read it wrong the first time, and then copied the mistake to my alias. Fixing that, and am really, really sorry. So, Lily and everyone else in the circle only get 8 healing, not 11. GM choice about what to do for the previous 4 mistakes. I don't think that they would have made a lot of difference in most cases, because most people were over-healed, but ...? I hope I didn't retroactively cause a TPK. Sorry again.

@Lily: Ahh, I missed that you had mage armor up. In that case, yes, the attack misses you.

@Marzela: Given Lily wasn't actually hurt, the herald wouldn't have yelled and you can change your action. As for the healing mistake, if you've used it 4 times already with an extra 1d6, how about we just say that means you used up 2 additional channels since the overall dice add up? Either way, I'm too lazy to go back and try to undo HP given. It's probably not going to make too much of a difference unless you all decide to stick around and try to kill everyone.

@Everybody: In general, if you're waiting on seeing the outcome of something, it's good to post saying that's what you're doing (or post with conditional statements if it makes sense). Otherwise I have no idea that you're waiting.

Okay, that sounds like a good resolution. It also means I am out of channels, so here's hoping we survive. :) Here's my revised action:

Marzela moves up the stairs, and then continues to move until she gets right outside the fog. She sees Carrakas and Jaed, and the winch mechanism presumably, and yells

Don't raise the gate. Lily is flying and Finnrick is right behind me. Get over the wall and run.

I still have movement left but guessing I can't use it to jump...

Trusting that Finnrick heard her as well, Marzela moves further (keeping to the edge away from the cultist) so that the cultist near her can't identify where she is.

He gets an AOO as I go past if he can tell I am there.

Carrakas flinches as a hit finally sneaks past his defenses. He glares at the cultist, and prepares to counter, but then he hears Marzela's call. Glancing quickly around, his gaze lands on the winch next to him. Don't want them following us... He begins to form his weapon again, and this time it takes on the shape of a fierce looking warhammer. He swings it, not at any person, but directly at the winch.

Performing a sunder combat maneuver on the winch, choosing bludgeoning damage for the blast damage. As I understand it, as an inanimate object its AC is 10-5(for 0 dex)-2(flat penalty listed in the sunder rules)+any size modifier, or 3+size mod. Assuming the winch is any size larger than Tiny, it should have an AC of 7 or less.
CMB, PA: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 - 1 = 9
Damage, PA: 2d6 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (6, 2) + 5 + 2 = 15

He glances at Jaed. "Go! I'll be right behind you!"

Carrakas Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 9 ⇒ (10) + 10 - 9 = 11 Even if you have a +9 hit and the AC is < 10, a natural 1 still misses.

NLD Finnrick: 1d6 ⇒ 3
NLD Millsy: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Finnrick and Millsy jump off the nearest wall and begin taking off as the invisible Marzela and gaseous Lily move to do likewise. Jaed swings at the cultist near him, who manages to dodge the first blow but runs straight in to the second. Beside him Carrakas swings his hammer at the winch, making a small dent in it.

As they continue to fight, the cultists on the wall begin yelling at their comrades on the ground. "Up here! They're up here! Come help us with them!" Though it's hard to tell what effect their yells have inside the mist. At least some of the cultists continue to chase Lily, swinging at her with their ineffectual weapons and cursing loudly. Meanwhile, the three cultists on the wall continue to swing equally ineffectively at Jaed and Carrakas.

Short sword vs Jaed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Short sword vs Jaed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Rapier vs Carrakas: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Shield bash vs Carrakas: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Lily--moved you through the portcullis, so you are out and can say where you are headed. The gaseous form spell lasts two minutes (per level, but not sure what level you have to be to make the potion), and once we're out of combat that won't last long, so I suggest not trying to fly too far above ground so you don't get falling damage. :)

Marzela steps up, intending to jump off the roof, but seeing Carrakas with several guards between him and the jump to freedom, delays to see if he is going to need help getting out.

Not giving up my turn, just waiting on what Jaed and Carrakas do before I decide.

"Ok, see you there!" Jaed shouts back to Finnrick. "Don't get held up by that winch," he says to Carrakas before rushing through the middle of the two cultists next to him. withdraw action

He tries to avoid theirs swords before he dives from the top of the wall.

But to the cultists' annoyance, Jaed nimbly dodges past them and leaps off the wall. As he hits the ground, he rolls with his momentum, avoiding any damage.

Carrakas has an action, and Marzela is waiting on him before deciding what to do. Unless they post otherwise, I'm assuming Lily and Finnrick are just fleeing.
