Arcessentes |
Yes. We can hardly bypass such a thing. But do we go to liberate or cleanse that chapel? Arcessentes tries to recall if he has heard of this place. He also looks for markings that might identify at least what purpose it was intended to serve.

Good knowledge rolls!
In 4629 ar, a year after Drezen was founded and a year before the First Crusade ended, several crusading paladins and priests built a number of chapels in the lands surrounding their new fortress city. Each of these chapels was devoted to a different deity of the crusade (mostly Iomedae, Erastil, Torag, Sarenrae, Shelyn, or Abadar—deities normally served by paladins), and each was intended to serve as a hospital for injured soldiers and a waystation for weary travelers.
The crusaders built one such chapel here, perched atop the cliff above and overlooking the river below. The specif ic deity to which this chapel was consecrated to is Iomedae.
The chapel sits atop the cliff, 90 feet above the Ahari gorge below. A narrow flight of stairs winds up the cliff face to the chapel.
As you make your way up he stairs you come to the gates of a small courtyard. The gates lie smashed and broken with tall grass growing amid the rubble. Two main buildings stand side by side to the east, separated by a single alleyway. The smaller structure appears to be a stable, while the other is much larger with several doors and stained-glass windows, apparently a chapel judging by the pious statues along its rooftop.
Updated Group B map.
Paritosh Jumbal |
Paritosh sits astride his mount and surveys the area. "Not a bad little place, if the creepy abandoned feeling doesn't bother you. Sir Bastion, do you get a sense of foreboding from the place, or shall I set the men to cleaning it up a bit?"
Arcessentes |
I got the feeling we are scouting ahead and the men are not with us. Not sure though.
This once holy place has fallen. Arcessentes states as he looks at the smashed gates. And has been behind enemy lines for some time. He lets the meaning of that hang in the air as he looks over the grounds.
Sir Bastion |
Paritosh, just wanted to point out we came up a 90' tall narrow flight of winding stairs to get to the chapel.
"This was a chapel to Iomedea. Let me see if the site has been over whelmed with evil's taint, or if the Inheritor still protects her site."
Sir Bastion cast detect evil, steps up a few paces and studies the area in front the group.
60' cone. Expecting the World Wound would skew this detection, but you never know.
Arcessentes |
The stable is smaller and will be quicker to secure. I recommend we go there first.
Arc will cast Mage armor on himself if it not already cast.
Cassandra Coté |
"Does anyone want a blessing against Evil then just in case we walk into something?" Cassandra asks, less concerned with demons and more concerned with anything occult that might be lurking in the temple, perhaps created by the energies of the Worldwound.
Sir Bastion |
As the magic of his detection spell scans through the immediate area, Sir Bastion also looks around the grounds in front of himself.

"The chapel has not been completely lost to the Abyss, The Inheritor has not forgotten this place and I can sense her grace faintly."

2 gargoyles, and they haven't done anything yet. Not necessarily in initiative. Arc, you basically know everything about gargoyles. Feel free to do whatever you want, and if something triggers initiative I'll get it rolling.
Arcessentes |
They do indeed appear to be gargoyles. Arcessentes notes quietly. They are resistant to non-magic weapons and can fly quite fast. They have good reflexes and attack with that horn you see as well as claws and teeth.
Sir Bastion |
"Sounds like a grand plan, Paritosh..ready when you are."

"Something you might not have thought of", Cassandra cuts in, speaking quietly. "Is that I can add a trigger to my channel energy. Which means that, say, if you wanted my channel energy to trigger when you charged something evil...well, I could do that. From a tactical point of view, its possible for us to trigger my channel energy ability multiple times - although this tactic would render my mythic power all but gone for the day"
Translation: I can use contingent channel on each and every one of you, effectively allowing us to trigger my Channel Energy (Harming Evil creature), multiple times in the one round for "spike" damage. If anyone has any better ideas on how to utilize the ability feel free to think about it, its only going to get stronger/more useful when I can add feats like Channel Force to it.
Paritosh Jumbal |
Mythic certainly adds some interesting possibilities to the game.
Ok, so Paritosh counts down, "three, two, one, now" and he declares a challenge against the gargoyle on the left as he charges, and power attacks it.
And I can do that surge thing for 1d6 on my to hit roll right?
+1 Cold Iron Falchion Hit: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 1 + 2 - 2 + (5) = 19

Not my most impressive attack roll ever, the surge certainly helps! Cross fingers!
Sir Bastion |
"Cassandra, can you 'trigger' Calistria grace to burst from yourself if one of us is dying?"
I don't believe you can have more than one contingency active at a time, per the description. Also can you word the contingency to trigger off of a condition on another character? Trigger: Sir Bastion is cut... Sir Bastion goes into another room and cuts himself. does the trigger activate.
Well now it looks like we are in initiative. ;)

Cassandra Coté |
Ah true, misread. I can word it to trigger it off the example you suggested, heck, I could even set it to trigger if someone uttered a specific word in Celestial if I wanted. I think using the ability for healing purposes as described above isn't particularly a good idea, since Channel is a notoriously poor way to heal in combat.
"Yes Sir, I can have my energy trigger under the condition you describe."
DM Pendin Fust |

Sir Bastion takes the hit from the charging gargoyle and laughs that the creatures feeble damage. He steps back a bit and calls to his goddess, "Inheritor, bless your servants and their allies as we vanquish the defilers of your holy site. Cassandra's negative energy affects the creatures passingly, but Paritosh's gleaming falchion cuts its target apart.
The second gargoyle attempts to flee towards the center of the ruined temple.
You can all take a shot at it.
Paritosh Jumbal |
Alright, then surging rocks, 5 times per day anyways.
As the gargoyle attempts to flee, Paritosh swings at it with surge. (An immediate take during my turn is simply my swift, right? So when it goes, I am using a true immediate to surge, thus using next round's swift.)
