DM Pendin Fust |
The door opens and the cultist at it looks surprised. "Lady Hosilla? Yes, come in, your entourage as well. I'll call for Faxon then?" He points to a door on the opposite wall.
Paritosh Jumbal |
Paritosh will walk slowly inside behind "Lady Hosilla" acting like a good man at arms, or cultist, whichever seems appropriate to the situation. In short, he tries to "look casual."
He won't say a thing. He won't make eye contact with anyone. Frankly, he's not sure that he isn't about to get killed for being Irabeth's spy into this den of thieves. And by "den of thieves" I include the other party members. This appears very strange to Paritosh.
Sir Bastion |
How is this man dressed/appear?
Sir Bastion will wait for the others to begin going in, revealing himself once others have entered. While moving forward slowly he will concentrate on the man that opened the door, to determine the level of taint the World Wound has inflicted on him.
Detect Evil on the man.
DM Pendin Fust |
He's dressed like other cultists you've come across, they don't seem to be overwhelmingly evil but they are definitely evil.
DM Pendin Fust |
The door opens and the cultist at it looks surprised. "Lady Hosilla? Yes, come in, your entourage as well. I'll call for Faxon then?" He points to a door on the opposite wall.
Should I assume that our Lady Hosilla clone is going to say yes?
Paritosh Jumbal |
Paritosh continues surveying the group, wondering which one will act first, "there are five of us, and two, soon to be three, of them. Faxon huh, probably the leader of this little band. I wish we had discussed tactics before coming here. Do we slay the alpha first, and then the herd, or best to handle the chaff, before the wheat? Is this all on the up and up? I wonder where the crusaders get such excellent bacon, even in times of great hardship. So the elf is a shapechanger, or is it just magic?"
Lirrathan |
I did post in the discussion that I would be sparse in posting while traveling.
Lirrathan enters the room and takes the place in stock. He looks over the defenses and any personnel they have. He steps over to the side of the door so the guards aren't watching too closely the entourage that follows him in. "No, why don't we just let the lazy fool sit on his arse and continue to do nothing.", he says dripping with sarcasm. "Of course I want you to call for him. Seriously, why even ask? I'm not here to just make a social call. I've got this to add to the stockpile," he pulls out the cool talking sword, giving him a reason to be armed when the Faxon character enters.
DM Pendin Fust |
Sorry Lirrathan! I completely thought it was Arc that was disguised! My bad guys!
Yes, it was a named sword called Radiance, you wouldn't really know about it though.
The cultist stumbles over himself as he opens the door in the back and he disappears down a set of spiraling stairs. A few minutes later a man with red skin comes up the stairs trailing the cultist.
The red man stops at the top of the stairs and says, "Hosilla. What are you doing above ground...and with that accursed sword out? Have you converted it already?"
Arcessentes |
Despite his best efforts the wizard likely looks tense as he readies to cast a spell IF hostilities break out. He stays behind Lirrathan in an effort to look subservient to him/her. Maybe this Faxon will reveal more information yet. Red skin. What manner of creature is he?

Lirrathan |
Lirrathan gets a self-satisfied smile on his face and answers, "Well, it cost me that stupid tiefling lapdog that was always following around, but I did it. All of you, gather around, and I'll show what I was able to do with it." As he says this he waves Faxon and the two other men closer to him, and tries to simultaneously wave the rest of his party around behind them so they are somewhat surrounded.
Bluff, 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 (+4 more vs. evil creatures when disguised).
Use Chance Encounter ability to reroll the bluff.
Bluff reroll 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 (still with +4 vs. evil)
Bluff, 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 to pass secret message for the others to surround them.

Attempt to identify the red skin man... can't see anything in your link :(

Detect Evil on Faxon
Accursed sword? Converted it? I wonder what would make these cultist concerned about with regards to a sword.
Understanding Lirrathan's message, Sir Bastion tries to maneuver himself closer to the individual identified as Faxon.
Paritosh Jumbal |
The link was bad for me too, I just didn't want to admit it.
Paritosh is likewise ready to join Sir Bastion in opening up a backpack of whoop-ass on Faxon.
"I bet the sword is Holy, and thus anathema to evildoers such as these."
DM Pendin Fust |
Apologies, here is a new link.
Yep, all your bluffs work (well, the reroll worked).
Faxon squints at Lirrathan-Hosilla, then comes over to look at the sword and whatever display is planned.
The other two cultists try to look like they are watching out of the windows and being good lookouts.
Paritosh Jumbal |
Arcessentes |
Arc looks interested as well. He drains his neck to better see whatever display Lirrathan-Hosilla might put on. Your show Lirrathan.
DM Pendin Fust |
My other Wrath group is relying on the Star Wars Han/Chewie fake prisoner bluff. It's worked so far.
DM Pendin Fust |
LOL. Very funny...it IS in these moments one does tend to do that...
Sir Bastion |
As the anticipation of a fight seems to slow time to a point that one could watch droplets fall over a waterfall, Sir Bastion will take a moment to concentrate on the remaining cultist, trying to sense if there is any hope for redeemption in him.
Detect Evil
Also, what does he see when he looks at the longsword? As this is the first time I believe Sir Bastion as seen it, can we get a description of it now that it is out?
Lirrathan |
Lirrathan does his best to maintain his composure and not smirk over the gullibility of these demons they keep coming across. In a display, he takes the sword and concentrates on it, feigning a quivering as he lifts it with both hands slowly skyward. He grits his teeth, clenches his fists around the grip.... and brings it down toward the unsuspecting Faxon. "Now!", he calls to ensure the others spring the trap with him.
Attack (a hopefully surprised) Faxon, two-handed 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24, damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Paritosh Jumbal |
I'll take some of that action!
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
On Faxon if possible, otherwise one of the mooks!
Heavy Shield Hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Heavy Shield Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8
If I'm flanking +2 more to hit.
If it's not Faxon then 2 less damage, as Faxon is my challenge buddy.
Sir Bastion |
Unsure if I am close to Faxon or if this a surprise round for us yet. All I know is The Inheritor watches over Sir Bastion.
Arcessentes |
Unsure if we were to act in the surprise round. If Arc does get to act he is going to step back 5' and ready magic missiles to shoot anyone who tries to cast a spell/use a spell like ability.
Init: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
DM Pendin Fust |
Yes, everyone acts in the surprise round and assume you are close enough to hit Faxon. Bastion, give me your attack/attacks then I'll know if Faxon's dropped. He's pretty close. And the other two cultists will likely flee if that happens.

Cold Iron Longsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Well that wasn't very effective.
