I'm certainly fine with holding onto them if we don't have anything specific we're looking to buy. The biggest thing I'd like for us to buy as a group is a wand of CLW and a few scrolls of lesser restoration.

If we can cover those purchases through the sale of other loot, then great. :)

OK, decided to check. When raging, with Aero's banner and moment of greatness, Nebbin would get an extra +6/+6

That would give him +13 to hit and 2d6+12 damage (+13 with mighty blow). At third level. Not bad.

WotR - A | Drezen | WotR - B | Righteous Medals

O_o. Awesome!

So 15 damage min (16 with mighty blow) and 24 max (25 with mighty blow). At 3rd level. I may have to go full HP on some of these encounters... :)

HP 47/52 :: AC 23 CMD 20 :: Fort +6 Reflex +4 Will +6 :: Perception -1 Initiative +0

Yah, I vote that we rename Nebbin to ... Wreck it Ralph!

Though it may be worth making sure we're using the spell correctly in that instance.

Does the spell allow the person to double all morale bonuses on a single roll? Or does it allow a single morale bonus to be doubled on a single roll?

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

It looks like a single morale bonus to me, so doubling Aero's banner or his own rage, not both.

Morale bonuses don't stack do they.

HP 47/52 :: AC 23 CMD 20 :: Fort +6 Reflex +4 Will +6 :: Perception -1 Initiative +0

I tend to agree with Ross's reading. So he could double the strength morale bonus on an attack roll, or on a damage roll, or the banner bonus on an attack roll, or the Will bonus on a will save, or whatever other way Nebbin is actively benefitting from a morale bonus.

Less useful, but still hella-useful.

Also, my computer just auto-corrected Nebbin to "nubbins". I think we have a new nick-name. :)

Morale bonuses don't stack, but Nebbin is enjoying morale bonuses to different things.

The banner gives a morale bonus to attack rolls, damage rolls, and saves versus fear and charm.
Rage gives a morale bonus to Strength, Con, and will saves.

So all of those stack (except maybe the will save bonus & save bonus).

Loot unaccounted for:

Potion of Invisibility — give to Aero as our only scout?
tanglefoot bag — who wants this?
antitoxin — who wants this? As the guy with Heal, Thom might be a good person for it
semiprecious gemstones — did these get appraised? let’s sell
2 scrolls from Hosilla’s lockbox — Thom can help ID these, if necessary.
+1 light wooden shield — who has this? If no one wants it, let’s sell it
Ring of Climbing — who has this? I say we hold onto it with our best climber until we no longer need it
scroll of identify — let’s give to Lucius or Aero, if they don’t already have it
2 potions of darkvision — Who has these? Give to Aero/Saoirse?
Kellid shale table — Has this been appraised? sell it? or is it likely a quest item?
2 (unclaimed) potions of CLW — Nebbin and Saoirse?
banded mail — was this brought along? I think so, in which case let’s sell it back

Lucius will go ahead and take the tanglefoot bag: it will go well with his supply of alchemist's fire. If Pirate Rob doesn't object, Lucius will take the scroll of identify.

I suggest Thom take the scrolls, now that we've identified them.

The light shield should be sold, I think: a +1 light shield is in the weird place of being no more useful than a mundane large shield, unless you really want to carry a torch in that hand.

The masterwork warhammer can be sold. I'm sure there's a paladin or cleric of Torag around who would be happy to have it. We also have two extra short swords. They don't have a lot of value, so someone might want them as a backup weapon. Otherwise we should sell them. Same for the last remaining crossbow - If anyone doesn't have a ranged weapon, we should keep it. Otherwise, the defenders can use it.

I don't think we took the banded mail.

I've updated the loot spreadsheet to show that Thom has the wand of spiritual weapon, antitoxin, and a crossbow.

A reminder, if you don't have edit permission on the spreadsheet, let me know your Google account and I can set you up.

Agreed on the limitations on the spell and the morale bonus breakdowns. :(

I'm fine with the breakdown. I suspect Nebbin's the best climber, so he can hold on to the ring of climbing for the moment (I'll add it to his list).

He'll be happy to take a CLW potion as well, though will happily give it back out if someone needs it.

Alright, starting to catch up with things, thanks everybody for your patience.

DM Pendin Fust: do you have any feelings regarding crafting feats, both in general and in regards to this AP. I am thinking of taking Craft Wondrous as my 3rd level feat.

WotR - A | Drezen | WotR - B | Righteous Medals

@Aero - I am a huge crafting fan and there will be some time (from time to time) to craft items. I tend to speed up the process somewhat depending on what is being crafted instead of just following the timing rules blindly. Are you planning to go down the Mythic Crafter (feat) route as well and the Mythic Craft (skill) route when we get there?

Human HP 21/21 | AC:16 T:11 FF:15 CMD: 13 | F+1 R+4 W+4 | Percpetion +7 | 30ft: +1 morale bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, and saving throws against fear and charm effects

I still haven't read the Mythic rules yet actually. Other than this game all my Pathfinder is PFS so I haven't had need to yet.

I'll go ahead and take Craft Wondrous and probably start reading up on Mythic.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

If Aero knows how to make items, Lucius will want to work with him to make a barbed pentagram of Asmodeus (from the new Inner Sea Gods book) out of his holy symbol.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

For the dinner, here are the things Lucius wants to bring to the Eagle Watch's attention:

1) The location of the Mongrelfolk/Neatholm and the possibility of an alliance
2) The false crusaders they've encountered (Baphomet cultists in the caves, but also the rogue/fallen ones raiding the library)
3) Locations of refugees at the library and Gwerm's estate.
4) Hosilla's note and the safe houses. The party should probably volunteer to raid these.

What else do we need to bring up?

WotR - A | Drezen | WotR - B | Righteous Medals

Ross, is that like the Barbed Pentacle of Asmodeus?

Hmm...someone (*coughRosscough*) has a copy of the Inner Sea Gods book that lucky dog! I don't and it hasn't released in PDF yet.

DM Pendin Fust wrote:

Yes, that's exactly what it is. There's a line in the Asmodeus write-up about how sometimes his followers use pentacles instead, which I read as 'Sometimes the art comes back with the pentagram upside down and there isn't time/money to fix it.'

I think those are the main things to mention, Ross.

Looking forward to checking out Inner Sea Gods. I've got a couple long plane trips coming up, so was thinking of downloading it for that. Along with possible the Osirion campaign setting to start thinking about Wayfinder entries...

Female Human Paladin/Marshal: 5/1 HP: 30/62 AC: 23(26 Smite, 20 No Shield) T: 12(15) FF: 21(24) CMD: 21(F:19) F: +11 R: +8 W: +13 Perception: +6, Immune Disease, Fear (+4 morale 10 ft.)

Saoirse is all up to date for level 3. Took my first Mercy, Sickened, along with gaining Aura of Courage (no more fear for me and +4 morale bonus vs fear for everyone) and Divine Health. So I'm immune to diseases now too. Unfortunately I'm rapidly falling behind Nebbin as far as damage goes. Even going two-handed with power attack and smite evil I'm maxing out at 1d8+11. :)

Also, I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I kind of like to roadmap my characters a bit and build them up to what I'd like to see them as at the max level of the campaign assuming I know in advance. Since WOTR ends at level 20 mythic rank 10 that's fairly easy to do. If people wanted to see what Saoirse could look like at level 20 with standard WBL of 880,000, I can post that up. It might give everybody a better idea of how Mythic characters in a campaign will look if we ever get that high up in WOTR. :)

I'd be interested in seeing a couple of milestone builds Saoirse!

I'll be out today, possibly posting later tonight. Taking the fiance to a doctor appointment in Thousand Oaks, CA and then we are hiking to see a waterfall.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

I'm trying not to roadmap Lucius too much, mostly because I hate deviating from the pre-made plan, even when it turns out I really need to spend a feat on Toughness to shore up Lucius's glass jaw or something.

I know for certain, though, that Leadership will be his 7th level feat, and that he will be taking magic circle against evil, planar binding, and dimensional anchor as soon as he can.

HP 92, +13 CMB, CMD 26, +2 Init, +9 Perception, AC 20/13T/17FF (-2 when raging), +10 Fort, +6 Ref, +3/+5 Will Human barbarian 8

I tend to more make notes for myself, for things I'd like to have, but play it be ear. I leave lots of OOC notes for myself in my character sheet for things I'd like to do/try.

Still, happy to see what you're thinking of doing with Saoirse. (Going for the fatigue mercy could be a good idea, as it could set up some rage cycling for Nebbin down the road.)

Also, I went with Combat Reflexes for my next feat, so Nebbin should be set to continue.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

I've been debating if I want to take the Diabolist PrC with Lucius. I could enter the class at 5th or 6th level if I spend a bunch of scrolls: at 7th if I'd rather at least cast the magic circle under his own power.

Pros:
Imp companion
Solid charisma boost for conjuring
Augment Summoning

Cons:
Lose bloodline spells and bloodline abilities
Missing bloodline feats
Lose favored class bonus

The imp companion can change shape to participate in combat and is generally useful take more actions. And the charisma bonus is tempting, but it applies to the least important part of planar binding. If that check fails, you just try again the next day. It's things like Spell DC (to call the creature in the first place) and Lucius's own charisma score (to keep it in the magic circle) that are most important.

The bloodline feats aren't anything special: Lucius has already taken the only one that matters (Spell Penetration). And the bloodline abilites he hasn't already gotten aren't super-special (except the capstone).

But the Bloodline spell are all things he'd want anyway, and he really needs those hit points (or the ability to get more spells via the human favored class bonus.)

Right now, I think my plan should be to stick with straight sorcerer: Lucius needs the favored class HP, and the Bloodline spells are all worthwhile.
Plus, I'm already planning on Leadership (to represent a Hellknight following) and having planar binding minions anyway, so throwing an imp companion on the pile is just too much, in terms of number of character sheets.

HP 92, +13 CMB, CMD 26, +2 Init, +9 Perception, AC 20/13T/17FF (-2 when raging), +10 Fort, +6 Ref, +3/+5 Will Human barbarian 8

While it seems like a neat PrC (I was thinking of a hellknight magus with an imp companion as a cool NPC had I gotten to pitch a module), I think you've raised sound considerations.

That said, remember we'll end up with +15 to stats by the end of the campaign, without even counting any benefits of magic items. I know I'm planning to split that mostly between Strength and Con (with some in Dex) vs. dumping them all into one stat, but you could get some pretty ridiculously high DCs if you stick 'em all into Charisma.

I have to admit, I'm kind of interested in statting out Nebbin now just to see how bad-ass he could get. I was "flipping" through the mythic rules and figuring out what his tier powers likely will be yesterday.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

Oh. I forgot about the Mythic stat bonuses. Sorcerers benefit most from Charisma, but I think at least some will go to Int (moar skill points!) and Con (see aforementioned glass jaw).

Also, did you know you can wear a circlet of persuasion and a headband of alluring charisma at the same time?

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Yeah, it's interesting playing Nebbin. I love my skill points -- I think that's why I love rogues so much (and my main PFS character is multiclassed into bard). I think Nebbin's the first character I've had with the favored class option has gone to hp instead of a skill rank.

He's a simple sort, our Nebbin...

HP 47/52 :: AC 23 CMD 20 :: Fort +6 Reflex +4 Will +6 :: Perception -1 Initiative +0

It sounds like there's more mechanical benefit from sticking with Sorc. Both are good options, considering how much of a power lift we'll be getting from Mythic.

I haven't really considered my future path with Thom, but multi-pathing Heirophant and Champion could be fun and thematically appropriate.

HP 47/52 :: AC 23 CMD 20 :: Fort +6 Reflex +4 Will +6 :: Perception -1 Initiative +0

Actually, this could be an excellent opportunity to take the Eldritch Heritage (Orc) feat chain. Skill focus (survival) makes him a decent tracker (great with the hounding the demons thing), the Orc angle is Thom learning to make the best if his situation, and I certainly won't turn down Thom having a ridiculous Str score in melee.

In that same vein, picking up a level of Unbreakable Fighter and the Deathless Initiate could be fun, as well. Pretty sure that would eat up all my feat slots until like 11th or 13th, though.

Still, might be worth it. :)

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

I had considered Heirophant for Lucius, but unfortunately, all the abilities specify divine spells. Instead he'll just go Archmage and reflavor abilities a bit.

HP 47/52 :: AC 23 CMD 20 :: Fort +6 Reflex +4 Will +6 :: Perception -1 Initiative +0

Pirate Rob, what mythic path is Aero thinking of taking? Instead of taking Crafting feats, he might want the Crafting Mastery mythic power.

I've only started to glance at the mythic stuff, but it's on my to-do list for next week.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

Alternatively, if you're willing to wait awhile (since we don't know when we'll gain mythic tiers), Lucius could take that as his 2nd mythic tier ability, which would take are of all our crafting needs.

Alright, so here's what Saoirse could look like at level 20. I didn't really milestone her as much as just build the character at level 20. Obviously the items are based on a WBL straight buy which doesn't reflect real game play so its probably best to think of this as an idealized Saoirse.

Wow. I like the damage: 1d8+56. It's that 1d8 that'll get you every time. :)

Looks pretty badass but shouldn't you have some spells too? (Or am I just not seeing them/they disappeared with an archetype?)

What are you planning to do with the intelligent ability for your sword?

ETA: Decided to check out a couple demon lords (not saying which one, and I have no idea if we will actually face him/her or not), and their attack lines are +51/+46/+41/+36 and +46/+41/+36/+31 so we may need to boost AC even more.

Female Human Paladin/Marshal: 5/1 HP: 30/62 AC: 23(26 Smite, 20 No Shield) T: 12(15) FF: 21(24) CMD: 21(F:19) F: +11 R: +8 W: +13 Perception: +6, Immune Disease, Fear (+4 morale 10 ft.)

The spells are lost for Warrior of the Holy Light Archetype. Which trades away spells and the aura of faith for two decent abilities that really fit the way I see Saoirse. By 20th level, Saoirse's Power of Faith ability will give all of us a +2 morale bonus to AC, attack rolls, damage rolls, and fear saves. Along with being able to provide a 2d4 restoration effect, energy resistance 20 to 1 energy type plus a 50% chance of crits not critting.

Also, as I mentioned, this is just using abilities that Saoirse can activate herself. If you include even 3 reason buff spells, for example, Mythic Haste, Mythic Blessing of Fervor, and Righteous Might, her stats become AC 52 with this attack pattern:

sacred avenger +48/+48/+48/+43/+38/+33 (2d6+58/19-20+2d6 vs. Evil)
heavy shield bash +48/+48/+48/+43/+38 (3d6+41)

As for intelligent weapons, that one is much more tricky because it really needs a lot of back and forth with the DM but if I was going to build that blind I'd probably pick Communication (telepathy), holy smite 3/day, Blessing of Fervor 3/day, with a special purpose to defeat/slay Evil Outsiders giving it an at will Holy Word versus Evil Outsiders dedicated power.

Armor Class is a major problem at higher levels especially when going up against demigod creatures pushing CR 28-30. Unfortunately while I could probably push to an AC of 80 if I really tried, the diminishing returns going for that kind of AC create means I'd rather focus on buffing my allies and dealing out better damage. Between Words of Hope and Focus allowing allies to reroll all of their rolls except for damage, Clarion Call giving everyone my Smite, Visionary Commander letting all of us roll twice for Initiative and giving full-round actions in surprise rounjds, plus my Lay on Hands & Mercies. I think I'm buffing the party pretty well despite not having spells. :)

HP 47/52 :: AC 23 CMD 20 :: Fort +6 Reflex +4 Will +6 :: Perception -1 Initiative +0

Well, I'm very likely to have Blessing of Fervor as we get high enough. As for keeping our AC's up ... I don't think that's going to be all that possible with Thom. Then again, I don't play much high level games, so I don't know all the tricks for boosting AC.

: shrugs :

On some preliminary numbers-running, it looks like I could get Thom up to some ridiculous numbers. A bastard sword (RAgathiel's favored weapon) that crits at a 17 for x3, running with a mega-strength of around 54, Improved Vital Striking with Furious Focus. Hopefully while still being able to contribute to Buffing, heal-bombs when necessary, and Mega-intimidating.

If I got a crit to land, it's like x5 the base damage of the attack ... which is awesome (though obviously i'm sacrificing iterative attacks... something i'm willing to do on a 3/4 bab class).

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

Lucius will likely take Enduring Armor at some point and have the typical AC boosters, but his AC will never be spectacular. He's going to have to take the typical non-armor wearing route of hiding behind miss chances via displacement, mirror image, and similar effects. Also, hopefully an entourage of expendable devils.

But level 20 is a long ways off.

HP 47/52 :: AC 23 CMD 20 :: Fort +6 Reflex +4 Will +6 :: Perception -1 Initiative +0

Trudat. We gots lotsa demon face to punch before any of this cones into play. :D

WotR - A | Drezen | WotR - B | Righteous Medals

Demon Lords you may have looked at motteditor...did you look at them with stats in their demesne? Because that boosts them ridiculously. But yes, in general Demon Lords are supposed to be extremely hard to defeat even with Mythic.

Lucius, I'm ok if you want to go Hierophant and would like to reskin abilities to work with arcane instead of divine. It would make total sense with your end-goal.

Saoirse...yikes! I can't wait to get there and see this!

Thom, there's lots of little tricks and many of them will involve temporary buffs. Your build should almost take some of the critical feats with that bastard sword!

I am debating on some of the Mythic Crafter stuff...If Aero becomes focused on it...I might very well allow you to craft some things as a standard action. If a character focuses on mythic crafter...I've always thought of Hephaestus as an example and that would totally make sense if Aero goes to a corner and starts churning out things like [i[tanglefoot bags[/i] or bane swords in battle. I'll have to look over some of that as well.

Mythic Tiers will be coming soon...I promise. So start brushing up!

Also, If anyone is going Guardian...you basically gain the ability to negate a single attack at any time. So that Demon Lords +56 initial hit can be gotten around :) A Marshal (which COULD make sense for Lucius too) and a Guardian make for a formidable team in the playtest I ran.
