Within the cavern, the dim light fades into darkness to the north and the south. The cavern stretches nearly 100 feet in each direction, but is otherwise unremarkable save for the inlet and outlet of the ancient river responsible for creating this chamber and most of the surrounding tunnels over the centuries. The river through this part of the cavern ranges from 10 to 15 feet wide but is only 1 foot deep, and it flows languidly at an almost imperceptibly slow speed.

Suddenly a quiet voice echos through the cavern. The group sees two small reptilian creatures ahead.

"ինչ է, որ?!"

draconic:

"What's that?!"

The elven enchantress's ears perk up at the sound of reptilian voices speaking in a language she knows. She hustles forward, hoping for a better look, and stops next to Jivan. She calls out in Draconic.

Draconic:
"The great wyrm Anshasaralxan sends us to your tribe. Prostrate yourselves in awe of her majesty!"

Even as she says this, she calls to mind a spell should either of the two get within range. Ready an action to cast charm person should either come within 25 feet.

"Don't attack yet," the elf says lowly. "I'm trying to convince them we work for a dragon who wants their obeisance."

Ansha returns to speaking in Draconic, calling out across the river to the small reptilians again.

Draconic:
"The great Anshasaralxan does not send her minions to attack, but to bring all under her benevolent leadership. Who dares attack you, her future subjects?"

The kobolds look at each other in astonishment.

"ठीक है ठीक है! हम जनजाति के बाकी बता जाना होगा । आप पास कर सकते हैं । सही वहाँ जाल से सावधान रहें" one says.

draconic:
Okay, okay! We will go tell rest of tribe. You can pass. Be careful of trap right there.

The kobolds disappear into tunnels too small for the group to follow, but the cavern does continue into a tunnel continuing on in roughly the same direction. Continuing on, the group begins to hear the faint sounds of combat echoing through the tunnel to the east.

A familiar woman’s voice half-shouting and half-reciting, “As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!”

Incidentally, if they ask who the dragon is, her name is Anshasaralxan. Presumably, I am named for her," she winks. With that, she follows the party deeper into the tunnel and around the trap the kobolds so helpfully pointed out.

As the party travels deeper into the tunnels, the elf's ears twitch. "Definitely sounds like Janira," she agrees with Jivan. "What is she fighting, though?"

As the group runs toward the sounds of battle, Stonetree suddenly holds up a hand.

"Kame, stop!"

He can step back 5'; it moves 15' and overruns him. If he takes his AoO, he gets no save vs. paralysis. Getting into melee with these things is a gamble--can you do enough damage to stop it outright? If not, you're in a world of hurt (and in the cube as well).

Yeah, good point. I had run it like it attacked him with the slam, but he moved out of the way, so it did a 5' step. I probably should have done it the way you suggested.

The combined assault from the group leaves the ooze dripping from the walls and pooled on the floor, but no longer a sentient threat.

The group runs quickly down the eastern tunnel, and filtered moonlight appears at the end of the tunnel. The light of the surface world above provides a welcome reprieve from the blue and green fungus of the caverns below, and light illuminates a stream whose water is hastened by runoff from a recent storm further up the mountains. A ledge to the west rises up to the nearby forest canopy.

In a clearing below, Janira faces off against the monstrous beast; she is clearly fatigued and outmatched in the bright moonlight.

Janira calls out into the moonlight, “And it was Selmius Foster’s race against a marid and efreeti on the isle of Jalmeray, which taught us that nothing is truly impossible and every situation can end in victory.” everyone under the effect of Inspire Courage, +1 atk/+1 dmg

She steps back and tries to disarm the beast with her whip, but the minotaur holds its battleaxe firmly. In retaliation, the beast falls on Janira with axe and horn. One of the blows lands solidly, leaving the halfling swaying on her feet.

Terrain is difficult terrain (each square costs 2 movement). The stream is treated as rough water, and will need a str check to navigate. The log across the stream could also work for passage, but appears slick and will need an acrobatics check. Go!
