Tactical Map updated.
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn dodges the wild attack from the enemy, then wordlessly turns that momentum into another swing from his magically enhanced staff. With any luck this unpleasant business will be over in moments, and they can get back to the reason they came here in the first place. This fight has been so engrossing he's almost forgotten why that was.

Min Zuin |
Min just stands still and let the others take care of the final enemy. "Is that all of them? Can we get that drink and chat with our new friend now?"
DM RichD |
The last of the skulks is torn up by Hilde. Kaetrik smiles. I had them right where I wanted them! She then walks over to the bar and calls down to the cowering barkeep. You can come out now. My new friends have taken care of your rat infestation. You can repay them with a drink.
The barkeep slowly rises and takes stock of the dead wererat skulks. He nods and quickly begins pouring each of you a drink.
Hilde Tuva |
Hilde needs healing for her Bleed to end, right?
Hilde kneels, panting, breathing heavily while she transforms into her normal human self.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
She looks fiercely at the barkeep, and at the bottle, without saying anything, but showing her... unhappiness... with his bottle selection with her eyes.
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn takes a quick, deep breath of relief once the combat is over. Now that they're not fighting against greater numbers he quickly heads over to Hilde, who took the brunt of the assault, and presses his one prepared cure spell into the place where she seems to be the worst for wear.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
That done, he ignores the drinks poured in favor of wiping cleaning off his quarterstaff. He looks at Kaetrik as he does so, considering the combat to be as much of an icebreaker as they could possibly need. "So, uh, we heard you know some information we've been looking for. Do you want to talk here? I might normally suggest going someplace more private, but I feel like we've just made this place a lot safer than most."
Hilde Tuva |
Hilde stands with Iskender's help (maybe he doesn't realize it, but for her to let him help her is something that shows how much she has come to trust in him, as she wouldn't show any weakness to anyone normally). She smiles at him and to Dilwyn, thanking them silently for the heals.
She then goes to the bar, moves behind it, and starts looking for the good stuff for her and his friends.
If Kaetrik as much makes a face to her, she will growl at him.
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn's increasingly scraggly beard is insufficient to hide the look of surprise on his face. "Whoa, wait a second," he says, leaning on his now (mostly) clean quarterstaff to recover himself. "You've heard of us? How? Where?"
Min Zuin |
Min moves up to the bar. She points to a liquor that looks expensive. "We just saved you. I'd like some of that one please."
"Private is good. I'd like to know what you heard. Please tell us this wasn't some kind of silly test. I'll be very upset." She responds to Kaetrik.
Dilwyn Blevins |
"Ah. I guess I just didn't expect word to travel quite so quickly or comprehensively," Dilwyn muses. "Lomrick is actually why we wanted to seek you out. Can you tell us more about who or what he is? Where we might be able to find him? And I'll take the bait and ask who Relstanna is as well."
DM RichD |
Lomrick is an agent of the hegemony. He is a jagladine, which is uncommon here in Zel-Argose. He prefers to act through intermediaries and proxies while in the city, and he’s well-financed enough for certain Coteries to indulge his secrets and his privacy. As a result, Lomrick seldom mingles with anyone, except in the highest strata of the city’s social elite. Relatanna is my boss. He believes he can repair some sort of gate. I want to find her and rescue her. Since it seems we are both looking for Lomrick, it sounds like our goals are aligned.
Min Zuin |
Min gives the woman a long look, "It sounds like we might all be heading in the same direction. Is your goal just to rescue your boss or to upset Lomrick's plans?"
DM RichD |
”What do you know about the location or functioning of this gate?”
I believe that she is being held in Lomrick's estate. I was trying to find out from these rats what I could learn about it. I thought I was going to have to do it alone, but maybe now that I found some street owners!
"It sounds like we might all be heading in the same direction. Is your goal just to rescue your boss or to upset Lomrick's plans?"
It is to rescue my boss. It also sounds like my boss might be able to help you as well. How bout I make you all a deal. I'll pay you 2,000 gold..gold is valuable on your planet correct? If you rescue my boss from the estate. I will in the meantime use my contacts to prevent any klaven reinforcements being sent to aid Lomrick. His estate is already guarded enough as it is. Do we have a deal?
Min Zuin |
"Give us a minute to talk about it." She waves the other over to the end of the bar to talk about what they should do.
"What do you think? I feel there are more questions we should as but on this world I don't know what we should be prepared for. I think we should at least ask about his guards and any security measures Lomrick has at his home. We should also ask the woman looks like we are looking for. Anything else you can think of?"
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn shrugs. "Those are good questions," he agrees. "The only other one I can think of at the moment is where to find his estate. And," he brushes an errant lock of hair from his forehead as he goes extra quiet, "while I don't think we have any particular reason to be distrustful of any information she gives us, I can always turn into a bird and give the place a fly-over for some light observation before we try anything."
Min Zuin |
Min gives a nod and walks back to Kaetrix, "We have some more questions before we agree. Where can we find the estate, can you tell us about the guards and safety measures, what does your employer look like, is there any way that we can let her know you sent us. We're more interested in information on the gates than gold, but we won't turn it down. You never know when it will be needed."
She waits for the response to her questions.
DM RichD |
Kaetrix smiles as there seems to be an agreement. Glad to have you aboard! The estate is a two-story manse in an upper-class district of Zel-Argose. You can approach his property from the front or back. The structure has few windows at ground level, but the second story includes two 15-foot-high balconies. Zel-Argose has no actively patrolling city-watch, other than agents of the Office of the Auditor who typically limit their regulation to business and trade. Consequently, most homes maintain their own private security. I know he has klaven guards and some of these skulks as guards. She says indicating the corpses. As for my boss, she is an elali. Just tell her that Trixie sent you. She is the only one that calls me that. If you are not interested in gold, perhaps ale?
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn sighs uncomfortably, and gives his companions a mildly exasperated look. "I don't think we should pass up the money," he says. "We don't know how long we're going to be here, for one, and we can't pay for food and lodging in ale. Second, and this is entirely a personal matter, but you may have noticed that I have no interest in ale. Such a payment is useless to me. You that enjoy it can spend money for it, but I can't spend ale on anything else more suitable to my tastes."
He breathes deeply, having gotten that rather awkward speech off his chest. He turns back to Kaetrix. "You said your boss is an 'elali,' but I'm not sure what that means. Is that a title? A species? Can you give us a physical description to compare with? And a name?"
