Min Zuin |
"I'm willing to take a tour of the taverns. I'd like to find someone who can tell me more about the stars here, but that can wait until later." Min looks resigned to an evening pub crawl with her new companions.
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn shrugs. "What's that saying about a word to the wise?" he asks. "I can't remember. Sayings are usually the first things to be forgotten when you spend months at a time without ever speaking to another person. That's not the point, though. I've lost what it was, though." He shrugs again, now feeling lost on both a physical and metaphorical level.
With the plan seemingly decided, he'll spend the evening engaging in conversation and attempting to gather information about their quarry.

Iskender |
Iskender looks perplexed, "What do you mean you want someone to tell you about the stars? Stars are stars! If you've seen one, you have seen them all. I mean, really, at this time of year, you look to the east at an hour after dusk, and the Sword of Iomedae will be just rising in the sky."
Min Zuin |
"Come with me tomorrow night, and we'll see if we find the Sword of Iomedae in the sky. If we see it, we'll know we are closer to home than I believe we are." Min responds to Iskender.

Reaching the Welcome Wench Inn is simple. You are able to rent two rooms for the night, one for the ladies and one for the men. Once the rooms are rented, you can start your carousing and investigations in the bar area of this Inn, before moving on to other taverns in the area.
There are all manner of creatures both here and in the other taverns. From humans, that speak differing languages, although everyone seems to understand the local trade language, to some kind of dwarves, and elves that you are used to seeing, as well as other creatures. A four armed humanoid, who could pass for human if he didn't have the extra pair of arms. A creature with strange tattoos belie this humanoid’s alien nature where the midpoint of its head splits like a flower with lavender skin overlapping its exposed brain. A creature that looks part human, part machine. A creature that in your world would probably be considered some kind of humanoid rat, plus others just as fantastical. As the Baeden said, this is definitely a hub world of sorts with all the differing beings.
Dilwyn tries to gather information on Lomrick, but your lack of knowledge about the world limits the opportunity to engage with the folks and you learn nothing of interest tonight.
Min however, while you are walking around the town, looks up into the clear sky and she sees stars and constellations, does not recognize any of them.

Being amiable has some benefits, at least for Min and Iskender, as the two of them obtain some interesting information.
Min hears that the Battle Pits is actively recruiting new participants for matches, and the pay is quite good.
Iskender hears that a new gang called the Redfists are intimidating and harassing the people that live in an enclave near the water treatment plant after they people went to the authorities about the Redfists giving illicit drugs to their underage children.
Kit just gets a little drunk on the good ale that the various bars have.
Hilde bumps into a humanoid creature, that has some metallic parts, and growls. As soon as she does, the bartender shouts out, "Thud, and you Missy, no weapons in here or take it outside!" The half man half construct growls back at Hilde, drops his shield and sword and pushes back, "ready when you are Missy."

"I'll take that bet, Missy" replies the bartender, laying two gold pieces on the counter.
As Iskender plays a fighting song on his new lute, and drinks ale, the Inn patrons begin placing bets. All are a few silver coins, as this bar is not in the richest neighborhood. After a few moments, the odds end up being 4 to 3 in favor of the bar patron and against Hilde.

The barkeep picks up his two gold off the bar, and looks at Min with his hand out, not saying anything. All around the room folks are settling the bets, and you hear "Thud hasn't lost a fight yet" and "she was good, but not good enough."

Hilde, smiling with bloody teeth, laughs in a very good mood!
She goes to Thud, and kiss him on the lips.
She answers Kit and Iskender.
"Next time I'll beat him! For Thud!"
She raises her glass, saluting the victor.

Looking fixedly on Thud, Hilde smiles and shakes her head, fire in her eyes.
Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
To Thud! Kit joins in and finishes the remainder of his last ale for the night. If she had won, I would be set! he thinks to himself. He then remembers Dilwyn words of caution about over indulgence and as he puts his empty tankard on the bar, he turns to him and says, Not by choice, my friend, not by choice!
Dilwyn Blevins |
Dilwyn, recognizing the importance for his companions to blow off steam, was content not to intervene as Hilde got into an (apparently) friendly fight with a stranger. He sits, content for now to just be, though he smiles his appreciation when Kit thinks twice about going overboard with the drinking.
Often a quiet person, tonight he's mentally reviewing the interactions he had with these new people today, and supplementing that by watching the other strangers around him. He's trying to learn how to blend in a bit better, so that maybe people might be more forthcoming with the information they need tomorrow.

The night progresses on, and at closing time, you all head back to Inn that you are staying at, and get a good nights sleep. The next morning comes, and while most of you shake off the excess drinking a couple are not as able as normal, although you are rested, and the spell casters are able to remember / memorize spells.
Breakfast is a simple meal of bread and an oatmeal type of porridge, with your choice of watered down ale, wine or plain water. After breaking your fast, you are ready to tackle the day. Two leads from the night before, the Battle Pits, and the Redfists gang.

Kit 'Skylark' Bridger |
I say we go uhh..'talk' to these Redfists. Giving drugs to children ain't right no matter what world we're on! Kit says with a grimace as he finishes off the last of the watered-down ale and remembers the delicious ale from the night before.
Min Zuin |
"We could use some money. Do you think dealing with the Redfists will get us enough money to live on for a while?" Min sighs at it's more ale or water. No coffee or tea to be seen.
Dilwyn Blevins |
"I guess people are people wherever you go," Dilwyn agrees, shrugging. "I can get on board with putting a stop to giving children drugs." He pauses, thinking for a moment. "Though I suppose there are times when it's appropriate. Like healing drugs. We're pretty sure this is about the addicting, intoxicating kind. Right?"
Min Zuin |
"Let's go find out Dilwyn. We can talk to some of the parents and see what they have to say about the drugs and the gang."
Hilde Tuva |
Hilde shakes her head, hard, making his neck make a "snap" sound, smiles, and jump up.

Deciding to head over to the water treatment plant section of town(#11 on map), and find out if the drugs are healing or addicting, you leave the Inn and walk to the north side of town.
As you get near the treatment plant, after several hours of wandering around the neighborhood, and looking down all the alleys , you see six men, all with a red mark on the back of their left hand giving a small pouch with some kind of powder in it to the children surrounding them. As each of the younger children receive a pouch they quickly open it and swallow the powder, and then sit down, their eyes glazing over. The older children, perhaps in their early teens, give the men some coins, and the one teenager that doesn't seem to have coins is backhanded by one of the Redfists and he falls down, seeming to beg for more of the powder.

Iskender whispers to his friends, "just so I'm clear on this. Are we upset that the poor kid got none? That they slapped the kid? Or that they are selling the stuff to kids?"
Hilde Tuva |
Hilde moves towards the Redfist that backhanded the teen, punching one hand against the palm of the other, a wide smile on her face.
If you want to stop her from starting a fight, now is your time.
Dilwyn Blevins |
"We strongly suspect that we're the good guys," Dilwyn points out as an addendum. He quickly goes up to put a hand on Hilde's shoulder, hoping that will give her the cue to hesitate just a little bit.
"What's going on here?" he asks, trying to sound affably and mildly interested. "What's that stuff? It looks potent. What does it do and how much is it?"
Iskender |
Iskender pipes into the conversation, "Indeed, what is it? We are new around here, but are interested in the local customs and habits. We could not help but notice just how popular your product is with the kiddies, and were wondering if we should either try it, or consider getting into the business of redistribution."
