Ayo's body tenses up as everyone bunches up around her, the samurai clearly uncomfortable being so close to so many people. She attempts to swing at the hobgoblin from around the door frame.

But she appears to be distracted too much by the mass of people, and her sword clinks off the door frame.


@Zartan: Coup de gras on a hobgoblin would be a full-round action, which would mean it wouldn't be possible on the same round you leap onto the altar. Up to you whether you want to actually strike the unconscious hobgoblin for damage (you can keep the damage roll) or do something else this round.

Sam, seemingly forgoing all safety of the wall, steps into the doorway, to confront the injured hobgoblin. "At least, *cough* these aren't skeletons." he mutters as he swings his hammer.

As he swings, his lungs cause him to violently expel mucus as he coughs in the hobgoblins face, causing the hammer swing to slam into the doorway instead.

The lone hobgoblin in the door fares better than his wounded friend, continuing to dodge incoming attacks. He strikes back at Sam, his sword scraping across the boy's shoulder (3 damage).

Suddenly, with a pop a skeleton appears next to Zartan and tears into his skin, tossing some of the man's flesh to the ground (3 damage).

The hobgoblin priest gestures and chants again, as a swirly mist rises up, proving both of them with cover. (20% concealment to strike H3 now for those adjacent, 50% for those further away).

Sam cringes as the hobgoblin cuts him, fearing that any more of his blood spilled might cause him to die and in his anxiety, he bashes the creature in the face.

Ayo fumes at the prattling of the halfling girl, both at her presumption at both the Most Gracious Poetic Form of Ayo's homeland and her presumption that Ayo would follow brook such insulting orders from such a madcap girl. Ayo stares directly at the halfling girl, the light of her golden eyes turning searing.

"Form without meaning,
All devoid of sentiment.
Merely schoolyard jibes."

The samurai draws forth the power of the Empress of Heaven, suffusing her body with the same glow as her eyes.

"The Great August Goddess Who Shines in the Heavens has pronounced her judgment. This humble, unworthy, clumsy fool must obey."

She begins walking towards Haffley, but abruptly turns left through the door, her gaze still on the halfling, ensuring that the girl knew that Ayo had consciously disregarded her orders.

With a final gesture, the hobgoblin behind Sam rises up again (this provokes an AoO from Sam), moaning as it returns to unlife. Sam can observe the combat with Zartan through the giant cleft in the zombie's head left behind by Oddr.

The north wind breathes a soft breath and a single leaf falls. She holds her sword aloft as the piece of green rocks in the wind.

She brings her sword down on the leaf. But the leaf is not a leaf.

The skelton struggles to circumvent the altar in pursuit of Zartan and turns its ire towards the halfling nuisance. It swipes with both claws with little result, and despite a fact that cannot show emotion, seems frustrated at the futility.

The priestess chants again, wiggling a finger at Ayo (cause fear at Ayo, make a Will save).

The zombie groans and swings a massive arm at Sam who dodges the blow.

Ayo stands firm against the hobgoblin, her body tranquil and unmoving.

Despite the samurai's protestation, the hobgoblin's spell still had some effect upon her. There are still yet some things that she fears.

Sam sighs in relief as the zombie lurches forward and his claw clangs uselessly off his armor. "Just *cough* go back to *cough* being dead." he says as he takes another swing, but he whiffs as the cloud cause him to misjudge how far the undead is from him.

"Get 'im, Otter!" Haffley cries out, ducking and weaving to the other side of the lumbering zombie, lashing out with her pick in order to distract it.

"Hit 'im from the other side now, eewwww, this one is all juicy instead of boney!"

Moving to the square I placed myself in, then readying standard action to Aid Another to give Oddr a +4 to hit on his next attack if he steps into a flank on the zombie.

The priestess once again works her magic, trying to erode at Ayo's courage (cause fear again, remember -2 on this save since you're now shaken). The zombie hobgoblin continues to flail at Sam with little success thanks to his armor.

@Haffley: I'm fine either way if you want to consider your ready as having gone off or not - in either case you have an action between the enemies after their round 7 actions and ahead of their round 8 actions to take.

Nah, Oddr didn't take the action I outlined for activating my Ready action, so it does not go off. I was pretty clear on what needed to happen for activation and it did not occur.

Haffley screeches in anger and frustration, hopping onto the altar before her in order to get behind the zombie flailing through the doorway.

Acrobatics to hop onto altar/table: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
(I'm pretty sure this beats a standard table hop, so I'm not going to Derring-Do it.)

Acrobatics to avoid AoO from zombie: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Haffley sets her feet, swiping at the zombie in order to distract it from the sound of panicked coughing emanating through the doorway.

I'll continue to GMPC Zartan. Crit-fishing is better than no action. I really combed over the mesmerist abilities, and it's rough to be fighting undead at this level and be out of your level 1 spells...

Zartan works to land a bolt in the zombie from a safe distance. His concern for his allies means his aim goes way wide.

The priestess continues her assault against Ayo while babbling away in Abyssal.

Abyssal:
"So, your mind is well-guarded. How about your soul, wench?"

After some more chanting, her hand begins to glow with a dark grey energy and she reaches out to touch the inquisitor. Just as her hand seems about ready to touch Ayo, the inky darkness dissipates (14 negative energy from an inflict moderate wounds AVOIDED).

The freshly made headless zombie continues to flail wildly at Sam, but has little chance as its distracted by Haffley.

Ayo swings her katana once more at the hobgoblin, taking some small comfort from knowing that the protection of Shizuru was with her today.

You're not shaken. Either way it would be ruled, it would've ended at the beginning of R8-Init12 or beginning of R8-Init11, which happen way before R9-Init10.

Sadly AC17 is still a miss.

Ayo tries to capitalize on the priestess's distraught at landing her evil, bleeding spell but finds the "woman" still well protected.

The hobgoblin also seems to have no idea what Ayo is saying (tongues curse I keep forgetting).
