Alright I'm assuming Mobled let's go and is standing on the edge of the pit. Doruk, standing on the edge attacks, then steps 5ft back.

Two of the gricks disappear from sight as Mukluk's extra-dimensional pit stretches the very fabric of the cave away from your view. Doruk, standing on the edge, slices at one of the creatures before he backs away.

The two writing in the pit emit shrieks and hissing noises clearly indicating their displeasure in being dislodged from the rocky terrain they were hiding in. One makes a couple futile attempts to wiggle out, while the other slithers up and closes in on Doruk. (AoO from Doruk, neither get to attack this round)

The last one seems to not even realize that Tiabrar or Mukluk backed away and instead focuses on the wily thief that now stands in front of it, latching on it's mouth for the briefest of moments to Petrel's arm. (-5HP to Petrel)

I think everyone is clear (ie not grappled), so...

Failing to kill the creature, Doruk takes the advice of wiser men then he, and withdraws from combat, moving a double move away from the creatures.

I do not like fleeing, but these creatures are entirely too tough for us! We must withdraw and find another way to fight them.

Mukluk facepalms as he sees the daft elf daftly shooting the daft grick uselessly.

"Use magic or the like you fool elf!" Mukluk yells in the elf's ear, hoping the close proximity will penetrate the dense brain structure of the 'archer'.

Mukluk will fire a Magic Missile from his wand at the most injured Grick (#1, I think) and move another 20' back.

Mobled does let go of the grick, cursing her cousin as she does so. She then charges through her comrades at the grick that did not fall, brushing roughly against Mukluk down as she passes. She attempts to grapple said grick.

Dragon Style allows her to charge through friendlies and ignore rough terrain while charging.

Well so do I. In fact I don't like the taste of non-magical weapons. I guess he was trying to say they're resistant to regular weapons. Why didn't he just say that?

Martigan goes before Doruk, and Doruk will not flee if he has a magic weapon to attack the fiends and while his friends remain behind to fight, so he does NOT run this round but rather attacks. While he's sure his weapon passes DR now, I'm not so sure, but the extra d4 certainly does.

Doruk, emboldened by the magicing of his guisarme, stays in the fray and continues to attack the first grick.

@Martigan: The grick that was threatening you is now 10ft down in a pit, so you can freely move to Doruk's location and cast the spell.

@Petrel: Since Mobled moved over to grapple Grick#3, you can make an Acrobatics check to flank. Go ahead and roll sneak attack damage.

@Doruk: Check, revising your action to stay and fight (but likely take a 5ft step back to use your reach weapon).

Latest Map (only change is Grick#2 is in the square south of Mobled.

Tiabrar's arrow bounces off the thick hide of the grick, which seems to now be completely oblivious of the elf, and is drawn inexplicably towards Petrel.

Petrel attempts to dodge past the it while Mobled moves in, but the tentacled monster quickly punishes the thief for his attempt, as it's massive maw chomps down on him twice. Petrel responds by dragging his magic knife along it's gut as the hideous creature howls in pain. (-12HP to Petrel, and the grick stays in the flank, dumb creature that it is)

Doruk, splitting his effort between defense and a powerful swing, just barely misses the writhing creature as it nicks him again, just as Mukluk's arcane bolt discharges and ripples across it's scaly hide. (-2HP to Doruk)

The last one finally worms it's way free of the pit and moves to engage Mobled. (AoO from Mobled)

Lacking a magical weapon Tiabrar pulls out an alchemist fire and throws it at a grick not next to a party member--if one exists. Otherwise he readies for this.

On Sun Metal, I haven't read anywhere if it overcomes DR, or in this case if it's just adding the extra fire damage?

Also I noticed Doruk rolled 1d6 for the fire damage instead of 1d4? Is there a boost to the spell I'm missing?

I just figured on the fire bypassing DR and not making the weapon magical, I think Doruk might have though I'd given his weapon the flaming property instead? Overall Magic Weapon is starting to look like a more useful spell to memorize if we live.

Mobled misses as one of the horrors climbs from the pit, but then takes out her drunken range on the creature that she's teaming up with Petrel against. Her roundhouse kick knocks it just out of the reach of Petrel's dual knife swings, but Mukluk's force missile sizzles across it's scaly hide and it drops to the ground.

Tiabrar can't find an opening to lob his flask, as one grick is standing toe-to-toe with Mobled, and the other is standing toe-to-toe with Martigan...

The two creatures rear up, their tentacles wriggling in anticipation, but both Mobled and Doruk easily avoid all their numerous attacks.

@Doruk: Mukluk kills Grick #1 just ahead of you, but it's natural for you to step forward to attack Grick #2 instead.

@Tiabrar: You watch as the grick you thought you would throw an alchemist at dies and don't use it.

A coordinated assault from the elf and dwarf wizard brings down the creature that Doruk was dancing with, while Doruk and Petrel shift their focus to stab and slice at the lone remaining creature that Mobled is rolling around with.

Tiabrar pulls out another flask of alchemist fire and waits in case the grick escapes (or kills) Mobled.


Petrel sinks his non-magical dagger into the struggling creature's hide and tears it along it's body, spilling out it's insides onto the rough cavern floor.

The grick wiggles on for a little moment, but soon remains motionless as Mobled continues to hold it's dead form.

Combat over! Will post the examination of the door next should you all decide to continue on with that plan.

(The gricks have no bags, belts, or anything to contain any treasure on their bodies)

Mobled spends a few moments recuperating from her binge drinking, probably heaving some alcohol up at the sight of grick innards. Look like worms inside more'n snakes. 'sat a gizzard? She then goes and one arm hugs Mukluk.

"Sorry fer threat'nin' t' tear yer beard off, Luck. I jus' hate t' lose my chance t' wrassle somethin' new. Anyways... Yer glimskys're mighty potent."

She eventually wanders over to examine the door.

Tiabrar sits down and positions a flap of skin on his leg back in place before wrapping it up. He tanks a long drink from a flask (liquor) and and then drinks down a vial (CLW). Some wounds close up, but many still seep and ooze. He reaches into his many pouches and pockets and mixes together another drink (CLW) and quaffs it. He then stands up with just a bruise left on his leg.

He examines the gricks and pokes at them with his sword. How do they resist the normal weapons?

He scoops some guts and skin up and puts them into empty vials.

Female voice: "You're not going to...nevermind."

Mukluk hikes up the rocky ledge and pokes around in the grick's cavern.

The dwarf is able to confirm your group is not the first group of humanoids that the creatures had attacked, as he finds several humanoid skeletons picked clean and aged with time.

Several leather pouches have rotted away spilling coins about their nests.

Catching his eye the most, Mukluk notices a finely crafted suit of scale mail still worn by one of the skeletons.

Total coins: 200cp, 180sp, 60gp.

Yes, the scale mail is magical.

Doruk quickly gets close to Martigan as requested and sees the last of his wounds close up.

"As always, thanks for your help my friend. I'm very grateful."

When he's finished cleaning his weapons, he helps Mukluk sift through and collect the treasures from above.

"Magical scale huh? I wonder how strong it is. Might be worth trading out for my current threads if it's powerful enough - that is if no one else would like it. Martigan, Petrel? Either of you interested?"

Tiabrar finally gets his chance to examine the iron door to the east.

Cut into the cavern wall here stands a small but very strong looking door of iron plate, about 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Heavy rivets stud its surface, and a tarnished silver rune - Durgeddin's smith-mark, gleams on the door's rusted face.

More on the Door:

The door consists of two pieces of sheet iron bolted to a strong frame, with a pintle fitted through the door's interior.

No hinges are exposed.

The door is locked.
