Jametor looks at the book to see who the author is. He then goes to find the librarian in hopes of locating the author, wondering if the author is still here.
After a moment he pauses, a puzzled look on his face. "Have you come seeking peace, here at the end of all things? I have not seen you in the city before... and this seems a strange time for a visit."
"Are there more works by him, perhaps not shelved in that section?"
Quoleron clears his throat softly and inclines his head toward the newcomer. "Greetings. Be welcome to this library of our people."
The drow does not respond as he continues to study the other visitors intently.
Jametor moves swiftly to the other elf, holding his hand outstretched.
"Welcome to the library, I am the new librarian here, sent to help Quoleron with all the activity here the past few days. Is there something I can help you with?"
The drow relaxes slightly as Jametor stops moving toward him, and once again scans the room slowly. "The activity." he replies in a flat tone.
"Well, it's a strange story," Asht'el responds. "We were fighting drow - dark-skinned, evil elves - in a city much like this one, far in the future, trying to prevent a similar end to the one you are now facing. We killed one of them, and the portal to this place stood before us, so we came through seeking answers."
He pats Njord on the shoulder and says, "My friend here is good at following tracks, and found some that led us here to your garden, so we thought we'd see if we could find any help this way. He tells me there are recent tracks that come here, but then head to that nearby corner and split up, heading different directions. Can you tell us who came this way?"
"Ah, yes. Quoleron mentioned that the activity in the library has increased due to the end times talk and I guess they are looking for answers or a solution. The library team felt he could use some help. I am happy to help, did you have a particular subject you were looking for?"
He seems a bit ill at ease, and Asht'el notices one or two other elves taking notice and whispering to each other.
"Two humans, here? How interesting, " Asht'el says. "Perhaps that was the tracks we saw. Can we meet them? Perhaps you could take us to them, we might learn something of value. We're sort of at our wit's end trying to figure this out."
Njord nods in understanding of the directions. "Could I take a couple clippings maybe? We don't have herbs like these where I come from."
Njord points at the first one and repeats the name, poorly. "That one. The see-anna reeoo."
Njord retrieves a square of cloth and gingerly wraps it around the cutting. "Thanks!" the big ulfen says with a grin.
"Let's get the others and check out these humans."
"You mean you're done with your plant collecting now?" Asht'el asks in a slightly exasperated tone. "So we can get back to saving the world? Let's go."
He heads back to the library.
Asht'el and Njord return to the library, and Asht'el says to the gang, "We've found something, don't know if it's important, but we thought we should check it out. In addition to the elves, there are a couple of humans here. We haven't met them, but we know where to find them, we came to get you so we could all pay them a visit."
He stops abruptly when he sees the drow, his eyes narrowing, and he asks more quietly, "What's going on?"
Asht'el continues to move very steadily and carefully towards the library.
The drow glares at Jametor and waits for an answer.
Jametor smirks.
"You don't deserve the truth. I am lying to you so I can keep you distracted while my friends do their job."
The drow grunts in surprise as a bolt lodges firmly into his chest. Glancing around and realizing he's outnumbered, he turns and retreats. As he leaves he glares at Jametor in particular. "You'll regret this, fool."
To Randall he says, "Thanks Randall, sometimes it appears I bite off more than I can chew."
Randall scrambles down the bookshelf (away from the librarian, dreading 'the look') and heads toward the door to see where the drow went.
Randall gets to the front door just in time to see the drow turning a corner and disappearing down a side-street.
He follows as far as the corner, as quietly as he can.
Fíriel drops the book she's holding and follows Randall out the door, staying back a few feet so as not to make too much noise and alert their quarry.
Randall sees the drow heading down the street a way, but he's moving quickly and Randall isn't able to keep up while trying to remain stealthy.
Just as Randall and Fíriel arrive back to the library, they see Asht'el and Njord approaching from the other direction.

Njord arrives absentmindedly, quietly admiring his exotic clipping.
"You guys find anything interestin'?" he asks - at least mildly distracted.
Waving to the others, Randall offers, "We've been found by the drow. A single warrior just retreated. I shot him when he started to threaten Jametor. I imagine he will be back with friends."
Jametor nods in agreement with Randall.
"Time is short I suspect, let me finish talking with the librarian"
Returning to the librarian, Jametor says, "Sir you were talking about Master Corathir and his works when the other came in, did you have more to say?"
