Not planning a night in Izmir but driving through. 3 nights in Istanbul - two full days. Anything you remember and highly recommend in either city? If its a top 5 thing I am likely planning it already.
Melianthe Ssulissien |
Izmir was just full of hot women, and had a beach. Didn't make it to Ephesus, which I hear is great. Darn that Paul, or Saul, or whomever was down there.
Istanbul - I went to the Sultanahmet Camii, the Hagia Sofia, the Topkapi Palace, and the Cistern--the Cistern was amazing. Mosques are cool, and smell slightly of feet. Ice cream was cheap and food was good. The i in Topkapi is a funky letter pronounced "uh", if I recall correctly. Oh, and we took the bridge to Asia, which was amazing, and drank yogurt drinks on the Bosporus. Amazing views.
I recall seeing some various Islamic treasures and the hand of some saint and whatnot, and kind of shivering thinking of hundreds of Christians being dragged out by Ottoman Turks from the Hagia Sofia to be slaughtered in the square. Great town. Have some apple tea. Play They Might Be Giants.

If of interest to any of you, since you're all reliable players, I've lost a player (healer) in my Shattered Star campaign and I'm openly recruiting a replacement.

Congrats! You have gained enough experience to reach Level 2!! Go ahead an let me know your level up changes, or if you have any questions.
House Rule: Hit points are rolled using the following method...
d6 = 1d4+2
d8 = 1d5+3
d10 = 1d6+4
d12 = 1d7+5
As far as the game is concerned, I don't have anything planned for you for the next few days/week. Expect you will use the down time to train, shope etc, but if you have any other plans or ideas you want to explore, post them here or in the gameplay tab, as appropriate.
Just request you tag your sidebar threads, in case we have a few flex-time discussions going on at once.

Given that I didn't spend any of the money we got while fighting - and killing - Lamm, how much would my share be? I'd like to get that mithril chain shirt. ^^
Demitri Severin |
I'll tally all the loot and put up a doc for it tommorow. I need to sleep and I'm working the early shift. But you should be able to afford your mithral shirt assuming it's available. But if you need me to, I can spot you a few gold if you end up a little short.

Also, Pathfinder eliminated location-specific Knowledge skills. It also somewhat expanded the definition of Knowledge from "What you know" to "What you know or can find out easily" to account for it - it's not just knowledge of local events but generally who to talk to (and how to phrase things) to get the local pulse quickly and quietly.
Segang |
and yay! We leveled! I'm taking a level in Barbarian. Kidding.
Don't do it. I'll go witch if you do. :)
That was 1000 gold total for the reward, correct?

Questions on loot:
1) Was the spear a reach weapon, i.e Longspear or a plan old spear?
2) Was there a strength element to the composite Long Bow? Segang had pulled it to check it.
3) For loot purposes, what weapons and armor did we find on the men at the butcher shop?
Absinthe Mooneyes |
I don't mind lugging some of your things.
On umpteenth thought, I'm going to put the rank I put into Bluff into Use Magic Device. My score may not be exceptional, but it's a very useful skill.
Demitri Severin |
Alright, this is a tab of what loot we got from the butcher shop. The totals are assuming we sell everything for half. I don't know how much of the mundane weapons/armor we have so I didn't put that in there. If someone wants to claim something, let me know and I can adjust totals accordingly. The magic dagger and the bow might be worth keeping.
Segang |
Thanks for preparing the list Demitri.
Segang would like to keep the bow and does not mind taking it as part of his share. Not sure we should sell the magic items (arrows or dagger). When the DM gives you a magic weapon and you sell it you can't really complain when there is monster with DR/magic that you can't hurt.
While I am in favor of an equitable distribution of loot, long term, I am not in favor of selling items for half that would enhance the party. We did not sell the wand of Magic Missiles, we, sensibly, issued it to our arcane caster. If it were my call I would just let people claim items that they need and not worry about who gets more loot, trusting it to balance in the long term. But I am fine if we want to track the value of who gets what to help us recall who is ahead and who is behind.
Demitri Severin |
Understandable. I'm okay with giving stuff to people that need it. I just worry about someone getting a vast majority of the loot and it ends up hurting us. I've seen it happen too many times. But as long as we're somewhat close to even, I'm okay with whatever, I don't sweat copper pieces generally.

We need to keep the magic silver dagger, I would think
Absinthe Mooneyes |
I agree on keeping the magic weapons.
My intended purchase - a mithral chain vest - would cost 1100 gp.
I see in the loot document that I currently have 775 gp. I assume that's from the most recent reward, for bringing in Vancaskerkin.
I still had my share from the last reward, 421 gp, putting me at a total of 1186 gp.
Deducting the 1100 for a mithral chain shirt (Yay! +4 AC! ^^) and I still have 86 gp.
Selling my old leather armour brings my total up to 91 gp.
Minus 50 for a new potion of CLW... 41 gp.
Spend another 5 on a sap, for those occasions when you want to catch someone alive, and I have 36 left.
Throw in some darts, and I have a grand total of 32 gp, 5 sp left.
... I may make a small donation to the orphanage. What would be a reasonable sum?
Segang |
Hold a sec Absinthe before spending all that coin. I believe that total only manifests IF we sell everything and we are saying it might be a bad idea to sell the magic items. If we do not sell the magic items we will have less. Here are my totals using Demitri's spreadsheet
Actual total if we sell everything for half is 4750.00
Divided by 6 brings the total each to 791.67
If we do not sell the dagger it would be 599.83
If we do not sell the dagger or arrows it would be 530.83
Segang will be happy to take the bow and magic arrows as part of his share. That comes to a sale price of 714.00. His next desired purchase was a strength bow anyway. But we still have the issue of the dagger. I am ok if you guys want to sell it but we need to decide.
Also, I am still hoping to get recommendations from everyone on what Rage power to take.

I don't believe we should sell either. Magic + silver weapon just seems to conveniently handy to have as a DR breaker.
Demitri Severin |
Agreed that we shouldn't sell the magic dagger or the bow. I just put it on the sheet to show where we're at. Well how do we want to do this? Give Segang the bow and the arrows and call it his share? Who gets the dagger?
@Mel - Congrats
@Segang - What are you looking for? More damage, utility. I don't know enough about Segang to make a suggestion.
@Abby - I would be more than happy to help you out with getting new armor.
