A little at a loss. I offered to fight for the emperor to see Scream. He flatly said no way. Then he suddenly changes his mind, offering the exact thing I asked for If we will fight. That was my opening offer.
Jarha Madu |
He did seem to shift his response a bit, but the big difference is he is now telling us we ALL have to fight (except "Blackjack"). His bluster does leave us guessing a bit!
Melianthe Ssulissien |
I think this is no real fault of the GM nor the Emperor, motivation wise; it's probably just the railroading of the module that we gotta fight in the arena. I mean, we could try just killing him where he stands...but that will probably not work.

Why wouldn't he be bribable?
Blackjack Honoraria |
Well, we can try. But why wouldn't he just take the money and then demand we play Blood Pig?
Because he fears me. :D

Because he fears who he thinks you are.
Be careful you don't get too big for your britches and someone realizes that you are an impostor ... that could go doubly bad for all of us.

I know, I know. ^_^;
This is just ... a really cool disguise. Like I said, it's like being Batman, without being insane.

Batman being insane is what makes him so great. :)

You need to read PS238. :D The Batman expy in that comic is cooler than Batman, and not so loony.

This is gonna take a very long time to play out in real time. We need people to post quickly when its their turn.
The other team has 8 to our 7. They are faster than us based on init modifiers. None of us have improved unarmed strike so if we attack it will provoke. With the pig starting 10' from their pit it seems the odds are stacked very much against us here even if none of them have improved unarmed strike. I am betting that at least some of them do.
Think about how to block their way by forming lines and such. Unsure if there will be any break to get back in the box after one team scores. So better assume a pig will show up in our box the round after they score. That means we need a pig grabber and maybe a blocker hanging back.
Does Seren have a plan? Unfortunately I think its going to be important to wait until its your turn Seren before acting. You might need to know where others are to strategically move and your movement could be blocked or you might provoke.

Seren, have a plan?
He is a reluctantly reformed anarchist and some time conspiracy theorist. He can't spell plan. He will follow directions, though! Just holler!
Jarha Madu |
I agree about the need for quick posting, and the impracticality of posting out of order given the set up. I will try to check here frequently during this encounter. It is hard to make a plan without understanding the game better, but I think we will understand a lot better at the end of this round. I agree we have some structural disadvantages.
Segang |
And part of those disadvantages is not understanding the rules better. lol. Unsure if the placement of the pig at is random every time or does it alternate. Either way we have to figure out how to prevent the other team from scoring when the pig pops in 10' from their pit.
With no weapons I am not sure if we would have a chance at taking some of the enemy out. Punches do like a d3+str damage and will provoke. So even if we were hitting and focusing attacks we could at best take out 2 or 3 while they focused on winning.
Any ideas? We need a monk.
Melianthe Ssulissien |
Melianthe will Fortune Hex when she can, but for a round only. No one will know! And she's going to hold a scorpion in her hand. Likewise, Jarha, if there's any way you can cheat...no one said there's no cheating...
Jarha Madu |
It would really only be telekinesis that Jarha could do without creating any visible manifestation -- that is, if what he did was subtle enough. Not sure what that would be. It is true there is no verbal or somatic component I know of, as long as it isn't something that makes him take burn.

Given its a holiday weekend, I'll hold off botting anyone until Monday. That being said, I'm afraid this Blood Pig sequence is going to take forever in the PbP format. It would be fine in a tabletop game. I don't want it to suck the life out of the game for a month (or more). I'm pondering breaking it down into narrative rounds based on some skill/combat checks. How does that sound?

Probably best, as much fun as this would be, it will take forever to score 5 points.
Segang |
I have friends who talk about this event and how fun it was at a table. but I too fear its going to take months. I am good any way you want to go with it DM NomadSage.
Segang |
Any strategy coming to anyone? They have the advantage in that it seems most, if not all have improved unarmed strike ability while I think our side only has that with Ab. With her rogue levels she could likely take a couple out IF she could flank but without weapons I am not sure we can threaten to help with that.
I'll have to brush up on the grapple rules. I suspect Segang's grappler is gonna regret grabbing hold of him. But since they outnumber us I cannot really afford to just occupy one of them, can I?

DM NomadSage |
Alright, here's the basic rules for Blood Pig as a skill challenge.
Each round, you will all select and roll a skill check or make an (unarmed) attack roll. Use of any skill is allowed, as long as you can narratively explain how it is used in the game. Bonus points for cool & creative!
Example: I shuttle the pig around using deft hand movements... Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
I will do the same for the Shinglesnipes, tally up the successes for each team, and whoever has the most gets a point. We'll run through rounds until the first team reaches 5 points for the win!
Don't worry about initiative, hit points, spells (unless you want to try and use one), and other combat abstractions.
Questions? If no, go ahead and post your Round 2 actions!
