Segang has one trick left, and it just so happens to involve him stepping 5'. Note that decent hit points is relative. He is below half and has a single round of rage left.
M Human (Shoanti) Barbarian (Urban) HP 132/159,(Rage HP=189) l DR 5/10 Nonlethal and Resist Fire 3: INIT +2, Perc. +13, AC 22/T:14/FF:18, Saves= Fort+13/16, Ref +7, Will +7/+12 with rage
And then more gold for restoration to get rid of negative levels. At least 1K and maybe more than double that.
This is not a melee heavy party. Note that two people are multi classed to classes without full BAB, meaning that they received no BAB twice at first level. DR 10 is likely just too much of a challenge when we are outnumbered, have terrain way against us, and only have one weapon that can bypass the DR.

...
Crud. Segang, I really wish you'd just focused on him, especially when he was dazed. :(
Can I move at full speed while carrying Mel?
If the answer is yes, I'll hoof it down the eastern tunnel. Segang, you grab Chelias and beat feet. We'll all split up and hopefully meet up again at the barracks.
If the answer is no... Ugh.

Absinthe, Segang was flanked, and so was Seren. I still believe I have made the most intelligent and tactical play. But the point of the game is that each of us gets to make that call for our own characters. I do not understand what you hope to accomplish by reminding me that I chose an action contra to your recommendation.
Its always a choice to take out the lower level guys that can still hit hard over the boss who hits harder but requires more hits to take down. If said boss is slinging spells its an easier decision for me, but in general I am in favor of taking out the underlings first. Mitigating circumstance is that this boss has a silver weapon. But since Seren no longer at hand it may not be as important.
I am not sure Segang would pick up the silver rapier if he could. He would loose weapon focus and it would do a d8 as a one handed weapon (Less power attack and less strength damage) Segang will likely do more damage with his earthbreaker even accounting for the DR.

Hmm. It's not so much meant as recrimination, rather than wishful thinking. ^^; If the big ratboy had been down a few solid whacks, I might have been able to sneak attack him out of our misery with one solid hit.
Action economy is a big deal. Segang dropped 2 attacks essentially. That's a reduction of 5 possible hits to 3 between his 3 options those 2 rounds. Leader has a higher AC it seems as well, so he may not have even hit.

I hate having to make this kind of choice. I like to be heroic. Having to abandon someone just doesn't sit right, but I can't see any other way that gets even a few of us out alive. :(
...
I'm so very sorry, Melianthe.

If I'd left more gear behind, it might have worked. But 12 Str. doesn't cut the mustard, and I need that double-move for even a chance. :(
In the worst case, would you like me to start robbing folks to set up a rez Mel-fund?

Or... you could invest in Summon Monser spells? ^^;
I know they're not universally popular, but Summon Monster II can already change the battlefield significantly. A fire elemental in the right place or a pair of summoned celestial animals with smite evil... All that good stuff.
Which is not to say that Vomit Swarm wasn't awesome. ^^

I'm hoping to scam ratboy into believe the Spider King -- and beyond the Spider King, the Queen -- is out to get him, segueing into "Your home is going to be invaded in waves, you'd better get out of town while the getting is good."
Bluff 20 seems like a solid opening for that... ^^;

I had actually planned to tell the guy the truth, with the idea that he might have been set up. But at this point I think all I can do is follow your lead Ab.
Segang does not have a single healing potion to use to try to save someone. And his Heal skill is +0. sigh.

If we tell him the truth, he'd go after that old wererat lady, who seemed to be on the up-and-up with us at the time and claimed to know about the cause of the plague. ^^; I figured we might want to save her from being butchered for Grand Treason, or whatever the other wererats would call her siccing assassins on a hotshot up-and-coming sewer ruler.
'Sides, I added enough truth to the lie that if he was set up, we'll hopefully find out.

Right. Hopeful there. I would not have mentioned the old lady.

Well, I am headed off tomorrow for DragonCon and will not be back until Monday night. I'll have a laptop and should be abel to post most days but likely not more than once a day. Please bot me if you need to. Everyone have a good Labor Day weekend.
Segang will go along with Ab's story but in no case will he surrender his weapons. He will fight before that.

Its con season. :)
I am an eternal member at Dragon Con and take the my kids. So its a family trip. I sort of stumbled into Gen Con this year. But Yea, I am a con fiend I guess. :)

Thanks for asking! =) I've got a small apartment now, and its comfortable, but I still have a ton of things piled up on all the floors, corners and counters. Have a lot of organizing yet to do...

Yeah, moving house always shows you just how much you had neatly stored at your old place, doesn't it just?
