Aldo stays quiet, directly in front of Maraas. He breaths in the fresh air and his mind is perhaps elsewhere, Still overwhelmed by so many open spaces, he seems particularly interested in the 10 foot round trees and looks longingly at the birds he sees. His eyes also wonder occasionally to Kalyn, but he does his best not to reveal this fact."You've too much faith in Steel friends, I wont be surprised if us Elves out task the two of you." He chuckles .

The ground is getting more rocky, and there is a small cliff race running east of you (about 9' high). You round a bend and Dargail motions for you to halt, it seems there is a cleverly disguised and barricaded enterence to a cave. Once about 80' away, Dargail is suddenly shot at by three arrows...

There are three tall darkspawn, hurlocks, firing at you from the mouth of the cave. They have a crude but effective wooden barricade in front of them...]You can't charge or attack them in melee unless you destory the cover. Ranged attacks are normal as it is only waist high.

Maraas, enraged at the cruel darkspawn, charges the barricade and renders it to splinters with his massive sword.

Sunder 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 for 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 = 9

If this is not a valid action, Marass will grab Dargail and move everyone back out of the archers' range.

Aloris jerks his head up towards the hurlocks, swinging his bow from his back in a single motion and loosing an arrow toward the cave.

Cure light wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Aloris steps over to the fallen dwarf, pressing his hand into the pooling blood and whispering, "Suledin, durgen'len." Yellow-green light pours from beneath his palm, scenting the air with sweet nectar.

Edit: Crap! I didn't see that Dargail had fallen! If it's okay I'd like to change my action to how Aloris would have actually reacted. If not, my original action text is above in the spoiler.

Kalyn won initiative over the hurlock, but throwing knives have too limited range, and she hasn't readied one yet so she'll go behind the nearest tree and try to approach under cover, looking for traps along the trees of course(+1 perception for trapfinding)

When three arrows strike Dargail Kalyn shouts out of fear "Dargail"
Than she runs for the nearest group of trees swearing "Bastards"

As Aloris begins to heal Dargail and he regains consciousness, he quickly pulls out the arrows before Aloris finishes. "Blighted darkspawn. Cowards! Why don't ye little runts come an face me face ta axe like good little minions of evil!?" Dargail looks around and then at Aloris. "Aye, guess I owe ya one Dale boy. I take back half the things I said about ye earlier. Now, let's get to this fight." Dargail evaluates the distance. Seeing Maraas charge ahead and destroying the barricade Dargail smiles. "Well now there's only one way ta do dis now. CHARGE!!!" Dargail goes charging up to the darkspawn. Not sure if the distance is to great for a charge but that is what he will do/

Dargail attacks one darkspawn if able. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 For:1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9


Aldo's actions for round 1 are still missing


-Almost as soon as the arrows strike the dwarf, the Qunari lets out a yell and charges the wooden blockade. His massive strength shatters it to splinters. That said it wasn't that well built.
-The dalish elf reaches down and heals Dargail, returning him to the fight, at the same time Kalyn ducks behind a tree and starts making her way through the cover the forest provides.
On round 2 Dargail can indeed charge but we are waiting for Aldo to post and after Aldo I will mention the darkspawn response. Dargail both you actions and rolls will remiand valid unless Aldo lets lose a serious tactial change such as altering reality...
You can figure the maps are drawn to one character per 5' square unless I say otherwise.

I'm going to be away from a keyboard until Sunday evening, just so eveyone knows. In the interest of moving the story. I will post Marass' intended action.

Seeing that Dargail is back up and charging, Maraas redoubles his efforts against the darkspawn. He attacks the nearest one.

-Maraas and Dargail charge into the Hurlock archers. Maraas swings widely, but Dargail connects with one. He shatters its knee with a blow from his ax. It still stands, but an arrow through the neck, fired by the Dalish elf, brings it down. The scout sees no signs of traps, and she rolls into a position to flank the archers...Meanwhile the two reamining Hurlocks drop their weapons and draw blades, which they swing at the Qunari.

Both attacks miss...they seem far better with their bow than blade.
Begin Round three. 2 hurlocks stand at the enterence of the cave. You can't charge. Kalyn is in position to sneak attack...You all have flanking bonus. Except the Dalish elf. He's shooting into melee.


I'll assume Kalyn drew her rapier, not sure if she is in melee range, but the rapier is better than the throwing knife, and if she is in position to SA, she is in reach of a move action as well.

He slides the bow into his left hand, curling his right into a stiff arcane gesture as tiny jolts of electricity arch between his fingertips. He thrusts his hand forward with a thunderous pop and hurls the tiny static charge at his enemy.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 nonlethal damage, and target takes -2 to attack rolls for 1 turn.

It almost, almosts finds a way through Maraas' armor but scrapes along the tough hides he wears
With only a badly wounded hurlock remaining I'm going to skip ahead
The last Hurlock is cut down, and you survey the scene. Three hurlock archers lie at your feet. The mouth of the cave is narrow, and the passage way is only 5 and half feet tall, and 3 feet wide. It will be quite difficult for the Qunarri to follow, but possible. The question is not if there will be traps but rather how many...
Knowledge dungeonering or knowledge nature to get a feel for any geological details about the cave

I am a disgrace to dwarves for not having any knowledge dungeonneering. Paladin only comes with so many skill points.

"Hah, Managed to get another kill but sodding ancestors those arrows hurt. I'm not tainted am I?" Dargail looks himself over. "Meh, I think the beast are hiding in the cave. I took a nasty hit so I'd like someone beside me for support and to locate traps. We move slow and steady okay. Let's go." Dargail will wait for someone to join him and head into the cave at a slow causious pace. He has darkvision so he will keep his eyes peeled as long as nobody strikes up a light. Shouldn't need to considering were all non humans lol

Kalyn quickly controls her body and clothes, and once she is sure not to have damage she looks down the cave.
"All that remains is to enter. Unfortunately the only rocky areas I know well are some corridors of some buildings in Denerim, I do not think that can help here".
She sighs
"I do not feel like exploring alone this time , but if you want I can walk just ahead of you and try to find traps if any"

"Kayln, your skill with traps is unmatched by anyone here. I say you go first with Dargail close behind, then our elven friends, and I will protect our rear."


Aloris pulls back, planting his hands on his hips and examining the mouth of the cavern. "It's a tight squeeze, to be sure." He looks to the Qunari, and then to the rest of the group.

Is Dargail injured right now? I can pop a heal spell if I need to.

Dunno if GM wants a Stealth roll too, since Kalyn is not alone this time but you never know

Aloris...the lack of any breeze at the mouth of the cave means this cave is a dead end...in other words there is no other way in or out, so if anything is hiding in here, it knows there is no way out
-As you crawl into the tunnel, it grows narrower, at times everyone but the dwarf need to crawl on hands and knees. The templar points out a long trip wire connected to a flask of acid. Kalyn moves up to disable the trap
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 She does so and receives an Acid flask. As you continue the path widens into a large circular room about 25' in diameter. It is pitch black. Dargail holds up a hand to hush the party...he hears some darkspawn grunting.

Dargail:

You see 3 hurlocks, and one of them is much bigger than the other 2, almost 7 feet tall in fact. In the middle of the room is a strange, twisted looking altar. The darkspawn are not aware of your presence, but the tunnel is very difficult terrain, and only you will be able to charge, the rest of the party has to squeeze themselves into the room one by one. I also need another perception check from you.

Dargail turns to the group and whispers as best he can. "Two big ones and one slightly bigger, must be da boss of these blighters." Dargail focuses and looks around to try and get a bigger picture before deciding what to do.

DM:

Dargail is also trying to perceive if it will be possibly for Kayln to sneak around behind them before he charges them. He's hoping she can sneak attack one of them and he charge another. Then Aloris can support with some spells. Not sure what use Maraas will be though. Big lug should follow as best he can I guess and try and act as support.

Dargail you're pretty much the cork in the bottle...there is no way anybody is getting around anybody. At least not without a lot of grunting, shoving, and crawling between legs. In addition, you notice a genlock lurking in the shadows...making 4 not 3 darkspawn in the room....

-The Templar catches the giant Hurlock flatfooted, and brings his axe across its midsection....drawing blood. It just has time to step backwards...a split second later and it would have been gutted like a pig.

Aloris squeezes past Kalyn, whips his head toward the Genlock and throws a bolt of static at it.

When Aloris presse against her, Kalyn says “Hey, where are you touching?” while moving as well to enter the main cave, then she attacks the genlock.

Dargail roars at the Hurlock leader and swings again....none too gently either.

-Dargail cuts down the startled Hurlock leader, taking it down at the knees, before it ever has a chance to move Damn you had some nice rolls!
-Aloris startles the Genlock with some static bolts, which reduces its ability to aim...
-The two remaining hurlocks draw large, two handed blades and attack dargail, screaming in incoherent rage!

One misses, but the other strikes a massive blow,

I think that's it. Dargail got his surpirse round and attack round, and the rest of you missed pretty much. Two hurlocks are attacking Dargail, who has been hit pretty hard

Yes, I would have healed you. I posted asking if you were injured, but I don't recall an answer.

You would have healed 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 damage.


Your lack of response had me thinking that you were either healed or at good HP. Let's procede with the you as healed plan.


In theory we have another healer, it has been sometime that i' asking what to do with the mage
