Rules for Wilderness Travel:

In a given day the group can travel 12 miles.

12 hours each day you will need some protection from the heat.

Armor has 24 hours per level of protection you can divvy up per hour.

Every day:
DC 18 Survival to avoid getting lost
or
DC 12 Survival to follow tracks.

Avoiding getting lost is harder, but you can move further. Following tracks you can move 3/4 the days speed, but is easier. Only 1 person can be on point for this, with assists being allowed. If you fail either of these checks you only make 1/2 process.

Because you have Dr. Solstarni’s notes and the files from Ailabiens 21:2 you have a +2 on these Survival checks.

Weather:
You can use suit’s protection, air bubble, or can make a Fortitude save each hour (DC 15 + 1 per previous check) or take 1d4 nonlethal fire damage. Heavy armor gives a -4 penalty on this. You can roll a Survival at the beginning of the day to provide a bonus to this.

If you take heat damage you suffer heatstroke, (Fatigued condition). These penalties go away when you are healed of the damage.

Sunrise Maiden stats:

Speed 10
Maneuverability good (turn 1)
AC: 13, TL: 13
HP: 55, DT: - CT: 11
Shields: Light 60 (forward 15, Port 15, Starboard 15, Aft 15)
Attack (forward) Gyrolaser (1d8) (Range Short 5 hexes, Board Arc Can fire into adjacent arcs with a -2 penalty)
Attack (Port) Light laser Cannon (2d4) (Range Short 5 hexes)
Attack Starboard) Light laser Cannon (2d4) (Range Short 5 hexes)
Attack (Aft) Flack Thrower (3d4) (Range Short 5 hexes, Point (+8)
Attack (Turret) Light Partical Bean (3d6) (Range Medium 10 hexes)

Modifiers +1 to any 2 checks per round, +2 Computers, +1 Piloting

Power Core: Pulse Green (150 PCU); Drift Engine: Signal Basic; Systems: Basic mid-range sensors, crew quarters (good), extra light weapon mount (aft) mk 3 armor, mk3 defenses, mk 1 duonode computer (tier 1, artificial personality upgrade); Expansion Bays: cargo hold(2), escape pods, recreation suite (HAC/Gym)

Complement 1-6

Crew Stations:
Captain: Zam
Engineer: Yon
Gunner 1: Tylur
Gunner 2: Clara (temporary)
Pilot: Sybil
Science Officer: DeeV8

-2 penalty for each range increment after the first. All weapons can be fired up to 10 range increments away.

Weapon Point attribute: A weapon with this special property is always short range and can’t be fired against targets that are outside the first range increment. If a tracking weapon would hit a ship in an arc that contains a weapon with the point special property, the gunner of the targeted starships can attempt an immediate gunnery check with the point weapon against the incoming tracking projectile using the bonus listed in parentheses in the weapon’s Special entry (instead of her usual bonus to gunnery checks). The DC for this gunnery check is equal to 10 + the tracking weapon’s speed. If the attack hits, the tracking weapon is destroyed before it can damage the ship. A point weapon can be used to attempt only one such free gunnery check each round, but this usage potentially allows a point weapon to be fired twice in a single round.

Hmm... Seems I have two mechanic competition, but out of the two, I'm the only Ace pilot and the only Exocortex user...

The scales tip in my favor...

Well not really, it's kinda equal for us all.... <_<

I should change my armor to something lighter... Although if I do I basically have the same armor, with lower EAC... Hmm... And it's not as bulky... Hmmm..

Dotting! I've got a fun concept for a kasatha mystic.

I think I’m gonna hold off. I’m in a few games and have other characters submitted to other recruitments, don’t want to overload myself. Plus there’s a lot of submissions here similar to what I’d be putting together. Another time, perhaps.

dotting. Will have a character up tonight.

Understood! Good luck with the other games :)

Desert Stride (Ex) Kasathas can move through nonmagical difficult terrain in deserts, hills, and mountains at their normal speed.

Theme Knowledge Reduce the DC of Physical Science checks to recall knowledge about strange new worlds or features of space by 5. Physical Science is a class skill for you. In addition, you gain an ability adjustment of +1 to Constitution at character creation.

Operative's Edge (Ex) Your training grants a +1 insight bonus to initiative checks and skill checks. This bonus increases by 1 at 3rd level and every 4 levels thereafter.

Specialization Jaffin uses the Explorer specialization, granting him Culture and Survival as associated skills. This grants him Skill Focus in these skills as bonus feats at 1st level, as well as a free skill rank in each of these skills at each level.

Trick Attack (Ex) You can trick or startle a foe and then attack as she drops her guard. As a full action, you can move up to your speed. Whether or not you moved, you can then make an attack with a melee weapon with the operative special property or with any small arm. Just before making the attack, attempt a Bluff, Intimidate, or Stealth check with a DC equal to 20 + your target's CR. If you succeed at the check, you deal 1d4 additional damage and the target becomes flat-footed.
As an explorer, Jaffin can make a Survival check with a +4 bonus to make a trick attack by taking advantage of his surroundings.

Fluff:

----
BACKGROUND
----
Kasathas honor the greatest and most skilled of their race with appointment to the Doyenate, their council of rulers. Just after the Idari entered Pact World space, a kasatha named Dian became Doyen of exploration, traveling the Pact Worlds and compiling a vast archive of knowledge for future generations to pore over. But Dian's descendants, the House Geffa, subsequently remained more firmly tied to the Idari, working as biologists in the vat-farms of Mesacand Sector, making sure that food was grown to feed the great ship's population.

This didn't sit well with Jaffin, 3rd son of Clan Dossant of House Geffa, who roamed and wandered from the time he could first walk. His parents found themselves hard-pressed to keep him out of trouble, but Jaffin was merely curious and impulsive, blessed (or cursed) with an insatiable urge to learn. He took to schooling with ease, especially enjoying his lessons on the other Pact Worlds which usually acknowledged his ancestor's deeds. During his Tempering, Jaffin dispatched himself to a student exchange program on Castrovel, Dian's favorite of the Pact Worlds. He decided after his time there that the small world of the Idari simply wasn't enough, and that he wanted to explore beyond even his ancestor's travels.

His parents, knowing that his two older brothers had the family's affairs well in order, allowed him to go and even sponsored his entry into the Starfinder Society. Having been accepted on merit of his academic track record and demonstrated skill, he set off to Absalom Station to undergo his final initiation into the august organization.

----
PERSONALITY
----
Jaffin is usually quiet and aloof, preferring to observe his surroundings than make idle conversation. Should someone start talking about his interests, especially with regards to exploration, he opens up noticeably. He believes in being prepared for any situation, and trains regularly to keep his skills sharp. Though not bloodthirsty, Jaffin has no problem defending himself if the need arises; unlike most of his race, he prefers using firearms like his trusty laser pistol in combat. He possesses a subtle sense of humor, and can be blunt, but he is never cruel with other's feelings.

I think everything should be in order, so feel free to have a look.

@DMNex: I'm going to step away from this one also, my own Dead Suns AP is starting to ramp up and I want to give it due attention :)

Thanks for the consideration and I'll be lurking to see how the game goes.

Hopefully get the opportunity to game with you down the line.

Cheers

Totally understandable. Have fun with your Dead Suns AP, Starfinder is pretty fun. Enjoy the differences from Pathfinder.

Dot! Experienced with pathfinder, but I literally just purchased the starfinder rulebook so look forward to coming up with a character.

Hi GM! I’m submitting Zamasea De, a Lashunta (Damaya) Envoy with the Xenoseeker theme (I noticed this class is lacking in the lineup). This is my very first Starfinder character, so go easy on me! I’ve included very basic purchases, with the idea that I’ll re-evaluate gear choices if chosen. Thank you for your consideration!

Background:

Castrovel, The Wild, for all its beauty, is a study in conflict. Its intense storms and tides battle for supremacy, while myriad predators contend for ascension to the title of apex. The sentient races, too, have a combative history, the coming of the Pact ending hostilities between the lashunta and the formians a mere thirty years ago. Still, even today the elves of Castrovel maintain their xenophobic traditions, stubbornly refusing to issue travel visas to their neighboring races. The Wild’s dichotomized elements oppose each other at every turn, making it a true wonder that the lashunta capital of Qabarat has become such a major player on the System’s stage.

For many lashunta, like Zamasea, an upbringing in these conditions fosters an intense but natural curiosity in the science and art of politics, deal brokering, and negotiation on both macroscopic and microscopic levels. Zamasea has studied and practiced these methods over the course of her young life, recently graduating with degrees in the applied sciences of compromise, concession, and reconciliation. Yet her studies have also led her to become disillusioned in the very ideals she has been taught, because for all their sophistication and enlightenment, the races of her home world have been unable to strike a true accord.

It is this ever-growing feeling of cynicism that initially drew Zamasea away, on to Absalom Station, where she at first entertained notions of joining the Stewards. Yet such a career strikes her as too two-dimensional, and she firmly believes her talents would best be put to use on other worlds, worlds that are not so entrenched in generational conflicts like those choking her home planet of Castrovel. And so she turns to the Starfinders, to seek out conflicts in which she can actually play a meaningful role, to help change the tide of destiny, and to discover her own.

Home World: Castrovel
Personality traits: intellectual, adaptable, charismatic, calm
Physical description: 5’9”, slender, short forehead antennae, colorful swirls and raised markings on face that Zamasea likens to Desna’s butterfly.
Deity: Desna
Reason to Join Society: Driven by a sense of wanderlust, Zamasea seeks to use her exceptional talents to make a difference on a planet less idealogically entrenched than her home world.

Special Abilities

Expertise: At 1st level, when attempting a Sense Motive check, you can roll your expertise die and add the result of the roll to your check as an insight bonus. You must have at least 1 Resolve Point remaining. At 5th level, anytime you roll your expertise die, you gain a +1 bonus to the result. At 9th, 17th, and 20th levels, this bonus increases by 1. At 13th level, you roll 1d8 as your expertise die instead of 1d6. Beginning at 9th level, you have even greater expertise with skills to which you can add your expertise die that you have also selected with the Skill Focus feat. For each such skill, once per day when rolling your expertise die to add to that skill, you may roll the expertise die twice and take the better of the two results.
Get ‘Em (Ex): As a move action, you can choose one enemy within 60 feet. Until the start of your next turn, you and your allies gain a +1 morale bonus to attack rolls made against that enemy. The bonus persists even if the enemy moves beyond 60 feet or out of line of sight or hearing.
Limited Telepathy: Lashuntas can mentally communicate with any creatures within 30 feet with whom they share a language.
Skill Expertise (Ex): At 1st level and every 4 levels thereafter, you can use expertise with one additional class skill. You must have at least 1 rank in a skill to select it, and it must come from the following list: Bluff, Computers, Culture, Diplomacy, Disguise, Engineering, Intimidate, and Medicine.
Student: Lashuntas love to learn, and they receive a +2 racial bonus to any two skills of their choice.
Theme Knowledge (Xenoseeker): You are trained to seek out, identify, and interact with alien life-forms. Reduce the DC to identify a rare creature using Life Science by 5. Life Science is a class skill for you, though if it is a class skill from the class you take at 1st level, you instead gain a +1 bonus to Life Science checks. In addition, you gain an ability adjustment of +1 to Charisma at character creation.
Xenoseeker: The thought of meeting alien life-forms excites you. The more different their appearances and customs are from yours, the better! You either believe they have much to teach you or you want to prove you are better than them. Of course, the only way to accomplish your goal is to leave the Pact Worlds and travel to the Vast, where a virtually endless number of aliens wait.

Dark Archive

I'll have you know I'm a drow Mechanic! And proud of it too! Well... The mechanic part, not the drow. Iridar could care less about his race.

But anyways, I've changed my armor, I'm no longer wearing Golemforged plate, but second skin armor. That way I have a bit more EAC as well as less bull to have to deal with.

In addition, second skin has an upgrade slot so... Frankly it's better armor for the same price.

Welcome to the catch-22 of the low level armours.

Golemforged might make sense for a heavy soldier/mech person, but if you're shooting you have Dex and the second skin + your dex is better than golemforged and it's max dex. I would need to do some math if I wanted to find the optimal 'switch from Light to Heavy' point on the scaling grid but I prefer to let that happen naturally in game.

I really can't wait for the armory guide...

"What you longshanks be talking about? you just find armors with other longshanks in it, then shake out their bodies, and you can wear it!"

Dark Archive

That only works if you can shake the armor... And unless you are able to pick up half a tonne of steel and titanium then getting a body out of a suit of power armor is much harder than you think...

Finally got around to throwing together the background. Now if only I could find an avatar picture...

I've audited Zamasea De's sheet a bit and created a profile page located here. Please look there for her finalized stats.

On the subject of lifting weight:

"Everyone knows Goblins strongest there is. We lifts, no problem."

Congrats to all of the people who made it, and hopefully the rest of you find a good Starfinder game soon. I might make another one at some point.

See you all in the Gap!
