Rules for Wilderness Travel:

In a given day the group can travel 12 miles.

12 hours each day you will need some protection from the heat.

Armor has 24 hours per level of protection you can divvy up per hour.

Every day:
DC 18 Survival to avoid getting lost
or
DC 12 Survival to follow tracks.

Avoiding getting lost is harder, but you can move further. Following tracks you can move 3/4 the days speed, but is easier. Only 1 person can be on point for this, with assists being allowed. If you fail either of these checks you only make 1/2 process.

Because you have Dr. Solstarni’s notes and the files from Ailabiens 21:2 you have a +2 on these Survival checks.

Weather:
You can use suit’s protection, air bubble, or can make a Fortitude save each hour (DC 15 + 1 per previous check) or take 1d4 nonlethal fire damage. Heavy armor gives a -4 penalty on this. You can roll a Survival at the beginning of the day to provide a bonus to this.

If you take heat damage you suffer heatstroke, (Fatigued condition). These penalties go away when you are healed of the damage.

-2 penalty for each range increment after the first. All weapons can be fired up to 10 range increments away.

Weapon Point attribute: A weapon with this special property is always short range and can’t be fired against targets that are outside the first range increment. If a tracking weapon would hit a ship in an arc that contains a weapon with the point special property, the gunner of the targeted starships can attempt an immediate gunnery check with the point weapon against the incoming tracking projectile using the bonus listed in parentheses in the weapon’s Special entry (instead of her usual bonus to gunnery checks). The DC for this gunnery check is equal to 10 + the tracking weapon’s speed. If the attack hits, the tracking weapon is destroyed before it can damage the ship. A point weapon can be used to attempt only one such free gunnery check each round, but this usage potentially allows a point weapon to be fired twice in a single round.

As the large Vesk level's his gun down onto the group, Tylur's blasts tear it apart. It's body riddled with bullets, it falls to the floor. It's gun clacking against the hard metal plates of the floor.

Zam would have screamed in surprise and pain when the burning ray struck her, except that the air was also knocked out of her lungs, and so she only emits a painful grunt. Falling to her knees, blood and gore from the exploding Vesk peppers her and Sybil as the latter administers her healing spell. The blood, smoke, gunfire, not to mention the trauma to her body as it was burned and reinvented, all combine to leave Zam dizzy and a bit incoherent.

Looking down, she sees that her clothes are ruined, though her body seems to still be in one piece. Miraculously, she still grips her pistol in one hand.

She falls back against the wall, her pistol raised to fire upon the next gangster who comes through the door.

The rooms seem quiet for now. Though as the sound of laser fire settles, you can hear what sounds like someone in the other room rummaging though things.

From what you can tell, there is only the sound of 1 person in the other room. In the chaos you have also missed the music stop in the dance floor. It sounds like people are exiting the club, fast. They must have heard your gunfire.

{Zam: I only saw one other in the room beyond} Tylur silently responds to Zam's telepathy in his mind, {It's gotta be Ferani, and we need that one alive if we're going to interrogate her. So, leave the big gun for now. I'll hit her with my pulsecaster. Between that and Dee's magic, we should be able to incapacitate her.}

With that, the soldier leans in closer to Dee to whisper to the android. "You think you can hit Ferani with that spell of yours to stun her? If so, I think I can safely take her down with my rifle and keep her alive."

"Unfortunately I must be able to see her in order to do so. However, depending how strong her will is it may or may not work." Whispered the elf-droid back. Dee knew that her magic would work on the weak willed, logic dictated that Ferani wouldn't be one of those individuals. "I can attempt to do so if you wish?"

"It's either that or hammer her with those energy blasts of yours before I knock her out with my rifle. Bottom line, we need to take her alive if we can...then we squeeze her for information about Kreel's murder."

OOC: I'm not sure if we're still in combat turns at this point. Even if we're not, if we venture into the next room, we likely will be again. Tylur is last on the initiative order, but he's willing to be first through the door if it helps take attention off Dee so she can follow and use her magic.


I was kinda waiting on Sybil and Iradar, but We might just move things along, since there is a bit of a stalemate. Lets assume they just wait and hold their round. If any special actions wish to be done, let me know. We can go out of combat a bit.

What do you wish to do? Move forward for Tylur to go first? Nothing happens for a few seconds.

Sybil looks to the others as the discuss what to do. "Well, whatever we are doing, we best do it quickly, I am sure the rest of the gang will be along shortly if they aren't already."

DeeV8 did you run to the door and shoot those missiles? From where you are standing in Roll20 you can't see the gang leader at all. Also there is no need to prepare or have spells stored. You just get spell slots and can cast any spell you know. Spell cache just lets you cast an additional time at any spell level you know. Basically a free extra cast. So no need to prepare ahead of time.

With a grim nod, Tylur holsters his handgun and unslings his rifle as he approaches the doorway.

"On me, okay?" he instructs everyone, "Fan out as we go in so we're not all clustered together. They may have more grenades. Sybil? Hang back a little in case any of us need medical assistance...including Ferani."

With that, Tylur moves briskly into the next room, hugging the wall to the right, but keeping his eyes moving for any doors the gangster may have fled through.

I moved myself to the left side of the door entrance. I know I dont have to ready it, its just roleplay flair ;) If I can't see her I won't shoot my missiles. I am assuming I have to move first then wait until next turn to fire?


Dee, from where you are you, cant quite see her. You would need to go farther into the room a bit. You would normally be able to move and cast in the same turn, you just need to see the target. If you can see her in roll20 you can shoot, basically, since your eye sight lines up pretty well. We can just hold the action for now.

Ducking the shot that was surely meant for his head, Tylur sights down the barrel of his pulsecaster rifle at the gang leader in the far doorway. "You heard the woman! Drop your weapon! NOW! You wanna live?! Your only way out of here is to stand down! We're not here to kill you, but we WILL take you out if you continue to resist!"

Unfortunately, Tylur's menacing glare and adrenalin-laced, hostile intent does little to diffuse the tense situation. His former sergeant did always say he was a better intimidator than negotiator.

Sybil moves by the others to stand within the doorway. She considers for a brief moment of what do to, a weapon in her hand, and a few spell options were also available to her.

"C'mon, we have not shot at you yet and we could easily take you with the numbers we have but are instead standing here talking to you. I heard criminal folk were sometimes not the smartest, " the halfling says to Fernani and looks to Tylur with a shrug, "Perhaps you can prove the theory wrong? Come out, talk with us now and this could go well for everyone."

She throws her gun to the floor. Raising her hands up in the air.

"I surrender."

Was a little iffy about the Diplomacy DC. But she is cornered, and you were 1 away from the DC to move her to unfriendly, so if you count Zam as helping out, I think she would finally realize it was best to just give up.

Thank you, Desna. Zam takes a shuddering breath as the physical and mental trauma of the event catches up to her. Had she just shot, killed someone? Even if she hadn't made any fatal shots, if anyone died in this, surely she'd be an accomplice? They have to be quick about this, and try to get the hell out of here before they're all thrown in some cell. Starfinder HQ could very well deny having ever seen them before (though she hopes they can trust Chiskisk).

She stows her gun and finds her staff on the ground. Leaning on it unsteadily, she climbs to her feet, examining the results of their impromptu visit.

She peers into the next room, at the woman responsible for murdering Duravor. Who is she? What drives her? Zam figures Ferani must be wondering the same thing about her, or else how best to get off a quick shot between Zam's eyes. Struggling through a series of emotions, she tries to keep a brave face.

{Party: We can't stay here. We need to take her somewhere else and speak.}

"I hear ya, Zam," Tylur responds aloud for everyone to hear, "We'll be quick." He then directs his commanding voice at Ferani again.

"Hands up, behind your head!" he instructs as he keeps his rifle trained on her and sweeps the room. He makes sure to circle the gang leader until he can get a direct view of the room or hallway in which she had been lurking. Once he's satisfied there are no other combatants to be subdued, he moves back to Ferani again, standing behind her.

"No sudden moves," he growls, "Iridar? Cover the exit so we've got a clear path out of here. Fire on anyone coming to investigate. And give us a shout if you see anything out of the ordinary."

"Sybil? See if you can make sure the rest of the gang don't bleed out on the floor. No need for anyone to die." He puts an emphasis on that last statement for Ferani's benefit, and then adds, "Unlike Duravor Kreel..."

"Dee? Can you check the room for intel? Any kind of data sources...laptop computers, tablets, custom rigs, datapads, disks, and comm recordings. Take anything we can hack for information to aid and corroborate her interrogation. Weapons and credits, too. Let's degrade the Downside Kings' ability to perpetrate any future crimes, as well, but be ready to 'ghost' in no less than...5-10 minutes...tops. Go!"

"Zam? You got anything we can use to restrain this 'Queen' of the Kings? Zip-ties? Cuffs? Binders? We could use a bag as a hood for her head, too. Then we walk her out of here. Anyone wants to take a shot at us will have to risk taking her out." He leans in closer to Ferani. "That would be a shame, so you'd better make it clear that your people need to stand down if they try to stop us. Anything happens, our deal is off and you get an extra hole in that expensive cranium of yours."

What is found on a physical Search
Inside the small room Ferani was digging into, you find:
(Holoskin, autotarget rifle with 5 magazines of longarm rounds, 2 incendiary grenade Is, 2x mk1 serums of healing, a quick release sheath armor upgrade, 500 UPBs, and a few cred sticks totally 1200 credits total.

On Ferani's person:
Estex suit 1, club, tacitcal semi-auto pistol with 28 rounds, her data pad (tier 1 computer), 500 credits.

On Vrokilayo Hatchbuster:
Troop Ceremonial plate, assault hammer, azimuth artillery laser with 2 batteries, and 200 credits.

DeeV8 grabbing the datapad quickly bypasses any safeguards installed. DeeV8 quickly locates several files confirming many of the Downside King' criminal activities, including several communications between Astral Extractions and the Downside Kings, ordering the gang to kill Duavor Kreel both as a message tot he Hardscrabble Collective and the corporation means business and to keep the Starfinder society from getting too curious about the Acreaon and the Drift Rock.

Back to Ferani directly
When DeeV8 Verifies the proof. Ha! Yes, I had that dwarf killed. To send the Hardscrabblers and Starfinders a message. She spits on the floor by Tylur's feet.

You are all able to gather the items you desire and get out of there will Ferani in tow. People give you a wide berth as you go.

Zam has never seen so much firepower in her life. Add it to the list of firsts for today. She's grateful that Iridar, Dee, and Tylur know how to handle all of it. She walks quickly out of the club, hoping her charred clothes don't draw too much attention.

So we need a safe house nearby. We could also draft her to Starfinder HQ, though we might be denied a chance to speak with her if she's immediately taken into custody. However, the communications between DK and AE all but confirm our suspicions, and give us a lead toward the corporation and its mysterious rock, so maybe we don't need to interrogate her.

"My, my..." Tylur comments aloud when the contents of Ferani's armory are revealed, "You guys built up quite the arsenal. I'll bet that stuff came in handy for causing all kinds of mayhem. Turns out, we're pretty good at that, too. Zam? Make sure Iridar knows we're carrying this out with us. We'll need an extra pair of hands. Anything he can't handle, I'll bring with me."

OOC: We take all of it. From an encumbrance perspective, we may need to spread out a few of the heavier pieces, but Tylur can handle most of it.

Another thought suddenly occurs to him. "Hey, Dee? You think they have a video surveillance system? Might be worth checking to make sure we erase any footage of us..."

OOC: After departing...

Tylur makes sure to stay close to Ferani the entire way. After binding the gang leader, he also makes sure she's blindfolded well enough that she'll have no idea of where they're going. He casts glances all about when they emerge from the club and start leaving Downsider territory. Catching Zam's eye, he encourages her to start one of their telepathic conversations again.

"{I doubt Chiskisk will want us to show up on his doorstep with Ferani. So, we need to find a way of turning her over to station security with a copy of the evidence proving she committed murder at the behest of Astral Extractions. If she's got connections with corrupt guardsmen, she might be able to pull some strings and get out of it. In which case, she and the rest of the gang will likely come looking for revenge.}"

"{And, on that point, there's another possible solution to how we handle this. Those data files Dee lifted should give Chiskisk what he needs...whether we deliver Ferani to the guards or not. So, that means we can explore other options on what we do with her. I'm not suggesting we execute her. But, there might be someone else who'd like a bit of revenge on her. Jabaxa. On your way of the club, you can tell the next room was exited quite quickly. Drinks are left untouched. The music has stopped, but the light show is still going crazy.

It does not take you long to find a few hard currency behind the counter. Totaling 317 credits.

I am not going to worry about encumbrance as you leave, since you are not going to be running around too much. We will want to "pack accordingly" when you are out adventuring.

Digging a bit deeper in the datapad you do notice a few cameras being used in the main dance floor. There is some footage, but other than footage of it clearing out, when the crowed seems to hear something, there is very little proof of you being there. The lights, and the mass of bodies actually hide your approach. To play it safe you can erase the day's logs anyway, if you wish.

Tylur might not now this, but someone in your team would, Chiskisk is not a he or she, it is a host. So it is actually correct to say it. Since they do have 3 races. I figure Tylur might just not know, but giving other characters the opportunity to correct him if they wish

Moving forward, even though we are missing a few players I think.

As you move through this section of the station, the crowed seems to give you a wide birth. Watching Ferani, all of the locals seems to understand what is happening. They do not wish to get in the middle of this.

You are all provided a safe exit from the area.

As you make your way up to a safer are of the station, you pull out a data pad and contact Chiskick.

When the connection is made you hear a slightly computer generated voice of the Sherrin's telepathy come through the speaker, "Ah greetings. I hope that things went well."

Assuming you inform it of what happened and of Ferani.
"I can arrange for Ferani to be taken into custody. Ping me your location and I will have security I trust show up and take her away. For now you should keep the details to yourselves. There is going to be some high level business dealings between the different companies about this. I will provide the information they request, but that way you can stay out of it. The grusome details should stay quiet, I think. Now we have to let the legal system take care of the Astral Extractions actions."

"Since you were able to resolve this mystery and finish this mission, I would like to invite all of you, officially, to the Starfinder Society. If you still wish to join, that is. I do not have any current jobs for you, but we will contact you as soon as something comes up. For now, enjoy the station's offerings! If you end up hearing anything about this Acreon and the drift rock let us know. Keep your eyes, ears, and antenna open for further news."

Once the team has had their conversation with Chiskisk, Tylur nods in satisfaction. Let the shirren handle Ferani's fate and the rest of them can fade back into the shadows. Of course, the Downside Kings...or what was left of them...might come looking for revenge. And, if Ferani's implied threat about the law being corrupt enough for her to skate turned out to be true, they'd likely have to deal with her again at some point. The big soldier smiled grimly to himself, as he doubted the outcome would be any different for her.

"Well, guys? Sounds like we're good. Let's hang here until station security takes her into custody. And Dee can turn over the evidence we acquired...though, I'd recommend making a copy in case something were to happen to the original."

From there, Tylur makes a point of keeping Ferani restrained and out of the public eye, moving the team to a small, defensible spot along the station's causeway where they can shelter behind a billboard next to an infosphere kiosk.

"We're gonna have a lot of confiscated gear to relocate afterward," Tylur says, "Once we're in the clear, we should sell off what we don't need so we can divvy up the funds. If we pair that with these cred sticks, that should give us enough to upgrade the rest of our stuff and make us more effective Starfinders. Hopefully, Chiskisk lets us stay together. We seemed to make a pretty good team back there. But, if not, let's all stay in touch." He catches Zam's eye and gives a curt nod to acknowledge her contributions in the firefight. There was no way to know for certain, but he suspected she had little combat experience. People process that kind of thing differently when they see such violence up close and personal. Even he had to catch his breath and steady his nerves after the adrenaline wore off, but it got easier after awhile.

The soldier's military training kicks in shortly thereafter as he takes stock of everyone's condition, making sure no one has any major untreated wounds. If he discovers anything alarming, he checks with Sybil to see if she can speed their recovery with more of her magic. After that, he purposefully reloads his weapons and better secures those they took from Ferani's gang, positioning them just out of sight so station security won't attempt to claim them.

“I have already done so, as a standard procedure.” Responded the elf-droid with a nod. She always made sure she made a backup of everything she did. A habit of being a former member of a rebel cell.

Dee felt a strange sense of satisfaction seeing Ferani being hauled away by the authorities. Despite not doing wrong, she felt a little uneasy when the authorities arrived. She was a member of the Starfinders, but still felt a little uneasy around people of authority. It was something she was trying to get over of course.

“I agreed with that assessment. I believe we have all contributed one way or another to the firefight.” She smiled at everyone, a strange wide smile. Then the android’s face return to its statuesque unemotional state. She had to agree with the soldier, they did indeed make a great time. "It has been a pleasure working with all of you."

As she listens to the transmission and the end invite, the halfling says with excitement, "Kinda of why we are all here I think. Count me in!."

"I would love to get a look at that rock though..." she says once the gang leader has been escorted away. "It does seem to be why we are all in this miss. I do have my own means to getting there... I am just not doing such a thing alone."

"Spoken like a good leader," Tylur winks, "See? I told you you'd be great at it. And I'm sure you'll make a good case for us staying together if Chiskisk or the Society higher-ups try to split us up...which I'm not keen on happening either, so I'll throw in my two cents if it comes to that..."

"Well, the infosphere said it was under quarantine anyway," Tylur responds, "But, yeah. Now, I'm kinda curious about it myself given all the trouble Astral Extractions and the Downside Kings went to to keep the Starfinders away from it. I imagine that's really what got Duravor killed. Chiskisk is probably thinking the same thing. That's why the shirren wants us to keep our eyes and ears open in case we can learn anything more about it. That said, I don't think we should just violate Absalom protocol and venture out there on a whim. A mission like that would take a lot more planning and effort...not to mention resources...especially since we don't even have a ship..."

Tylur looks around after station security has left with Ferani, trying to gauge the best route to depart without calling undue attention to themselves. Noting the burned condition of Zam's outfit, he slips off his armored jacket and puts it around her. "Let's get you covered up a bit more so folks don't ask too many questions." Then, he retrieves the confiscated gear he'd hidden before the guards arrived.

"Well, gang. Duravor's avenged and Ferani's out of our hands. I don't know about you, but I feel like celebrating. A stiff drink always helps take the edge off after a firefight like that. Let's get this reclaimed gear stowed in our room at the Moons and hit that casino again. Tomorrow, I can take some of it to the arms dealers on the station and see if they'd like to take it off our hands...I mean, anything the rest of you don't want to keep, of course. I'm kind of partial to this auto-rifle and assault hammer now that I get a good look at'em. And, that heavy artillery laser ain't really my style, but we might need it if we come up against something requiring more firepower. We can sort through all of it later, I guess. But, for now, everybody grab something and let's try to look as inconspicuous as we can lugging this arsenal around..."

Tylur will heft some of the heavier pieces of gear so the team can get on their way. If any bystanders give them a questioning look or ask about the heavy armament, he simply says, "Sorry, folks. No worries. Just Steward business. We were on furlough, but got called up last minute. We haven't even had a chance to get back in uniform yet, but our CO demanded we bring all our gear in for inspection before we ship out again. We'll be out of your way in just a second. Excuse us...pardon me...oh, sorry, ma'am...didn't see you there..."

Once they're back at the Moons, Tylur gets cleaned up and makes sure everything's safely secured before rounding up the team for a trip to the bar and casino. "C'mon, gang...let's see if I can win a few hands at cards after I've had some drinks. What do you say, Dee? Do you play poker? Can androids still calculate the odds of a winning hand if they're drunk?"

Zam handwaves Tylur's talk of her being the leader. The idea still seems outlandish, but...possible. She figures there will be plenty of time for that later. Assuming they aren't shot at again. But that isn't likely, is it? Is it?

"Yea Sybil, there's definitely something up with this rock. It's on the short list. But with the quarantine, we'd be risking fate to investigate on our own, without an objective from Chiskisk. They know this mission is personal to us, and I hope they decide to keep us on it."

"Thanks!" she offers cheerily to Tylur's offer of his jacket. Though, frankly, with the amount of energy and activity on the street, Zam's charred clothes aren't drawing any eyes (she hopes).

"So Sybil," she says once they're back in the Moons, "You seem to know the station. Any ideas where we might get me some new clothes?"

Updated the loot sheet. Zam is interested in the incendiary grenades, as well as the holoskin. She could also put the tactical pistol and quick release sheath upgrade to use. With a return of only 10%, there looks to be an incentive to use items rather than sell them, so I encourage everyone to pipe up if you're interested in any items.

"Well yeah... there is that." The halfling says with a sigh at the mention of the quarantine. She looks about to make sure that no one is really trying to listen into the group before she comments, "As a Star Shaman, I can survive in the vacuum of space just fine. Much like DeeV8 I would assume." She says with a nod to her android companion.

She consider Zam's next question, "As for shopping, I usually shop for clothing meant for smaller folk, I am sure that I can come up with a few different places. Looking for anything in particular?"

“I would indeed love for our new team to stay together as well, especially under your direct Captain Zam.” Dee responded, nodding Zam’s direction. There seemed to be a silver of excited hidden within her elven eyes. She was very much satisfied to call these new people her team. “I too am in dire need to acquire new acquisitions.”

“Perhaps the Starfinders have a ship we could utilize?” Dee asked aloud after the soldier spoke. The elf-droid knew that their resources were very limited, but maybe they had something they could use to get us to this Rock everyone was speaking about.

As the team left the club, Dee followed closely behind Tylur. The soldier knew what he was doing, certainly someone who could help their team during tactical situations. Doing her best to look inconspicuous herself, but like the others, she smiled and nodded at everyone as they left the scene.

“Poker? The game of chance? I have seen the rules of this game, however, I have not yet endeavored to undertake in the task.” Dee looked intrigued at the thought of playing this game the soldier spoke about. “Drunk? I believe that my Android physiology may make the task a difficult one.” Androids were built pretty resiliently, especially against poisons and diseases. Alcohol wasn’t a natural substance, so her body would do its best to resist the attempt.

“I believe Zam is correct. Unless we have some sort of proper clearance, we will not be allowed to fly a ship into the Quarantine Zone. I would say that it is well guarded, and one could imagine that we maybe threaten if we attempt to do so without proper clearance.” Dee replied. She was assuming of course, but she could probably find it on the Infosphere if needed.

“You are correct Sybil, I can survive in the vacuum just fine.” Dee nodded at the Halfling Shaman. She found it interesting to hear that Sybil was immune as well. “Interesting, I have never met a living being able to do like my people can.” She smiled at the halfling woman, this time a little tamer than before. “I hope that was acceptable Tylur.”

“Perhaps an Armory? Or a place that we can reply our items?” Dee asked, if they needed to find it, the Elf-droid could do it via the Infosphere.

Zam has changed back into her professional attire for the time being, sans her polychromatic jewelry.

"Sounds like you'd be a natural at poker, Dee. No one could put on a better poker face!"

"Yea, just some basics," Zam says idly, activating her personal comm, helping Dee and Sybil locate a shop.

Through some basic searching through the infosphere on the station you find a few good choices for shopping:
1. Golarion silks - A shop specializing in recreation of Golarion styles. Mostly based on recreations. Not 100% accurate, but who really knows?

2. Eox styles - A bit of a darker shop. There are no actual Eoxians shopping here, but it does offer some more "dark and mysterious" choices. While many of it may make you roll your eyes, there are some pretty solid coats and other items there. If you can get past the other clientel.

3. Dispora utility - Plenty of very utilitary clothes. Resistant to lots of work and strain. Frequented by Dispora miners and other industrial proffessionals.

In terms of Armor and Arms, there are actually stations where you order from a basic set of gear. With what styling you want. Many companies allow thier wares to be styled and send down to you. Its mostly an automated process at this point. Just dial up what you wish and you get it. There is also a way to recycle old equipment this way, though it gives very basic store credit back. You never get as much back as you wish.

"Oh, really now?" Tylur laughs, "Well that sounds like something we need to put to the test...with a game of poker and a few rounds of drinks."

He looks around at everyone else. "The rest of you are welcome to join. There should be plenty of room at the table, and we can just play for fun among ourselves, if you like. I could teach a few of the finer points on how to bluff your opponent..."

Once everyone is cleaned up and presentable for a night on the town, Tylur leads the way to another casino. He orders drinks for the crew and locates a table with a deck of cards so he can deal up a game of poker for anyone who's interested.

"That's alright. I can teach everyone. And the cool thing about hold'em poker is we can all play at the same time at the same table. I'll explain the rules as we go."

Tylur locates a table they can use for just themselves rather than mixing with the rest of the casino's clientele. He then proceeds to teach the finer points of poker to those who are interested. Once someone loses interest, he deals them out and continues with the rest. Periodically, he orders drinks for the table from a passing waitress, having fun as he tests everyone's mental fortitude during a game of chance while under the influence of alcohol. And, throughout the entire evening, he makes an effort to initiate deeper conversations over cards with his newfound Starfinder colleagues.

After a few drinks and a couple of hands of poker...

"So, Sybil?" he asks, "How'd you come by your faith? What's a star shaman do exactly? And have you ever actually done a spacewalk without a suit? What's that like?"

Later, once he's got a good buzz going...

"What about you, Dee...? What's your story?" he strikes up a new line of conversation, "Can't say I've seen many androids custom-made to appear as an elf. I'm not trying to be insensitive. Just curious, really. Any androids I ever met were battle-tested...grunts really...and viewed as expendable 'resources' in combat. Not that I ever fought alongside any. Usually, they were on the other side..."

Even later, and in danger of becoming truly drunk...

"Zam? I think you're starting to get the hang of this game. That might be the third hand I've seen you win. Maybe those early lessons are paying off? Or, maybe it's just your telepathic advantage. Is that how it works? Can you read someone's mind and know what cards they're holding? Or, is it just good intuition because you're a shrewd judge of character...?"

As she sips on the same drink most of the evening the halfling, while a worshiper of the Goddess of Luck, had little interest in gambling this evening.

She starts her answer to Tyler with a smile a recalling what led her down the path to Desna, "A dream. Perhaps it was a vision. I do not really know but whatever it was, what I saw that night started be down the path to finding my place with Densa."

“Thank you for the compliment.” Dee replied, nodding proudly at Zam. The elf-droid had learned a lot ever since her arrival here with her teammates.

DeeV8 was happy to be invited in their endeavor for the evening. It was nice not to worry about anyone pulling a blaster and shooting you in the back. But this was still Absolom Station, and the elf-droid always seemed on her guard. It shouldn’t surprise anyone since she had been created by Dark Elves after all.

Dressing up was an interesting process for the Android. She wore a tight purple and black bodysuit, knee-high boots, and a dark purple long jacket.

Slender and slim, it appeared to have been tailored by elves. Form-fitting, it did reveal that Dee had indeed taken the designation of a female. The elf-droid follows behind everyone, keeping quiet as her eyes took everything in. She wasn’t too bad at poker, learning quickly as the team played.

"What about you, Dee...? What's your story?"

“I use to be known simply as Eight.” Dee replied, sitting straight up in her seat. “Created by the Nocturnum Mega Corporation within the capital city of Nightarch on Apostae. Fabricated as special agents, we were sent in during ‘diplomatic missions’ during business dealings. As the other Seven Androids followed orders without question, I on the other hand...began to question our creators.” She let the information sit a little before continuing.

“I found that I could wield technological magic, and it wasn’t until I was liberated by the Android Abolitionist Front that I earned my freedom. It’s leader, Plexin 1, offered me a position within his cell and I accepted. That’s when I became DeeV8, a play on words to deviate against those who oppressed me. After fifteen years, I decided it was time to evolve who I am and join the Starfinders as a start to that endeavor.” She relaxed now, happy to have shared that information with her new teammates.

"Interesting," Tylur responds. "I've experienced weightless environments before, including spacewalks among the asteroids of the Diaspora, but always with a suit, of course. There's no mysticism involved in that, but it was pretty awe-inspiring just the same to be drifting among the stars."

"Apostae, huh?" Tylur ruminates on that thought for a few seconds. "The dark elves then? Can't say I've had any experience with them until Iridar came along. I've heard stories, of course. They craft potent weapons according to most of them. Some infused with magic granted by demons, if there's any truth to that."

"I've also heard of the AAF. They've got a presence in the Diaspora, and though I'm originally from Akiton, once I got off-world, I spent some time prospecting among the asteroids and even helped a Starfinder mission survey a few of them in search of an alien ruin. We never found anything, but we did come across a few cells and outposts of androids, most of whom we assumed had affiliations or sympathies for the Abolitionist Front. That was the first time I ever encountered any that could be deemed...peaceful. Instead, I saw far more androids on the other end of a rifle scope on the battlefields of Akiton. So, forgive me if I seem a bit wary. I always get my guard up when I meet an android. And, since your kind are often hard to read...in terms of emotion...sometimes it's difficult for me to extend my trust."

"However, I do have to say, Dee. After going through the firefight together and facing off against those Downside Kings, you've certainly earned my trust. And that magic of yours...technomancy? That stuff came in real handy for keeping our opponents confused and occupied long enough for me to hit'em hard and tip the scales in our favor. So, like I said before, all of us seem to make a good team."

And with that, Tylur raises his glass. "To teamwork and the Starfinder Society!"

Zam burps softly and laughs as the room spins. The fizzy drinks are beginning to catch up with her. "Sybil, that's so...amazing! I don't know what I would do if I could float in space. Could you float all the way to Castrovel? That's a terrible idea, I know, but..."

She grows quieter as Dee shares her dark tale. "That's just terrible, Dee. I wondered where your name comes from, but I didn't realize. Is Apostae as bad as people say?" She ponders something a moment. "This means you're totally bad-ass! Can you kill a man with your thumb?"

"Here here!" She raises another near-empty glass to clink against the others. "I say, once we expose Astral Extractions and send some people to prison, you all come visit Castrovel. I could show you around Qabarat, and you can see the teeming jungles, the enormous gas clouds, and even the predators."

“Yes, they are vile and nefarious creatures.” Dee stated, her features turning sour. Until Iridar, she hated the dark-skinned elves. They had enslaved her, making do their bidding until she was liberated by AAF. “Despite this, they are the best weapon makers in the Pact Worlds.” Her tone was matter-of-fact and had no true emotion. “I have seen their demon worshipping first hand, what rumors you’ve ever heard about Drow are very much true.”

“Bad-ass? Oh you mean my skills are extraordinary?” The elf-droid responded, eyebrow raised inquisitively. “As for killing a man with my thumb? I have yet to attempt such a feat so I couldn’t acknowledge that I have attempted it.”

“No apologies needed, like all humans we have our own individuality. Some Androids are peaceful, while others are filled with hatred against those who oppressed them. I had the pleasure of meeting both, while my mentor followed a grey line between the two. I do have to say that his Cell has freed a lot of Androids throughout the years.” Dee seemed happy to speak about this part of her story.

“Yes, my skills have always been with the art of technomancy.” Replied the elf-droid revealing a momentary lapse of emotion. “Once my talent was discovered by my creators, I was trained by the best Technomancers in the Nocturnum Mega Corporation.” She seemed a little perturbed even mentioning her masters.

“However, I was fortunate enough to learn from Plexin 1, the leader of the android AAF cell.” She took the compliment in stride, nodding to the grizzled soldier. “I have been programmed to be tactically adept in most situations.”

“Indeed.” Dee raised her glass, watching others before she took her drink.

As the night ends for everyone, as the station's day/night cycle switches to morning. Your group wakes up, does whatever preparations your person/race needs. As you exit your respective rooms, each of you finds a small card sitting right outside your doors.

The card is made of actual paper of some kind. It looks to be a note. A note that is printed on paper as black as the void. it is hard to look at.

In slightly grey print on the black page:
Your company has been requested. His Excellency Gevalarsk Nor, ambassador of Eox, would kindly request your presence at the Eoxian embassy in Parkside. This card will allow yourself and your party entrance to the embassy.

On the card lists your name, as well as the names of each of your new Starfinders you have worked with.

"I'll definitely take you up on that," Tylur soberly replied. He seemed to be holding his liquor well despite how many drinks he'd had. "Part of the whole reason I decided to change careers was so I could put the military behind me and explore the wider galaxy. I've heard amazing things about Castrovel, and even saw a few vids on the infosphere. There's more plant-life in one city on that planet than just about all of Akiton. Red desert sand gets old really quick. I'd love to visit someplace more exotic...especially with someone local to show us around."

Groggy and dealing with a slight hangover, Tylur squints at the tiny card. Its black void-like paper creates a blurry effect that hurts his head, but when he notes the reference to Eox his eyebrows shoot up. The planet of the dead? What would an ambassador of Eox want with a team of Starfinders? And how did this Gevalarsk Nor even know about them...much less where to find them? The paranoid side of the big soldier made him wonder if Ferani and the Downside Kings had some kind of connection to the Eoxians, but that seemed unlikely. Maybe Astral Extractions? Doubtful.

No, it seemed more likely the request for a meeting would concern an entirely different matter. But what? And why contact a group of newly-commissioned Starfinders who had only been on Absalom Station for a couple of days? Did Chiskisk refer to them someone so soon? "Well...I guess there's only one way to find out..." he muses.

Once Tylur finishes strapping on his routine gear, he rounds up the rest of the team to show them the card, not yet realizing all of them received the same thing. Once he finds they've all got one, he offers a bemused frown. "Any of you got any experience with Eoxians? I gotta say, I'm not completely comfortable with stories of dead people still walking around and living an...unnatural?...life. I mean, when I put someone down with a bullet or a knife, I like'em to stay dead. Just the idea of such things still moving about creeps me out a little."
