Hello and welcome aboard Lucella, Kavakki, Brevon, Gadoongo, and Cael. I am really really looking forward to getting this going and interweaving your individual backgrounds into the game. Please post here your final builds. If you have any questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. I will be available for the next 3.5 hours to answer any questions or to simply chat. If you are new to the boards and this is your first play by post game please let me know and let the others here welcome you to one of the best places for games on the interwebs.

Hello all, ready to get started here I think. Tinkered a bit with skills but pretty sure I'm set otherwise.
Mathpro, do we have an idea of when we'll get started? Today, tomorrow, whatever.
DM Mathpro |
I'd be ready to start today but if others need a little more time to get things settled we can push back to tomorrow. I think I'll throw up a gameplay thread and those of you ready can role play a little while we wait for anyone who isn't. Need to get more PM's sent out to those selected and get a discussion thread up for the second group yet so it might be a little bit.
Brevon Sabor |
Hi everyone! Thanks DM for running this game--this is a very good looking group. My build and background are complete. Brevon started in a 3PP module that, sadly, never took off, so I have a little experience playing him.
RP wise, he's a good man struggling through a dark depression. His devotion to Sarenrae has helped him overcome this, though he is still very haunted by his past.
He has is "secrets," like all of us :). His play a particularly important role in his story.
Can't wait to get started.
Gadoongo Heineous |
I will have to edit my sheet for the errata'd version of the ragebred (my Herolab put WIS+2 CHA-2, when it's currently STR+2 CHA-2). I'll have it done at some point tomorrow... The new version is actually better for my build. :)
Kavakii_Zhen |
Greetings fellow "chosen ones". I'm excided and anxious to get started. I've never played more than book 1 of ANY AP, and none of Carrion Crown.
I'm more intrigued with the unique background work the DM had us do. I can't wait to see how we all RP these fleshed out aspects and how the DM will be incorporating them into the game.
Human (6'1")
Monk (unchained)
combat role: battlefield control using trips mostly (don't expect much damage till after a couple levels)
IRL:
I live in Wisconsin (central time).
Played various versions of D&D since 2nd edition
Married w/ an adult stepdaughter
numerous pets
Spent 8 yrs in US Marine Corps
Full time job (10 hr shifts, 4 days/week)
I check another game I'm in on this board at least a few times, daily. You can expect me do keep that up here.

Hi all :)
Thanks for the pick GM Mathpro, I like the look of your campaign and the rest of the party too! Very nice to have a GM that wants to delve in to the character's backgrounds too rather than just following the AP, certainly gets us more involved :D
DM Mathpro |
Glad you liked it Brevon. Don't worry this isn't the only time I'll be using the information provided to spook you guys lol.
@Kavakii-Where in Wisconsin? My father is from Lake Mills, we used to have a summer home near Nekoosa(in Rome actually but no one ever knows where that is) and I went to UW-Platteville for my undergrad. I'm also a die hard packer fan lol.
Gadoongo Heineous |
Hey guys! My Gadoongo right now is mostly melee damage dealing and some sturdiness. I hope to make him beefier in the future, especially when my natural attacks start falling behind (on the first levels, they're excellent!).
As for IRL:
I live in FL and have been playing RPG since our AD&D second edition. My confessed love goes to Ravenloft. I spent three years on Navy, being a lieutenant of the reserve. I'm married with a newborn daughter and a full time job as a systems engineer. I travel a lot and my time is somewhat scarce but I always try to make some to come here to the boards.
Cael Vysorin |
I guess I'll keep the intro train rolling. Cael (pronounced like kale) is going to be mostly arcane utility with the occasional blasty spell.
I personally live in PA and have been playing DnD and other assorted tabletop games for the past 5 years or so since I was introduced to it in high school. Currently studying Computer Science and about a year out from graduating!
DM Mathpro |
Keep this train going. I live in Missouri though I grew up outside of Chicago and went to school at University of Wisconsin-Platteville. While there I majored in Mathematics and attempted minors in computer science, philosophy, psychology, history, and education. I've been playing table top games for about 15 years now. Right now I'm trying to get into a PhD program in Mathematics.
Kavakii_Zhen |
Where in Wisconsin?
Oshkosh.
I spent three years on Navy, being a lieutenant of the reserve
Hoo-uh! Thank you for your service.
I live in Missouri though I grew up outside of Chicago
Lol. You went from Wisconsin to Missouri, I grew up outside Kansas City and ended up in Wisconsin.

Do you have any preferences for the format of posts? It would appear we all are on the same general guideline:
Bold for spoken word
Italics for character thoughts
unaltered for narrative
I assume, we can use OOC to convey info out of character?
Lucetta De Leon |
So I will join in too :)
I live in New Zealand (emigrated from the UK years and years ago). Been playing RPGs since 2nd edition AD&D (I think the first book I ever picked up was the original Oriental Adventures!). My guilty pleasure is liking the Birthright setting! Plus I too am a Systems Engineer! I spend most of the time with my partner and our kids when I'm not working, so no time for face to face RPing! I run 'The Walking Dead of Golarion' campaign here on the boards, and play in a handful of other campaigns, so I'm on at least once a day :)
I'm really am looking forward to playing this with you all!
Brevon Sabor |
I live in North Carolina, US. I'm 32, but only discovered tabletop RPGs a few years ago, Pathfinder being my initiation into the hobby. I played in society and even GM'd a couple of home groups, but my schedule has been more hectic recently and so I've turned to PbP as my gaming outlet (and I'm really enjoying it). I'm an attorney and adjunct instructor, but also returning to school to prepare for the med school exam. I'm a glutton for punishment...
I"m also a fan of all things horror, so CC is an AP I've avoided learning anything about in hopes a game would materialize. That said, I'm real excited to be here and, like Lucetta said, look forward to playing with ya'll!
Brevon Sabor |
After checking with GM I'm switching my Light sub-domain for its parent domain, Sun. I lose blinding flash in exchange for increased channeling potency against undead.
Gadoongo Heineous |
Well, PbPs are kind of slow anyway. I guess this beginning (with people "splitting" the not-formed-yet party and taking individual actions) make it even slower, but it's natural. Once the party actually exists we might be able to move more steady as a group.
DM Mathpro |
Hey guys just a heads up I have family in from out of town and tomorrow is a designated family day so I won't be posting at all. They've been here a week tomorrow so Saturday and Sunday will be spent saying goodbyes and then recuperating from their visit. What is it about spending time with ones mother in law that is so stressful lol. So I probably won't post again until Monday.
Brevon Sabor |
Hi all,
I've recently taken up my hand at GMing and am enjoying it. I'm looking to start a Beginner Box campaign for people new to PbP. If you know someone who's a relative newbie either to Pathfinder or play-by-post, please send them to the recruitment thread. Thanks!
DM Mathpro |
Okay guys your first combat has arrived so I'm going to type up a post, hopefully not a wall of text, that will help explain how this is going to work. I have created spoilers for everything to help try and limit the wall of text effect. Please read all spoilers below and if you have any questions please post them here so we can discuss or you can PM me.
-I will roll init for you. This will be done in a spoiler at the bottom of my summary post(detailed later). I will label it init rolls or something similar and you should look at the rolls and the init order for the combat so you can better choose your actions.
-You will post your actions for the round, as well as possible second options if your first option is no longer viable when its your turn to act. And roll any necessary rolls for those actions(attack rolls, damage rolls, spell resistance rolls if you have figured out things have spell resistance). These posts do not need to be made in init order, just post when ever you can.
-After everyone has posted actions for the round I will come and summarize everything in a post, resolving actions in initiative order. If saving throws are needed for spells cast on the party or by monsters I'm running they will be in a spoiler in my summary post. You can read this spoiler if you wish. If attacks of opprotunity are needed I will roll them for you to keep things moving swiftly. These rolls will also be in a spoiler in my summary post. The very last spoiler in my summary post will be labled DM EYES ONLY KEEP OUT and SHOULD NOT be read by players. It is where I track all the HP and status effects of the bad guys and if you don't want things spoiled for you DO NOT read that spoiler.
Round 1 Wrap up
Boran strikes the giant right in the leg and opens up an artery with his swing, coating the warrior in blood. Because of the spay of blood his other two attacks miss. Garrosh you cast your spell. Wren casts her spell and she feels the dragon resist it at first but then the spell takes hold. Skarn you start your judgements and move to engage the giant. Next round you will be able to take a full action against the giant. The dragon, seeing the party materialize will breath fire down on everyone attacking the giant, and the giant itself. Skarn, Boran, and the Giant are unable to move out of the way of the breath weapon and take the full brunt of the flames but thanks to Wren's prot energy spell cast in sandpoint before you left Skarn you are unharmed. The giant and Boran take 34 damage. Nadezdha and Taket both dodge to the side and are only mildly singed by the breath weapon and take 17 damage each. Garrosh and Wren you are still under the effects of protection from energy and take no damage from the breath weapon. Taket you swing your blade through the giant and it drops lifeless to the ground, singed and bleeding. Wren you feel your spell take hold and the dragon is now confused. Nadezdha seeing that the giant is down and the dragon just swooped down at the party you let lose your arrows at the dragon. Three of them lodge deep into the creatures hide.
Very good round guys! You took down a giant in less than one round...very impressive. There are other giants pillaging the town that you guys can move and attack next round. There is one with in 30 feet of you so those interested in mele can start working on a giant. Those of you who want to target the dragon can do so as well.

I honestly don't know.
I am kind of fond of the group we have going, and playing with 4 is a nice change of pace for me (most of my games have 6). Also I think our classes make a nice combo.
But, I don't know this AP, at all. I don't know what's in store for us, or how valuable (or necessary) an arcane caster will be.
I'm not opposed to adding another player. These are just my thoughts.
Lucetta De Leon |
I'm good with our current crew, have been enjoying the interplay :)
Brevon Sabor |
How are we managing loot?
Of the stuff we found in the crypt, Brevon will handle the magical items:
1 scroll of detect undead
2 scrolls of hide from undead
1 scroll of protection from evil
4 haunt siphons
In addition, there are 2 potions of lesser restoration he can carry. We have a total of 5 potions of CLW. I propose that each of use carries one, and that one of our melee fighters (the rest of you) carries a second.
We also have six flasks of holy water, and I propose we each carry one. Someone with high dex might make the best use of them.
As to the arrows, etc., they are especially potent and will no doubt be needed in the Harrowstone. Who wants to use a bow? :).
