The possum playing dead visibly tenses when he hears the half elfs condemnation of him and as Marcus quickly employes a non-lethal approach, the result is still affective. Now the fool wasn't playing possum.
Tippy moves into the dim light expecting to stay invisible but realizes his mistake when the tiefling turns and spots him without error. A new target before tiefling, he follows through with a backhand swing of his flail against the smaller target.
"A dog biter in league with a pump sucker, ha ha ha. To the dirt with you both."
Flail attack vs Tippy AC18 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 171d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
The swing misses barely and the wind swept across Tippy's face but all the Tiefling could see was the wicked smile on the halfling's face as he new he would soon get to bite back at the sideshow.
Back over to the western face of the fight, the rapier wielding thug moves forward sneering as he goes, a maw you would more expect on something dead but then again he is a junky. He attempts to Demoralize as many as he can in the group.(in range are Ethaniel, Ascaria, Marcus)
"Hehehe, go, go ready to stick stab ya all. Skewered like a rat on the spit.FACE ME!!"
Intimidate Check vs DC10+HD+WIS 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Success = Shaken 1round + 1round per 5 over DC.

After his companion moves forwards and unleashes his demented state upon the party visibly shaking some of them to the core, the bowman maintains his stand and lets loose another arrow at his nearest target. He draws a specific arrow which causes a smile to come over his face as he lines you up and lets it fly.
"You'll be stripped naked when i'm done with you."
Ranged attack vs Ethaniel AC21 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
A look of disbelief and anger replaces his smile as the arrow flies completely off target and embeds itself in a wall.
Ascaria de Vintre |
Current HP: 5
Condition: Shaken (4 rounds remaining)
0: Detect Magic, Guidance, Message
1: Charm Person, Cure Light Wounds
Ascaria carefully flexes her shoulder where the arrow struck her and cringes from the pain. These may be junkies but they are dangerous.
She whispers to Blackbeard who is sitting on her other shoulder. "Take off, Blacky. Take cover somewhere..."
Blackbeard will land on a nearby rooftop.
As the black bird takes to the air, Ascaria straightens and faces the rapier-wielding thug. She concentrates on his contorted face and pulls up the magic from within her mind. She casts charm person on the junkie (will save against DC 10 + 1 + 3 = 14 negates).
Then she moves behind Marcus (R20).
Ascaria de Vintre |
@Waife: I think, he should have received a +5 on his roll due to being threatened/attacked by the party. Not that it matters though...
On hearing Marcus address her as "dove", Ascaria cannot help but smile. Did he just attempt to flirt with her in the middle of a fight? That guy really got nerves of steel!
"I think we should send him home... Hawk." she mutters to Marcus, putting a good-natured emphasis on the last word. Then calls out to the thug , speaking as a free action. "Hey there, my friend! Don't you think it's time to go home now? Get some rest and maybe we'll see you later..."
Tippy Fullbottle |
"Hey, you, get over here and help me with this guy!" Tippy calls out to the dwarf.
Tippy 5-foot steps to AA37 and waits for Grumm to step into flanking position.
Readied flanking attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8
Never mind...:)
DM_Waife_the_BiPolar |
The charmed thug replies.
"Why I had no idea it was you, changed your hair or something? Yeah, sorry bout the misunderstanding you know. I mean, i can't speak for these guys but I best be getting along."
His cohort looks at him in utter astonishment and refocuses after shaking off the unusual occurrence.
"Oh gods, she's a bloomin witch."
Iscarel |
Thought I'd pop in to roll another perception check before my turn comes up. I'm running out of targets and I'd hate to get through this fight without cutting anything.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
DM_Waife_the_BiPolar |
@Iscarel
There is someone through the alley back from where you came that is taunting Tippy and a dwarf by the sounds of it from the comment 'pump sucker'. You can hear Tippy calling out to someone to get into the fight to help him. You can also see that the bowman continues to hold his ground for now, even when his companion has left him on his own.
Iscarel's Initiative
Ethaniel Meveri |
Yeah, I've been wondering how aware Ethaniel is of the other part of the encounter involving Tippy and Grumm. I think he might have a distinct interest in checking up on Tippy, as Tippy mentioned three "snakes" behind the group (and Ethaniel heard him). I don't want to metagame my way that direction without justification though. Are we to the west generally aware that something is going on over there too?
Grumm Gær |
Grumm, seeing that another has joined his battle at such an optimal location, decides to flank in to AB39 whilst wielding his axe. He then makes a strike to the felon with all his might.
"Hello there, halfling. How's life?"
Bonuses: Flanking, Rage, Power Attack
attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 9
damage: 2d8 + 6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 + 3 + 3 = 15
My rolls are becoming quite idiotic.
Iscarel |
Hrm, I don't see any simple options, and this was far too difficult from my phone. I don't see that I can get to attacking range at all, nor can I make a run or charge action, so I'll double move to the choke point at X32, hopefully I can get an attack of opportunity of anyone emerging from the darkness.
Ethaniel Meveri |
As Ethaniel watches the ghastly man with the rotting mouth walk away, a shudder runs down his spine. He looked...just like him. He remembers the point of Henri's rapier. He remembers his foul breath. His cruel laugh. Focus! The half-elf looks back to the enemy archer that still holds his bow.
"Help Tippy and Iscarel." he grumbles in the direction of Ascaria and Marcus. With that, he surges towards the lone bowman. Ethaniel moves to O13 (Move Action).
He stares hard at the man as he chants a prayer.
Standing in the heart of the cloud of fog, Ethaniel listens for footsteps, trying to push the image of the other man's horrid grin from his mind.
DM_Waife_the_BiPolar |
Ranging Druggo yells out in exasperation.
"You had to go an pick a group of bloody mages? F this lot."
@Marcus
You make it all the way into melee with the tiefling. Beware that you loose Dex to AC when using Run.
The Tiefling side steps to avoid the current predicament caused by his flanking foes and has an attack again at the dwarf.
Flail vs Grumm Rage AC14 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
"Snuff, get your a$$ back here and give me a hand."
Those of you watch as the Tiefling's flail attack lands heavily, an audible crunch issued from the impact and the dwarve's head jolts, his knees bend and he falls prone in the dirt.
DM_Waife_the_BiPolar |
Grumm Gær |
... Well this sucks
With the hit of the flail, the dwarf is knocked unconscious before he can make a witty remark.

Ascaria de Vintre wrote:Fixed that for you ;)On hearing Marcus address her as "dove", Ascaria cannot help but smile. Did he just attempt to flirt with her in the middle of a fight? That guy really got BALLS of steel!
Thanks! Not being a native speaker sucks at times... ;)
Ascaria sees Ethaniel vanish in a billowing cloud of fog. With a frown she thinks to herself "I hope he knows what he's doing..." Then she turns on the spot and runs to X28. She sees Iscarel lurking near the corner of the nearby building and softly calls out to him in Elvish.
"Ha'la muivennen ascar."
She puts the fortune hex on Iscarel.
DM_Waife_the_BiPolar |
Snuffy moves around the corner enough to get a shot off with his bow.
He picks the halfling being his most open target, even if the dim light was making it slightly more difficult to aim true.
Bow attack from Stealth (Perception DC20) otherwise flat footed.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 101d8 ⇒ 1
If my roll hits, roll a d100 for 20% Concealment Check. Result of 80-100=Miss

Tippy Fullbottle |
Tippy ignores Snuffy for the moment, choosing instead to help his companion with the tiefling, flicking daggers at him.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (1) + 5 - 6 = 0
Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 - 10 ⇒ (5) + 5 - 10 = 0
Well, I'm sure his companion is grateful for the assistance! Growling a curse as his throws go way off their marks, he flicks his wrists and the daggers from his spring loaded sheathes pop into his hands.

Iscarel's Initiatve
Ascaria moves quickly toward you and is ready to support you from range. An arrow flies through the group, which could only have come from a good distance away. Two daggers, fly past the tiefling but never appeared to threaten the flail wielding strong arm. Marcus is only just visible around the corner from you.
Ethaniel Meveri |
Do I have enough awareness of the direction I came to try to run back towards the (supposed) direction of the party? I know there will be a movement penalty, but Ethaniel's first priority is to back to the others, now that he's blocked visibility of the street.
Ethaniel Meveri |
I don't think I'll risk the Acrobatics check. Last time Ethaniel did that, he fell down the stairs. I glanced at the rules on Run, and I can't take that action without visibility. The best I can do is a Move-Move, which should take me 20 feet. I'm having a hard time figuring out if that would take me out of the cloud (20 foot radius), or just to the edge of it. I'll trust Waife on that, I think.
Ethaniel takes a Move-Move in the direction of the party (20 feet).
Iscarel |
Maintaining inspire courage as a free action. I hope people are remembering their bonuses!
Iscarel will move six squares to the right, and toss a dagger at the opponent in Z39, raising the other in a reverse grip, ready to strike like a viper.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
DM_Waife_the_BiPolar |
20% Concealment Check vs Marcus' Attack 1d100 ⇒ 93 81-100 = miss
Iscarel pushes forward yet refrains from getting too close to the tiefling and lets fly with a dagger. The throw missed however and the tiefling had another target to be wary of. As the dagger flew by however, another stepped into his view of the dagger throwing elf and this one delivered what was thought to be a painful two handed slash to his leg yet the dim light aura from his spell gave him enough concealment to barely avoid the attack. A sinister smile came over his face as he found a foe that couldn't see as well within his aura.
DM_Waife_the_BiPolar |
Snuffy sees an elf come into the fray and he can hardly believe his luck. Also, another radiating light which thankfully, for him made it much easier to define his target. He moves nearer, still at a reduced speed due to the rough ground and lines up the elf.
"We got some banshee bait Zhelm, bag the elf."
