Ketill |
Ketill is always in for an enlarge person
Ketill swings once at the doll with his flail and then moves out of the way "Draebe!"
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Snebold leaps in for an attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Both miss the doll.
Ketill 5ft steps to the right and Snebold takes the open spot that was left by Ketill
DM Kludde |
Just to be clear, the doll is floating out of reach of (non-reach) weapons
Ketill |
Oh crap, then Ketill has taken a step back, thrown a javelin and gloriously missed (because of the rolled 2). Forget the "Draebe"
DM Kludde |
Ketill's javelin flies wide and hits a beam in the back of the hut, while Variel starts casting an enlargement on Ketill.
Can somebody post an action for Kezia?

The bird got hit by the haunt in the ice-block maze - and returned filed with fear.
I did not understand what you said there DM, which haunt? Have we meet said haunt before? Can you describe it please?
Ketill |
My money is on the fleeing girl...
DM Kludde |
Yes, the fleeing girl led to a haunt, within the ice block maze. Ketill noticed it before he triggered it, but the bird had no way to avoid it, and ran into haunted images or fear and despair.
I'll assume Kezia will also take a step back out of the frosted area
Kezia's bolt joins Ketill's javelin in slamming into the cabin roof. The doll conjures a ray of frost, and aims it at Joesef, but misses sorely, as she does not manage to get the required stability in her current levitated status.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Joesef fires again! Bow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 for Arrow: 1d6 ⇒ 6
He then retreats out of the frosted area, severely affected by all the cold.
Kezia Talinathe |
Fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Sorry for the inaction! This is to see if she can even take those actions from before ^^
Edit: She's disabled (0 hit points) and staggered..so unlucky!
Variel Arivae |
Variel finishes his incantation and Ketill grows to the size of a giant! The elf then draws his wand and cast it at the elven maiden. This is turning into a bad habit missy!
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Ketill |
"Now this feels more like it!"
Ketill swings his flail at the hovering doll
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
Extra Crit Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
DM Kludde |
Enlarged Ketill swing his flail at the doll, and sends it crashing down into a shower of shards. The large gem embedded in the doll's eye is dislodged and rolls forward, out of the cabin.
Variel's bird seems to calm down significantly.
Combat over!
Kezia Talinathe |
"...I should retire from this business before it even gets started."
Kezia eyes where the doll rolled out, but doesn't proceed to follow it.
DM Kludde |
The gem is definitely magical, carrying a necromantic aura. The gem has been identified before as the likely receptacle for the doll's soul.
Joesef Deadwillow |
So what do we do with the gem? Destroy it? Take it to a church or temple? Joesef then asks for healing.
Ketill |
"I leave that stuff to the mages" Ketill says to Joesef.
"Let's see if we can find any more tracks leading from this place."
Kezia Talinathe |
Knowledge(Arcane): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Likely effect if we break the gem? "Hmn...that may have consequences, though."
DM Kludde |
The tracks lead ever further into the snowy forest, curving around into a valley.
Breaking the soul gem would release the soul trapped inside.
Ketill |
"Sure"
Ketill places the gem on the ground and tries to smash it. If the gem does not shatter after the first hit he will try several more times.
DM Kludde |
The gem cracks, and a white mist trickles out, spreading over the floor. In the distance, within the ice block maze, a thin mist is swirling up towards the sky.
DM Kludde |
Apart from the cracked sapphire that was the doll's eye, the hut contains no valuables. The trail leads ever further into the forest, A cold wind blows through the valley, bringing a spray of sleet and broken ice. The sky ahead roils with thick, gray clouds and the sun is only a dim glow somewhere in the mist.
Ketill |
"Indeed let's see where this ends"
DM Kludde |
As the adventurers walk through the icy valley, Ketill notices a white shape rumbling toward the adventurers. He immediately recognises the creature as the giant weasel form the hunter's logbook!

"DRAEBE!" Ketill shouts as he charges the giant weasel, while charging he draws his flail and whirls the ball at the end of the chain into a great arc aimed at the animal's head.

Joesef Deadwillow |
Crud, I forgot to ask for healing over the weekend. I'm at 3/12 HP.
Joesef will close on the weasel and attack!
Cold Iron Scimitar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 for Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
DM Kludde |
Joesef rams at the weasel, opening a gash in the white creature's side. As curse by Variel, and a strong swing by Ketill, and the furry creature topples over, creating an ever larger red stain in the snow.
Combat over...
The large weasel match stye description of the hunter exactly. The snowy trail leads further down into the valley.
I think Joesef needs healing :)
Ketill |
Ketill could also use some healing.... Really sorry for exhausting your wand Variel, if I had the two PP i would have gotten my own.
Joesef Deadwillow |
Me too, if I wasn't a brand new adventurer. Assuming we can use her wand I'll roll for mine to save time.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Ketill |
"Sure, let's follow this trail down into the valley, but keep your eyes open. So far we haven't walked a mile without being confronted by someone or something that was out to get us."
DM Kludde |
Do you guys have all the healing you need? You're almost in the final area...
Ketill |
I think we are all at full HP. Let's do this!
Ketill |
I say we heal her. 10 hp is a lot better than 3 at lvl1
DM Kludde |
I'll give you until the end of the first round to decide whether you want to retro-actively heal or not. Maguses tend to be somewhat weak early on - they get pretty kick-ass later.
The adventurers finally reach the heart of the forest, a valley that is called 'Somir valley', normally one of the hottest place in the forest due to its location just below a cliff. The valley is now a trench filled with snow, and the wind is icy cold.
As the adventurers walk down the valley, the wind picks up, until it reaches a storm speed. Bone-freezing cold rolls in, and the hurricane-like howling is spiked with the sound of a faint, whisper-like there they are! Those are the adventurers that attacked the lodge. Kill them, kill them like Knobben commanded!
A being - similar to, but much larger than the atomies and sprites the adventurers encountered before, But still of 'small' size is carried by the wind. The wind itself seems to have a life of it's own, a swirling vortex, picking up snow and ice all around it.
Izoze will get you now! the ice creature says, as it jumps off the vortex in front of the adventurers and exhales an icy cone of sharp frozen crystals.
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Variel's hex holds full sway on the ice mephit, and it fails to evade the burly swing Ketill brings down, as well as the series of attacks from the pouncing tiger. The creature whinces from the strong attack by the ranger, though it doesn't to do much more than smirk at the tiger's efforts
