Tolgarov |
Tolgarov enjoyed his last day in Timon by eating a lot, drinking a lot and trying to know more about Helkit and her minion. Her fighting style, if she used bow or only melee weapon and if its gladiator was more like brute or more like rogue.
Diplomacy (GI): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Before the first fight he casted from his wand, mage armor on him and see invisibility from his mind and activate his Sihedron Medaillon

Confronted to the creature, Tolgarov tried to know more about it

Grim Dougal |
Just to clarify earlier, Grim is a 'people person', just not really skilled at the intricacies of social sparring, instead playing it low key and ensuring all his gear is in working order for the battle
DM Kludde |
Tolgarov spend his previous evening preparing, but learns little more than the stories told by the travelling bard. He hears stories of her piecemeal armour. From that, she definitely appears to be more the fighting type than the sneaking type. Stories are told of het mauling opponents with her great axe.
Upon seeing the creature, Cedric immediately realises the thing is not immune to fire, though using electricity against it would be a problem. He also remembers something about the creator actually being able to spew out electricity.
Shel moves forward as the crowd chants kill! kill!, using flaming hand gestures, which doesn't sit well with the crowd... boo!. It does not seem to have a lot of effect on the best, which is salivating at the tasty snack brought before it.
Rhydderich, meanwhile, stands ready.
Cedric, the range on those rays is 40 feet. You'll have to move into range first. Also, the shield only lasts 7 minutes - it will have worn off by the time the battle starts.

round 1
Cedric will cast a Fireball DC 20: 7d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 1, 4, 6, 1) = 24 at it. and move toward a pillar up north
Tolgarov |
Tolgarov dazzle by the light of the arena, took his magical rod and decided to cast a fireball on the creature after Cedric told him it had no resistance against fire.
After a short incantation a greenish fireball came above the creature and exploded in a loud bang !
Fireball (Reflex DC20): 9d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 6, 1, 3, 2, 2, 2) + 10 = 39
Then he took a step back.
Grim Dougal |
This is why Grim (sensibly) waited
DM Kludde |
Cedric rattles the brain of the creature, and the second explosion certainly shakes its nerves. Two huge explosions fill the arena - fortunately without reaching the spectators. The spectators who, by the way, greet the display with applause.
The magical beast is less happy with the fire engulfing it
Reflex, Cedric's fireball: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Grim and Misfortune both streak towards the creature, tearing across the Arena floor. Though they travel almost as one for the journey, towards the last they diverge and run the creature down.
Path is straight line with Grim ending his 80' of movement to the north and Misfortune to the South leaving space dead centre for other people to engage. Hopefully the thing was still flat footed and this was all enough! :p

DM Kludde |
Grim charges up to the magical beast and in one fluid motion drives home his falchion down into the neck of the creature, bringing forth a jet of gore, just as Misfortune sinks his teeth into one of the legs of the beast.
The creature seems somewhat unsettled by the level of resistance the party put up.

Rhydderich adds to the fray, and rams his blade home, drawing another stream of blood.
Startled by so much resistance, the creature retreats, and under the eyes of the jeering crowd boo! boo! climbs into the side of the side wall of the arena - disqualifying it before if even has a chance to fight. The crowd cheers in favour of the party, but is clearly longing to see more blood.
The party is being called back by the arena attendant. You have a few minutes before the next event. You may cast healing spells, but nothing preparatory. We're keeping an eye on you! the attendant says.
“Now, Tymons, here’s the match you’ve waited for! It’s been years since she earned her status as one of our finest, but she’s lost none of her skill or style with an axe. Let her know how glad you are to see her fighting again—you certainly don’t want to be on her bad side! Helkit! Silverbane!”
The eastern gate opens, and Helkit leads a group onto the floor. She wears a patchwork assortment of armor, scuffed and showing signs of many battles. Nevertheless, it is clearly custom-fitted and in excellent repair. She holds a chain, attached to the collar of a pony-sized beast resembling a cross between a wolf and a tiger. Completing her team are a number of men and women clad in oiled armor and tabards of silver and crimson. They come to a halt. Helkit unchains her pet, then brandishes her greataxe aloft to the vocal pleasure of the crowd.
I don't think anyone was hurt in that fight, so we'll just continue straight on
