Here's the discussion thread for the PbP Game Day game.
DM Kludde |
Hmm. Vy ez it not vorkink?
I don't know what the problem is here - I've had people report this kind of behaviour on the boards to me before. For some reason, there were able to post later. My best suggestion would be to try and reproduce the behaviour, and report it to board support, as it seems to me that it is a bug...
DM Kludde |
I think it makes you lvl 8:
0-2 XP -> lvl 1
3-5 XP -> lvl 2
..
18-20 -> lvl 7
21-23 -> lvl 8
You got any other characters in the right range?
DM Kludde |
It was suggested I briefly recap the following:
The pacing/tempo of the PbP game the GM wishes to set.
I’m accustomed to driving at a good pace, and I think lingering too long on a minor choice (i.e. spending two days to open a door) is a waste, so I’ll try and move forward whenever possible. Let me know when I’m going too fast. I typically run a single scenario in 3-6 weeks (typically 4).
How frequently you will post as the GM.
At minimum once per day, but my target rate is higher. I’m on GMT+2 at the moment, and I tend to post mornings and evenings. Especially in my evenings, I will post as much as I can.
How frequently the players are expected to post. (Including how long they will be given before being put in “Delay”.)
During combat, the target rate is resolves at least one round per day. Out of combat, I don’t have hard expectations, just keep the game moving. I’m using a delay system of 36 hours during combat: if you haven’t posted within 36 hrs of your turn coming up, I’ll ask any other player to come up with a move for you (within reason), and keep doing so until you check back.
What the player inactivity level (in days) will be before the player is dropped/replaced. (As well as what level of credit a player will get should they quit/get dropped.)
I usually send a gentle PM whenever I suspect inactivity. I’ll use the guiding principle of ‘three encounters’ as per the rules, but I generally treat every case by itself.
What process combat will follow. Including how initiative will work, posting expectation, how the GM prefers die rolls to work in combat, et cetera.
I use block initiative, but I keep track of original initiative order. During combat, I’ll put up a block of bolded names to indicate whose turns are up.
Where maps are hosted, and the expectations the GM has for their use.
I’ve put links up top. Let me know if you can’t see the map, or if you think I didn’t update it right. I’ll move all token, so please be clear where you want your token to go - the more precision, the better. At the start of combat, there’s usually a point where I just have to put everyone in some kind of position, so it helps to get some guidance on who is in front, who is in the back.
Any other expectations and processes the GM wishes the players to follow.
I shed tears of joy when people put up good roleplaying posts, that is really the best that can happen here. Other than that, I cannot possibly know all the rules. Feel free to correct me if I get something wrong, or if you suspect I did something wrong. If it gets lengthy, please discuss in the discussion thread.

@Alyssa: You can always play a pregen if you still want to join in, you're more than welcome to do so.
Grim Dougal |
Funky things to note:
Grim's companion is a white lion named Misfortune, sort of like a really angry Kimba. Yes its normally a black cat that is unlucky, so how unlucky would you be to be eaten by a white one? See? Misfortune it is.
Misfortune is a 'Magical Creature' by way of the Celestial Servant Feat.
It has 3 Int, and a rank in linguistics to understand common so it has a clue what people are saying around it and can be given clearer instructions for use in its tricks.
Through the Bodyguard AC archetype, it can always act in a surprise round (if any), via the Tenacious Guardian ability.

fireballing others without so much as a hello
Did anyone else get a vision of a bloated sorcerer kitty with a cute pink ribbon in its hair?
"Hello fireball"
Grim Dougal |
Niiiice.
Bloated sorcerer Grumpy Cat kitty with a cute pink ribbon in its hair.
"Oh you burnt to death in a fireball? GOOD!"
Grim Dougal |
Who is going to the challenge, and who is doing the talking?
Just getting our story straight...
Tolgarov |
Sorry for my silence, an unexpected trip in Normandy cut me from my access to internet...even from my phone
I will try to catch up !
DM Kludde |
Pas de soucis, things have been quieter over the easter weekend.
Grim Dougal |
Grim is doing his Maximus hoping it draws off the attention from Shel!
It's all just showbiz.
DM Kludde |
Well, well. Nice flawless victory there, you guys hardly broke a sweat. We're very near the end of this scenario, so in order to move reporting along (always a bit more time to do that on the weekends), I'm asking you to roll day jobs and either write down your pfs# here, or pm it to me.
Also, since this is an event, there's going to be a roll for boons. To keep this fair, I'm asking each of you to roll a single d20 in this thread. I get to roll as well, so here it is:
1d20 ⇒ 8
Oh boy, an eight. What would an eight mean?
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
PFS # 12445-3
Random roll 1d20 ⇒ 17
DM, thanks for running the scenario for us!
DM Kludde |
Also, who of you will continue at the Traitor's Lodge?
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
I'm not sure if I am currently playing that one or not. Could you spoiler the basic plot, so I can figure out if Shel can play or not?
Tolgarov |
PFS# 22523-9
Day job Caravan (Intimidate): 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (11) + 23 = 34
Boon ?: 1d20 ⇒ 15
I've already played this one from season 5
Thanks DM, it was very cool and thanks to all the other players. I hope you enjoyed playing with Tolgarov
M's |
Character Played: Kyra Pregen
No day job.
Boom: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Credit goes to:
Nicolae Tiberius
PFS# 35561-3
Faction: Sczarni
Not sure about the Traitor's Lodge. I can and would love to play it but I wanted to do so with one of my actual characters and they are still locked in games.
DM Kludde |
Hmm, spoilering the plot:
The blurb:
During the recent attack on Nerosyan, Pathfinders sought out a local venture-captain to aid in the city’s defense. What they found instead suggested the leader had not only fled recently but had played a part in the demons’ offensive. Venture-Captain Jorsal has determined that the safety and integrity of the Pathfinder Society requires that a team delve into the sealed basement beneath the abandoned lodge to determine what other plans his turncoat colleague may have set in motion.
Content in "The Traitor’s Lodge" also contributes to the ongoing storyline of the Grand Lodge faction.
The scenario is set in Mendev and gets very close to the world wound action.
Netopalis:
This scenario is fantastic. I love a good investigative scenario, especially when combined with some interesting combat. The final scene is amazing and the whole scenario has a tremendously creepy vibe. I also like the moral choices that the party must make as they advance. Overall, it's very, very interesting and highly recommended.
Kestlergunner:
We have tense and intriguing roleplay, challenging combats, a highly cinematic and stressful second act, plenty of nods to previous scenarios and a build-up of frightening metaplot information about what’s coming up next. The central NPC is a wonderfully written character who should remain in player’s memories for a long time.
So we've got
1. Shifty
2. Cedric
3. Shel (perhaps)
4. Merck (perhaps)
5. (Rhydderch?)
Tolgarov, a pity you can't make it. I truly enjoyed 'Hello Fireball', I'd love to see him again someday.
Tolgarov |
It's a very good scenario. My Asmodeus' cleric had a blast playing it. Having played Siege of the Diamond City is a bonus to enjoy it :)
@DM Kludde : hope to play with you again. With Tolgarov or one of my other character :)
Grim Dougal |
...and with that, the budding 'bromance' of Grim and Tolgarov draws to a close.
DM Kludde |
1. Shifty (lvl 6)
2. Cedric (lvl 4 or 7)
3. Shel (lvl 4)
4. Merck (perhaps) (lvl 4 or 7 or the level of an available character?)
5. Rhydderch (lvl 3 or 6)
So the low-level side would be (6+4+4+4+3)/5 = 4.4, just enough to keep in lower tier. Every level anyone gains adds 0.2, so a single level would already push you into the 'middle' tier (which is high-level encounters adjusted to a party of four).
On the high end, we'd have (6+7+4+7+6)/5 = 6.0, which is full-force high tier.
So, it's whatever you prefer. I personally think it's most fun if the spread in levels is not too high, so everyone can contribute in a meaningful way.
Pity, nobody got a boon :( [but we get to roll again next time]
I'll report the scenario, and then open a thread for the next one!
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
I'm fine at either tier, DM. Whatever the rest prefers is fine for me.
DM Kludde |
I've put up a new campaign for the Traitor's Lodge: please find it here. I'll gracefully inactivate the current campaign once everyone has dotted in.
