The anticipation is killer. What does the 5 mean?!?
Running messages for us Swabs.
What it looks like for Swabs from past rolls is:
1 - Bilge Work
2 - Pest Patrol
3 - Deck Scrubber
4 - Keeper of the Ropes
5 - Message Runner
6 - Repairman
Yeah, sorry for the delay guys. Work slammed me this morning and I've been feeling a little bleh today as well. The combo slowed me up a bit.
Hope you feel better soon. I've got a late night hours for a day or three so I won't be posting as early in the morning so I won't be posting as early but I'll try to keep up with my usual IC banter (Sorry folks) :)
......
I know Xanxan has no performance skill, but I figure some gnomes don't care how good they sound when they're reciting poetry. Got to keep fighting the bleaching after all ;)

Oh wow. 60 feet of climbing... That's like 12 rolls if they are all successful. Does the work dilligently bonus work on the climbing rolls?
EDIT: And is it a DC 20 reflex to catch oneself in a fall? Or is it some other form of climb check? I know I saw it somewhere before but can't find it.

Should be only 8 rolls if all are 15 or over unless you only move 20 ft instead of 30 ft. 1/4 movement speed unless taking a -5 penalty to move 1/2 speed. A roll failed by 5 or more means a fall, 4 or less just no upward movement.
Wow. Xanxan discovered two previously unknown officers, last night. So, by my count (unless there are also crew members we don't know) the ratio of officers to crew (if you count Fishguts and Grok as officers) is 9:17.

Hmmm. I figured there were no half-squares so 1/4 of 30=7.5 gets rounded down to 5 and so requires the 12 rolls. Definitely wouldn't have fallen with the 8 rolls.
Well, don't forget... one of the reasons the title is "First" mate is because there are other officers less favored than him but without specific functions. There's also a second and third mate if your ship gets big enough IIRC
As far as climbing stuff, Callum you are partially correct. The movement is quarter speed at DC 15, 1/2 speed at DC 20. But you're thinking too much minis based. 7.5 doesn't round down to 5 it rounds down to 7.5 lol. If it was normal movement for combat you'd have to worry about it but climbing, just take the actual math, so 7.5.
As far as the officer to crew ratio, you guys are assuming you've met the entire crew. ;-) The list in the campaign tab is just the ones you've learned to identify by name/sight. There are still a number of people you don't know better than "Hey you."

Yeah, that's what I was wondering about. Do the named NPC's represent sort of VIP's that it's relevant to know? While the remainder are "faceless goon" types?

Ah. Ok. Looks like Callum still would have fallen at 45 rather than 40 and would have made it up the second time without incident. No matter, flavor text still works.

I have names and (albeit brief) descriptions of the entire crew right now. Later in the adventure you might meet some new "faceless goons" crew members but so far, you still have some very much faced goons to interact with if you'd like. I mentioned before that if you didn't specify someone specific to Influence, I would roll randomly. Well you guys have had a list to work off of so there hasn't been need of any random rolls but there are more crew to meet at your leisure.
Do we know how many there are in total? And how many are men or women? It's mostly just so I can adjust my dialogue appropriately. Tully tends to be VERY genteel towards women, even towards very unlikely women (like rough-edged half-orcs). =)

They will never compare to the women of my village...they are all short, round, have smiles like the stars, eyes like gemstones...huge tracts of land...
LOL, I didn't provide any further info on the remaining crew as I want you all to discover it but Ko'ulu I gotta pipe up at that. One of the remaining female crew is Mwangi!
1) I've been lazy about it but I'm finally getting off my ass and doing some helpful non-essential book keeping. Some may notice that Plugg's name is now a link, I have his pic up on google docs so you can all finally see the face of your tormentor. I've begun getting the rest of the photos ready and soon you'll have a much better time visualizing certain things. I will try to maintain this going forward to help better immerse you guys in the game.
2) My sister is coming to visit me starting tonight for the next 8 days or so. That plus the July 4th holiday next week mean that my time on the boards will be sporadic for the next week. I'll still be posting and updating but it won't be my normal insanse barrage of 50 posts like it usually is.
Xanxan, looks like your rope throw will connect with her but I was looking at your sheet to confirm and your numbers don't seem to add up.
Your BAB is +1, Dex bonus +3, yet your attack lines list a +5 bonus. Shouldn't it be +4, where is the other +1 coming from? Also your CMB and CMD would need to be updated as well.
This won't impact your post but it was something that caught my eye.
No worries Callum, I think everyone is kind of expecting this next week to be a little patchy. Everyone check the boards when you can but I'm not expecting everyone to be able to get on all the time.

I admit I'm being lazy and just using HERO LAB. I went with what it said as 'Attack Range'. I think Tully is right and it counted in the gnomish racial for size. Which , admittedly might make no sense in this situation.
What a cliffhanger! Is Rosie going to make it back to the ship? Will Jirobo avoid the treacherous rope-burn? Will Ko'ulu get swept out to sea? Is Callum going to have a sore throat?
Hmmm... I had not pictured Plugg quite so... dashing(??maybe??). Everyone else was pretty much how I imagined. Also, yes. The fight for Sandara may now commence in full. En Guarde!
