Enoby walks into the chamber, unceremoniously stepping over the corpses in her path, and regards the man who surrendered: "A wise choice. Wiser than your elected career of banditry, given you seem unable to defend a fortified position with greater numbers."

There is severe condescension in her tone, and to those in the party familiar with her people it is the most classically "Drow" she has sounded since their meeting.

Kyrie, seeing that Enoby is handling the prisoner with all the graces of the Drow, resumes to her pragmatic nature and begins searching the bodies, piling up the weapons, supplies, and loot in neat piles.

Kyrie: "Kyrie, I am not actually interested in eating a sentient, the thought disgusts me, but don't tell anyone please. With that said, while you are looting them, if you find any berries, jerky, or other treats, I would be most appreciative, unless they are covered in gore and ichor, in which case you can give them to Deko or Fezzik, with my compliments!"

Zinnath:'Wait, you're a dragon and you -don't- want to eat damsels given to you in tribute, or knights foolishly come to loot thy hoard??? I knew that there were dragons, y'know, like -that-, but I never thought I'd actually meet one. Oh my, what will all the other dragons think? How can you be scary without eating people?

Oh my, that...that means that everything I've ever heard is wrong. And here I'd lived my whole life by the verse: "Mess ye not in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with ketchup."

Deeko's +10 to Intimidate trumps Bat's +6 to Diplomacy.

"Crikey, I'd almost think you're a cleric of St. Cuthbert," says the brigand. "Look, me an' the boys just holed up here 'cuz it's a good place to stay out of the rain, and sometimes folks make their way up the road not far from here and there's good huntin', you catch my drift? But this is the end o' them glory days."

The usual penalty for banditry in these parts is death by hanging, so the fellow has little to lose; if you take him back to Hommlet he will likely wind up hanging from the gibbet until dead, dead, dead. Cooperation seems the best chance of getting clemency from you, so he seems eager to do so.

Enoby:
He's not a member of the cult - you've not seen this man before.

Deko was shocked as the little dragon seemed to pee on him as it wriggled out of his grasp. Raising an eyebrow, Deko raised his now-wet hand and gave it a sniff before shrugging and licking the liquid. "Deko had worse."

Mentally, to Zinnath: "This man is not affiliated with the cult, as far as I know: I do not recognize him. That does not necessarily mean he does not have any useful information, however."

Enoby addresses the brigand, maintaining her current imperious tone. "Listen here, cur: fool as you are you must have seen something unusual here. Think long and hard, for if you provide us useful information I will advise the powers in Hommlet to be lenient with your sorry carcass"

This is a lie. Not that Enoby wouldn't bargain for his life with information provided, she simply does not believe anyone in the village would actually listen to her.

"Ummm..." the brigand thinks. "Look, there's all kinds of wildlife living here. The swamps are full of frogs and lizards and everything. But sometimes we heard weird, loud noises. I think there might be bigger things down there... worse things. Why risk my neck?"

"Listen," he says slyly, "Me an' the boys hit a pretty haul from some of the... some of the things we found. Well, the boys won't need any of it now, right? C'mon, I'll tell you where it is, and that's cooperating, right?"

Bataleigha thinks a while before coming to a decision, in part to give the group time to mentally communicate through Zinnath.

[Mentally] I don't trust this fellow. But if we give him the opportunity to lead us to his stash, that might prove whether or not we can trust his words going forward. Perhaps we can return the stuff to its owners; if not, we can always use it to better our equipment and stimulate the local economy. If he leads us into a trap or ambush, if we're on our toes, we could destroy even more of the evil lurking in these parts. I say we give him a chance but be ready for treachery.

"You don't even have to go far! It's under that pile of rubble-" he points toward part of the collapsed wall.

"-you can just dig it up. There's a lot of rocks, it may take you a little while, but it's not trapped or anything, I swear."

With some care you find that the brigand has not led you astray - though it does take about half an hour of moving rocks and digging to find the heavy wooden chest that the brigands had buried. You give it your best searches and spells and determine that it is not locked or trapped; the chest opens with some resistance, but it is, as described, filled with the brigands' ill-gotten loot.

Passing over all the usual "we look for traps, we cast detect magic" etc. because it's not trapped or locked and you will eventually get it without incident.

Counting it out, you find inside the chest:
2,000 copper (not sure how they get these even numbers, but they do)
Two bolts of fine cloth, dyed well and with a strong thread, quite valuable
A crystal flagon and four goblets
An inlaid wooden box with ivory handles and decorations
Four arrows (detect as magical)

In addition, the brigands themselves had various amounts of coin on their person:
Silver pieces: 27d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 6, 3, 1, 1, 2, 2, 5, 5, 4, 6, 2, 6, 6, 3, 5, 3, 2, 3, 6, 1, 1, 3, 1, 4) = 92
Electrum pieces: 3d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 1) = 7
Gold pieces: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Citrine gems: 1d2 ⇒ 2
One gold chain

Anyone trained in Appraise?

Female Human Cleric 3 (Pelor) | hp 24/24 | AC 20, t 12, ff 18 | Fort +5, Ref +4, Will +6 | Init +2 | Perc +2 | Channel Pos. 5/7 | Touch of Glory 5/5 | PoP 1/1

Apparently, Appraise is one of Bat's Background Skills.

After finding the treasure chest, Bat gives the surviving brigand a grim nod. Then she takes a closer look at the items.

Appraise (Bolts of Cloth): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Appraise )Crystal Drinkware): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Appraise (Inlaid Wooden Box): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Appraise (Gold Chain): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Bataleigha would be OK with giving the brigand a share if he promises to use it to go straight and make an honest living for himself.

@GM: No electrum in Pathfinder. IIRC, electrum coins are generally worth 1/2 a gp, correct?

Campaign maps: Jade Regent | Kingmaker | The Temple of Elemental Evil

There are electrum coins in Greyhawk, which is where we are, and they are valued at 1/2 of a gold piece!

Appraisal of the bolts of cloth comes in at 60 gp each (trade goods), the drinkware at 80 for the whole set, the box no idea, and the chain at 200 gp (jewelry).

Picking up the chain, Deko watched as it glittered in the streams of sunlight through the broken building. He was almost entranced at the sight, enough to unconsciously walk into a wall. Wooden box with ivory handles values at 45 gp (trade good/jewelry).

After stowing the goods, the team clambers back down the stairs to the area with the jail cell and the zombies and green slime. No new hazards have taken their places, leaving you with just a few possible sets of doors to examine (remember, the ones on the left are to the east, and right is west).

Your search of the torture chamber turns up old rusty implements that haven't been used in a long time, as well as a few that look like they've been cleaned and used recently. You also notice that a couple of the skeletons on the racks seem to be a bit "fresh" - the bones are not brittle and brown with age.

There are, however, no other obvious traps or secrets in that room.

Returning to the rest of the party, she informs them of her findings. "I saw nothing unusual about the room, save it's function as a torture chamber. One detail of note, however, were the remains. Most were dry, ancient skeletons but a small number were much more recent - It appeared the muscle and flesh had been cut from them somewhat recently."
