Tales are told throughout Golarion of shadowy figures that lurk in dark corners—stories recounted at children’s bedsides feature bestial creatures that come out only when the moon is right, and fireside legends speak of otherworldly beings beyond reckoning, whose very existence is more than the human mind can bear to know. These are the legends that explain where the blood of the family cow went, and why clerics spend so much time ensuring the proper Pharasmin rites are observed at gravesites throughout the Inner Sea. One can write them off as simple, scary stories in Absalom or Westcrown, but in Ustalav, everyone knows the truth of the things that go bump in the night.
In the Carrion Crown Adventure Path, the horrors of the night become undeniably real as the PCs undertake a journey that will decide the future of a nation.

It's autumn (just missed Halloween) and time for me to run my first AP.

Expectations
-Committed players who can post once a day.
-Adults who aren't squeamish about mature content (foul language, gore, sexual themes etc). Nothing that will get the thread locked, but I like it gritty.
-If you don't post for a week without an explanation first, I reserve the right to remove you from the game. If you don't post for an extended period (48+ hours) in combat, expect to be warned then quickly DMPCed.
-No PVP or antagonizing other players. If your character has a problem with another character you are expected to resolve it peacefully in-character. Even if that means agreeing to disagree and allowing the other party members to make a decision.
-I try to run all rules as written, unless otherwise stated before hand. If I mess up, tell me and I'll fix it. If you mess up, be willing to accept correction.
-Optimized, or at least streamlined, characters. If you hate "roll playing" and think having a strong character is stupid then this is not the game for you. That being said, I also expect role-players.
-You have read the Carrion Crown Player's Guide and are at least somewhat knowledgeable about Golarion.

Game Style
-Maps for combat
-I roll initiative for everyone, enemies of the same type all act together. Combat is run in chunks. Ie all players before monster A and monster A (update), then all players after A but before B and B (update), then any left over players (update).
-I will try to remember to prompt you for knowledge rolls, and may sometimes roll skills for you when it would benefit you.

House Rules
Commonplace Guns: While still expensive and tricky to wield, early firearms are readily available. Instead of requiring the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat, all firearms are martial weapons. Early firearms and their ammunition cost 25% of the amounts listed in this book, but advanced firearms and their ammunition are still rare and cost the full price to purchase or craft.

Ability Scores: 20 point buy

Alignment:Non-evil

Races: Anything listed here. The weirder it is, the better your story should be. I hate Tengu, and think a couple of the other ones are cheesy. (Just fair warning) Alternate racial traits and heritages are fine. No Fiendish Heritage, you can be a Demon-Spawn or Asura-Spawn or whatever without the feat, no abilities of the d100 table.

Classes: Anything Paizo, all archetypes available

HP:Max at first, then 1/2+1

Traits: 2 traits, one must be a campaign trait.

Starting Gold:300

No third party anything!

To apply you need a completed alias, including complete statistical crunch, a 3-5 paragraph backstory (the more linked in with the campaign the better), one paragraph of appearance description and one paragraph about their personality. I am recruiting four players, plus one that I already have (playing a male human Witch of undetermined archetype). So the total party will be five. I'm looking for good writing and characters that will mesh well together. Numerous grammar and spelling mistakes will disqualify you. People who have a 500+ post count on the boards will receive first consideration. Recruitment will be open for three days (until Sunday morning November 4 EST) or until there are 15 complete applicants.

I'm in for this one. I have two characters is you allow multiple submissions. Janos is my primary and from previous failed PbP. He's a Ranger of the swamps with a sad past and a Witch mentor.

The second is Malek Widmara, who has a slightly different (read: antagonistic) view on the Professor. He needs his campaign trait updated to either Chance Savior or Subject of Study.

More humility, slightly less bawdy, not nearly as much of a glory-hound, more overt in her faith, the obvious difficulties of growing up Changeling, those are the major differences.

Janos will be my submission then. Spirit Ranger just seems to be fun for this AP.

What I'm thinking at present is a Half-Orc Alchemist (Vivisectionist) that will multi-class into Barbarian. Reasonably bestial in appearance, but when he takes his mutagen and/or rages his human traits become dominant... sort of a Dr Hyde and Mr Jekyll situation.

No problems DM Jelani - I actually like drawing a list together before I put in my own two cents... and I've got a bit of free time.

Hm... Optimized characters, you say? Challenge Accepted! I submit a dwarf monk, Korinil Ironfist! This is the Pathfinder re-creation of one of my most successful characters of all time, believe it or not.

A couple notes on this guy: firstly, I took the Vow of Truth. Seems interesting RP-wise, not a hefty price, and makes sense for him.

Secondly, I ended up with 450 gp to spend, due to the baseline gp of 300 and the +150 from the campaign trait that best worked for me. Oi... Spent most of it on a masterwork weapon. If you'd rather I not have that, I can remove it. Also got tattoos, since I didn't know what else to buy, and I thought it'd be weird to have a monk walking around with a ton of cash.

Thirdly, he has the Hungry Ghost Monk and Qinggong Monk archetypes right now, and I'm not TOTALLY certain they go together. I picked up Hungry Ghost because I wanted him to be very combat-oriented, but Qinggong seemed very interesting as well--I've looked at it before, and I like the idea of running a more mystical monk. It's my understanding that you can pick and choose which of the optional monk abilities to give up with to gain the Qinggong's ki powers, so I think they could go together if the abilities the monk loses for the Hungry Ghost just do that, and I can only pick from the others. Do you understand what I'm saying? If you don't like it, don't know what I mean, or anything else, I'm fine to drop one or the other--just let me know.

Anyway, this guy's mainly a frontline/mobile combatant who can also do some scouting. If/once he picks up ki powers, he'll be even more versatile in combat. Right now, if he has a real weakness, it's probably the fact that I didn't grab him a ranged weapon. I can do that, if you like.

Oh! A quick note about Dantrian's campaign trait. The trait specifically calls out a "non-humanoid creature type" to be selected. Shapechanger really fits his backstory though. In the previous campaign, it was house-ruled as allowed, but if you want to stick strictly with the Rules As Written in this regard (as you mentioned in your first post), I'll happily switch it over to aberration.
(shapechanger really is an excellent fit though) =)

If your character hasn't met my expectations and requirements in the original post, it was left off the list on purpose. Judgement will be 1/3 crunch, 1/3 story and 1/3 my gut reaction to your character. I saw several characters who looked promising but didn't follow instructions, or who aren't yet complete. Submitting an incomplete or non-compliant character is a waste of your time, as they won't be considered until they are finished.

Um, wouldn't a Paladin be more in the Martial category than Skills? Particularly as I only have three skill points per level.

(Low Con, low Str, only one feat and it's EWP) Note that being considered "skills-based" is not a bad thing. That's just how I see the character. Putting the majority of your resources into Cha means she's an good diplomat and will be a decent off-healer, but will be no where near as tough or damaging as a Fighter/Ranger/Barbarian or Str based Paladin.

I use Herolab to create my PCs so his crunch is fully made up and his background, personality and physical appearance will be completed today. I wanted to submit him as soon as possible to ensure I didn't miss the deadline.

As for myself, I am a very experienced tabletop player and DM and although I only have a couple if hundred posts here they have all been in the last two months or so, I am at worst a regular poster and at best prolific (depending on perspective!)

I'd love to take a shot at a play by post, but seeing as I am horribly newb to this whole interface, I may just lurk. I don't even know where to begin to submit a character.

I am a PbP noob, but, I will say I've sat through and read several (mostly kingmaker campaigns as I am DMing it myself) games of others.
