B'yelka Morfaine |
Trolls? I suppose it makes sense with trollhounds... B'yelka's musing is interrupted by Tibi's sudden introduction to the troll's crossbow bolt. "Tibi! Get out of there!"
The Diva reaches back to Anton and sings the buzzing tune granting the archer Blur. She then begins truly singing, encouraging her boys to finish the fight quickly.
Jelani, perfect, thank you :)
5' Step to BC38; Standard Action-Cast Blur on Anton and Movement Action-Begin Bardic Performance: Inspire Courage. +2 Competence Bonus to Hit and Damage, +2 Morale Bonus to saves against Fear. For Anton, a 20% Miss Chance. I picked you because I think you will be hitting the hardest, fastest.
Tibideau Maroon LeClerc |
Tibideau feels the crossbow bolt strike his shoulder before he even sees the trolls appear on the battlements. He barely has time to realize what has happened when the boulder connects with his leg. Lately, however, he feels a bit more used to getting hurt and shrugs off the excruciating pain as best he can. "Oh, SURE, pick on the flying fairy," he snarls.
The witch swoops down past the owner of the crossbow and, wincing, wishes him a very peaceful naptime.
Cast Slumber Hex on the crossbow-wielding troll, then move down next to Drosil and the door, attempting to stay out of sight of our new troll friends. DC 20 Will Save, please.
Dantrian Almaeus |
With a disapproving frown, Dantrian tries to hurl the struggling hound over the side of the cliff before turning his gaze to the trolls in the sentry towers.

Two of the trolls will be able to lean out and hit anyone in front of the building without them getting cover. The troll in the NE tower won't be able to see people directly in front of the building though.
As for the front gate:The strong wooden gate is bound with iron and barred from within (hardness 5, hp 20, Break DC 30). Disable device won't help you here.
Tibideau Maroon LeClerc |
I don't know what our plan is, but one option is that B'yelka could make Tibideau invisible and he could start summoning more critters to fight the trolls. Assuming they don't decide to kill him next round :)

B'yelka Morfaine |
Everyone needs to shift to the front of the guardhouse to remove the third shooter from LOS. Once there, B'yelka can cast Invisibility on Tibi, and then he can follow his plan of summoning monsters onto the trolls. A swarm of Striges can be dangerous, do you agree? At the very least distracting :). Pluss, being flyers, they can easily move to the next victim if we put the first one down. Hoping/assuming Drosil can get the door (if he can't we should invest in some Det Cord!) then we can get inside, and use hallways to control the fight. Unless they have murder holes... and then, Dros gets an Invis to find our path into the Schloss ;)
Drosil the Grey |
Drosil, frustrated, slams his hand against the door. "I can't open it - it's barred from the inside. We'll have to break it down, and my daggers aren't going to do it."
DM Jelani |
Round 3
The larger troll fits another bolt into his crossbow, and begins cranking the winch to pull back the string. In a few seconds it clicks into place, and the troll raises the weapon, taking aim again.
Drosil, seeing that Dantrian has things in hand (literally) with the remaining trollhound, moves to the doors and checks them.

The witch swoops down past the owner of the crossbow and, wincing, wishes him a very peaceful naptime. The trolls' leader resists the impulse to sleep, while laughing at the witch.
With a disapproving frown, Dantrian tries to hurl the struggling hound over the side of the cliff before turning his gaze to the trolls in the sentry towers. The trollhound bounces its way down the cliff face before splashing into the water and sinking out of sight.
Janos leaps to his feet, freed of the trollhounds, and he rushes to the gate. "Come on! Take cover against the wall." He tries to open the door.
Seeing the missiles rain down on Tibideau, Anton switches attention to the monster with the crossbow. "I hate trolls! Begone with you, creature!" Only one of Anton's shots hits the troll, but it burrows deeply into the creature's corpulent body.
Drosil, frustrated, slams his hand against the door. "I can't open it - it's barred from the inside. We'll have to break it down, and my daggers aren't going to do it."
One of the trolls leans over the battlements long enough to fling another boulder at Tibideau. The rock hits the witches' shoulder hard, breaking something. The troll laughs annoyingly when he sees Tibi wince in pain. The troll on the other tower squeezes itself back into the stairwell down, and out of sight.
The trollhound at Dantrian's feet shakes and growls as it snaps back awake. It lurches at the alchemist's heel from its prone position. Dantrian's reflexes are swift however, and he jerks his leg out of the way.

The largest troll leans out for another shot at Tibideau, but the angle is awkward and his missile flies past the witch to thud into the ground. It quivers there like a feathered sapling in the wind.
Dantrian whirls and slams his heavy mace down on the head of the trollhound. the blow crushes its skull. "We'll need to burn this thing, or melt it with acid to keep it down," Dantrian notes.

I'll take those previous rolls for damage on the gate, though i forgot B'yelka's +2 to damage for each roll. That should actually be the difference-maker and Janos chops through the door in the full round.

Two of the lesser trolls stand there, vicious claws and tusks ready to rend flesh.

Dantrian, waiting for Janos to finish defeating the door, slides up to just behind Drosil and slips a rounded vial from his vest. His expression remains tight and stoic as he hurls the glass container toward the left troll. The vial shatters on the giant's chest and showers him and his companion with burning liquid.
Drosil leaps through the open door and attempts to move past the trolls. He goes into a somersault and tries to dart through the left hand troll's legs, but the giant darts forward with blinding speed and gores the rogue with his tusks, stopping him in his tracks. The other troll also attempts to bite Drosil, but he misses.
They follow up these attacks of opportunity with a concentrated assault on the reeling fetchling. The troll that just bit him, bites down again, it's dagger like tusks rending flesh. Then it grabs Drosil in both hands and digs its four-inch claws into his torso, before ripping both hands outward full of bloody gobbets of grey flesh. Then the other troll rips one of Drosil's legs off with his teeth, and tears out what remains of his innards with a swipe of its claws. Drosil is dead...very dead.

B'yelka Morfaine |
At first fascinated by Drosil's grisly end, the fact that one of her friends was literally torn to pieces in front of her sinks in... NO!!! The scream ends her song, but not her voice. In Azlanti she gives her rage voice-the words a violent promise of the troll's end. The almost physical force of her temper flares outward and sparks fear into the trolls and flames on their flesh.
Blistering Invective on at least the two trolls that quartered Drosil. I am not sure if ypu will allow it to affect the boss... no line of effect, but he can hear it. DM Jelani |
You can use this skill to cause an opponent to become shaken for a number of rounds. This shaken condition doesn’t stack with other shaken conditions to make an affected creature frightened. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier.
However, that is high enough to demoralize them.
Janos Ardeal |
"DROSIL!" Janos drops his axe and takes a step forward before his battle senses regain controls. He glances back at Anton and Dantrian. "Kill them!" He waits for the inevitable volley of arrows or flasks before stepping forward to deliver a wide cutting strike at both trolls.
