With the day of cleaning, Drosil's Con damage was down to 10. With two days of traveling, and the 9 points healed by Anton, Drosil should be back to normal.

With each passing day, Drosil's condition improves. "Thanks, Anton. Yet again, you have pulled me out of a less-than-favorable position.", he smiles.

It strains the group's skills to follow the old tracks, but they have a general destination and the Demon Wolves didn't take any pains to cover their trail. They make their way east out of the Shudderwood, and into the small hamlet of Morcei. The people there seem quiet and terrified, speaking of a plague of bats on their village. It seems all too typical of Ustalav to find the peasants in such a state, but the Way and Demon Wolves already has a huge lead on the would-be heroes. So the group leaves the peasants to their bats and continues on.

After sleeping in the hamlet, the group continues east the next day, crossing over the river Vhatsuntide on a small, decrepit ferry. Then they follow the Mothburn river east from its source in the Vhatsuntide. The Mothburn leads them ever further east onto the plains of Ardeal. The open grassland is considered the heart of Ustalav and is rather boring to travel across.

Gently rolling fields punctuated every mile or so by small farmsteads and nameless hamlets roll by for the next day and a half. Finally, as the group is approaching the war blasted lands of the Furrows, they come across something of note. The silhouette of a lone farmhouse stands against the stark gray sky. The house leans uneasily, its weathered planks straining to keep the fragile shell of peeling paint and cracked shingles upright. The bodies of four wolf-like humanoids hang from a large tree in the farm's yard.

Wow, that's farther than I thought. Where is Feldgrau? In the Furrows?

Janos spends most of the day tracking the Demon Wolves as they travel. As they approach the farmhouse, he waves them to stop. The Ranger points out the wolf-like humanoids hanging from the tree. "It looks like some of the werewolves ran into trouble. Must be formidable to kill 4 werewolves. We should see if they're Demons Wolves or the Prince's."

The vines wrap around the two warriors' necks with alarming speed, jerking them off their feet. The tree pulls its victims in close, squeezing down hard on their windpipes.

Are you saying, then, that Drosil did little to no damage (e.g., it has AC > 23 and/or DR that soaked up most of his 27 damage per hit)?

In the tangle of getting shoved into the tree's mouth, the Ranger's longsword is caught trapped and he's unable to get any leverage with it. Panicking, he rips the Lopper's axe from his belt and tries to strike and anything and everything around him. He holds the axe far up the haft, allowing him to nearly punch out with the curved axeblade.

Can I still hear B'yelka's song? I'll factor it in and if not, then subtract 2 hit/damage.

With its trunk-belly sliced chopped wide open the tree is unable to swallow any more of the party. So it returns to whipping and choking them instead. It manages to grab all three of he boys by the necks again, twisting down hard on their already bruised throats.

The cold fingers of despair creep up B'yelka's spine and she realizes how useless she is sometimes. No, I can make this work! If it speaks, it is intelligent!

The Diva raises her voice, summoning her presence and power and shouts at the wild thrashing tree. "Drop them and live! Or, kill them and never again feel the kiss of sky and rain! You cannot kill all of us and we surely have the power to kill you!"

Scathing Tirade, with Prima Donna, Will Save DC22 to avoid becoming Frightened. I know, Frightened causes the target to flee, and a tree cannot flee. However, I am hoping it is intelligent and understands that it cannot kill Anton and I, and that letting everyone go is it's only chance for survival...

And Feeling really frustrated that B'yelka's options for doing anything like damage is near zero. But, not complaining; usually the boys roll well above the average of 5 or so they have rolled in this fight and this is how she was built...

The tree tosses Janos's limp form aside, freeing one of its vines. It can sense that it is losing badly, and tried to eliminate as many threats as possible. It drops Drosil and Feral as well, before lashing out at them again. Drosil dodges the first whip crack of vines, but the second catches him across the jaw, dropping him as well. The tree's third set of vines darts towards Feral.

I assume that is enough even if it has DR? If so my next action is going to run over and heal these guys by using two uses of Lay on Hands
