Barring my own dismemberment I will take control next round. Jelani, what specifically can I give Aaron when he gets here? Get to work boys. Is Drosil still Invisible?

You can lend him whatever class feature or feat you want. Drosil fired a crossbow last round, so no, he's not invis.

If Tibi has any summoning spells prepared, the highest level one would probably be the most help to us at present, Jelani. I suggested lantern archons in the discussion thread only because I know their little beams are touch attacks and they bypass DR, so if they're an option I think they'd be an awful welcome one!

He has Summon Monster IV, but he'd have to stop cackling, thus canceling the misfortune on the Promethean and the fortune on you. Also it would take a full round before anything could arrive. He could do 1d3 lantern archons or a celestial tiger.

retired (arc completed)

While fortune isn't helping me any longer that misfortune literally saved my life (12 more damage would have killed me and the claw that missed would've done 13-33). Since summon monster is a full-round cast, I believe he could cackle this round, start the full-round cast with his standard, then finish the spell next turn with a move action, leaving him one move action to keep the misfortune running. As far as what to summon, I think 1d3 (prayin' for 3!) lantern archons might be our ticket.

Edit: after a quick search of the PRD, I don't think this action-break down is in place in Pathfinder. Alas!

Yar. So misfortune or 1d3 archons...hmmm. I personally believe misfortune would be more beneficial to the party.

Female Human (Chelaxian) Bard (Diva) 8 | HP 51 | AC 19 FF 17 T13 | Saves +3/+8/+6 | Init + 8 | Percep +11

Would it? The thing is adding 21 to it's attacks. What's the AC amongst the party now? Rerolling in hopes of getting it to drop a one is not really useful. However, d3 Lanterns dinging it (easily) twice a round for d6 is mo' betta. Also, if the Summons are up and get attacked, it is attacks not aimed at us :) I strongly vote for Summons over cackle.

I agree - Drosil, at least, has a 5% chance of being missed by the thing; he'd be lucky to survive more than a round or two. Also, Drosil adding sneak attack to Aaron isn't going to do any good if there's nothing flanking the Promethean, and I'd prefer the flanker be a summoned creature...

#Anxious

Aight, day off. So, time to kill y'all. Working on an update now.

Round 3

The sound of Dantrian’s bones splintering and flesh rending is sickening – this creature is by far the worst of the horrors they have encountered in their days travelling together.

Anton briefly wonders what mind could conceive to create such a thing, what weak a wounded creature would spawn a terror so foul. But all thoughts other than destroying the thing and saving his friend are pushed to one side as he reaches for more arrows, dropping several from the dizzying height in his haste. "Fight, Dan, make that thing regret it ever laid it’s claws on you!" Anton manages to shoot the golem in weak spots three more times, damaging it a bit further.

Seeing the devestatign effect of the monster's grip, B'yelka chooses the discretion over Valor. She Whistles two notes and fades from view. Her song still hangs on the wind, continuing it's boosting effect.

Dantrian suffers a brutal series of attacks at the Promethan's hands, a number of shattering, crushing blows that should have shorn him two. The alchemist's protections and curse work in tandem though to, impossibly, preserve his life. Despite his protections, the savage assault is enough to render him unconscious and he goes limp in the Promethean's claws before it shifts him over to its tentacled embrace.

Tibideau stops cackling, and begins a long chant to call some aid from the higher planes. "Air support incoming!" he announces between verses.

Janos wills the Beast closer, knowing they may be out of time. "Someone help me! Take control of Aaron!"

Drosil stares in horror as the Promethean does to Dantrian what the trolls did to him earlier.

Another lightning strike flies at Tibideau, but the intrepid witch manages to dodge the bolt and keep up his chant without any major issues.

The Promethean's tentacles begin to crush Dantrian as it climbs up the structure towards the rest of the Six. Its arachnid legs easily propel it up the structure, and once it reaches the platform it extends one claw up and around the edge, trying to grab Anton. The golem snatches the paladin off the ledge like he were a child's toy, and crushing his leg in its pincer thrashes him about in the air over the three hundred and fifty foot drop into the raging falls below.

That crush would reduce Dantrian to -24hp and 25 non-lethal, well past his threshold of -13 based on his Con score, leaving him in a very pulpy, very dead state.

Dantrian's bones shatter beneath the crushing embrace of the Promethean's tentacles, his body twitching and twisting violently.

I'll drop 2 hero points to cheat death!

Cheat Death:

Cheat Death: A character can spend 2 hero points to cheat death. How this plays out is up to the GM, but generally the character is left alive, with negative hit points but stable. For example, a character is about to be slain by a critical hit from an arrow. If the character spends 2 hero points, the GM decides that the arrow pierced the character's holy symbol, reducing the damage enough to prevent him from being killed, and that he made his stabilization roll at the end of his turn. Cheating death is the only way for a character to spend more than 1 hero point in a turn. The character can spend hero points in this way to prevent the death of a familiar, animal companion, eidolon, or special mount, but not another character or NPC.

Yeah, it leaves you at -1 less than would kill you.

This is a horror game! Be horrified! If the BBEGs aren't allowed to kill PCs occasionally, what's the point in even playing? You are actually at risk, despite me being nice and giving away hero points and pulling some minor punches.

Seeing Anton taken by the thing, as well as the state Dantrian is in - Gods...Dantrian... - Drosil focuses his mind on urging the Beast onward. Who will stitch Dantrian up, like he did me?

Standard action: Focus on Aaron

Half-Elf Spirit Ranger 8 (HP 33/68; F+8, R+8, W+4 (+1 vs. Arcane); AC 25/12/23; Perception +18, Sense Motive +2, Initiative +2)

Sensing Drosil has control of Aaron, Janos leaps out of the machine just in time to see the monster grab Anton just like he had taken Dantrian. "No! We need more time!" He draws his sword and stabs at the creature from the platform. "Try me, you bastard!"

Janos will attack from the platform if he can. Do we get +1 for higher ground?

Tibideau finishes his spell, and two glowing golden portals open. Two lantern archons come flying through them, and immediately begin strafing the golem with their light beam attacks.

The lightning arching out of the Storm Caller finally decides to strike someone other than Tibideau. A bolt of silvery electricity arcs towards Drosil, who deftly dodge out of its way.

The golem is now confronted with several more attackers. It first tosses Anton off the side of the tower as if it were an agry child tossing aside a toy it was bored with. Luckily for the paladin, his fall is arrested to a slower rate after a few seconds by B'Yelka's featherfall spell. After tossing the paladin, the Promethean edges away from his overhead attackers, and settles back onto the roof, looking to the annoying archons summoned by Tibideau.

They are fast enough to catch Anton, but only have 1 str. Besides that, they are doing the most damage at this point. Good call on the summoning, I didn't realize how effective they would be in this situation. Plus Aaron's almost here. This will be over fairly soon, certainly before Anton drowns.

Dantrian struggles impotently for a few moments in the Promethean's grasp, just long enough to see Anton thrown off the tower. Rallying, he takes a breath and musters his strength, seemingly ready to burst free from the twisted titan's grip and savage it horribly, but the Promethan's tentacles constrict with a sudden jolt and any strength Dantrian might have summoned evaporates as his ribs crack and an arc of crimson spurts from his mouth. Within an inch of his life once more, he passes out - unaware of B'yelka's magics upon Anton and ignorant of the Beast's imminent arrival.

Janos yells at the retreating monster. "Come back here! Bring my friend back!" He swings himself off the platform and quickly climbs down the ladder, using the enhanced speed from B'yelka's spell. Janos tries to dodge any attacks from the Promethean as he closes with it to strike. One of the Abberant Promethean's pincers lashes out so quickly that it appears to be only a blur, until it snaps shut in Janos's head. The ranger's skull fractures with a wet crunch, and his body spasms as he goes limp.

Anton does not feel fear as he drifts toward the river, just frustration. Already he can barely see what is happening on the tower, just hear the noises of battle and rage and pain - and there is nothing he can do.

The lantern archons take advantage of the Golem's distraction to fire another round of lasers into it.

Okay folks. Tibideau and B'Yelka still have actions. Now you know where things stand before they act. The Promethean has 12 HP left.

B'yelka struggles with the hardest decision of her life. Drosil can bring Aaron! I have to save...who? "Keep Aaron coming!" she shouts to Drosil. She moves around the platform until she is above Which one? Dantrian needs me... and I need... No! I hate him! And Janos, so brave and what about Kendra? She drops over the edge of the platform, still invisible, and she realizes she is crying. Tears, real tears are streaming down her cheeks as she lets go. A surreal moment slides by as she drifts to the roof. The monstrosity of monsters stitched together thrashes and it's misshapen head uttering moans as it tears apart two of her friends. Her mind drifts with her, in a different direction. Dantrian has always been there when I needed him...but Kendra has her Janos, and I promised to bring him home. The Diva lands on the roof and reaches out to touch Janos, giving him some hope for life with Kendra. The glow of healing magic infuses some of the swamp rat's wounds, but B'yelka's attention has drifted again, swimming away to Dantrian in a sea of tears.

Drop the IC, this is round 1 of 2 Lingering Performance. Move action to drop off with Feather Fall and land near Janos to catch him with a Cure Light Wounds. CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Janos should be at +6 HP now, so he will survive if the monster does 16 or less on it's next squeeze. Maybe we can save both of you shaved apes ;) I think I have two level one spells left after this...
