Janos Ardeal |
Yeah, save your scroll for now. Hopefully that decision doesn't bite us later.
Ok, Loot from the cash box:
Out of Date Legal Documents
500gp
4 Potions of Cure Moderate Wounds
3 Potions of Lesser Restoration
2 potions of Remove Disease
Anton Klasnic |
It seems clear our front liners should take the potions. B'yelka, Tibideau and I can heal ourselves to a greater or lesser degree. The restoration potions can be dished out according to who needs them at the time.
Janos Ardeal |
More loot:
Masterwork Thieve's Tools -> Dantrian
Bronze War Medallion (40gp)
Painting of Stavian I (100 gp) -> Tibideau
Silver hair clips (35 gp) -> B'Yelka
Masterwork punching dagger
12 MW shurikens

Criminal Items:
Lopper's Handaxe (+1 handaxe)
Charlatan's Holy Symbols
Splatterman's Spellbook
Mosswater Marauder's smith's hammer (MW Light Mace, +2 to crafting)
Piper's Silver Flute
DM Jelani |
It's a traditional Varisian weapon.
War Razor
To all appearances, a war razor is an oversized razor or flip knife. As the razor folds into the handle, no sheath is required, making the weapon easy to hide.
Description: You gain a +2 bonus on Sleight of Hand checks made to conceal the weapon on your body.
Weapon Feature(s): easily concealed
Light Martial weapon, 1d4 damage 19-20x2 slashing

Oops! I only get 1 new formula, not 2. I'll stick with anticipate peril, no expeditious retreat yet.
Additionally, the only level 1 formula I can learn from Splatterman's spellbook is comprehend languages, which I already have. Furthermore, our witch's dear Bonbon can only learn spells from other familiars or from scrolls, not from spellbooks.

Mercy
Which Mercy do you think I should get guys? I think fatigued or sickened are the best personally at this level.
Janos Ardeal |
I think sickened is better. It's a worse penalty and Nauseated is really bad. That said, both of those usually last for a short duration, while Fatigued and Exhausted last forever.
I would still vote for Sickened though.
Dantrian Almaeus |
Janos makes a really good point regarding the durations. And yes, nauseated is a totally debilitating condition for a PC to get.
However, I think there are alot more fear-inducing spells and abilities in the game than there are sickening/nauseating ones. That could easily be a misconception on my part, but we are exploring the haunted ruin of an infamous prison after all =P
You might also look at whether the group, on average, has better Fortitude Saves or Will Saves. That might help steer your decision as well.
B'yelka Morfaine |
New B'yelka is posted. Added Vanish, a bunch of skills (I will be putting a rank or two into knowledges as we play) and the Lingering Performance Feat.
Next level is Blistering Invective and the "OMG, WTF! That's borkend!" ;)
Janos Ardeal |
Janos is ready to go. I considered something fancy like Favored Defense, Undead, but it lacked much benefit right now. So Cleave got the nod.
Next level spells! I'll have to play up his whispers as a lead in.
Anton Klasnic |
Still unsure on this mercy thing. I think I'm going to go fatigue. At least I can provide a +4 bonus against fear effects anyway ans sickened has a shorter duration. Plus I can sleep in my armor if I spend a LOH the next morning
Janos Ardeal |
I would think the flour would just pass right through it. Invisible creature, flour is a good countermeasure. Incorporeal, not so much. Unless it's magic flour perhaps. +1 Flour if you will.
Janos Ardeal |
Ha, true. I wonder what that would cost?
Edit: Actually...Here
Dantrian Almaeus |
I have to admit, I am really impressed with this poltergeist encounter. I've personally never seen an incorporeal threat thrown up against the PCs at this low a level and I like that we have been entirely stymied by it. The damage (so far at least) has been more a nuissance than a legitimate threat, but that makes this encounter all the more fun for me. It's proving to be more like a puzzle than a fight, which I think is kind of neat.
And mad props go to Tibideau for picking up glitterdust when we leveled. I doubt there could have been a more helpful choice in this predicament!
Escharid Blackrose |
My apologies for popping in without being a "part of the cast", as B"Yelka would say..
I just want to say that I totally enjoy reading your adventure: I love the roleplay and the characters, the way they interact: they are totally believable, and I "feel" the story as I read it.
Congratulations to all of you and keep up the good work!
Escharid Blackrose |
I really got caught up by the story telling, wheter by the GM or the players.
I still cant un-see the pic after Tibi tried to put out the fire in the Town House with his handkerchief...^^
And I still wonder why B'Yelka never thought of this song for the Bonbon-carrying witch..

(yeah, B'yelaka and Tibideau are my -slight- favorites, even if i like each character!)
Btw, I'm just starting to play another Carrion Crown campaign, hope it will be as pleasant to read as yours!
B'yelka Morfaine |
With a grin of pure self-satisfaction, B'yelka says simply, "It is for you, the audience, that we all seek greatness. Thank you so much for your accolades." The diva curtsies deeply for for fan, honoring the praise given to herself and her supporting cast.
Dantrian Almaeus |
@Janos: I'm not bothered by Janos' running around, but Dantrian is kind of an arrogant jerk some of the time and he particularly dislikes brashness or ill-thought plans. Plus, I need to play up his abrasiveness a little more I think. While I don't want him to be unlikable, per se, I do have the long-term aim in mind of his alter-ego being much more friendly and enjoyable to be around. So while Dantrian was dismissive and petulant, it's not because I was miffed. =)
Anton Klasnic |
I'd like Anton to be a bit of a mediator in the group, juggling all the difficult personalities. personalities. Desnans are really easy going and optimistic so he's going to get right in there and try and smooth it out.
B'yelka Morfaine |
From B'yelka's perspective, you put yourself in a dangerous situation. More dangerous than we had already faced. Foolishly. Only morons and peasants (synonymous, really) do dumb things. But, as she is rather self centered she didn't think about Janos being hurt, or in trouble. She felt put out by his obstinance and inconvenienced. When she realized she had put her petty feelings ahead of her friend, and frankly protector, she was ashamed and embarassed. Don;t expect her to apologize or make it up to you, though ;)
Tibideau Maroon LeClerc |
Tibideau basically doesn't care what the others do as long as he and Bonbon aren't in immediate danger. He'd rather joke about it. What can I say, my favorite alignment is True Neutral :)
@Dantrian: I love to read your posts because of the characterization. I totally see "arrogant jerk" and I don't know if you intend this, but I also read Dantrian as a bit... flashy. Like I recall one time when he whipped his hair around to glare at someone. Classic.
@Anton: I read you like a pastor or youth group leader for wayward youth. And we're the wayward youth, lol. You're always making speeches and being helpful!
Janos Ardeal |
Excellent. That's what I figured. Not that I want Janos to piss everyone off, but he isn't used to being with civilized folk. He's the unruly kid who just never learned how to share.
