I was just gone for a week, so perhaps this is hypocritical, but lets see if we can get some momentum to push through this. If you guys can't think of anything to do, retreat and post a single line describing it. That's all I need to keep us moving forward.
I'll give everyone a day or two to post, and then I'll DMPC everyone to move back. Then at least the invisible person will be forced to follow you if they want to continue casting spells on you.

First I'd like to address the arrows vs invisibility issue. I did some poking about, and there are three reasons why arrows don't beat invisibility. Before reading, keep in mind physics and logic have no place in a PFRPG rules disagreement, merely rules as written. The first and most important reason is:
...ammunition that hits its target is destroyed...
Therefore, there is nothing to see or visually track. Once the arrows hit the creature, they do damage and then cease to exist.
The second reason is:
HP is an inherently abstract system. The arrows could just as easily have missed them entirely, but to dodge them used up a chunk of his HP awesome juice. (Same reason the Stormtroopers never hit Luke/Leia/Han, they were hitting their AC sometimes, but they were PCs with a good chunk of HP to chew through before actually hitting them.) Because getting hit directly with an arrow from a war bow anywhere but a limb means you're pretty much dead (sooner or later) without modern medicine or magical healing.
The third and weakest reason is:
If an invisible character picks up a visible object, the object remains visible. An invisible creature can pick up a small visible item and hide it on his person (tucked in a pocket or behind a cloak) and render it effectively invisible. One could coat an invisible object with flour to at least keep track of its position (until the flour falls off or blows away).
As a DM I would rule that an arrow sticking into someone who is flying around and moving constantly, and wearing heavy robes would be virtually impossible to see on a person 10+ meters from you, even if they were visible, much less if anytime part of their body or clothing covered it it became invisible.
Finally, I would say as a general maxim, that PFRPG is a permissive system. When played using RAW, you can only do what the rules you can do, and nothing else. Since it doesn't say anywhere that arrows overcome invisibility, they don't.
I understand a long combat with no way to overcome invisibility is frustrating, but I hope you can understand my reasoning. You may reply to this post of course, but this is my ruling and I would appreciate graceful acceptance. Cheers~

So to be clear, because this combat is going to be a nightmare to run, what exactly are you doing? Just standing there and waiting for someone to attack you? Going for Adimarus? The undead?
I'm gonna have to set up a big combat map, but I'd like to get the first bits out of the way theater of the mind because of the number of creatures and distances involved.
Anton Klasnic |
Moving to cover. That's the number one priority for Anton. After that going to provide fire for the melee guys but smiting Adimarus as well.
If you guys have the possibility to leave open firing lanes for me I would be very grateful and much more effective
Anton Klasnic |
Adimarus is going to be on the end of the same treatment if he doesn't back down :D
I can't really see this going well for us if it turns into a fight as we are fairly low on resources (or at least Anton is) but we will certainly take the main players with is if retreat isn't an option
Janos Ardeal |
I think Janos made it clear he's done his job. He's got a girl to go home to now. But he's not going to abandon everyone. And if it comes to a fight, he wants to rid the world of a few more undead.
But he's not stupid. If killing Adimarus will end things quicker, he's all for it.
Drosil the Grey |
I think we'll need to take care of both groups before we're all done; as much as the demon wolves might be the greater long-term threat, I think we'll need to keep the undead occupied as well. That said, we should probably stick together as a group.
DM Jelani |
Basically, the Prince's wolves are going to attack the Demon Wolves. The Demon Wolves are going to attack you since you're in the way to Sain's heart. The undead are going to attack everyone.
If Feral charges and everyone stays close to him, you're going to end up in the middle in a Prince's Wolves/Undead bread sandwich filled with blood.
If most of you don't give a crap, convincing Feral to let them kill themselves and then mopping up after them, or letting him charge to his doom by himself is probably the wisest tactical option. But Anton puts out so much damage he could prolly end this pretty easily solo. He almost killed Vrood in one turn...would have if he weren't so well buffed.

This is specifically what I want to avoid.

So...let Feral charge in with Anton gunning for Adimarus. The rest of us hold off the undead until Adimarus is dead, hoping that breaks the morale of the Demon wolves. If not, then Anton might need to change to focus to the necromancer and then we just hope to stay alive until we mop the rest up.
Anton Klasnic |
Not necessarily, I guess it depends on their proximity to the tower which we will find out when Jelani updates the map. But yes I take your point, if they are the other side of the field then I agree.

Sorry, everyone. I forgot to mention that I'm traveling in Africa and internet is hit or miss at times. Please bot Janos for the next week. He'll continue to move with the group until the undead are within reach, then he'll movie to attack them.
