Dantrian, how do you put the message board code into your profile without it becoming active? I see you have some saved under "Macros" and I would love to be able to do the same thing. It would have lots of time.
Two things: A) the way the mod is written this encounter is tough to avoid.
B)If you want to know the results of a die roll before submitting your post just hit preview. That way you can react to it appropriately in the same post without having to go back and edit. Mostly helpful in combat when rolling to-hit. If you're sure something's a hit or miss you can describe it better. Also applies to skill checks where I have stated the DC, you'll know whether you made the jump or whatever and can describe it.

...and again with the newb-ness. Sorry for acting out of turn - got a little carried away, and didn't get a chance to delete it until after the hour had passed. If you want me to reroll when it's *really* my turn, I will.
EDIT - Jelani, could you make the town map accessible as well? Thanks.

Don't worry guys, this is only my second pbp (and the first is currently ongoing and just over a week in!) All gms have different styles and preferences so I'm sure we'll all make a few errors along the way :-)
Man, I dunno why I keep forgetting to make the maps visible. Fixed. Also, don't worry about goofing a little. I might seem serious (can't really tell), but this is just a game. It's no big deal, we're here to have fun :)
I had to look it up, so I figured I'd post it here in case anyone else needed to as well.
Unarmed Attacks: provokes an AoO from an armed foe, does not provoke from an unarmed foe; medium size creature base damage is 1d3 (small is 1d2); deals non-lethal damage (-4 to hit if you want to do lethal instead)

Unarmed Attacks: Striking for damage with punches, kicks, and head butts is much like attacking with a melee weapon, except for the following:
Attacks of Opportunity: Attacking unarmed provokes an attack of opportunity from the character you attack, provided she is armed. The attack of opportunity comes before your attack. An unarmed attack does not provoke attacks of opportunity from other foes, nor does it provoke an attack of opportunity from an unarmed foe.
An unarmed character can't take attacks of opportunity (but see “Armed” Unarmed Attacks, below).
“Armed” Unarmed Attacks: Sometimes a character's or creature's unarmed attack counts as an armed attack. A monk, a character with the Improved Unarmed Strike feat, a spellcaster delivering a touch attack spell, and a creature with natural physical weapons all count as being armed (see natural attacks).
Note that being armed counts for both offense and defense (the character can make attacks of opportunity).
Unarmed Strike Damage: An unarmed strike from a Medium character deals 1d3 points of bludgeoning damage (plus your Strength modifier, as normal). A Small character's unarmed strike deals 1d2 points of bludgeoning damage, while a Large character's unarmed strike deals 1d4 points of bludgeoning damage. All damage from unarmed strikes is nonlethal damage. Unarmed strikes count as light weapons (for purposes of two-weapon attack penalties and so on).
Dealing Lethal Damage: You can specify that your unarmed strike will deal lethal damage before you make your attack roll, but you take a –4 penalty on your attack roll. If you have the Improved Unarmed Strike feat, you can deal lethal damage with an unarmed strike without taking a penalty on the attack roll.
Yeah, I wasn't anticipating the cavalary of stirges to show up and chase these guys off. I was gearing up for the Rumble in the Restlands! A Pugilistic Party of Painful Punches and Pokings!
Janos (or anyone else for that matter), if you want similar macros under your profile as what I have, you should be able to copy/paste what I have below. Then, when you copy/paste it from your profile into a post, it should by that point format correctly.
Profile Friendly BBC code for Macros:

Hope that's more helpful than my previous attempt at describing it. =)

You inspired me to find a resemblance of Janos. This works well. Just imagine the half-elf ears (which he hasn't really shown yet, but that may change when Drosil reveals his true self).

Just a reminder, I am traveling and will have limited access to post anything. I get on a plane to Germany tomorrow afternoon and it might be a few days until we get where I can log in! I will do my best and of course, if need be, "NPC" me for a bit to keep the story rolling :)
Jelani, quick question for you regarding Dantrian's Subject of Study trait. Strictly speaking, the trait selections are limited to non-humanoid. Would you be alright if it were switched to humanoid (shapechanger) despite that?
If not, that's totally cool and I'll stick with abberations as my choice (and Dantrian will probably pay more attention to On Verified Madness as a result).

Mulligan? It occurred to me that B'yelka bought a horse, combat trained even. Would it be an issue if I respent that cash on her wardrobe? I gotta keep up with Tibbi!

I have to admit I took a little creative liberty with "cold weather outfit" :) But the purple coat and boots are all the glamorous clothes Tibideau has. He has to rely on his shaving kit to keep up his gorgeousness. I also took some liberty with "shaving kit" and his includes curlers and a nail file. But not those darned tweezers!

I think we need to wait for Kendra to translate the journal. It'll give us a better idea of what the professor was doing. Plus we may have damaged that relationship and I think we'll need it later.
Female Human (Chelaxian) Bard (Diva) 8 | HP 51 | AC 19 FF 17 T13 | Saves +3/+8/+6 | Init + 8 | Percep +11
As far as repairing the relationship maybe B'yelka can go and get Kendra drunk and commiserate about those lousy loutish men ;)
As far as a real plan, grave first, then back to Kendra to check, then the prison. Someone or something is chasing us out. I assume it is because of whatever the professor was working on and that we will most likely pursue his same path unless waved off.
Male Human Witch 7 | HP 44 | AC 14 (18 w/ Mage Armor) FF 12 T 14 | Saves F+3/R+5/W+4 | Init + 5 | Percep +7
So it seems the general consensus is: Someone sweet talks Kendra to keep her on our good side, she looks at the journal while we head to the gravesite, then we return to Kendra, then head to the prison once we know more about the journal. Sound good? Anton what do you say?
