Dhaavan gives Samm a quick look, and then glances about quickly, indicating the rest of the pub. Since they are still using assumed identities Dhaavan says...
Bluff - Secret Message: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
"Horatio is right. Interesting fellow, that one. Met him in passing at Rickety's. Him and his crew took themselves a ship and were in the process of getting it upgraded and re-fitted to better serve their needs. Spoke with him while we were there, and he talked our ears off about Sargava. It is certain that he has more wild stories to tell, only so much time to talk during the few nights we were there, but they had mentioned Blood Cove as a potential port the Dread Lady take to, that's the ship he is serving on, by the way."

The subtle meaning behind Dhaavan's message to Jiro Variel and of course Camm:
WIth emphasis on the words "Met him in passing" DHaavan indicates that Yes they know Flynn and he is on their crew, but clearly there is some reason he is saying they aren't saying so. We can talk, but for the time being pretend that we only know of the Horatio Flynn, having met him and his crew. We can talk about it, but Dhaavan thinks we should keep up the charade.

THose that a secret message is directed at get the message if the sender makes a DC 15 bluff check. Others not intended as recipients know there was a message if they beat my bluff check, and if they beat it by 5, they can understand the message.

Seijiro gives Dhaavan a slight nod to indicate he understands his near slip.

At least I never mentioned actually sailing with Flynn, only that I'd heard Flynn speak of Sargava, at least that's all I recall saying. I hope I didn't say too much.

Rather than speak up and seem too emphatic in supporting Dhaavan's statement, he lets it stand on its own, being enough of a disclaimer as is.

Tomorrow when the Lady puts into port, we will rejoin our crew as different people and this fellow will be none the wiser.

I'd included Camm in the message so we could be candid and still avoid tipping our hand to outsiders

Getting what the other stranger is trying suggest understanding the prudence in the approach Camm says, "There must be two of these Flynn's in the area as the Horatio I am seeking could in no way made such a name for himself, quite the bookworm you see."

On that note, I think we've done what we came to do and if nothing horrible is going to happen in Bloodcove tonight, we can get rooms and fast forward to morning, when the ship puts into port, yes?

Sounds good to me. I just wanted to give you guys the opportunity to meet and get a little info on the lay of the land. We can fast forward. Just let me know what you want to do in the morning. Where are you going? Who are you seeing? What are you trying to sell? etc.

In the morning, I suppose we will appear as ourselves and go down to meet the ship. After informing the other officers of what we learned about the trading houses, as an aside, tell Flynn about the fellow looking for him in town (give description, since he never gave his name)... then Seijiro with Dhaavan will head over to House Umbertine to arrange the sale of 2 points of plunder in the form of arms and armor. If anyone else has any other ideas on how we should handle this, please speak up. Then we need to get back and distribute some wealth to the men so they get their cut and go into town and celebrate - but making sure there is always a watch on board as well... so rotate shore leave shifts? Anyway just my take on things and all open for discussion before we actually commit to taking actions. I assume we would have discussed these things in private the night before after going to our rooms so this would have all been hashed out already ic.

Sounds good to me, Seijiro. As soon as we get the "introduction scene" and description of the details from from the GM - I'll RP it out on my end. As for Camm - it depends on where he went, and so on. If he's with you to come the docks, I'll meet him there. If he's in the tavern, I'll track him down. Whoever tells me first - that's where he'll be, even if I invent it for him ;)

By the way, nice work! :)

Variel listened to Dhaavan slyly indicate that we know less than we actually do. Keeping his mouth shut, Variel let's his eyes flash to Dhaavan and Jiro that he understood. As far as he was concerned the night was a success. The information gleaned, the contacts made. All that was left was to pass the night in peace and wake up in the morning when the ship came in.

Variel reflected on the man that they met at the bar. It sounded like this fellow knew Flynn from some distant past. How or why this happened he didn't know but was interested in finding out. It would take some time to get the whole story, but hopefully this fellow would give him the short version. Perhaps it would have some insight as to why Flynn acted the way he did and why they were at odds.

Sounds good so far. Dhaavan and Jiro sell plunder and the harpoon. Variel will work on finding more crew. Flynn finds Camm. Rain I guess is free to help out where ever. If you want to join me in recruiting would gladly take the help.

Human - (Status: normal) Varisian Sorcerer 5 (HP: 56/56, AC:21(14/19[+2]) /F:8,R:8,W:9 / MP: 5/5 / Init. +2 / Perc. +5/6(3))(Jack's Perc: +13/+15)

Just going to toss up Dhaavan's day actions real quick for the next day. Ret-conning the in-between social.

"I did say he would yarn a tale, as it were. Good night, master Skylord," DHaavan says, giving Camm a bow as he takes his leave.

The next day, after having rejoined the crew, Dhaavan works at selling off the arms and armor and the harpoon and other magical gear.

Selling Plunder:
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
after sending out a messenger, Dhaavan goes to the agents of the House Umbertine to allow them to inspect the arms and armors. Dhaavan speaks with them and negotiates terms of a sale not making promises, but discussing hypotheticals. He extends the discussion until the point that his messenger returns with a representative of House Cartahegn, with ther interest in Mwangi trade.

Dhaavan leverages the fact that a new up-and-coming House is looking to buy this shipment as well, letting either the Carthegns make a play to beat out Umbertine on the sale, or the primary sellers of arms and armor assert their dominance and beat out the Cartahegn house.

Selling harpoon and magic gear:
Diplomacy - Haggling: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Dhaavan also discusses the value oand history of the Vindictive harpoon, playing up the value of the item, and possibility of competition and value of being the one to make such a bug buy. He is subtle, and with sly with his words, allowing whomever he is speakign wiht to make thee conclusions without coming out and saying it, using every skill he learned over his years of growing up in traveling caravans wiht truly silver-tongued merchants.

Seijiro seems impressed with Dhaavan's silver tongue, even if the merchant houses are not. Still, he mostly keeps his mouth shut for fear of making things worse instead of better. He does listen and learn though for the future.

He is back in his usual human form again, looking like himself - a red-haired Minkaian

When the goods are sold and all is secure, he heads back to the ship. There is distribution to be done to the crew and Dhaavan (or Variel) needs to assign shore leave schedules.

Horatio will come forward from his quarters in the morning.

Gone is the worn frock coat he had normally worn. Instead – his chest is covered by enchanted armor, which glitters like ice in the cool dawn sun.

His pistols are in his belt; his sword at his side; his daggers are on him, as his whip.

Over all of this is a new item of interest. It looks like a large silk over-mantle; reinforced with some heavy cloth beneath and which has replaced his old jacket. The silk is scarlet – the same color of their flag; and on its back is the bold symbol of their heraldry; well stitched and bold in striking contrast. Black cuffs and black hem on the silk add a sense of style and panache to the garment.

His long mane of dark hair is loose about his shoulders, and his eyes take in the town intently.

Hearing of the plans to recruit new folk, he nods.

”Excellent – a fine idea. I shall come with you. Let us see what this town has to offer us in the way of new help,” he says as he follows Rain and Variel into the town looking for new recruits.

Alright Cam – I’ll trust you to hop on when you see us. If the scarlet silken ceremonial armor with the big black pirate symbol on the back doesn’t identify us – no doubt my smile will :)

Rain had not slept easy during the course of the night. In the morning, she rose early, washed her face, brushed her long unruly hair and changed into fresh clothes to meet the others in Bloodcove. She donned on her studded leather armor, eaten a quick meal to break her fast and made her way to the wheel of the Lady.

Giving the order, the anchor was raised and they sailed the short distance into the bay and docked the ship, paying the necessary levy to a representative of the harbourmaster's. There they waited on the three others to return and share their news.

****

When Variel asked her to join him in recruiting additional crew, Rain nods her head in the affirmative and prepares to follow Variel since he was now better accustomed with the lay of the town. "Where to first, Nikerym?"

Then she hears Flynn come forward and offer to join them in the recruitment. After last night's conversation she was not sure what mood he would be in, even though he was well dressed for the part in his new finery and colours. Her nerves were slightly on edge, which did not always bode well when Flynn and she were in close proximity. She hoped Flynn would be on his best behaviour today for all their sakes. "Looking good, doctor." Rain's words were sincere enough.

She turns back and acknowledges she has heard Flynn say he was coming along. Rain has her boarding pike strapped to her back (leaving the trident secured in the storage closet near the officers' quarters) and her cutlass and cat-o'nine at her hips. The small switch blade is tucked inside her boot. Her hair is pulled back, tied neatly with a blue kerchief accentuating her hair colour and turquoise eyes.

Holding up the long sleeve of the silken jacket, he lets the rippled feeling of the silk drape about his arm easily.

”Aye,” he adds thankfully to Rain.

”Much appreciate it! It ain’t a tattoo – but it does shout our colors proper,” he adds with a careless smile, his hand propped easily on his pistol butt as he walks along with them.

Turning to Variel, he speaks easily.

”Heard you may have met an old mate of mine. Sounds like a good place to start for rustling up new crew,” he adds with a breezy voice, his eyes darting intently around him at the crowds, watching their movement.

"I may seek silk of my own to purchase while in town; I would have a shirt made and a kerchief of a colour to match the sails and heraldry of the Lady."

gah, for some reason the board wasn't showing new posts for me, so I thought no one was posting.

Once the selling of goods is complete, Seijiro will join the others in town on the quest to find more crew to complete their company. He is more than curious about Flynn's friend who wouldn't give his name. Still, he is but one man and the Dread Lady needed more additional crew than that.

He keeps his eyes and ears open for men seeking new berths, and listens carefully to their tales, to gauge which among them might be reliable and good workers.

From behind them Rain and Flynn hear peculiar klip-klop of only a single of hooves and a massive screech. While some people run in terror others cheer and shout. "My dear lady, why would I ever care to know anything about a ship other than how to scuttle them after I have relieved them of their cargos?" Looking to Flynn he says, "Could you choose a worst place to make me come save you from??? You sure do know to pick a swell place to hang about, kid. You know how much Cyclone loves eating trash." At this Cyclone squawks what sounds like annoyance. Patting the hippogriff's neck he says,"Don't be so sensitive." Looking back to the others he continues,"So what are you doing here? I here you've made a bit of name for yourself in these parts. Is this true?"

Cyclone's front end is that of a osprey and the rear is that of a coal black charger. His intelligence is obviously above that of most animals and on par with lesser humaniods by the way he interacts with Camm. The relationship they share is one of close friends, not master and mount.

”Camm you miserable fornicating sod! Gods damn, but it’s good to see you,” Horatio responds, his eyes widening in pleasure and swapping obscenities with the man in front of him in a mirthful enthusiasm.

”What am I doing here? Hell - that's easy enough! Just stopping in for some parts and repairs before hit the waves again. How about you? What brings you to this pisser of a town?” he continues happily.

”Cyclone – you still hanging out with this loser?” he says to the hippogriff with a grin, and fishes some jerky out of his pouch and tosses it to the beautiful creature.

”But what the hell are you up to? Seen any action lately?”

His voice lowers a bit.

”I hear tell they got some Imperial shipping out there from Cheliax – maybe worth a glance, eh? See if we could hit a frigate or maybe a cruiser or two... Hell, maybe even sink an Imp destroyer or something like that? Just like old times,” he adds with a grin.

”Now, more than that – well, when we get a chance to talk private-like, I’ll tell you more of what’s going on. But not on the streets, eh? Too many ears,” he adds with a wink, even as his eyes dart over the crowd a bit more cautiously than his tone suggests.

He gestures at the others briefly.

”I reckon you met Nighstorm earlier,” he adds with a blunt jerk of his thumb toward Variel.

”And that tall drink of water is Rain,” he says, inclining his head towards the pilot.

”We all sail together on a ship – looking for a few good lads, You interested in hopping along for a bit? We got room aboard, and if not – hell, we’ll find you a space even if we have to make one.”

Not sure if Seijiro is formally here or not during this conversation – but if so, I would have introduced him, just in case Camm hadn’t met. Also – if he is here, I don’t know where Dhaavan is – but I’d mix him in, too – depending on where he happened to be.

”Oh yeah,” he says, suddenly remembering Rain’s question about credentials.

”They want to know if you’re worth having along – but I figure I’d leave that bit of bragging you to you personally,” he says with a smile.

Well, good times. Here’s hoping Dhaavan’s Natural 20’s scored us some extra loot via plunder. That said – I’ll you all later tonight!

If Seijiro is there when you meet Camm, Camm has never seen him before, so introductions would be in order - Camm only met Samm, a blond westerner with lots of facial hair last night, a good bit taller than Seijiro, though dressed similarly, it's all kind of non-descript sailor's clothes.

Knowledge, Nature: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

The sound of hooves and the appearance of the Skylord upon his hippogriff took Rain by surprise. She had expected to cross paths with the man in town since that is what Flynn mentioned last evening. She had heard of hippogriffs before, learned about them but never seen one up close. Cyclone, a most unusual name but a creature who can take to the air deserves a strong name.

Flynn had called the Skylord "Camm". She studies the mount, not in a threatening manner but in an intrigued fashion. Slowly she approaches Cyclone with hand extended up so he could learn her scent and know she meant him no harm.

Wild Empathy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

She waits to see how Cyclone will respond to her presence and proximity as she smiles and softly coos to the hippogriff.

After a short while, Rain hears Flynn's introduce her to Camm. He had a similar bravado to Flynn's. "Well met, sir. And to answer your question, if one is to scuttle effectively, one must know how a ship moves and operates, one would think." She bows her head, smiles, her turquoise eyes flashing but mysterious in their meaning.

"Flynn! Who's your friend here?" Dhaavan asks having appeared from literally nowhere among the officers! he was invisible Looking at Camm, Dhaavan introduces himself. This is not the gruff and bulky dirty-brunette with a sword at his hip that Camm met last night, but rather a mere boy of no more than 17, with Chellish black hair and features wearing a distinctly varisian style. He smiles and winks his sulferous yellow eyes. "Camm, was it? Funny to meet a friend of Flynn's out here! Glad to meet'cha! I'm assuming Seijiro is there by the time this meeting occurs, since there's no reason to think otherwise, and more rp that way.

Seijiro watches the skylord curiously, and his mount even more so.

His name is Camm, eh? I wonder why he wouldn't tell his name last night, though in truth we didn't tell him our real names either.

In his undisguised voice, he greets Camm casually with a friendly smile and a little bow. "Hello Camm. A pleasure to meet you. And Rain here is right about scuttling a ship. You have to know somewhat about them to know how to disable one."

He does frown slightly but keeps his next thought to himself. Flynn is sure fast to offer space for such a creature. I hope he means to give up some of the space he commandeered, as the space that's left is for food, cargo, armory and men, and surely Flynn doesn't need so much room for his crafting. If he wants to bunk with the men as he says, he can do so rather than bunk in his crafting area... let the creature bunk in there. I'm not sure I'd trust it with the food supplies, no matter how intelligent it is, it is still a beast.

He keeps Tomo on a very short leash near the great beast. Tomo isn't happy about being near such a large predator and hangs on the back of Seijiro's head, clinging tightly to his hair, rather than sitting easily on his shoulder as is his usual perch.

Variel is at the docks first thing in the morning to see the Dread Lady pull into the bay. He takes the small boat back to the ship as soon as he can. Once back on board, Variel checks in with Rain and Flynn to see how things went during the night. After getting their reports and listening to their advisement about maintaining a watch on the ship Variel gives orders for shore leave. With twenty crew, each person is given 18 hours of leave at a time and on watch for 6 hours. This should give a watch of 5 on the ship at all times.

Once the business of running the ship is taken care of Variel heads into his room for a minute. Inside, Variel changes into the richer garments he acquired from the island. A quick casting of prestidigitation later and he is clean looking the part of captain of the ship. The cutlass is hanging from one hip and a dagger on the other. He is wearing the hat that Jiro gave him. The magical tricorn he returns to Rain for the time being.

Coming back topside, Variel is ready to head back into town. Seeing Rain and Flynn still there, he invites them to go with him as he goes about inquiring about future crewmen. The first place he goes to is the same tavern that they met the strange unnamed man the night before. Figuring this is as good a place as any. Variel starts trying gain crew.

Clearly not having any luck at this tavern Variel leaves in time to see the stranger approach and start talking to Rain and Flynn. When Flynn introduces him, Variel gives a grand bow. Flynn must be mistaken as I don't think we have ever truly met and been introduced before. Yet what he says is true. I am Variel Nightstorm, captain of The Dread Lady. Pleased to make your acquaintance. So tell me, how do you Flynn and what can you bring to the crew of the Dread Lady. We are always looking for good sailors and crewmen. There was no one noise that seemed to want to join up but you seem interested.

Ah! I did forget that. But I suppose Horatio would have forgotten that too when he saw his friend and was excited to meet him.

But we're in the middle of the street now with people to either scream or cheer for the Hippogriff. And Horatio's unusual introductions may not make too much sense, but - for simplicity - I guess the easiest thing to say is he forgot those details because he was excited to meet his friend and didn't know you were actually in magical disguises; only that you traveled in secrecy. But in any case I guess the question is: what now?

Taking the group individuals that are accompanying his old friend, Camm addresses them all in turn.

"Flynn, you jest. Frigates and cruisers are for rank amateurs, but the destroyers...yes, the destroyers would be a prize. I've just resigned a commission upon the Dirty Maiden. Far too many upstarts and vagabonds among those Free Captains, you know. Sky Lords are beholden only to themselves and I'll not suffer those fools when I am the greatest of the riders of the wind. Nor should I expect Cyclone feels any different." Turning to a serious tone, he leans forward and says,"What manner of coin are speaking? The skills of brought to a ship by having a Sky Warden aboard are considerable."

As he awaits his friend's reply, Camm turns to Rain. "Look Princess, Cyclone and I have scuttled more ships than you have likely seen. We are the most feared beings to prowl these skies and are known on every continent. If you haven't heard of us I would imagine it is due to your limited time in the profession. But, I do see you have a fire in your eyes that should serve you well."

"Seijiro is it? What can you tell me of an aerial approach on a naval target? When you can answer that then I will seek your wisdom."

"I say, Flynn, the only member of your party who shows any sense of propriety here is, Mr. Dhaavan. I can see why the man is first mate."

”But all this talk on scuttling ships – or whatever, we can talk about all that later, eh?”

”Right now we got the goods offloaded – the lads are having a bit of fun with their haul – and we’re looking for mates to join up!”

He glances around at the onlookers who are watching the hippogriff and grins. Sensing that having extra crew members is something they're after, he decides to try his hand at it, too.

Variel stares dumbfounded as it seems that everyone flocks to Rain's call to an open berth on The Dread Lady. Apparently she had the charm to get people's attention and the right words to instill them with a passion to join them. Thinking to himself Next time we are in port, I'll just stay on the ship. Dhaavan and Jiro have the selling down and Rain has the recruitment down. It must be her looks that make it so that every warm bodied male in port wants to join up to be closer to her. Not a bad idea. Might want to keep an eye on them that join up here though and see what their intentions really are. I would hate to have to make someone walk the plank for trying to get fresh with the pilot.

Variel still is waiting for a response from this Camm. Apparently the man does not take well to introductions. Not a good start if he does not even acknowledge the captain of the ship that he may be having a berth on.

"Well met, mate," Dhaavvan says to Camm, "Perhaps yea'd like ta join me in the Tavern for a drink after I complete my dealing for today, and sell off what's in our hold. You'll hear tales of our adventures and see if this is a crew worthy of your talents."

After selling off their Plunder, I beat the DC 30 for max value Dhaavan heads to the tavern with what of his crew is on leave as well as Rain's recruits. Welcoming Camm, Dhaavan tells of their adventures, still leaving out Key details, and embellishing where necessary as to avoid shouting about Stealing Harrigan's property, or robbing the Aspes Consortium.

He tells of the Rahadoumi ship "Valiant woman she was, but no match for us. She was the real fighter there." Dhaavan tells those around him as he describes the Battle.

... and the Isle of the Dead, "And after being beset by those Cancerous dead whores, we make it to the fort. The lesser men tried to kill themselves, but when we started cutting at the bodies for good measure, they turned out Ghouls as well! Smart we didn't give em a chance to surprise us."

He even details some aspects as the fight with Plugg, tactfully leaving out details about Plugg and passing the ship off as simply one they raided. " and that B#$~& Brakenwater Brood or whatever Queen cane following us all that way, casting stones at us and all manner of interfearing till Sejiro here but a Ballista Bolt through her!"

Ending with a carefully cencored version of their latest attack, "And a perfect shot from our Gunner,Flynn, takes out their catapult, and then knowing there was no outrunning us, They tried to fight, also a mistake. Captain strolls over cuttin down their guards, and a single strike Jiiro cuts down their cap'n. No officer ta give orders, and a raging Hellhound o' mine runnin' loose on deck, they fold like cards in seconds!"

"That's what happens when the Black wings o' the [I]Dread Lady[i] decend upon yea'! Swift defeat," the sorcerer laughs, as he finishes his stories, casually playing off his crew's victories, embellishing as to establish such things as a matter of course.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Dhaavan uses the tales as a point of reference and leverage as he too recruits, aiming in particular for the more amicable and well mannered sorts with some kind of hardness. Basically recruits like himself, those who, if not violent themselves are not squeemish, yet care about appearances, get along well with people. Those that will mesh well with the crew but have a viciousness to turn on enemies and threats that wouldn't take issue with his future means of aquiring power.

Horatio stretches out his long legs in front of him; his fingers clutch a cheroot which is smoking languidly. His other hand grips the pewter of a heavy mug.

The billowing scarlet cloth spreads out around his armor – the midnight hue of those same wings Dhaavan had alluded to can be seen stitched boldly on his back as he drains a large mug of rum; wiping his hand across his mouth.

His concern for the slavers in the town – the edginess regarding the Imperial Agents – the tension he felt from the potential repercussions with Apses has all melted away as he enjoys a good drink with an old friend.

”Well; that’s all the news that's fit to tell. So, what do you think? You eager for action with us, or no?” he says, lifting the cheroot to his lips and inhaling deeply, his dark eyes watching Camm from under the tangled locks of his hair.

He exhales a long stream of smoke and turns amicably to Dhaavan and says in a pleasant voice –

In Infernal:

”Watch your words a bit, lad – these walls may have ears, eh?”

Than he turns back to the general group.

”Before we skip town, we’re looking to get some information. We got a target we’re looking on hitting – and we’d like to know more about it. Supposedly this place is some sort of island base – we want to know what’s going on there, and we want to hit it hard.”

”We’ll make it bleed for us, aye – but we need details on it better, I reckon.”

”Why don’t we go take a walk – I want to see if someone I heard of in this berg can give us a straight tip, but I’d rather have a mate with me I can trust rather than walk alone,” he says easily, watching Camm.

”You want to come with me, or wait here?”

While he is speaking mainly to Camm, his invitation is open to anyone at the table who’s interested in coming.

Not sure who is there; but given the earlier Knowledge check on the port, I want to know what’s going on here and I want to talk to someone in particular who I think can give us information. Anyone interested?

Once Horatio finds out who wants to come with him, he’ll settle up with the bartender and head on out.

Horatio looks at the others a bit, his eyes resting on Camm in particular for a moment.

Not sure if the man is more interested in listening to stories from Dhaavan in a cool and comfortable bar – as opposed to wandering the streets for information and possible action, he shrugs.

Neither answer would surprise him. Still, he tries one more time.

”Oye – Camm – you going to stay here and drink, or are you going to give me a hand?”

Despite the fact that Dhaavan did not want to come and instead simply sit there and tell stories; Horatio knows that Dhaavan's actions will benefit them quite a bit in boosting their reputation – which is a good thing.

But with no direct answer he swings himself up from the chair and tosses a few copper pieces on the bar. Pausing at the door – he turns.

”Well, if any of you change your mind I’ll be stopping off to get some lads from the ship to help out. If you want to come along – I’m up for it. The more the merrier.”

”If not – that’s okay, too.”

I’m assuming the time is roughly mid afternoon during summertime. But I don’t know for sure. But I assume I have plenty of daylight as sundown shouldn’t happen until at least 8:30 PM or so.

With no backup at this time he first stops off with where the others are enjoying some drinks. Looking around the general crew he selects: Owlbear, Conchobar, Rosie and Sandara as backup.

Two finesse fighters, a muscle fighter; and a cleric for backup.

From there, he will do what he can to find “Malika Fenn”; a person he recalls to have specific knowledge on both Apses in general, and potential more knowledge about the general area around them; specifically this Tide Water rock; which is theoretically their next stop.

This was in reference to the earlier knowledge check about Blood Cove.

As he gathers his backup, it occurs to Horatio that everyone he is selecting traveled with Harrigan at one time. He wonders if anyone in the crowd has any information about this place they are supposed to be heading to.

He will discretely ask the group he is with – specifically Conchobar the foppish city dweller (who may have had picked up lore at some point) and Sandara, their Pilot’s Mate (if she had experience sailing to be as good as she is; she may have had learned some lore as well).

Once they tell him what they know – he will than proceed to discover the location of this Malika Fenn person.

Okay – not sure how to do that, and I’m going out on a limb here because she was mentioned in the details you gave us. But if we want to know about what the hell Apses is doing, and if we’re actually going after this “rock” place; it seems logical to assume this person may be able to have information which could help us. If I need to make a roll to do that, let me know, and I will.

Also – if I have to make a roll to see what, if anything, our own crew knows – let me know, too. Thanks!

Finally - I don't know where everyone is right now. I'm just guessing based on narrations. If anyone else wants to come with me, though - just let me know.

Thank you, Seijiro. Of course, I already knew about the deck watch and rotations - and the fact that there are six men on the ship currently. I also know about the crew in general, and I know that they are on shore leave - and I also know that they are in town. Of course, I assumed that as there are three taverns that getting them shouldn't be a problem. But I also assumed they would be close together as they're all mates, and probably sharing drinks together.

Hopefully the GM will allow me to take members of the ship with me without having to go through a rather complex and complicated process of individually selecting and locating members of the company in various taverns and locales; and we can simply assume that the crew is gathered together somewhere enjoying drinks. And hopefully going to ask some of the crew for backup as I go meet a woman to talk to her about information to help the company isn't going to be a complicated issue either, with regards to the difficulties of giving up shore leave; and so on and we can move forward quickly.

Personally I'm for moving forward without making a rather easy issue complex if it doesn't need to be.

Now, if I am not allowed to get the people I want - and if no one in the party wants to come with me - and if I cannot get our crew mates to help me; that's bad luck for me. But I am still going to go and try, because I want to move forward.

As an aside - if the people I want were on the ship and I wanted them, Horatio would not be overly concerned about the specifics of "orders".

But in any case, it doesn't matter to me. I am prepared to move forward and gather some information that could help the group. I will do that to the best of my ability. As for how easy that will be, well, as you already pointed out - I guess I'll have to see what happens after I hear from the GM.

Before leaving to visit Ms Fenn, Variel asks Jiro if he would do the honors of again outfitting the ship with supplies for another month. In addition, Be on the look out if you would for a sextant, compass and astrolabe. They might be hard to acquire, but I think we would do well to have such equipment with us on the ship. I am going with Flynn and Rain to visit this woman in hopes that she may have some information on the Rock. If you are busy helping Dhaavan sell the goods that we brought in then this can wait till tomorrow.

Finding a helpful fellow, Variel and Flynn and whomever is joining them soon find themselves at the small building were Ms Fenn resides. Nocking on the door, Variel waits to be told to enter before he just barges in. It wouldn't do to upset and disturb the woman whom they were about to ask for help in regaining them with all the information she could on 'The Rock'.

Upon entering, Variel bows low and greets the woman. Ms Fenn. Your reputation has preceeded you. We have heard of you and have come to inquire about a location that I hope you call inform us on. Actually, I was doing there on the first day, not the second. I wanted to speed things up and figured we could multi-task and do things quickly. I knew Dhaavan was doing infamy on the first day - I knew that you and Rain were recruiting on the first day. We met Camm on the first day. Camm, myself and Dhaavan went to a tavern to have drinks.

By the way - this is the same tavern that Dhaavan was using his skills to gather infamy for us; and I assumed it was the same tavern our crew where hanging out via shore leave, which is why I asked them to help; if Camm or Seijiro weren't up for it, and if you and Rain were able to help the same day you did recruiting, I'm down with it. I didn't know that the GM was designating one entire day for recruitment. I thought you could do both.

Since I wanted to get as much done as possible and multi-task, and since I was unable to do anything the first day except social RP - I would have done it that day. I had nothing else to do that day other than social RP.

That was my intention on going the first day: fast action and multi-tasking. Everybody but myself had something formal to do except for (I thought) Seijiro and Camm. That's why I left during the time that Dhaavan was gathering infamy in the tavern. That is also the same tavern that I thought the crew were hanging out at.

If you wanted to tag along during the first day, that's cool. If you are able to do that and recruit people, that's cool, too. I honestly don't know. But as it was suggested to me before; these things are up to the GM on when/how that can happen.

Okay, firstly, Flynn was with Variel and Rain on the first day recruiting. We were "interviewing" people and signing them up. This started in the morning.

If Flynn wanted to go find Malika Fenn in the afternoon, then there shouldn't be a conflict. He asked Camm (and as yet Camm isn't on the board to confirm if he is indeed accompanying you). And Jiro did not say he was interested. If Flynn wanted Jiro to accompany him and Camm then Flynn should have asked Jiro specifically and not opened it to anyone in the crew. Rain spoke up so Flynn would have another ally with him and Variel volunteered being he is the Captain (both with pretty good diplomacy, I might add).

Is your only qualm the timing of this meeting, Flynn?

Male Human Guns. 1 (Mysterious Stranger), Fighter 1 (Lore Warden), Bard 6 (Archaeologist) - Barbarian 1 (Urban) Mythic (Champion) (AC 20 / HP 82 / F +9, R + 10, W +7 / Ini + 3 / Perc. +16)

Actually - there are two issues. The timing thing, sure. It's a little confusing. But the main issue is the fact that the ret-con is really frustrating.

First, you me and Variel went to recruit. Seijiro went with Dhaavan to aid him in his sales/purchases.

As soon as Camm arrived Dhaavan and Seijiro were there to meet him. I assumed this was because such a process was quick.

Than, we attempted to recruit people in the streets. You did, you rolled well; Variel tried to aid; so did I.

Than we flashed forward to the same day that we were sitting around having drinks at the tavern. By the way - I assumed this was the same tavern all of us were at. Including you and Variel - as well as the crew.

I wanted the game to move forward - last time I suggested staying an extra night to wait until morning, that issue was literally a week in Real Life to decide the party would split up for "safety". Absolutely nothing happened - and I felt terrible for dragging out such a simple issue by suggesting we stay on board and wasting a real life week for absolutely nothing, especially since nothing happened.

So - after Dhaavan and Seijiro sold the gear; and you me and Variel recruited - we all met at the tavern to have drinks in the mid-afternoon and that's when I figured I would go off and find this person and that if anyone wanted to come, they could come.

Here is the issues, though.

After all of that - the postings, the rolls, the social RP - I'm now told that the entire procedure would have taken three days. Recruitment was one day. Infamy/Selling gear was three days - but with multi-tasking.

I know something about how Diplomacy via Gather Information works. Specifically it is something that can be done in a period of hours - not days.

Since the GM is stipulating that recruitment takes a day - and since I spent only a bit "aiding" the check before I left - and since we had several hours until sundown - and since Diplomacy/Gather Information is something that can be done in a few hours - I figured we could just do it that night.

The GM said we couldn't - specifically; recruitment would take all day. I wasn't recruiting all day; I was there to help - but now I'm pretty much confused.

If an Aid Check would have taken all day - that is one thing; but that's not how an Aid Check works, as I understand it. Instead - I had hoped we could recruit AND all go to meet this girl tonight. Than - once we get the information from this chick - we take that information and act on it tomorrow - either buying new things, or going to new sources - and than use the third day for even more details - if needed.

The GM said that recruitment couldn't work that way. It was an all day thing. Aiding isn't all day - so I thought no worries, I'll act now. But than Variel said that he will spend the first day in recruitment.

Since an Aid Check isn't an all day thing - I assumed that was him doing things a captain might do. Meeting the crew - introducing himself to them; getting to know them - and so on. During that time - me Seijiro and Camm could have gotten the information and than met with everyone tonight and shared - than proceeded in the morning with that information.

Anyway - in a nutshell - the timing thing is annoying, yes; but my real issue is that entire plans have to be ret-conned or redone because it's taking a while to get information, that's all.

Human - (Status: normal) Varisian Sorcerer 5 (HP: 56/56, AC:21(14/19[+2]) /F:8,R:8,W:9 / MP: 5/5 / Init. +2 / Perc. +5/6(3))(Jack's Perc: +13/+15)

Since it takes a whole day for Infamy and each point of plunder, And Dhaavan was focused on selling at least on the first day,

Infamy would likely be happening throughout the night and second day, Talking and drinking into the morning, sleeping, and then going out again, before resting up for a final day of business

Last point of Plunder is handeled on the third day, and offloaded as per the previously arranged deals and such.

During that time He'll be selling off the other unclaimed items after the harpoon, and gathering supplies for crafting.

If we all have our first day working (selling and recruiting), then can devote day two to dealing with gathering info and pushing our rep. Then we have day three after all information is gathered and we have everything else taken care of save the last point of plunder

At this point - I don't what is going on. I posted specifically what I wanted to do, that was it. I added in my post I was waiting from information from the GM before I proceeded.

I posted what I am doing on "day 1". At this point I'm waiting to hear specifically from the GM. When I hear from him specifically - I'll go from there.

As far as I know we could have recruited crew members and also we could have talked to this girl on the first day. Or not at all. Or some combination. I don't know. I thought I had a pretty good idea what was going on but it turns out that I don't.

When I hear the straight word for the GM on what is going on - than I'll happily proceed. But I am going to wait for that post.

If we go all go together on the first day, that's cool. If I have to wait to go on the second day, and well go than, that's cool too.

GM - I wrote a fairly long post about what I wanted to do - which included specific questions for you. I don't know what happened after that; though there were some guesses. I'll wait to hear more in the meantime, though.
