Sko will make sure he has enough time to meditate before being assigned morning duties.
His back itches fiercely, though his head is feeling better after two days with no rum, but he'll cast a CLW on himself right after meditation. CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 The wounds from yesterday's lashng don't vanish completely but are little more than red welts now. Maybe that's just as well...
Sko will strip to his loincloth without bothering to even look at Plugg and leap overboard. When he hits the water he'll use Totemic Transformation to give himself Shark's Movement (30' swim speed, breathe underwater). In this calm weather it would be too easy to see the full shark transformation which isn't really needed here anyway. He'll come up for air enough so that it doesn't appear suspicious.
He's confident in everyone elses ability to swim and, knowing that he's probably going to have to cook it, Sko will get to the reef as fast as possible and get the best crabs he can find.

I watch the majority of the pressed folk fling themselves into the water. It seems that, for now, only Rain is on the deck with me.
I’m curious to know what she thinks of the idea of having a boat, or simply swimming out to a reef. In any case, I guess I’ll wait for the response from the captain or Plugg. I wonder though, what Rain will do, and am curious to know why Variel would leave her on the deck without a second thought after declaring his determination to protect her.
Turning to Rain, I speak to her quietly while I wait for the captain or Plugg to respond.
”Rain lass – if we do have to take a tumble with sharks out there, assuming we’re not allowed a boat, don’t worry. I’ll get your back. And if you need a weapon, let me know,” I add.

Retcon with Variel - from the night before.
Rain listens without interrupting Variel. She could not understand being left a foundling and raised by strangers without love or much affection. Growing up with more questions than answers. How fortunate my grandparents raised me when my parents passed away.
She allays some of his anxiety regarding her reaction to his story.
"I never saw it as you seeking sympathy, Variel. And you can trust me, for I have nothing to gain by knowing your story more intimately. Your folk, the ones who left you at the orphanage, they must have desired you to seek them out when you had grown, for otherwise why would they have left the medallion with the inscription. Or they could have wished you to know your particular history. Your endeavours to find out what lies behind Shanxia is nothing to sneer at or deter. If you seek aid in discovering more, then you can call on me. I give it freely."
Rain's eyes focus and darken when Variel tells of his impression of Flynn. "He is a man of many words but I shall not judge him for it. He has shown me loyalty since being brought on this ship and calls me friend. I will not forsake that loyalty or friendship. I think if others stopped to actually hear what he was saying, they would learn to respect his knowledge and not judge him for his mannerisms and tone."
Rain smiles at Variel, hoping her words have not caused a divide between them. "I count you as ally and friend as well, Variel. Let us go below and speak with Flynn and the others, if they are awake. Then we need to rest, too. I have a feeling tomorrow will bring new challenges. Gozreh and Besmara help us."

She gives a nod and smile to Variel as she makes her way upstairs upon the command of the First Mate. Her head is clear, thankfully, for she disposed of the rum last night.
She wonders at the order to catch crabs for the Captain's table and looks briefly out at the sea, toward the direction Plugg has mentioned.
Knowledge, Nature (re tides, reef etc): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Rain did not trust Plugg but an order on a ship was required to be executed otherwise the lash or the whip was the consequence at the Bloody Hour. Or worse..., thinking of the keelhauling.
She swiftly makes her way down below to fetch and don her leather-studded armor and cutlass. Her switchblade was still hidden in her boot. She wondered at the trident and then relented and strapped it to her back. She made it back upstairs to hear Flynn's request for a boat, which made sense to the logical and practical part of her brain.
Rain wondered at how Plugg or Captain Harrigan would react to the request, and, the determination etched on Flynn's face. She waited near him, not diving into the ocean like some of her companions had already done.
Upon Flynn's remark he would watch over her and give her a weapon, Rain points to her own weapons and nods her head in thanks all the same. A boat would make sense and would be useful for bringing in the catch and not drawing the attention of larger sea predators. If the order is a legitimate one and not a rouse to get us into the ocean and leave us.
If they are not given a boat and are ordered into the ocean to swim to the reef, this is Rain's necessary swim check.

While we wait for the Captain's response, I turn to Rain, and switch to Elven, as it seems less likely to be overheard or noticed.
”Well, lass – I’m not too hopeful on the boat now anyway. Perhaps if we had stood together as a team, instead of just you and I, we may have had a chance to encourage a different outcome. But I guess that was a foolish hope on my part - mainly as I’m not well liked by some of the other lads, despite my efforts; no wonder they'd be eager to jump into the water without me, or you for that matter, it seems.”
I shrug, and watch the others in the ocean.
”Bad luck about the others, though. If they bothered to put aside their pettiness, we may have made a decent team. Anyway, I guess we’ll see what happens next.”
In calm waters like these, I believe you can just "Take 10" on a swim check so you wouldn't have to make the roll.

I would not ask you to forsake a friendship even if I can not understand him myself. He has knowledge that may be true. For my sake I just wish that he would listen as much as he spoke. He speaks of this place as though he holds everyone responsible for his position. Those that have had no quarrel with him he's till is prejudice against. Ret-con with Variel
Hearing the conversation at length, I come back and overhear Variel’s comments.
My eyes grow wide at his accusations, and then narrow.
”You know what,” I say slowly and angrily at his accusations ”You’re a gods damn liar.”
”I never once had a problem with Sko – he’s a good lad, and I do what I can for him. You saying otherwise is a gods damned lie. And you know something else? I tried what I could to be your friend – I did what I could to be mates with you; I tried healing you after the rat bites, I tried helping you even before I knew you, and doing what I could to talk nice to you. And you know what it got me? It got me nasty comments from you – and it got me insults from you. You sit there and have the balls to say I have a problem with the whole crew, when all I had was a problem with them that slaved us.”
”I told you that many a time that isn't the case, but you keep saying it is. Why? Why would you keep lying when I tell you that isn't true? Why do you feel it necessary to lie about me, over and over?”
”I never had a real problem with you; except when you decided to tell me that I was putting down the whole crew when I wasn’t even talking to you – which was a lie."
"Even when I don't say anything to you, you hack at me - you make comments about me - you make nasty asides about me - and now you're lying about me. Why? Why in every gods name is that the case?"
I shake my head in baffled confusion.
"You treat me like filth, no matter what I do to you, or say to you; but it's done. It ends, now. Because if you do it again - that's it. I'm finished with sitting there. We could have been friends or allies in a common cause - but if you want to keep insulting me - and lying about me and saying things about me... then we're going to have a problem."

Plugg looks at you and gets in your face. Let's get one thing straight swab! You swim when I say swim. You climb when I say climb...and if it comes to it you die when I say die. Now get your ass in the water! Also, He yells to the rest of the group, Someone explain to this landlubber how to crab fish on a reef. Nets! Seijiro looks back at those jumping off the ship so much later and hopes at least one of them grabbed the crab pots, because he didn't grab one and there were four of them there... oh well, if no one grabbed am and they're not throwing em overboard for us to grab, we're gonna have a heckuva time collecting many crabs.
He swims slowly at first, just in case the pots get thrown overboard to be grabbed, in which case he'll swim back and grab one, swimming with it.
The reef seems a loooong way away from the ship but it feels SO good to be in the water and off the ship, he just swims, enjoying himself.

My eyes widen as I hear Variel’s comments about Fishguts.
I maintain a leisurely backstroke as I listen to his words, glancing at the sun above me.
”Why that’s very disturbing –that is; the implications about the lad Fishguts. Imagine – eating a man because he was indecent to you,” I add with a shudder.
”Cannibalism! Ugh – quite barbaric, I assure you. I’m sure if I were to do such things myself, no doubt they would displease my mother’s memory… That would be very bad; to displease that memory,” I add absently.
”Ah well; such things are best not to dwell on.”
”And Variel – to help clarify things; there is only two men I have a direct problem with at this time – the captain, and Mister Plugg. Surely it is the captain who runs the ship and is deserving of our distaste for his determination to insist that we are forced on the ship with drugs and make us slaves. As for Plugg – why… he is the first officer; and delights in tormenting us. Surely he deserves loathing? And as they both command and the others follow; and as they both are responsible for our position – surely they are responsible for my discontent,” I add glancing to Variel as we swim – confident that he can hear me, and now that any of my previous frustrations with folk on this ship our now made clear.

SLight Ret-con. Dhaavan had not had time to get in the water while there was such a to-do about the boat
Dhaavan at this point pipes in, speaking calmly to Mr. Plugg "Sure, sir, orders are orders, but askin bout a boat ain't got nothin to do with insubordination. Thing is, while it ain't yer place to worry about our safety, If yea want crabs and we get ourselves eaten by sharks swimmin round that reef, cause we got to swim back to the ship without a boat, then what happens? Captain don't get his crabs, and that's a problem. Well, not for us cause we'd be dead an' eated" Dhaavan adds with shrug.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
"That said, I ain't complainin about a dip. Like yea said, 'Swim' so I swim. Jest hopin' ta make it back alive with a haul o crabs for yea." He'll throw Plugg a smart solute and hop into the water after Flynn and Variel, unless Plugg has something to say to him.
Paddling over to Valeros, thanks him for the hand making it out to the reef. Jack on the other hand flits out, and watches Plugg and Scourge for any sorts of markings.

Rain rolled a swim check earlier and got 23. If she's swimming with a large crab pot (or more than one) attached to her, is there a penalty or no? I know we're currently in calm waters.

Dhaavan: Nice roll!
As you all swim over towards the reef, the cool water feels amazing as the sun beats down upon you. Looking below you see schools of brightly colored fish and pure white sand. Coral in all the colors of the rainbow shimmer in the sunlight. Anemones sway with the currents as little clownfish dart among them. In short you haven't felt better since being on the ship. Even the threat of potential punishment for failing is not enough to dampen your spirits.
The reef itself is about 100 yards square and ranges between 5 and 30 feet below the surface of the water.
As you swim over the reef you begin to spot crab scuttling along the bottom.
To catch a crab, you may make a dc 10 perception or survival check, followed by a dc 10 swim check to grab the crab. Each pot can hold 4 crab and you suspect that the Captain wants them filled before you return. Please make 3 checks and we will see where we are as far as filling the pots with the 16 crab.

Thank you! Naturally I will aid you in your search, Rain. Meanwhile, it occurred to me that the Aquan language, if it is played like the language of dolphin's or whales, may be easier to hear in water. Of course, I don't know any specific rules for it, and don't believe there are any specific rules, but that would seem to make sense to me.

For those that make their perception check, they can attempt a knowledge dungeoneering or nature check to identify the creatures. Anyone who missed can make checks in the next round as you can then obviously see them. Also, those that made their checks can act in the surprise round.
RC's average: 10.66
Party Average: 10.28
RC's go, then party goes, although only those that make the initial perception check of 24 can act in the surprise round.

Sko did not have a pot. Any crabs he catches he'll put in someone else's pot that isn't full.
Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Swim: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Swim: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Swim: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
It takes a few seconds to find the second crab but Sko quickly scoops them up and spreads them around the other pots that aren't full.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Sko, unaware of the approaching danger, is actually quite enjoying himself.

quick post from work as I am busy today
perception checks to find crab; take 10 on swim checks
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 fail
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 success
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 success
Variel manages after initial failure to grab 2 crabs to help fill the pots. He is oblivious to the beheamoths coming up from the depths however and continues to swim and gather crab. it isn't until Rain warns everyone that he even suspects any danger is about.

Can't hit the DC for the Perception on the baddies and I'll post my first 3 crab checks after we've resolved combat since it shouldn't matter one way or another.
Valeros has mixed results at his attempts at crabbing, his vision not quite adequate at picking the little things up amongst the coral. Still the rest of the crew is having some success which is heartening.
Valeros's head whipped around at Rain's shouted warning but he couldn't see the danger she had spotted.
Placed my starting position on the map.

I just noticed this add-on about Knowledge: Nature – I will make that post as well, as I can. Who knows, maybe I will get lucky – though I suppose it will only matter AFTER I see them.
Knowledge: Nature
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Also - you said third dive down. We had to swap out crab pots, as we only had 4 and could only make 3 dives a piece. I assume if Rain saw them, and could call out, then I would be up with her; as I was "aiding her" while on the rocks looking around. But in which case, who's down for their third dive? For now I'm assuming the next crew, and will be where I had myself in an earlier posting. If I would have been below the surface, please let me know, I'll make adjustments if needed.
Edit: My rolls suck!

NP as I said above I will just assume you are all on the surface unless you wish to be below. If you are below I need to know the depth in feet you are below the surface.
Also since you said you were on one of the five foot sections of reef please place yourself on the map on one of the green squares.

Already done, sir! Now, off to a fun lunch of fresh pasta's, hot bread, and then some gourmet ice cream!
PS - I'm not sure where you'd place Rain, but chance's are she'd be near both Variel and I - I know she was close to me if were working as a team to "spot" - and Variel would have likely been nearby because he normally sticks by Rain. As for Jiro - he's kind of small - he'd probably be on a 5 foot depth as well, but I don't know that formally; but it's likely they won't be tossing this up by EST Noon.
And to liven things up... Appropriate Clip

I moved 1 square over to be over a 5' section as where you originally put Seijiro was over a deeper section - he's only 5' tall and would have been swimming over the shallowest possible section. He's still well within reach of the critter there, right?

ACK... no... somebody moved him - when I moved him, he was where Horatio is now, and Horatio was where he was... I'm very confused, as I didn't do that.

I agree. Another FYI I guess, and I am not pointing any fingers, but please dont touch or go over anyone else's spot on the map. Just control your own character. If you are both going into the same spot let me know and I will figure out a solution. Again, no fingers pointing anywhere and no harm done, just an FYI for the future. Thank you Seijiro for being flexible.
