Nice shots Dhaavan! Both hit but the second does not confirm.

The manticore lets loose with another breath, directly at Variel and Rain and Neko, before 5' stepping closer and engulfing Rain and Variel in the invisible cloud of additional poison surrounding it.

Rain and Variel I need two fort saves. Failure on the first and you take 1d6 ⇒ 6 Intelligence damage and 1d6 ⇒ 2 Wisdom damage and Confusion as the spell for 6 rounds, half on a successful save and no confusion. For the second save failure and you take 1d3 ⇒ 1 strength damage and be sickened for 1 hour, nothing on a successful save.

Meanwhile in the other room, angered at the scorching ray attack, Zarskia hurls two bombs, one at Dhaavan and the other at Adistan. These bombs explode with concussive force, potentially knocking you off your feet.

Rain, having had enough of the manticore's poisonous treatment of her and Variel, thrust the magical pike ferociously forward, hoping to put an end to the creature. With Variel's spell, she is able to get in a second attack. (Due to Haste: Full round action: 2 attacks.)

2 handed Power Attack 1 with 20ft pike, lead blades plus Haste on Manticore plus Pack Flanking: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 25 (added the +1 to hit & damage from Amen's summoned Lantern Archon, if allowable since Rain went first - shrugs.)

HP 61/63 (+9 temporary HP from Amen's Lantern Archon - notn included in the 61), AC 23+1 from Haste=24, Lead Blades on Pike, Bless from Adular. Magical Pike has a 20ft reach. 3 uses out of 5 of Mythic Surge this day. Haste cast on her by Variel. INT damage 1+3=4 (INT is now 10), WIS damage 2+1=3 (WIS is now 11). Rain immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.

Will defintely need some divine healing of her ability stats soon enough as Rain is down 4 on INT and 3 on WIS currently and she needs her wisdom to pilot the ship and for her spells. :p


Female 7 - HP: 61, AC: 19, (Fort: 6, Ref: 3, Will: 9). Initiative: +1, Perception: 13/15

Amen-set will move forward via her Move Action and will now let her spell go off.

She used Summon Monster 3 last round and now a Lantern Archon which has appeared on the map this round.

Meanwhile, she uses for her Standard Action to cast Produce Flame and then a Five Foot Step to get out of the way for Horatio to act.

The Lantern Archon quickly moves to The space between Variel, Rain and Neko and uses At Will the spell-like ability Aid on Variel, Rain and Neko.

This grants them all 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Temporary Hit Points as well as +1 to Hit and Damage.

The Lantern Archon finally lets off two beams of light energy to strike the Manticore –

Each Ray is a Touch Attack.

Ray 1
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

IF it hits –
1d6 ⇒ 4

Ray 2
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

If it hits
1d6 ⇒ 6

The Rays overcome all DR and hit a Touch Attack of 11.

And, finally, both the Manticore and Cat Monster are in the range effect of the Lantern Archon’s Aura of Menace and both need to make a Will Save or be effected by it.

GM - the Archon should still be at the spot located between Neko, Rain and Variel - I don't have a Coordinate to put it on the map, unfortunately...

Rain - quick question, but would Group Flanking be able to boost the Archon's Attack Bonus as well, or does that take time to go into effect?

He had cast Cat’s Grace and this round he elects to use another Round of Archeologist’s Luck against these creatures.

Cat’s Grace nets him a total of +4 to his Dexterity; and a +2 to hit with all Finesse and Ranged Weapons – among AC and Reflex Saves

Moving forward he uses his pistol at the Cat Monster ahead of him –

Hmm... You could be right.

If I can only pick one target, I suppose I'd pick Variel as he's on point and will likely need the extra HP.

However, when it comes to using the Aid Spell AND the Ray Attack I guess if I can only use the ray attacks or the aid bonus, I guess I'd pick the ray attacks - the sooner we drop this mutha the better.

In either case both enemies will still need to make their Willpower saves; so hopefully there's that.

FYI: You do realize that if this was an Oprah Lantern Archon there'd be no problem - Because YOU have an Aid Spell and YOU have an Aid Spell and YOU have an Aid Spell - EVERYONE has an Aid Spell!

Immortal said I could retcon Neko's recent action as I was unaware and unsure of some things. So, here goes.

Staring at the manticore, the magical golden cat began casting again and a missle of magical energy darts from her paw toward the manticore. As soon as the first has left her paw, a second appears and is directed at the same foe.

Force Damage of MM 1 on manticore: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Force Damage of MM 2 on manticore: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

He pulls some spider legs from a pouch and tosses them in the air. "Durimbus!" Webs shoot from his hands and engulf the cat.

Web Spell, fixed so the radius is one square off Variel. Cat should be prone. It is a DC18 Reflex or grappled. If it succeeds, it is difficult terrain (no charge/pounce/full round action for 2 rounds, hopefully).

Horatio turns a startled glance at the newcomer, clearly baffled.

It seemed clear that Horatio did not realize when he stepped out to fire that the cat was asleep, unfortunately.

In this case the new caster seemed right in his assessment, though; Horatio shouldn't have simply attacked the enemy without using some strategy.

His eyes narrow darkly at his mistake, but then a sardonic smile creeps over his face.

After all, what sort of gunfighter-smuggler type would he be if he didn't shoot first?

Due to the combined attacks, the manticore falls dead. The cat wakes up when shot, snarling before groups of webbing falls upon it. Reflex Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

The cat manages to keep from getting stuck in the webbing.

Seijiro manages to critically hit Zarskia, causing her to shriek in pain. Crit card is...Bicep Wound...1d4 ⇒ 1 strength damage as Seijiro's blade pierces her bicep.

Adular places his hand on Zarskia and attempts to curse her, 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 feeling the fell energy attempt to engulf her she forces it back out.

Just as she is about to reply, she looks over and is captivated by Dhaavan's beauty, she attempts to wrench her gaze from his perfect face...1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8...failing to do so as she is stunned by his radiance for 1d4 ⇒ 2 round.

The cat, seeing that the web has actually helped to conceal it from it's enemies moves towards the south and disappears in the webs.

Hearing Dhaavan's voice, Amen-set's eyes widen and then narrow.

She throws a ball of fire from her hand into the mass of webbing -

Not entirely sure how this works, as the book suggests flaming weapons burn through the web as "a hand brushes through cobwebs". But it also says it only burns through one 5x5 square per round... So if I had a flaming spear could I burn through 10 feet in one round, and would that be the same with a spell?

That said, she'll aim in a direct, diagonal line at a 45 degree angle. This starts at Amen-set's position at the doorway and should end up two squares below the text that says C:13, assuming it can move through the web without being hindered?

Not sure how much of the web is actually burned away formally, or how long it takes to burn - but here's her attack roll for a range attack on the square that should be two squares below the C:13 coordinate, and one square to the right of the whitish box on the map.

Amen-set might make a Move Action, depending on how much the webbing is cleared, but for now I need to wait to see what happens next.

After I know more about the web, Horatio will take his Action and Amen-set will take her Move Action -

If it helps, I think Variel should be fine, actually.

The Web won’t burn up completely in a single round, and very likely only a few squares will burn, if at all.

However, even if somehow the entire web is burned, the creature is not able to Charge Variel; there are several walls blocking a straight line for its charge, not to mention the actions of the rest of our company.

For now we need to see how much of the web is destroyed, if at all.

Again, that remains to be seen via the Charge. Amen-set has yet to take her Move Action, which she could use to protect her senet (the Pilot-Major), who stands next to Variel, which she would happily do, if need be.

Meantime, this assumes Variel remains in his current location and that Rain doesn't ret-con her action; not to mention Adistan, Jiro-san, the padre, not to mention Horatio himself.

As for the web's destruction? Well, you're probably right, but for now I guess we wait for the GM to hear about how badly off the web is or isn't.

But all that's "out-of-game" stuff; "in-game" Amen-set cares for Dhaavan and is prepared to go to great (possibly foolish) lengths to protect him from danger - hence her action :)

But don't worry; both she and Horatio have a few tricks up their sleeves before this round is over ;)

Immortal has asked for Rain and Neko to retcon their recent actions. He is permitting me to keep/use my last roll (15).

Seeing the creature disappear among the magical webbing and watching as Variel is still lost in confusion, again babbling to his blade, Rain sends a mental communique to her golden cat companion, //Get back from the door. Variel is confused and dangerous.//

Neko moves away from the door and down to the end of the north corridor and waits there in total defense.

Neko's Current Status:

HP 28/28, AC 22+1+4=27, Mage Armour on herself (+4 to AC for 4 hours), Bless from Adular, SLA: 1 Dimension Door spell out of 3 this day, 3 first level spells/7: Mage Armorx1, Magic Missilex2. Haste from Variel.

Rain grabs Variel's free hand to pull him out of immediate danger and if he does not come willingly she will attempt to drag him behind her. She hopes her betrothed can overcome his confusion sooner than later. (Yes, I know the confusion lasts 6 rounds unless Variel can make a Fort Save (DC 19)... but Rain doesn't know the duration. ;))

If he won't come willingly due to confusion
Combat manoeuvre to drag Variel away from danger/toward the door: 15+8=23 vs Variel's current CMD 22 (have included the +4 for Bull's Strength and the -3 for STR damage).

If successful, Rain will be out in the corridor and Variel in the corner of the room as she can only drag him 5 ft... I have moved both avatars for now (until Immortal tells me otherwise). I had to move us that way as Amen's Lantern Archon is in the way of a making straight path to the door. But if Rain can move Variel without too much fuss and not dragging him all the better and they'll both end up in the corridor. Immortal, please let me know how it goes.

Rain's Current Status:

HP 61/63, AC 23+1 from Haste=24, Lead Blades on Pike, Bless from Adular. Magical Pike has a 20ft reach. 3 uses out of 5 of Mythic Surge this day. Haste cast on her by Variel. INT damage 1+3=4 (INT is now 10), WIS damage 2+1=3 (WIS is now 11). Rain immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.

The fire will spread 5feet per round the point of the fires contact so the flames will occur in a line this round and then spread out.

Rain that's fine you can do that but be aware that he may attack you next round.

Variel can you NPC the kamadan to keep next round rolling?

Amen-set turns to the Lantern Archon in the rear and calls out to it –

The Lantern Archon teleport’s at will to the square directly under the square that says C:15 (see map).

At this point it will attack the Panther creature with the rays (this is a Ranged Touch Attack effect) -

Finally, Amen-set takes her Move Action to move down the burned path of webs so that Horatio can move forward to follow her (see Map).

I'm guessing they both hit, but all they did was 6 damage (if at all). Main perk is that now there's a new player to distract the cat and Caster - also, the Caster must make a Willpower Save, or suffer the penalties, too :)

EDIT: Okay, so if a Touch Attack on the Cat at 22 confirms, then that means he did x4 damage which translates into a total of 36 normal, plus an additional 5 Fire (unless the Fire multiplies, too - in which case it's an additional 20 Fire. Either way, that's a total of 41 to a possible 56 damage on that attack.

Please let me know if that confirms and (if it does) if the Fire also multiples on Critical Multipliers (I'm not sure if it does; but I would like to know either way for the future...

I had a response for this – it laid out a bunch of follow-up questions that occurred to me after you posted, but I honestly don’t know what to do in this case at all since there’s a bit of confusion here.

However, it turns out that Rain will GM-NPCing the Monster for the GM so I’m going to just put the full line of questions on the Discussion Thread for her in a moment to answer.

Still not sure on that Crit - but just in case, her's the additional 3 x (1d8+7):

3d8 + 21 ⇒ (5, 3, 1) + 21 = 30

And just in case, an extra 3d6 Fire Damage
3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5) = 13

EDIT: If it confirms and it has to be rolled individually the Cat should have taken a total of 64 Damage now and (potentially) an additional 13 Fire damage for a possible total of 77 Damage).

Dhaavan, the electricity seems to sink into her without effect. You think she may have some sort of protection spell enabled.

Amen, you cannot have the lantern archon teleport and attack in the same round. It says at will but it's still a standard action to teleport, it just means you can do it unlimited times per day. So I need clarification on what you want it to do. The fire does burn in a line and continues to burn this round, next round the line it passed through will go out and the next 5' will burn and so on.

Flynn, you will take 2d4 damage for walking through the flames. When you reach the end however, you don't see one cat but 4 of them, all snarling, one appears to be stuck in the web. Which one are you going to shoot at?

Jamba, you will be suffering damage to do that action as well. 2d4 fire damage and which cat are you hexing?

In the other room, Zarskia has her hands bound and things are looking well when suddenly a tentacle bursts from around her waist, grabs a bomb and tosses it at her feet. A noxious green cloud bursts forth engulfs the room.

I need everyone in the room, seijiro, adular, adistan, dhaavan, and the lantern archon (if it's in there), to make a fortitude save or take 1d4 ⇒ 4 constitution damage. On a successful save you still take 2 constitution damage

This bomb duplicates the effects of a cloudkill spell.
