ok, guess I'm not still up...
night guys -_-
Hey Imm, how viable is a summoned elemental as a scout? Swim speed of 90, +4 perception, and speaks aquan, but it only lasts 7 rounds.
Figure Dhaavan would know what a summon can do in a little less than a minute, since that's his thing

Elemental can search but they're not exactly the brightest creatures. They can look but think of them almost like robots. No real creative thinking. Suffice it to say even if you find a cave entrance near the bottom you won't be able to get there and live
Rain Taneththir |
You guys need to give me a clear cut consensus on what you are doing. In the future maybe give me an ooc vote so I can be clear or something.
Perhaps we can all jump on the discussion thread and say "aye" or "nay" regarding a suggestion/plan/idea and Immortal can then do a count and determine which majority wins? Easier then putting more OOC clutter on the main board and it being lost among other game posts (which happens). Is this okay with everyone?
Seijiro |
I suppose moving the ship is a pig in a poke - we could be moving it right over the sahuagin... or just giving them a longer swim to get to it... it may or may not help... I think moving the ship isn't nec. our best idea... just my two cents... on the other hand, we can set the crew to keep a sharp lookout and protect the ship while we explore the cave... or not... up to you all.. seijiro will go along with the majority.
Variel Nightstorm |
Sorry for not posting sooner, oldest had kindergarten open house and that kept me busy after work till now.
A couple of things...
Variel meant that by moving the ship it would be to the opening of the cove where the beach was but not outside of the cove. Keep the protection of the cliffs in case inclement weather is outside but have the luxury of the beach to unload sailors to work on the rudder if need be.
While Adular and Rain were searching Variel would have been out in the boat in case they needed help.
Since nothing was found looks like we move on to the cave to see what is there and leave Sandara and the crew in charge of fixing the rudder and defending the ship if needs be.
Seijiro |
Seijiro will climb near the "front", but not necessarily first, and keep an eye out for traps.
Rain Taneththir |
I have no issue where Rain is in the climbing order (her Climb is +10, she has sure grasp and cliff jumper). If it's best for her to remain closer to the front (most probably), that's where she'll be.
Variel Nightstorm |
I believe that Rain and Jiro are the best climbers so have them lead marking a path for the rest. Then have Adular and Dhaavan so the first 2 can aid them and then have Flynn and Amen-set. Variel can go wherever.
We head for the false lost eye as mentioned in the clues as Dhaavan indicated.
Dhaavan |
When he learns of the Sahuagin connection, Dhaavan bows deeply to Rain. These bottom-feeders attacked my home, then sent a whore of the abyss after us. I would like to request the honor of further defiling their relic by wearing it myself. I'll happily make you a new amulet, a more potent one like your amore's one should we have the funds.Turning to the captain he adds, Not that I don't think you can keep your lady safe, or that Rain really even needs protection but this is personal.
The amulet is still a useful trinket and it'd be a waste not to take advantage of it. It'll lure the fish out, and keep them focused on us rather than the rock. To be honest, I'd be more comfortable if we keep the amulet with us. I have to keep my people safe
although Varial wearing it makes sense, since he'll be in the lead, and maybe i don't want dhaavan to be their prime target... not much by way of hp, right?
Dhaavan already has an AoNA, so if he took the plat he'd give Variel his, so the cap'n has one of the amulets, as does Dhaav, regardless
Variel, you're already all healed up, right?
We check the map and the symbol of the eye to see which one the symbol is, or if the old king is missing one, otherwise, the left eye?
After the Healing and channeling, Variel should finish healing up, on his sheet
Variel Nightstorm |
sorry Dhaavan I missed that you have the amulet. Consider it still yours.
Yes Variel is healed up. I will adjust my profile accordingly.
Flynn knew from his local check or history check or something like that which was the bad eye. I can't remember right now.
DM Immortal |
You guessed correctly anyway...let's just say you bypassed a pretty nasty trap that way lol
Variel Nightstorm |
I will take it nicety Immortal. Nice guess Dhaavan.
By the way we should have taken at least one crew member along and put him in a red shirt to lead the way. Remind me of that next time we go exploring.
Variel Nightstorm |
night all. Talk in the morning.
DM Immortal |
Thanks all for the Anniversary well wishes. You all are awesome!!!

I will be unable to post until probably Sunday night.
I hope to see you all when I get back and I hope you all have a very lovely weekend.

It's Father's Day in Oz tomorrow -- so I'll be gone all day (out of town) -- celebrating -- and will be able to post later in my night. :)

Quick question immortal. How high did we climb up to get to the caves? I ask as the description made it sound like we climbed higher up than the 30ft that we dropped down. If so then this water is above sea level?
Question for the rest... Do we want Adular to cast water breathing now or have all of us scout ahead holding our breath for a few rounds to scout ahead to see if this is just a low spot?
Seijiro |
I agree too..
DM Immortal |
If the description sounded different that's my fault. It was about 30 up and 30 down.
Variel Nightstorm |
I just read it wrong np Immortal.

Firearms in Water:
With the Air Bubble spell (target - object):
A firearm within an air bubble can be loaded—assuming the black powder comes from a powder horn, a cartridge, or some other airtight protective device—and fired. When shooting such a firearm underwater, the shot still takes the standard –2 penalty on attack rolls for every 5 feet of water the bullet passes through, in addition to normal penalties due to range. If a firearm within the air bubble explodes, the explosion occurs normally.
For e.g., this spell could help Flynn out in the future with his firearm...Clerics, Rangers and Sorcerers have the spell, so Adular could prepare it (for future underwater combat) and Rain (and/or Dhaavan) could put it on their known spells next level... if it is worthwhile.
----
Perhaps Flynn will get a chance to post today and let us know his weapon situation. :) Is Amen-set with us, too, or is she waiting back on the ship?

Ok so I have a question for the group. I have two builds that I am toying between and am not sure which one to go with. Both can buff pretty well and are very tanky. I'm not sure which to go with so I will leave it up to you all. This is purely a mechanical question as the character backstory and concepts are staying the same.
Build 1: Straight Synthesis Summoner (Biped, Reach, Compel Hostility to force bad guys to attack)
Build 2: Straight Saurian Shaman Druid (Much more utility, healing, buffing, still tanky due to various forms and armor)
What do you think?
Seijiro |
I hate synthesis summoners, so saurian shaman druid is my option of the two.. (synthesis summoners have been errata'd to death to the point they are pretty unplayable, imo) I have a saurian druid that I really like, and they are fun to play.
DM Immortal |
I was leaning towards the saurian anyway but I just wanted to get some feedback. I think that's what I'll go with. Thanks Adular and Jiro!
DM Immortal |
just out of curiousity what was the errata on the synth? I've been out for a while and hadn't seen it.
Seijiro |
check out this link ... scroll down to the faq info on the synthesist summoner... it is sort of a combination of clarification/faq/errata all in one through the answering of LOTS of questions on the synthesist summoner... there is a reason they are banned for society play! lol
note: there was an errata posted at http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/v5748btpy8k8r/faq at one time - that seems to have been taken down.
DM Immortal |
Whew that is all over the place lol. Glad I didn't go with that concept.
Dhaavan |
Will the druid be domain, or animal companion? Having a pretty pet shark could be nifty.
Or some kind of bodyguard, cause that feat, combat patrol, and aid another support is pretty to.
Not familiar with synthesists
DM Immortal |
animal companion but itll be a dino of some kind due to it being a saurian shaman. Has to be a dino for the archetype
Seijiro |
still gives you a lot of choices: pliosaurs, ichthyosaurs, mosasaurs, not to mention ancient snakes, turtles and crocodiles which were all alive during the dinosaur epoch.
Variel Nightstorm |
Salt water crocodiles are vicious...
